As Hugo Chavez Wins Presidential Re-election Someone Makes Absolute Killing On InTrade
Moments ago the Venezuelan Electoral Council (one wonders if the term 'Hanging Chad' has a different meaning down there?), announced that with 90% of the votes counted, and an 80.4% turnout, the winner of 54.4% of the vote, and still reigning presidential champion, is Venezuela's Hugo Chaved. This is not surprising. What is quite stunning however, is that someone made an absolute killing in the Chavez reelection contract, which after trading in the 80s range (indicating an 80% probability of reelection), dipped moments ago to the low 20s, following speculation Chavez may be on the way out, only to soar to 99.9 as of the last trade. In other words, someone just made 5x their money on the Chavez vote in minutes, money which has most likely been well spent on Cuban Cohibas by now. Congrats.

not you tyler?
Too bad for Venezuela, Chavez will drive them deeper into poverty even with all that oil.
47% says make the same bet with Obama
The exit polling was 51-48 for Henrique Capriles but it comes out 54-45 for Chavez, that about right. Chavez picked out 55% to 57% as his winning number but cut it back a little when he saw the strong (winning) performance of Capriles.
Whoever counts the votes wins.
In America we have the Republicans must win by 3% rule. If it’s a close election democrats win 100% of the time.
A fucking fraud show.
Pass a constitutional amendment restricting every federal government in the world to 10% of the GDP and be done with it. Government and politicians are useless assholes that are the clown to distract the world from the theft bankers commit, nothing more.
The thugs with the guns that beat the peasants to death for the bankers.
When the fiat dies there better be some mother fucking bankers heading to South America.
"In America we have the Republicans must win by 3% rule. If it’s a close election democrats win 100% of the time."
Hey government contractor aka economics9698, not that I care who wins but facts are facts. W lost the popular vote and won in 2000. The Supreme Court gave it to him. Whomever they want to win, wins.
didn't know econ9698 was gov contractor. makes sense.
He mentioned it in passing several months ago. I'm sure he regrets his honesty, because his ilk gain nothing from honesty. Funny, isn't it.
The 3% rule is called the Al Gore rule. It been used quite often in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington State, Florida, South Carolina, and all over the USA. If you are a republican you must win by 3%. Just ask Norm Coleman or Dino Rossi.
Do they discuss this rule at the water cooler while they hand out government checks to flaming hypocrites? Good to be near the water cooler during such flaming events....
arguing over the internet is like competing in the special olympics
even if you win, you are still retarded
Dewey wins......didn't see that coming!!!
Nobody gave him anything. They followed the constitution. Supreme Court ruled on a bogus claim by Gore. Gore couldn't win his own state of Tenn. for god sakes. Popular vote has never elected the president. Drop the bs.
Then again if your boy loses I'm sure we'll have the same battles only this time Soros has lined up all the secretary of state's with democrat allies.
Go Red Team!
Who decided that RED was to be associated with the republicans when facts and history clearly show it should be the democrats (CPUSA)?
The teevee stations did. Oddly enough, until the 70s or 80s, they had them swapped. Blue was the GOP and Red the Dems.
Meaningless circus, anyway.
There must have been some way to count the votes such the Gore won, but I think we might still be counting today to find it.
Rand that's just retarded. They counted those votes four times and Gore kept wanting a recount. It had to be settled. After the vote was over and the election was passed various third parties recounted the votes and it always came out that Bush was the winner. For the record I didn't vote for nor support Bush but I condemned what was going on because I knew it wasn't good for the nation.
Looking back and researching it I now realize it was all part of ushering in the new world order. They had to make us lose faith in our institutions. A plan they continue with today.
Fuck Rand get out of the red blue illusion and think these things through.
Fuck Engali, M.D. and your $400 aspirin. My point is that the votes don't count. It is demonstrably true that the votes don't count here or elsewhere, as evidenced by Chavez and Bush before him (no, I don't care if Gore won or lost, but facts are facts and anyone who wants change must understand how the system works). As it concerns Bush/Gore, the Supreme Court was sharply divided on party lines so the idea that it was somehow "the rule of law" just goes to show what you all mean when you talk about same.
You are a asshole not worth arguing with. Fuck off and die.
If I die, then you will lose some of the tax revenue that pays your pathetic taxpayer funded salary. You hypocrite ass fuck who upvotes himself.
LOL, not sure why you get downvoted so much letthemeatrand, I always enjoy your posts.
That cat kills in the Catskills.
So does Vera......when she can make it.

