Would You Support an Iran War If …

George Washington's picture

Would you support a war against Iran if you knew that:

  • The CIA admits that the U.S. overthrew the moderate, suit-and-tie-wearing, Democratically-elected prime minister of Iran in 1953. He was overthrown because he had nationalized Iran's oil, which had previously been controlled by BP and other Western oil companies. As part of that action, the CIA admits that it hired Iranians to pose as Communists and stage bombings in Iran in order to turn the country against its prime minister
  • If the U.S. hadn't overthrown the moderate Iranian government, the fundamentalist Mullahs would have never taken over. (Moreover, the U.S. has had a large hand in strengthening radical Islam in the Middle East by supporting radicals to fight the Soviets and others)
  • The U.S. armed and supported Iraq after it invaded Iran and engaged in a long, bloody war which included the use of chemical weapons. Here is former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld meeting with Saddam Hussein in the 1980's, several months after Saddam had used chemical weapons in a massacre:

  • The U.S. helped fund Iran's nuclear program

  • The U.S. has been actively planning regime change in Iran - and throughout the oil-rich Middle East and North Africa - for 20 years
  • The decision to threaten to bomb Iran was made before 9/11
  • Top American and Israeli military and intelligence officials say that - even if Iran did build a nuclear bomb - it would not be that dangerous, because Israel and America have so many more nukes. And see this
  • The people pushing for war against Iran are the same people who pushed for war against Iraq, and said it would be a "cakewalk". See this and this

But, still:  390% increase in non-Jewish population.  That doesn't tend to happen if you are ruled over by genocidal maniacs who are determined to destroy you...now, a 99.99% loss of population (the aforementioned loss of Jewish population in neighboring Egypt) does, on the hand, indicate at least some level of hostility to the disappearing population.

They obviously portend that the evil zionista is taking over, afterall ZH IS opposite world.

Mohammed was still the number one baby name in numerous Euro countries last year like the United Kingdom of Muzzville.  Only a complete imbecile can look at a modern map and not see the muzzie taking over the globe.

Those damn evil zionistas their entire existence has served as nothing more than fertilizer.

Actually, it may have always been a Zionist term since Arabs never called themselves Palestinians until there was Israel.  It wasn't like the locals ever ran anything after being under everyone else's rule whether British, Turkish and whoever else.

Did my military service in the 1980's and am entirely unfit for military service today.  But any attempt to argue me out of a position on such grounds is fruitless...eventually, decisions have to be made and those who participate in the decision making may or may not bear the brunt of the results.  Such is the nature of things - though all those participating in the decision should keep in mind those who will bear the brunt.

"True" facts are whatever people like this want them to be.  I'm not saying the "facts" we're spoon fed by the media or the government are much better.

But anyone who thinks Iran doesn't represent a threat of some kind is an idiot.  Threats don't mean we have to go to war, of course.  There are plenty of threats in the world which we live with.

But trying to make Iran out to be a peaceful, loving government is absurd.  They have funded terrorism around the world, make no bones about their support for groups like Hezbollah,  but they haven't started any wars, so they must be trustworthy.

I'm supportive of GW's premise.  War is not desirable, nor can it be supported by the things Iran is doing in their own country.  But trying to make them out to be the good guys and using ancient history to paint the US as somehow the disturbed party is not supportable, either.

Sure, the US has issues.  We've overthrown lots of governments.  We've done plenty of unnecessary and politically ridiculous things in the past.  But we're about on the same level as Iran in that regard.

I won't make judgements on the relative honesty or 'goodness' of either nation's rulers.  Both are insane.

Yea Iran has the power to bring down the evil zionista petro dollar.

That is why when the real threat the euro was created that the US invaded Europe, we all just slept through it.

Magically afterall of these years, despite the Euro's creation and despite the dollar being responsible for just about as much global commerce as 40yrs ago. Iran can bring down the petro dollar!

Fuck the truth.

Who did I shill for?  Reread my comment.

Did I say we should attack them?  No, I argued against it.

On the other hand, "they are surrounded, goaded, murdered sometimes" is inaccurate and absurd in the extreme.  It's also the same logic the Soviets used to justify their moronic behavior on the international stage.  So I suppose you've found a new way to use a poor argument in the modern era?

Good for you.  You're as dumb as the people who made that argument originally.

The insipid nature of this response is worth ignoring.  I said it was absurd in the extreme.  You pick one small piece, focus on it rather than the larger picture, and the small portion which supports your illogic becomes the main, overall point.  Great work.  You're a veritable Obama.

