Stabbing Attempt On Finland PM Thwarted
Jyrki Katainen, who has been a staunch supporter of the bailouts needed to save the Euro, while opposing common euro-bonds, has been attacked.
It is unclear if the attack was politically motivated in a country in which the Euroskeptic "True Finn" group collected 19% of the vote in the last election, and in which at least 49% of the population does not want their country to fund any more European bailouts.
Some more from Helsinki Sanomat:
Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen kind of tried to stab Turku, walking on the street for five half time on Monday. Puukottaja got close to the prime minister, but the security guards have time to tame puukottajan before the attack.
Puukottaja was there, to HS's photographer Antti Johansson, according to a long-haired man. The man was taken to police custody in handcuffs Turku.
Turku police confirmed to Helsingin Sanomat occurred.
Prime Minister Katainen was stabbing the company during the meeting with voters in the Conservative Party election cottage in front of the University pedestrian street.
The Prime Minister was taken out of the scene for a while, but he soon returned back.

Perhaps some people don't appreciate being lied to after all.
So let’s see if I get this correct.
The prime minister of Finland is a supporter of bank bailouts and got stabbed.
Good!
Sounds like the Finn brought a knife to a printer fight.
Pro tip for the future. Don't use google translate on Finnish text, it doesn't work. Instead, get your English versions of Finnish articles from the Public Broadcasting Channel of Finland, YLE (http://yle.fi/uutiset/news/).
The point is that the guy told Katainen that he will pretend to kill him.
Mate....don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
My first thought ... sounds like some countries don't allow citizens to own guns ...
Regards,
Cooter
Actually, Finland has one of the highest per capita gun ownership rates in Europe.
+1 nevertheless european politicians have relatively often encounters with insane people armed with knives (example: Schäuble) or even statuettes (example: Berlusconi)
security in europe usually does not have to be very tight. except when an American or French president go around, of course. or the Queen.
Yup. The dude was trying to do an Anna Lindh.
Too bad he did not get this traitor fuck
/sarc and wicked sense of humor (no PUN intended)
Then they watch V for Vendetta and get mesmerized by those flashing blades ...
Can the Police please release him, it was his practice attempt
..better luck next time mate, fingers crossed, we're all rootin for ya
If this happened in the U.S. you would shortly hear calls for banning of blades over 3.5inch, bans on multiple knife purchases and a nickel tax on knife sharpeners.
Another false flaf event. Another peice positioned on the chessboard.
It's much easier to thwart a knife weilding lone madman than it is to stop a good shot. These things don't always go so smoothly.
A false flag event? Based on what evidence? Look, to paraphrase Freud sometimes a knife-wielding loon is just a knife-wielding loon. Not every act of violence in the world is a false flag event, and assuming so is as foolish as assuming the opposite.
Bring an AA-12 and DO IT RIGHT (though you will need $18,000)
(remember this shit at christmas)

That man was stupid and didn't have sisu. A smart, determined Finn would have used a good rifle and saved the puuko for friendly brawling.
Some facts:
1. It was not a serious attempt, but in the heat of the moment newsmedia made it all much more dramatic than what it was.
2. The guy had a quick chat with the PM, and told he had some problems. He said, "I came to play-kill you."
3. He kneeled, took a bunch of cloth, unwrapped it, and there was a small knife. He did not try to hit the PM with his knife.
4. The security guards promptly took care of the situation.
5. Like said, it was not a serious attempt. A guy willing to stab somebody would act in a very different way, and in a similar situation probably would have managed to cause at least some damage.
6. PM Katainen had stepped down from his ivory tower amongst the common people, because there are municipal elections ongoing in Finland.
7. Just check the picture here http://www.ts.fi/uutiset/kotimaa/405151/1/405193.jpg The loonie knifeman is practically handing his knife out to a security guy.
All hail The Revolutionary Nuns!
I want some of that Chinese body guards in blue posted earlier
Here's hoping it becomes a trend.
/and to all the stupids setting themselves on fire... do this instead.
Yep, if you're going to top yourself at least try to take out what erks you on the way
Bumma must be on any students hitlist who promised him "Peace"
I think Homeland Security would be wise to put the Nobel Peace Prize Committee on the suspects list too, they could all seek revenge for Bumma's warmongering thug ways. He's made them look like complete idiots awarding the Prize
Let me guess ... a 'lone nut' ...
A stabbing attempt. How cute.
Well he got the point.....not
An attempted stabbing..sure makes for some good theater anyway.
Rank fucking amateur.
c'mon baby; eat the rich
Please take note:
You don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
I love the Google language translation program:
"And further reporting from sofa bears, unwilling to touch the bad sand paper from Thursday, witness saying..."
what more garbage from GOOfball?
they can't do anything right, Reggie can't see any wrong... spaceman is gonna hit the earth with a heavy bump one day (soon)
Reggie IS a sofa bear, and he's got a domestic to take out the bad sand paper.
Reggie is away with the fairies, probably punch-drunk taken out and floored too many times by those pesky light-footed devious punchbags hanging from the ceilings
In Berkeley, a witness might actually say that.

