Our senior high school class graduation trip" in 1953 was to Branson. The facilities consisted of a dam on the river making good swimming areas or fishing if you wanted catfish. although at that time there were good game fish places in the hills further south. Brick fireplaces, stone barbacue pits and wooden tables with benches were placed around for picknickers.
There were souvenir stores, a sandwich shops and resturant; wooden construction, as I recall. Ther were quite a few cabins, as I recall, of wooden construction and a bulding (wooden) with hardwood floor for dancing with a band.
In short, it was a spot for group getaway functions but nothing special.
You house proud town mouse, ha ha charade you are. You're trying to keep our feelings off the street, you're nearly a real treat, all tight lips and cold feet, and do you feel abused?
You gotta stem the evil tide, and keep it all on the inside...
I thought I was the Floyd Fan but somehow missed this album growing up in the 70's. My wife (girlfriend at the time in the early nineties) was a DJ at the local college radio station. She had this CD on one of her playlist one night late and I was listening. What a revelation. It was the darkest thing I'd ever heard Floyd do. But the lyrics didn't really resonate.
A wonder what a couple of decades can do to your appreciation of music that you already appreciate....but from a totally different angle.
Like looking at an opal.....change the angle and it sparkles anew with an unique fire.
And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown. And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone. And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around. So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone, Dragged down by the stone.
That's just it....I had the whole collection plus some bootlegs but how i missed Animals.....it must have been that whole punk phase I went through.
But what's cosmic about this thread is that I've been listening to Animals a lot lately....before this riff got started. In particular the Dogs movement. Although Floyd could never be described as punk, this album comes closer than any, IMHO, as Waters' punk moment at least lyrically. Never has he been angrier or as pointed concerning corrupt capitalism. Obviously comes from a socialist perspective.....but as a fucked over capitalist....there is some common ground.
We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
Hard core Floyd here, there are a lot more of us than people think.
I grew up on Zepplin, Skynyrd, Beatles, Who, AC/DC, Allmans, Johnny & Edgar Winter etc. First band I ever saw was a group called Slade. Quiet Riot? did a cover on one of theirs and made a bundle.
Good times...and the best part is, we survived to talk about em ;-)

Amen to that brother....a miracle actually.

That's right ! Funny how that happens. I remember trying to convince my Rod Stewart loving friends that it was Crazy Horse that actually wrote and performed "I Don't Want To Talk About It" before Stewart covered it and made it a hit. The only thing they knew of Crazy Horse was "Hey, Hey, My, My (Into The Black). A great song in its own right (still to this day sets the bar for distortion....You ROCK Neil ! ) but there is so much more to that band and the same is true with Slade.
I raise a glass to your taste in music and to the good 'ol days !
Follow the money. In a time of economic disaster for wage earners, Hanzo discovers a conspiracy among high officials to "borrow" gold from the shogunate's treasury and loan it out to the destitute, including impecunious samurai - exacting either interest payments or family heirlooms from the debtors. Along the way, Hanzo extracts a confession from a ghost using his assaulting methods, foils thieves, connects with Heisuke Takei a friend from his youth, offers protection to a forward-thinking physician Genan Sugino who has defamed his ruler, discovers a pleasure ring of young wives and a blind music teacher, and cuckolds a corrupt official under his very nose
Onibi: You think he's losing his mind? A ghost has no legs. How can he make love to one? Mamushi: She'll grow legs after seeing that giant tool of his.
