Wall Street Protest Growing
Major Unions Join Wall Street Protest
The Teamsters Union and New York Transit Workers Union have thrown their support behind the Wall Street protests.
Alexander Higgins - reporting live from the protests - notes that United Airlines pilots marched in the protest wearing their full pilot uniforms:
True Conservatives Support Protest
This may seem at first glance like a liberal cause, but as I've previously noted, that is a false dichotomy, and true conservatives support it:
The whole left-versus-right thing is just a distraction trick. It’s really the American people versus the giant bankers, captains of the military-industrial complex, and handful of others who are benefiting by shafting the average American.
Remember that one of the founders of the Tea Party – Karl Denninger – has slammed the current Tea Party (which was quickly co-opted by the mainstream GOP) for serving the rich and the Republican party instead of fighting against the giant banks, and is calling for non-partisan, Gandhi-style nonviolent resistance to take on the banskters.
And see this.
Protests Spreading World-Wide
The protests are spreading world-wide. There are now purportedly 80+ copycat protests planned world-wide, including London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and Las Vegas.
Mainstream Media Now Covering Protest
And the police brutality on innocent Wall Street protesters is finally being covered by the mainstream news.
Here is a must-watch MSNBC segment:
The Guardian and Atlantic Wire also have good write ups on these incidents. They discuss the following video of yet another unprovoked pepper spray attack (this one on a media photographer not directly taking part in the protests):
As with the police use of firehoses on African-American children in the American South during the 1960s or the murder of non-violent South African activists, police violence seems to have backfired and turned public opinion in favor of the protesters.

Your post (adr) is a remarkably pathetic attempt at a thread hijack. Troll harder next time.
I'd like to get one started here in Pittsburgh, but everybody - liberal, conservative, gay, straight, brown, black, white, blonde, brunette, etc. - is too goddamn preoccupied with the Steelers NFL franchise to care about anything else.
You would be surprised how big of a fire you can create with just a little spark.
If you are serious check this out - The Pittsburg Occupution is currently being planned
For others looking for something in their own area.... http://occupytogether.org/
Thanks!
You should also include in this report - The Unions now officially endorsing the Occupy Wall Street movement include the Teamsters, International World Workers, and the Massive Transport Workers Union with VERIZON workers saying they will join in the protests today (hopefully the raind doesn't stop them)
Here We Go – 200,000 Member Transport Workers Union Votes To Support Occupy Wall Street
And ... another incident of police brutality that is just getting out there...
Caught On Camera - NYDP Punches Occupy Wall Street Protestor In The Face For No Apparent Reason
The part I find so amazing is how excellent these protesters are at turning this against the police. They do not react with violence, they are videotaping every damn minute just in case something happens, and they are like ninja masters at getting the names of abusive cops AT THE SCENE. It is just incredible that they can keep their heads about them and be ... well ... so damn smart about how they are protesting.
If they can keep it together, the NYPD (and financial world) is really going to end up with a PR disaster.
Solidarity with those occupying Wall Street. Keep up the courageous work and be safe. Thanks from those of us who cannot be there to join in this fight.
Alexander, thanks for your reporting from Wall Sreet! Keep up the good work ...
Thank you for your awesome blog. You and Tyler have shaped me into the reporter I am :)
Give my best to the people on Wall Street!
I've written a great rock song which the protesters can use ... email me if you want to discuss.
Me too, excellent blog Washington. I'll be getting my Occupy Wall St from you form now on. Keep the updates coming!
First time visit, now bookmark, great job.
If these people were at all serious they would be outside 85 Broad Street.

Problem is there is Poice everywhere. Protestors attempt to non violent. They leave the square during scheduled marches in mass, at which time the police are more likely begin provocation.
Look what's happening out in Wall street

