Job Creation Under Barack Obama: Less Than Meets The Eye?
In the aftermath of yesterday's better than expected jobs number there have been many analyses in the media on both sides of the aisle, either attacking or defending Obama's track record in creating jobs. All have come up with arguments which according to their authors, are solid and defensible. There is one analysis, however, which is missing, and that is a follow up of what we showed yesterday in "Chart Of The Day: America's Geriatric Work F(a)rce." In it we demonstrated the very much "under the radar" schism of America's workforce since the NBER-defined official end of the recession in June 2009 into the "haves", or those above 55, who have been able to get a job since the end of the recession, and the "have nots", or all those in the labor force who have not been able to find a job. So how does this data look when extended to the beginning of Obama's term, or the 46 full months starting with his inauguration in January 2009, and continuing through the latest, October 2012 data point. The chart is presented below; you decide.

And for those wanting a more granular breakdown, here it is by all the age categories tracked by the BLS.
In summary: while those in the 55-69 age group have gained nearly 4 million jobs under President Obama, everyone else has lost just over 2.5 million.
In other words, those aged 55 and over should be scrambling for "4 more years." Everyone esle... perhaps not so much.

That's not an accident.
It keeps everyone investing in the stock market, keeping everyones 401's and pensions solvent.
"In other words, those aged 55 and over should be scrambling for 4 more years." Everyone esle... perhaps not so much."
Tyler, I hope you are trying to be sarcastic. I feel pretty confident in assuming that those over 55 that have jobs are doing so because they have to, because they are willing to take the shit jobs and they are less inclined to accept welfare due to a lack of indoctrination that is afforded the younger generation. Plus a lot of these unemployed younger workers are moving back in with these old workers because they can't find the job that justifies their massive student loan created education.
Amazing how the asshole who wrote this article and the one before it and others like it never mention the wage distribution, hours worked, and in what sectors of all these jobs that have been taken. Are these good jobs, ok jobs, bad jobs, permanent jobs, full time jobs, part-time jobs, jobs with benefits , jobs without benefits, jobs with rigid qualifications or no experience needed jobs. Despite having no grasp of what the data means , a per-defined conclusion is reached that that retirees are coming back in droves , complete with walkers and pushing out the younger workers to get even more money for their Cat Food diets.
What's wrong little TD. ZH not paying any money these days? Someone push you out of the second shift at Mickie D's. Why the anger little TD?
All I see in these graphs is people who's 401K's where decimated had to go back to work & people who work for Walmart and Mickey d's.
People in their most productive years, well your SOL.
Well, it's been clear since 2007 that we're experiencing the spectaclar greed of the Boomers. The Obama candidacy and presidency are all about power-hungry and greedy Boomers controlling even more of American society than they already do. Why anyone under 50 supports Obama, his party, or the whole liberal establishment that is bankrupting the US is a mystery.
It isn't just having to work to make up for fallen 401ks. It's precisely this age cohort that controls hiring in the first place. Everyone else is out of luck.
Am I the only one who wonders how much of the incease n 55-69 year olds is due to people who already had jobs simply turning 55? Come on people, you claim to be smart.
ETA: I was 54 last election now I'm 58. Employed then, employed now. Duh.
You can't be trusted.
Eat the baby boomer!!! LOL
In my opinion, the fact that we even associate the presidency with job creation is the biggest problem with the United States right now.
+100 constantine! I posted earlier about this idea that a president creates jobs.
+1. But they can create jobs, indirectly that is, by reducing the bureaucracy, regulation, spending, gov power, corporate lobbying etc.... In other words they can restore the jobs they already destroyed.
If I wanted America to fail
Regarding the European parasites, we already know. Your special interest groups cannot help you. The international community is awake and sober to the efforts by global transformation. The greater good is to limit the population. Question? Who will go in the next segment? Special interest employees or the general population. Only time will tell.
He gonna do more Ya know !
Barack Obama doesn't care about young people...
China big beal. I am vely dislespectful to dilt! We new landlold so told by your efficient Tleasuly kabuki and big IB man. Shhhh, dont terr Ancient bank seclet.
If your not for Obama then obviously you are a rascist! </s>
Old people shouldn't work. Young people have the right idea.
Lower soc sec age to 57 and you can have my fucking job
Obamacare will kill off the old people, then the economy will thrive.
No SS, medicare, kids will have our jobs, they'll start having more kids, creating the 2nd baby boom.....repeat.
The ECB wants to make the bridge loan permanent. Combining two countries into one and declaring a govern nation. If this manifests itself, the spending frenzy will continue under the Krugman doctrine.
Barack Obama Speech from Berlin, Germany -2008
All I know is that I just came back from grocery shopping.. and had to take out a 2nd mortgage just to pay the fuckin' bill...
Fuck you, Obama..
P.S. Fuck you too, Bernanke...
The choice for president comes down to Doush Bag vs Turd Sandwich.
I am amazed at the lack of bumper stickers in this election.
It seems no one is proud of the choice of candidates.
I think the choice is clear. Turd Sandwich is the obvious winner.