"You are a asshole"
Stick an "n" in your asshole, asshole. It's "an asshole, asshole." I guess that even Red Team conservative professors are still fucking idiots, yes?
Uude, don't sugar coat it...just tell us what you really think.
rand reminds me of trav
Yer vote does not count!
The really shocking bit for me (not American) was how in Jeff Bush's Florida in traditional black and poor neighbourhoods (which were likelly to vote Democrat) there were fewer voting boots and they closed while there were still many people waiting to vote.
That and how the code for Diebold machines was never opened to examination by independent 3rd parties.
That was the moment middle America bent over, pulled their pants down and got it good and hard with no lube. That day The Powers That Be got their confirmation that they could get away with anything: all the shit that happened since then culminating in the imminent destruction of the USD as the World's Reserve Currency is just the natural result of that.
Not saying that Red team is better than Blue team, just saying that when you can fix the election the dynamic of how much is it worth to buy someone and how much incentive does that person has to stay bought changes.
A fucking fraud show.
"Former US President Jimmy Carter has declared that Venezuela’s electoral system is the best in the world.
Speaking at an annual event last week in Atlanta for his Carter Centre foundation, the politician-turned philanthropist stated, “As a matter of fact, of the 92 elections that we’ve monitored, I would say the election process in Venezuela is the best in the world.”
Venezuela has developed a fully automated touch-screen voting system, which now uses thumbprint recognition technology and prints off a receipt to confirm voters’ choices.
In the context of the Carter Centre’s work monitoring electoral processes around the globe, Carter also disclosed his opinion that in the US “we have one of the worst election processes in the world, and it’s almost entirely because of the excessive influx of money,” he said referring to lack of controls over private campaign donations."

