Spanish Protest Turns Violent

Tyler Durden's picture

Sadly the social unrest that we had predicted, when over 50% of the youth are unemployed and the politicians are navel-watching, has erupted, as angry protesters charge the local police, who in turn are arresting rioters and using volleys of rubbers bullets to keep the crowd at bay.

surely the unemployed can be hired as riot police....  Krugman would approve.

They must be protesting crucifixes in the classrooms.

AlaricBalth's picture

I am surprised the Spanish police have not joined the protesters due to the fact that they just protested pay cuts 2 months ago.

I guess some sadistic bastards just like stomping skulls.

It reminds me of Oakland last year. Police pensions were decimated by the city yet they were still out there bashing the heads of OWS protesters.

There's a fine line between a baton-swinging union thug and uh, a baton-swinging union thug.

Deer Dance - System of a Down lyrics

Circumventin' circuses
Lamentin' in protest
To visible police
Presence sponsored fear
Batallions of riot police
With rubber bullet kisses
Baton courtesy
Service with a smile

Beyond the staples center you can see America
(Lalala lalala lalalala)
With it's tired poor avengin' disgrace
(Lalala lalala lalalala)
Peaceful lovin' youth against the brutality
(Lalala lalala lalalala)
(Lalala lalala lalalala)
Of plastic existence

Pushin' little children
With their fully automatics
They like to push the weak around
Pushin' little children
With their fully automatics
They like to push the weak around

A rush of words
Pleadin' to disperse
Upon your naked walls, alive
A political call
The fall guy accord
We can't afford to be neutral on a movin' train

Beyond the staples center you can see America
(Lalala lalala lalalala)
With it's tired poor avengin' disgrace
(Lalala lalala lalalala)
Peaceful lovin' youth against the brutality
(Lalala lalala lalalala)

Of plastic existence

Pushin' little children
With their fully automatics
They like to push the weak around
Pushin' little children
With their fully automatics
They like to push the weak around

Push the world around

A deer dance, invitation to peace
War starin' you in the face
Dressed in black
With a helmet, fierce
Trained and appropriate for the malcontents
For the disproportioned malcontents
The little boy smiled, it'll all be well
And see the little boy smiled, it'll all be well

Pushin' little children
With their fully automatics
They like to push the weak around

Pushin' little children
With their fully automatics
They like to push the weak around
Pushin' little children
With their fully automatics
They like to push the weak around

Push the weak around
Push the weak around
Push the weak around
They like to push the weak around

Just wait to see what happens in America when they take social security and medicare from those who paid in to it.

Most of these countries in Europe do not have guns like we have here. That's why they have armed guards at the SS office now.

I have even been told they have dudes with riot gear at unemployment offices.  OWS will seem passive if they steal

Social Security from those who earned it. It will be interesting to see, for sure. Yachts, horse dancing and jets for those

who will and can party in Greece, France, Asia, and the Tropics. The rest will be a combat zone. Unbelievable.

Depression II for sure.  Never thought I would see it here. But hey. We had a ten year war that was never paid for. Check please.

I was there last night... Peaceful until they decided to break it up and start firing rubber bullets.

It's all fun and games for the rest of us until the ATM stops working.

Oddly the mega libtard union city cups with Dimtard mayors were the biggest skull breakers with OWS like Mayor Daley's Chicago cop thugs in 1968.

They only protest because of a controversial movie trailer on youtube. Nothing to do with governments.

Yes, that bastion of purity and good. The ECB bond, it's done a lot of good.

MillionDollarBogus_'s picture

Agreed.  The EU experiment is a huge failure in that they have denied themselves the ability to do what Bernanke and Geitner do - buy endless debt by creating endless money from nothing and forcing interest rates to zero.

Japan has done it successfully for years.

What can go wrong...???

Let the bulls losse in the streets

CrashisOptimistic's picture

No, it's not.

This is nothing.

Until snipers start putting bullets in the heads of the elites, nothing will change.  Until bullets start generating blood flow, this is just a bunch of people talking loudly in the street.

Insignificant.

It doesn't matter if the thought is horrifying or if you advocate it.  It's just factual.  Demonstrations can't change the math.  Bullets can because the math arbiter can be killed.

Was just getting concerned about this when CNBC reminded me that I should be worried about the "blown call" in last night's game. Now I feel better.

krispkritter's picture

If you look at the 3rd pic down I think the cops are going to have a hard time putting down any serious rush by protesters.  Once stripped of batons and gear, they're going to get mauled.  I think it's only a matter of time before the protesters resort to the type of violence your vid portrays. Once they cross that line, shit gets really bad for the baton twirlers...

http://www.ibtimes.com/spanish-protests-devolve-violent-riots-795751

CompassionateFascist's picture

I don't much blame the baton twirlers. Historically, they are the key to the whole situation. When the military/police split and begin to turn against the regime - and they will - then the revolution/civil war is on. It'll work the same way in Amerikwa.