"Oddly" enough, I still see a lot of Ron Paul stickers...
Most of the cars are jacked up on cinderblocks with the wheels missing.
President Hoover, Mr. Chief Justice, my friends:
This is a day of national consecration. And I am certain that on this day my fellow Americans expect that on my induction into the Presidency, I will address them with a candor and a decision which the present situation of our people impels.
This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure, as it has endured, will revive and will prosper.
So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself -- nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life, a leadership of frankness and of vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. And I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.
In such a spirit on my part and on yours we face our common difficulties. They concern, thank God, only material things. Values have shrunk to fantastic levels; taxes have risen; our ability to pay has fallen; government of all kinds is faced by serious curtailment of income; the means of exchange are frozen in the currents of trade; the withered leaves of industrial enterprise lie on every side; farmers find no markets for their produce; and the savings of many years in thousands of families are gone. More important, a host of unemployed citizens face the grim problem of existence, and an equally great number toil with little return. Only a foolish optimist can deny the dark realities of the moment.
And yet our distress comes from no failure of substance. We are stricken by no plague of locusts. Compared with the perils which our forefathers conquered, because they believed and were not afraid, we have still much to be thankful for. Nature still offers her bounty and human efforts have multiplied it. Plenty is at our doorstep, but a generous use of it languishes in the very sight of the supply.
Primarily, this is because the rulers of the exchange of mankind's goods have failed, through their own stubbornness and their own incompetence, have admitted their failure, and have abdicated. Practices of the unscrupulous money changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men.
True, they have tried. But their efforts have been cast in the pattern of an outworn tradition. Faced by failure of credit, they have proposed only the lending of more money. Stripped of the lure of profit by which to induce our people to follow their false leadership, they have resorted to exhortations, pleading tearfully for restored confidence. They only know the rules of a generation of self-seekers. They have no vision, and when there is no vision the people perish.
Yes, the money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of that restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit.
Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. The joy, the moral stimulation of work no longer must be forgotten in the mad chase of evanescent profits. These dark days, my friends, will be worth all they cost us if they teach us that our true destiny is not to be ministered unto but to minister to ourselves, to our fellow men.
Recognition of that falsity of material wealth as the standard of success goes hand in hand with the abandonment of the false belief that public office and high political position are to be valued only by the standards of pride of place and personal profit; and there must be an end to a conduct in banking and in business which too often has given to a sacred trust the likeness of callous and selfish wrongdoing. Small wonder that confidence languishes, for it thrives only on honesty, on honor, on the sacredness of obligations, on faithful protection, and on unselfish performance; without them it cannot live.
Restoration calls, however, not for changes in ethics alone. This Nation is asking for action, and action now.
Our greatest primary task is to put people to work. This is no unsolvable problem if we face it wisely and courageously. It can be accomplished in part by direct recruiting by the Government itself, treating the task as we would treat the emergency of a war, but at the same time, through this employment, accomplishing great -- greatly needed projects to stimulate and reorganize the use of our great natural resources.
Hand in hand with that we must frankly recognize the overbalance of population in our industrial centers and, by engaging on a national scale in a redistribution, endeavor to provide a better use of the land for those best fitted for the land.
Yes, the task can be helped by definite efforts to raise the values of agricultural products, and with this the power to purchase the output of our cities. It can be helped by preventing realistically the tragedy of the growing loss through foreclosure of our small homes and our farms. It can be helped by insistence that the Federal, the State, and the local governments act forthwith on the demand that their cost be drastically reduced. It can be helped by the unifying of relief activities which today are often scattered, uneconomical, unequal. It can be helped by national planning for and supervision of all forms of transportation and of communications and other utilities that have a definitely public character. There are many ways in which it can be helped, but it can never be helped by merely talking about it.
We must act. We must act quickly.
And finally, in our progress towards a resumption of work, we require two safeguards against a return of the evils of the old order. There must be a strict supervision of all banking and credits and investments. There must be an end to speculation with other people's money. And there must be provision for an adequate but sound currency.
These, my friends, are the lines of attack. I shall presently urge upon a new Congress in special session detailed measures for their fulfillment, and I shall seek the immediate assistance of the 48 States.
Through this program of action we address ourselves to putting our own national house in order and making income balance outgo. Our international trade relations, though vastly important, are in point of time, and necessity, secondary to the establishment of a sound national economy. I favor, as a practical policy, the putting of first things first. I shall spare no effort to restore world trade by international economic readjustment; but the emergency at home cannot wait on that accomplishment.
The basic thought that guides these specific means of national recovery is not nationally -- narrowly nationalistic. It is the insistence, as a first consideration, upon the interdependence of the various elements in and parts of the United States of America -- a recognition of the old and permanently important manifestation of the American spirit of the pioneer. It is the way to recovery. It is the immediate way. It is the strongest assurance that recovery will endure.
In the field of world policy, I would dedicate this Nation to the policy of the good neighbor: the neighbor who resolutely respects himself and, because he does so, respects the rights of others; the neighbor who respects his obligations and respects the sanctity of his agreements in and with a world of neighbors.