Will one of the seven and counting people junking DoChenRollingBearing please explain why you're junking him.
I didn't junk him, but I'll answer anyway. The people would become poorer regardless of who won. 400 Americans have more wealth than one half of all Americans, and that has been (roughly) true for 40 years of Red Team and Blue Team back and forth. Chavez says what the poor want to hear like big O. But they all work for their own wealth and the wealth of those who fund them.
I take that back. I just junked the small smooth balls guy for thinking that the other guy would have done anything for the people.
Anybody who votes for somebody thinking they're going to do somthing for them is an idiot. I vote for people hoping they'll get the hell out of the way.
Yes, more power to the oligarchs and medical professionals.
Go blue team !
Wrong, but comforting to you. Now go take some $2 aspirin, and charge my insurance $400 for it while bitching endlessly about Medicare because you can only charge 3 or 4X the actual price of services to old people who have no choice but to see you.
Rand you're hopelessly caught in the red and blue matrix. There is no saving you.
Says the M.D. who is upset because I'm calling out his anti-poor person bullshit. Let me translate what you really think: "there is no point saving [poor people because there's no money in it]."
What in the hell makes you think I'm an M.D. ? My avatar? It's a character from my favorite show when I was a kid you idiot. Johnny Socko and the Flying Robot. I'm a middle class person with a wife and three kids. I can guarranfuckingtee you that I volunteer more time with the poor and those in nursing homes than you could ever imagine.
I don't watch television much, so I missed your Pop Culture point -- hypocrite. But I suspect you are wrong about our relative time spent time in nursing homes. It is possible you spend more time with the poor, but I doubt you do more for them.....
Well you have no clue what you're talking about. Which just proves how stupid you are when you comment about a persons activities when you never met them. My kids and I spend one day a week in each of the five nursing homes around town volunteering our time. I try to stress the importance to my kids of taking care of those in need.
What do you do with your time besides bitch?
And please explain how I am a hypocrite because of my avatar. Which , by the way was never pool culture it's over 40 years old.
Like Mitt Romney, I give a large percentage of my income to the needy. And I have a parent who lives in an assisted living facility with dementia and you can go fuck yourself for trying to compete with that.
A typical hypocritical rich person. Only gives income but is too good to get their hands dirty and give time. Hypocrite... We give both money and time.
I see I hit a nerve.
I give both, but you don't read too good. Fuck you Engali, non-doctor. I moved said parent to my city. Hands are very dirty. Did I say fuck you? No? Fuck you.
Have a good night ... Like Mitt Romney Rand. Some of us have to work in the morning. But don't worry we'll keep it between us that you identified yourself with Mittens. .... Well not really. I'll hold on to that post .
Funny that you don't get the percentage reference. Brilliant man, woman or cartoon or whatever you are.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
He's dead, Jim. Now that was good T.V.
The only thing you give Rand is Bullshit.
More fool you. And if you care so much about your parent, have him move into your home.
I'm going to change my name to "Race Car Driver Rand."
Don't feel too bad. Johnny Bravo used to give me hell for spelling raccoon wrong, which I did on purpose. It never made a dent in his continual accusations, however. Some just get a schtick and get schtuck.
Rand I think you have a great idea for a new business model. You should totally spend all your money and time providing goods and services that you will lose money on, after all you have obviously learned how to live off of rainbows and unicorns.
Poor to the people! Oh wait I mean Power to the people commrade!
I have a business. A successful one. You?
Why do I need to work? I already made like millions of doll hairs from the internetz.
Seriously rand your gonna talk about some business you have like I am supposed to believe you. And believe it or not but I have had "my own business", but what does it matter, this is the internet and I can claim anything I want without having to provide one shred of positive piece of evidence.
I don't believe you. If you ever want to discuss tax forms that only business people know... Well, you won't.
Quit being such a bunch of bitches, bitchez!
http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/Forms-and-Instructions---Filing-and-Paying-Business-Taxes
You mean you can't find those tax forms on the IRS web site? Really, I thought you were smarter than that Rand.
Trolling is not a business.
But being a fuck is a business, TWSceptic? Very successful, I must say. Though like FB, I'm not sure that being a fuck will work out for you in the long term. In the interim, you are a very BIG fuck!
You keep proving my point. You're here to troll. You obviously have too much time on your hands.
... but socialism is.
Speaking of inconvenient revelations, remember me Rand.. Rand is a union busting business who feels her contribution to the small business is such that unions are not allowed in her business, a decision I likely support but the hypocricy in this one is strong. Remember rand...
I suppose those poor workers in the nursing home don't deserve much either as you took all the risks of placing dear Mother ... Rand also believes all wealth left to your children should be heavily taxed or outlawed as your good works should not pass to your children, its unfair, to rand...
When the time comes we will feast on hypocrites, see you in vegas..
Which government agency demanded that you charge me $400 for an aspirin? Or was it the Rover payment that told you to do so? Fucking brits. So greedy....
I'm late to the party, but please allow me to take a crack at this.
