US Foodstamp Usage Rises To New Record High
While the 0.4% perfectly unmanipulated and totally coincidental swing in the unemployment rate in an Obama favorable direction one month before the election came at a prime time moment for the market, one hour ahead of the open, setting the market mood for the rest of the day (which despite all best efforts still closed red, valiant efforts by Simon Potter and the FRBNY's direct pipe to Citadel notwithstanding), there was one other, far more important data point released by the government's department of agriculture, sufficiently late after the market close to impact no risk assets. That data point of course was foodstamps (or the government's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, aka SNAP), and we are confident that no readers will be surprised to learn that foodstamp usage for both persons and households, has jumped to a new all time record.
At 46,681,833 persons hooked on SNAP, the July number crossed the previous record posted a short month before, as the foodstamp curve continues 'plumbing' newer and greater heights each month.
More disturbing is that in the same month, the number of US households reliant on foodstamps rose by a whopping 99,493 to 22,541,744. Assuming a modest 2 persons per household, the increase means that more people went on Foodstamps in the month of July than found jobs (181,000 according to the latest revised NFP data). Furthermore, it appears that buying votes has become a tad more expensive in the past month. After the benefit per household dipped to a record low in April at just $275.81, this has since retraced some of its losses and is now at an inflationary $277.92. Oh well: inflation.
Adding the number of disability recipients in the month of July, which in that month rose by 20,474, and one can see why the government is quite happy with dumping this particular release long after everyone was on their way back home for the weekend.
Finally, and putting it all into perspective, since December 2007, or the start of the Great Depression ver 2.0, the number of jobs lost is 4.5 million, while those added to foodstamps and disability rolls, has increased by a unprecedented 21 million. Oh and about $7 or $8 trillion in debt. Who's counting really.
And this is the real and only key economic statistic of today that nobody wants to talk about, because it is equally the fault of both parties.

The concept is called "adverse possession" and requires you to continually occupy the property for seven years without the permission of the owner in order to gain title to the property. Any leans on the property will need to be satisfied to transfer title from the absentee lanlord to the squatter.
To foil an attempt at adverse possession all an owner, or qualified agent for the owner, need do is grant written permission to occupy the premises to the squatter. This can be revoked at anytime and a application for unlawful detainer can be filed with the general district court in the tenants jurisdiction. If an unlawful detainer is granted by the court an eviction can proceed after a period of time through application for eviction with the Sherrifs office.
I think the best strategy would be squat in many houses by taking possession and leasing the property to unwitting tenants. The law of large numbers might prevail. If you squat in houses, lease the houses to dimwitted tenants and the tenant pays you for seven years you can then evict the tenant (surrogate squatter) and claim adverse possesion. I would think , just to cover all bases, you keep one room in each squatted house to press your claim that YOU have occupied the property for the full seven year term.
Sounds like a career for a high school grad. to squat, then rent houses, let the tenants pay you for seven years, then swoop in in six years and four months to complete the action to gain clear title. Or manage the houses and pose as the owner and rent rooms for income. Write up a lease between you and the owner to get the utilities cut on then burn the lease. Rent the rooms, utilities included. You collect the rent, pay the utilities and after seven years claim the house.
Sound like a plan?

Remove the foodstamps and then question what 22,541,744 would have to do if they want to stay alive? That is the nightmare and they know it.

Bad news for government, unemployment through technological efficiency is a % of a population not an absolute number. So if you were thinking of wiping out 22,541,744 then the same percentage of the smaller population would be unemployed. Rinse ... repeat.
With globalization and a global population your equally stuffed wiping out a billion and you still have the same % problem. It does not go away no matter how many wars you have.
So all those on here thing hey I am alright, not necessarily after the population has been culled a few times maybe your prospects of being culled the next time round has slightly increased.

You are correct. They are stating a .6% drop in unemployment numbers in two months. To have that there has to be a GDP of 4-5% which that number was lowered last month from 1.5 to 1.2, so something is not correct. We haven't had that kind of drop in unemployment in 30 years.
All conveniently before the election...... oh, this same administration asked Lockheed Martin in VA to break a law about notifying their employees about potential layoffs. Then they told LM that they would cover any legal bills if employees sue them...... oh, the layoff would happen just before the election. The legal bills would be covered with our tax dollars.
Maybe it was a heuristic adjustment to factor in the election.

Not directly connected to the post, but standing in line yesterday at Walmart. The lady in front of me looked like she had a bun in the oven, had several cans of baby formula, and used her food stamp card to pay for it. I'm ok with that, a babies need proper nutrition. What I am not ok with was the woman's second transaction--a $7.99 purchase of a box of Marlboro Reds. Moreover, pretty certain she was pregnant as well. (Not to single out the gender, a few weeks ago during my regular morning visits to Wallyworld, a man was using his food card to purchase a stack of ribeye and NY strips, then made a separate transaction for a bottle of Crown Royal). Well, I for the first time said something: "could you please hurry up, because I need to get to work." My point is, the system is FUBAR. Save me all the "your lucky you have a job" or "maybe the smokes weren't for her" shit. I quit smoking because I couldn't (didn't want to) afford it (after smoking much cheaper off brands for awhile). We are culturally and socially dysfunctional. Too many believe that we are still entitled to the little luxuries of life even if we have someone else pay for our necessities. Ok, enough negative, on the bright side, at least Altria (MO) shareholders are doing well. I am done venting and feel much better.