Pepper spray - that's nothing. Jsut wait for the battle-tested, Iraq-proven, blood-disensitized National Guard arrives - make sure to order extra supply of body bags from a siter police state, China!
Hey Bloomberd - F.U. for not reigning in your assault pigs (can't call them dogs.) I'll never vote for your sorry a$$ again. And will donate to your opponents.
Some of those same battle tested vets will also be protesters.
http://occupytogether.org/
this site brings together all the cities that are participating
I don't want the unions anywhere near this protest. This movement is going to get co-opted bigtime.
You mean like Fox News and the GOP did with the Tea Party?
+1 So far unions have been sent in to do the big O's bidding and since TBTFs are his buddies...
Yep, it's a bargaining tool. They'll stir up the action, then demand big favors to pull out.
Expect Us!
Once we were weak; but now we stand tall.
Millions of citizens, heeding the call.
Demanding our freedom, the birthright of all.
The Arab Spring turns to The American Fall.
We're the 99, and we'll never forgive.
We'll never forget how you've made us live.
Expect us at your door, prepare to defend!
The reign of the moneyed and privileged now ends.
Once we were few; now we grow by the hour.
The lamb sheds its mask—the emperor cowers.
The wolf bares her teeth, her hunger devours,
The gleaming skyscrapers, the ivory towers.
We're the 99, and we'll never forgive.
We'll never forget how you've made us live.
Expect us at your door, prepare to defend!
The world of the moneyed and privileged now ends.
There's no "job creators", a "trickle-down" bust.
And time's running out for your greed and your lust.
You've earned no respect, and squandered our trust.
From this day forward, you must expect us!
We're the 99, and we'll never forgive.
We'll never forget how you've made us live.
Expect us at your door, prepare to defend!
The reign of the moneyed and privileged now ends.

Thanks, GW.
I don't see much info regarding this event, even on the internet spots I usually frequent.
Must hit too close to too many.
Thanks too, TD and ZH, for the forum.
Maybe its time for the protestors to start bringing their own Pepper spray and maybe some rope. I am sure that Wall street has some lamp posts somewhere.
Those would likely be undercover cops working as agent provocateurs, hoping to incite a riot in order to regain any public support they had before the infamous Tony Baloney tripped them up.
Violence is not the answer. Awareness of the reality that surrounds us though, is.
I really would like to see Ron Paul there.
If he´s wellcome by the leftist part of the movement there will be hope.
I was just thinking this morning that Dr. Paul would be wise to lend his voice to cause, as his is the most coherent in support of it. It would also provide a receptive audience for his message, and work to break down the false left-right divide, as people start to understand monetary policy has a very human element in a manner which they never expected.
I'd hate for Dr. Paul to catch a beat down though...and I don't think Tony Boloney would hesitate to mace the good Dr.
This is the first time I could watch an entire segment of Lawrence O'Donnell without yelling at the screen. I guess that means he's "right". Cops shouldn't be allowed to beat up women like that.
Meanwhile in the WH
POTUS (hearing the news while shaving in the bathroom): Darling, this is an outrageous racist attack!!!!!
POTUS´S W (watching the news in the bedroom): Barry I´m not so sure that the beaten people are african-americans
POTUS: Well, err, ummm....please, call the teleprompter´s guy ASAP
Meanwhile back in the Turks and Caicos...
Fuck you Joey Baloney! This isnt Egypt or Syria after all, you better watch out! Lets see what happens to these fat cop jackboot wanna-be donutboys when the NYC transportation unions join in on the street protest as they voted last nite to do!
Hey Sheepdog, I saw that cop identified as Anthony Bologna or Tony Baloney. I thought it had to be joke!
There will be no justice unless we the people take over.
They aren't going to give up control without a fight. There's going to be blood... and most of it will be ours, sadly.
Don't count on it. If violence errupts, we have more guns than they do.
Once this thing escalates beyond college kids, and very disgruntled workers get involved, you can rest assurred there will be a multitude of armed protesters. This country is awash in guns. Virtually every male I know has at least one handgun.
Not tha I am advocating violence....but a Kent State moment is likely to have a whole different outcome in downtown Manhattan in 2012 that it did on a college campus 42 years ago....just sayin'.
'NYC's largest union just voted last nite to join the Wall St protests starting Friday'...yea lets see how the cops do when thousands of union members join in tomorrow!
Right Now -- the good cops on that police force need to do what all good cops on all police forces NEED to DO -- give up the bad cops and put them in front of a judge NOW!!!!!! THIS BULLSHIT NEEDS TO END FOR EVERYONE!
Save a Human Being.. Bar-B-Que a Pig!
Find out where they live and ask them kindly to be nice. Very late at night when nobody's watching.
