Meet Sandy: Single Furious Hurricane Seeking GDP-Boosting Landfall

Tyler Durden's picture

"What's different about Hurricane Sandy and why should we be afraid?" is the anxious question that Bloombergs' Tom Keene poses in the clip below. The answer - it's the size! The wind-field is considerably larger than normal with tropical storm strength winds (as the chart below indicates) extending over a very large area. As we warned yesterday, the storm surge in low-lying areas is the most threatening and the clarity of the problem is highlighted by the graphic below as Sandy approaches the Atlantic coast Monday or Tuesday. With the Atlantic unusually warm (meaning more fuel for the hurricane) and the new moon, the title of the Bloomberg clip says it all: "This is how scared you should be of Hurricane Sandy".

Single Furious Hurricane Seeking GDP-Boosting Landfall

GDP boosting?  No problem, because in our world Government Consumption is considered to be a part of (Gross) Domestic Production.

When your only tool is a printing press, every problem is deflationary.

Never mind all the disgusting chemtrails they've been laying over the S.E. US for the last week. The sky would be clear and blue right now if not for the chemicals (see the pretty rainbows circling the sun with no rain in site!).

and this manufactured storm will get a little help from the moon cycles,

With the Atlantic unusually warm (meaning more fuel for the hurricane) and the new moon,

it's a FULL moon on monday, which will be tugging on the tides, and the humans, for the 3 days surrounding the 3:49pm NY time of exact opposition. . .

of interest to me is the chart drawn for the Full Moon NY has pisces on the horizon, which rules water, floods, disasters that overwhelm the environment, etc.

of course, everyone has their perspectives.  but the sky does share some gov. secrets if you choose to look, eh Race Car Driver.

The 1st Kibbutz (Commune Farm) in Palestine is built  on 9/11/1921.
The Palestine Mandate creating Israel is signed 9/11/1922.
The US Dollar Seal is printed on the $US Dollar by FDR on 9/11/1935.
the Munich Olympic Hostage Crises was 9/11/1971.
the Pentagon began construction (77ft tall, 77th Meridian, flt #77) on 9/11/1941.
George Bush Sr gave his “New World Order Speech” to the UN on 9/11/1990 exactly 11 years before 9/11/2001.
American Airlines Captain Chuck Burlingame in MASCAL excercise at Pentagon, simulated a commercial aircraft hitting the Pentagon in 1990 and 11 years later pilots flt #77 into the Pentagon.
Bill Clinton impeachment papers are delivered on 9/11/1994. A Remote controlled Cessna hits White House 9/11/1995.
Twin Towers are destroyed on 9/11/2001.
Gaza Genocide began 9/11/2005.

Brigham Young ordered the Mountain Meadows Massacre on 9/11/1857.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Besides, it'll come in handy the next time you lose power due to an ice storm.

If you live on the E. coast the worst landfall point for you is usually a bit south of your location since tropical storms turn counter-clockwise.  If the cyclone makes contact with your area between 6 and 12 o'clock (the left side of its circle, not time of day) you will get more of an offshore, not onshore wind and a somewhat lesser tidal surge.

If Sandy makes a direct hit on Delaware as the above map shows I'd say the Jersey shore would get walloped the worst.

But would the storm surge be enough to wash all the hair gel off the Jersey Shore?

I'm listening to Robert Prechter on Schiffradio proclaiming a 90% drop in all indices and commodities as the US hard defaults on it's debt. Schiff is speechless. He is never speechles.

So Robert Prechter believes in a default? A bit loony for the moment, methinks. Did he say a total one or only for foreign-held debt?

The FRN larceny transmission mechanism still has some juice left to extract.  It's the right call, but it's a bit early.  Also, that 90% drop would be in real terms.  Nominal, we'd probably be a 400K Dow.

I heard that three storms will converge here on the East coast - an arctic blast from the north, a storm from the west, and the hurricane coming from the south.

I'll try to link the video:

So, exactly how far below street level is the gold stored in the NY Fed? And with an 8' storm surge on top of high tide how much of lower Manhattan is going to be underwater - with everything below street inundated? And does the Fed have those gold vaults isolated behind waterproof doors, like the compartment isolation hatches on nuclear subs, that can resist all that water pressure from above?

What a wonderful opportunity for the Fed to say to the Germans and all those other idiots who have their national gold "stored securely" with the Fed "Oops! Sorry. It all washed away." Kind of a mega-rowboat scenario like ZHers are always laughing about.

Achtung NY German Consulate - keep an eye out for an unusual amount of armored trucking activity in the vicinity of the NY Fed this weekend.

No worries Bundesbank, for security reasons your gold is being transferred to a new safer location.  Of course it may need to be temporarily stored on a small boat in the harbor.