If you are a medical facility and serve low income people, then government policy does force such distorted charges, to a degree. Because Medicare and Medicaid, the latter being the worst, pay below market value for services, the price that gets paid by others ends up being higher as a result. It is true that there is no gun to the head of the providers and that the volume of business brought in by accepting these patients helps pay the fixed costs, but in some places those patients make up such a large part of the patient base that it really does skew the calculations enough that the only way the lights can stay on is by charging an absurd amount for services that aren't as closely controlled by the system. Imagine that the prices of getting an oil change was covered by your insurance company and that an oil change company would normally charge people $30 for a typical change. If insurance only allowed the labor charge to be $1 and the price billed for the oil to be another $1, don't you think you'd be billed $28 for an oil filter if it was allowed? And are you really paying $28 for the filter or is that a paperwork issue that makes it stupid to focus on the component pieces? Or to put it another way, when you buy a new car, do you really care if the dealership gives you $5,000 for your trade in and charges you $25,000 for the new care (for a net of $20,00) or "gives" you $10,000 for the same trade in but charges you $30,000 for the same new car (for the same net, of course)? For the sake of this, forget all other external options.
Part of the issue has to do with service code billing. Every little thing a doctor or provider does, has to have a code that is submitted to the state agencies as well as private insurance companies for reimbursement. The bill doesn't simply say that the patient was treated for a heart issue, it lists out every test, every exam, every drug and every other service provided. There are tens of thousands of codes that are very, very specific to what is done, on what body part and by whom. If you need stitches that run for one inch, that's a different code and reimbursement allowance than you'd use for a two inch stitch. yet, if you walked into 100 different clinic with the exact some problem, you'd be amazed at how much variance there would be in the service codes that were submitted for reimbursement. While if you paid out of pocket, that hoop jumping would not need to occur (although it likely would, because the provider is so tied up by contract with the insurance companies, that some costs get passed on to those who don't have that protection).
And, because government policy establishes the service providing monopoly, competition is limited and true price clearing signals are prevented.
In short, rand, it is very complicated and is not at all as clear as paying $400 for a couple pills. Any more than the DoD pays thousands for a hammer.
If you want me to dissect this further, I'd be happy to do so. Just ask. So you know, I own a medical facility, so I am very involved in the day to day of all this. And, no, before you put words in my mouth, it isn't a good system and there are many, many ways it could be better.
point to rand. it's all just for show. in the meantime everybody get ready to get up bright and early to sit in traffic to get to your job to pay some more taxes to feed the beast (after pumping $4 a gallon gas into you car).
Make that $5+ a gallon in California!!!
The people of Venezuela voted and elected Hugo Chavez over Henrique Capriles Radonski. I suspect they are happy with their choice and it's really none of our business. As far as driving Venezuela into poverty goes: who should they have voted in: Obama or Bush? Fiscal sanity? Who is kidding whom? The implication is that Venezuelans are brown-skinned children who need our guidance. That's a laugh. Like I said: Obama or Bush instead?
LOL.
Anyone that waves their hand around saying Bush smells of sulfer and is the Devil gets my Comedic Performance award. For what I can tell, resisting 'Empire' is fatal. Surprised he's lived this long but the days of United Fruit are not quite with us these days (much worse, but not as obvious)... Doing the opposite of what America wants is probably in each country's best interests, so fucking what. It's the same as the Chamber of Commerce. I LOVE seeing their endorsements because I'm assured what to vote against. Are we to expect that any trade negotiation between Amerikka and Venezuela would benefit the person on the street? We're just looking to destroy more food/farming infrastructure of other countries.
When we start worrying about the American people and quite butting into everyone's fucking business around the world, maybe Chavez can be thought of otherwise. Our govt will kowtow to the multinational agenda until there's nothing left. So, whatever, his re-election doesn't and shouldn't mean shit to me.
the fucker's smart enough to get his fizz gold from The City of London( not that it did MoMar a shit bit of good-hey-where is his shiny yellow metal anyway?)
MoMar's was stored in London.
That's why just as soon as the Burrito demanded delivery (from LBMA vaults) that the Allied forces all of a fucking sudden entered Trioli, too over the CBank installed their already newly appointed CBers and "sold gold to pay for fighters salaries and equipment"
Which is the first fucking time Anybody Has Had to Pay for that shit from the West, In the Entire Fucking History of Mankind.
Get the picture?
And it was all 100% reported even in the MSM and everybody just let it go right over their heads.
And I'm tired of reiterating it....
By 1997, Chavez had paid back all Venezuelan debt accumulated by his US-sponsored predecessors to the IMF and the World bank. Sounds like sound policy. But one couldn't read too much of it in the western press. A socialist paying back debts - no! That would only distort the picture.
Only to borrow from Russia and China... but we don't read that either, not on msm anyway.
Russians know how to get their money back... I'm not sure how the Chinese do that.
I would be interested to learn about Chavez' borrowing. Could you provide more information?
Russians know how to get their money back...
________________________
'Americans' know how to do that, too, even better actually...
Sounds like sound policy.