We all know these politicians are absolute crooks/criminals and their political/justice system will hold nobody to account ...ever.
What do they expect robbing and wrecking nation after nation?
things are hotting up, our call to action will be soon, bring a pitchfork rather than a knife, it reaches further and you get more leverage (always great on bwankers)

on the occupy movement
Difference between Europe and US: when someone attempts an assisination in Europe, the press looks for a political motivation. In the US, the person is labeled crazy as if only a crazy person would want to kill elected officials.
Word is the FBI supplied the terrorist with fake butter knife.
You mean the CIA supplied the knife. The FBI isn't all bad, Hoover fingered CIA asset G.W. Bush for the assasination of JFK.
Pro-bailout politician named Jerky - appropriate. Clearly the Finns need more liberal concealed weapons laws.
"They hate us for our lutefisk!"
Another attempted budget cut thwarted by the Gestapo.
Should have used a bow staff
The oligarchy realizes their choices are limited. Get rid of a few bankers or have millions knocking down your "gated" communities. Which would you pick?
Eskrima!
Anders is laughing in his wood paneled, studio apartment ! It's Monday .... lutefisch again ?
For the record, security officers for the prime minister do not carry guns.
According to "Helsinki Sanomat" story copied here the stabber might even have a name "Puukottaja". Should be easy to pinpoint him and press charges.
LOL! The guy had a better chance throwing a rock than 'knife-wielding."
Throw a rotten tomato and hit the dude in the f'ing face or something. It would make a bigger statement and you'd skip attempted murder charges.
Would probably replay on tv over and over.
And if security is surrounding the douchebag then LOB them.
Shoes are popular...
"Plutocracy Rising: Moyers, Freeland, and Taibbi
I was struck by the comparison that Taibbi makes between post-Soviet Russia and the emerging US plutocracy. I have drawn the same conclusion some years ago, that post-empire America may face the same outcome. The merging of private and state power is well underway. And everyone lost the Cold War, except a predatory few.
Is that too big of a statement? A presidential candidate, Jill Stein of the Green Party, is denied access to the 'debate.' She goes to the debate to protest this peacefully, is arrested, and is then gratuitously handcuffed to a chair for eight hours, just to show her how things are. A Wall Street fund manager refuses to pay a cabdriver his legitimate fare, stabs him, and flees the scene. All charges are dropped by the prosecutor despite the protests of the cabbie. A powerful friend of the President breaks every taboo against stealing millions in customer money, and no one knows anything, and no one is charged.
As they used to say in show biz, you ain't seen nothing yet." jca

False information by the PM's party member. According to eye witnesses and photos, the guy talked about something, kneeled and dropped a knife on purpose on the ground. Hardly a stabbing attempt, but threatening nevertheless.
The news from the National Broadcasting Company (YLE) confirm the above.

The fu***rs are trying to get political points on this.
Ah, just delivering a message then. Very nice.
bugger...

Wow, what a "stabbing attempt"...
Gun rights for Finland!
Apparently we're right on the heels of the likes of Iraq on guns per household. Though no (easy to get) guns for other than hunting.
You know, I almost get the impression that people are angry.....but maybe thats just me ;-)
Sweet. From "The Bridge on the River Kwai":
USE THE KNIFE KID! USE THE KNIFE!
lol.
The FBI probably gave him the knife, just like they give bombs to people they set up as "terrorists".
According to the latest eyewitnesses (several media outlets quote them):
The person waited in liine, shook the hand of the prime minister Katainen and told that he has some personal problems, kneeled and had a kniife on his open hand and asked the prime minister to end his misery.
How the prime minister's party managed to turn a very dramatic suicide assistance request to an assasination attempt, and how the major media outlets around the world copied the first erroneous newsflash from the 'Finnish daily newspaper (that is a strong supporter of the government policies and especially the current European policies) is beyond me.
