The Bread Aisle In Manhattan's Upper West Side Is Now Empty

Tyler Durden's picture

It seems like it was just yesterday that we were posting pictures of empty shelves at New York supermarkets ahead of the epic dud that was Hurricane Irene. It is now one year later, and it is time for the obligatory snapshots of empty shelves, such as this one showing the bread isle at the Food Emporium on 68th and Broadway. Many more coming as all local New York food stores and pharmacies finally sell out their expired and extended inventory.

The bread aisle in the Upper West Side, not to be confused with the bread aisle in post-hyperinflation Zimbabwe...

The stores have warrants for bread, which is being stored in vaults in Brussels and Geneva. Concerns are voiced that these loaves have been leased to third parties and may not be available "on demand". Other rumors have these loaves filled with sawdust.

This is the storm that might take the bankers down a notch or two or at least give them the heeve jevees..............we might have an interesting opening on Wednesday, on the one hand an immediate 1% reduction in GDP but also a massive reconstruction  deferred stimulous after that.

I think DC might be getting a direct hit based on current Hurricane path.....The weathergods have a good sense of humour.

Let's see how well FEMA reacts this time as there will be some serious damage along the path of this beast.