In an 'american' world, it is not. And if confirmed, then Chavez is empoverishing his nation.
Clearing one's debt is empoverishing oneself in 'american' economics. It suppresses your own consumption and boost the lender's consumption. By 'american' economics, it is all wrong.
The way to grow richer in 'american' economics is to find ways always to go deeper into debt, to consume even more.
If confirmed, this stupid bravado by Chavez should be extremelly worrisome to Venezuelans as it means that they are now prime to be shackled with heavy debt, once again, 'american' style.
Never clear your debts in 'american' economics, always try to find ways to go deeper into debts, this is an essential.
(And is probably better for the Venezuelan people than any more bi-lateral agreements with Big Business) - aka "Growth Policies". Call me pessimist but when was the last time you heard people around the world saying, "HURRAY, it's the Americans!!" That's the sad state of affairs and don't believe I don't wish we can get back to doing what's right for the RIGHT reasons.
Too bad for Venezuela, Chavez will drive them deeper into poverty even with all that oil.
"Under Chavez, poverty fell to 31.6 percent at the end of 2011 from about 50 percent when he first took office. Extreme poverty declined to 8.5 percent from about 20 percent over the same period. Venezuela has the lowest level of inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the United Nations."

I am very sad that you're the only person who has pointed this out. For all the bitching there is on ZH about politicians misrepresenting facts, a lot of commenters here aren't any better. Especially as soon as they're talking about something that has the word "socialism" associated to it.
Misrepresentation, propaganda, fantasy are heart of 'americanism', and there is a lot of 'americans', fine specimens at that, on this website.

Speaking of specimens, have you been stirring up trouble on Easter Island by leaving your 'specimens' on the sides of their new roads?

AnAnon - Tekrunner's comment was solid on it's own. Because you mostly spout nonsense or are incoherent, your addition undermines his point. Let good enough be.
By them, it was meant to be 'americans'. Chavez, with his fuzzy dealing, kind of always trying to substract his country's national resources from the 'american' consumption patterns, is the guy who is driving 'americans' into poverty.
The world exists for 'americans' to consume it. Dont stand on their ways, their consumption urge turns them in juggernauts who back down on nothing to get their consumption habits enforced.
Blobbing up can not be surrendered.
The world's roads exist for AnAnonymousitizens to drop stools on the sides, excremeditate, fecalosophize, and pootificate. Don't stand on the roadsides, their defecation urge turns them into juggernauts who squat down on everything to get their excretion habits enforced.
When everyone is shit poor, everyone's shit poor.
I wonder what portion of the deceased population votes in Venezuela and how that skews the numbers?
I wonder if any of the dead from Chicago voted in Venezuela?
ok who are the 30 something imbeciles that think Chavez is good for anything? and yes please explain... bunch of retards.
This is caused by a critical lack of volume, on that market, just like for most of the markets on Intrade.

If anybody thought the outcome would be different they are f...Ing retarded. Another bread and circus side show for the illusion of choice. In a couple weeks it will all be over and Venezuela , like the rest of us will continue the slide down to the bowls of hell.
It had to be timed well be 5:1 betting that the incumbent with tanks in the streets wins??? Who wouldn't take that bet? Tanks trump exit polls every time.
I'd rather have VZ's voting system than ours.

THIS JUST IN:
Air Force One detoured into Caracas tonight to deliver the Venezuelan expat vote from Chicago. Under Venezuelan law, anyone who died during El Presidente's previous 6-year term is allowed to cast a vote in today's election. As a political courtesy, Barack was allowed to vote for his pal Hugo as often as he wanted while on the ground - just to make Him feel "at home".
Barack also extended an invitation to the newly reelected socialist to visit America, and soon. November 6th has been penciled in and voting laws will be hastily reviewed in this country to see what political courtesies can be offerred Chavez.
That is all, Citizens.