Conspiracy theories are easy to believe because they excuse the believer from having to think things over with care.  Much easier if "they" did it and if only we can get rid of "them", all would be well.  The trouble with conspiracy theorists and utopians is the same:  the haven't the least conception of Original Sin.  If they did, they'd understand that the problems of the world are the result of our sinful nature, not the result of a grand conspiracy and not to be cured by some all-embracing, human solution.  We can only do the best we can, day by day, knowing that a certain part of the population will be lazy, cowardly, inept and foolish...and we must bear in mind that at least from time to time, the person being all these things will be the person in the mirror.

TPTB controlled both Communism and The West.

Thesis, Antithesis, equals synthesis, controlled (by economic power) the outcome.

The new Plan is Islam vs The West. The Final Goal is a world socialist dictatorship, aka "New World Order."

Re-read None Dare Call it Consipracy.

Scheme from book detailing interconnections:

.

This may be the endgame. All power is now in the hands of a foreign national posing as an AMerican in the White House. The Congress is irrelevant. The Reichstag fire was 911. The Enabling Act was rushed thru Congress what, 2 weeks later, and a ll the good "PATRIOTS" signed it. abu Hussein goes to war now without any congressional backup. Dictators don't need it.

They can be defeated, but everyone must expose them to Daylight!

i'm not sure what you mean by socialism (or communism for that matter), but if it's anything like what those dictionaries and encyclopedias mean: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism, we aren't getting closer, we are getting much farther away.

the only socialism on offer that i can see is socialism for the rich: capitalism with sharp elbows and regulatory capture in the bull markets and taxpayer/bond buyer funded bailouts to big campaign contributors in the bear markets.

tell greece that what they're getting now is the road to socialism and they will toss you a molotov cocktail.

Would you support a war against a powerful entity that is aggressively working towards your destruction and denies your right to physically and spiritually inhabit this world?? America has injured this serpent with a stick a few times and even admired it's ferocity and resilience. There is a certain beauty in such strength isn't there? .

This naive fascination the West has with Islam will end one way or another. The fact is, that Islam is stronger than any meme the west has. It could be stronger than the sum of humanity itself. Like a stake driven into a sand dune, it's built to decimate all other memes and penetrates deeper by the day.

Many in the West misunderstand the confidence being displayed by Iran. It's not righteous indignation for past injustices. It is rooted in a calm, spiritual sense of innate superiority. This goes well beyond the threat the Nazis presented and into uncharted territory. Humanity is approaching quite an important crossroads.

If the U.S. attacks Iran, or if Israel does by proxy, it will be about 'regime change' just like when they went after Iraq. It will be mostly because Ahmadinejad is not playing ball the way he is supposed to and wants to trade oil in something other than dollars. I'm sure there are other reasons, but of course the biggies are oil and the $. All those sanctions imposed, I would imagine, are considered as acts of war by Iranians. After all, how would Americans feel if their accounts were frozen by another sovereign.

Thu, 02/23/2012 - 04:30 | 2188205 jeff montanye

imo oil is the "acceptable" conspiracy that the u.s. govt encourages.  makes people not notice that those supporting the proposed war and the current terrorist campaigns against iran have very strong zionist fingerprints.  just listen to the trolls here.  any one talking about oil or gold or dollars?

the iranians would trade their oil for dollars, like saddam would have, if they had both been welcomed into the world economy instead of having had punitive sanctions tightened on them relentlessly.  saddam was a mass murdering dictator of great evil.  the mullahs in iran are not much better.  the sanctions make them stronger, more supported by their people.  has half a century of sanctions gotten rid of castro? no, he started to shift the mantle to his brother when fidel started to fall down from old age.

we'd be better off letting the grim reaper take these evildoers.  he is slow but absolutely relentless.  with the relatively huge populations of young people in the mideast change is going to come.  as they get richer, as a middle class forms (more support for welcomed into the world economy) democracy will occur.  happened in korea, taiwan, most of latin america.  it's slower but it works far far better than war, on average.  ww2 was an anomaly and we are still paying for our victory.

And don't forget Brzezinski's interview with Le Nouvel Observateur, Paris, 15-21 January 1998, where he admitted that it was the Jimmy Carter administration who first began the destabilization of the then-secular Afghanistani government, leading to the future American financing of their worst criminal elements, making up the Mujahadeen, which would later morph into the Taliban (excepting Sheik Massoud, of course, an honorable man who gave his life for his people's freedom).

http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/BRZ110A.html

(Also mentioned in Robert Gates' book, From the Shadows --- and I hate mentioning neocon Gates' name as I'm certainly no fan, but he confirmed what Brzezinski said.)

And now Obama, just like Bush, is manipulating and falsifying the IAEA report data on Iran to "justify" some barbaric attacks upon them.  Not a fan of those fanatical mullahs, but America has killed too, too many innocents abroad....

(It is also highly conceivable that Carter's presidential directive, leading up to their destabilization with the resulting Soviet invasion, led to the Iranian hostage situation as the Iranians would have been well aware of what was occurring on their neighbor's northern border.)