If I read the temper of our people correctly, we now realize, as we have never realized before, our interdependence on each other; that we can not merely take, but we must give as well; that if we are to go forward, we must move as a trained and loyal army willing to sacrifice for the good of a common discipline, because without such discipline no progress can be made, no leadership becomes effective.
We are, I know, ready and willing to submit our lives and our property to such discipline, because it makes possible a leadership which aims at the larger good. This, I propose to offer, pledging that the larger purposes will bind upon us, bind upon us all as a sacred obligation with a unity of duty hitherto evoked only in times of armed strife.
With this pledge taken, I assume unhesitatingly the leadership of this great army of our people dedicated to a disciplined attack upon our common problems.
Action in this image, action to this end is feasible under the form of government which we have inherited from our ancestors. Our Constitution is so simple, so practical that it is possible always to meet extraordinary needs by changes in emphasis and arrangement without loss of essential form. That is why our constitutional system has proved itself the most superbly enduring political mechanism the modern world has ever seen.
It has met every stress of vast expansion of territory, of foreign wars, of bitter internal strife, of world relations. And it is to be hoped that the normal balance of executive and legislative authority may be wholly equal, wholly adequate to meet the unprecedented task before us. But it may be that an unprecedented demand and need for undelayed action may call for temporary departure from that normal balance of public procedure.
I am prepared under my constitutional duty to recommend the measures that a stricken nation in the midst of a stricken world may require. These measures, or such other measures as the Congress may build out of its experience and wisdom, I shall seek, within my constitutional authority, to bring to speedy adoption.
But, in the event that the Congress shall fail to take one of these two courses, in the event that the national emergency is still critical, I shall not evade the clear course of duty that will then confront me. I shall ask the Congress for the one remaining instrument to meet the crisis -- broad Executive power to wage a war against the emergency, as great as the power that would be given to me if we were in fact invaded by a foreign foe.
For the trust reposed in me, I will return the courage and the devotion that befit the time. I can do no less.
We face the arduous days that lie before us in the warm courage of national unity; with the clear consciousness of seeking old and precious moral values; with the clean satisfaction that comes from the stern performance of duty by old and young alike. We aim at the assurance of a rounded, a permanent national life.
We do not distrust the -- the future of essential democracy. The people of the United States have not failed. In their need they have registered a mandate that they want direct, vigorous action. They have asked for discipline and direction under leadership. They have made me the present instrument of their wishes. In the spirit of the gift I take it.
In this dedication -- In this dedication of a Nation, we humbly ask the blessing of God.
May He protect each and every one of us.
May He guide me in the days to come.
Along with Lincoln, Wilson, LBJ, Carter, and Obama, one of the six worst presidents of all time.
"You use your mouth purtier than a $20 whore."
Mish Shedlock has a good presentation in his interview by Capitol Accounts posted on Global Economic Analysis.
Guys you've got it all wrong the REAL reason we MUST vote for the Messiah is that he thinks the federal government has a role to play in disaster relief ... Just like Romney ... And Bush ... Oops.
PS: Just as the elderly and boomer voters who plan on voting eithr More of The Same or Same-Old Same-Old, the youths who plan on doing so can be divided into 2 categories: the complacent (ignorant and dangerous) and the complicit (informed and malicious). Dupes or Quislings, all of them, every one. Likewise, I hope they all die before they do any more damage; it is not a question of if, but when - Tuesday is when. Coming to their defense makes you an apologist - an imbecile or an Uncle Tom.
Consider: what would you do if your neighbors knocked on your door and said "we're holding a vote to determine how much of the products of your labor we are going to take by force, you get one vote."
Apologize for these parasites at your own moral peril. No one is holding a gun to any voter's back saying "vote or I'll shoot!", there is no convenient boogeyman/strawman upon which to deflect the responsibility/accountability and blame. Fools brainwashed by the political machine are not innocent, that is the beauty of voting - no evasion of responsibility, each vote is a clear statement of intent to use force to separate you from the fruits of your labor. Do not become another victim of the Golden Horde and their sordid lies.
Same thing crossed my mind; "useful idiots" (Joseph Stalin), or vicious partisans. In any event, be prepared.
A vote for someone you don't really want is the only "wasted vote".
All the efforts of politicians, government, central banks etc are focused on saving banks instead of targeting job creation which is the only way economy can recover.
Jobs can be created by initiating the following :
Replace the top management of the too big to fail banks, put the existing ones in prison and charge them with fraud and misrepresentation. Break the banks into smaller ones so that they are no longer a risk to the whole financial system. Implement the Glass Stegall Act.
Use the reclaimed billions of dollars from the arrested bankers and use them to improve the infrastructure of the country. This would create jobs instantly and the improved infrastructure would give the confidence to the small businessman to hire more people.
Tax the richest 5% of the population heavily as they no longer create jobs in the country but outsource the jobs to the low cost developing nations. Stop completely the funding of election candidates by corporates and rich individuals so that their influence on politicians to make rules beneficial to themselves is clipped.
Stopping speculation and derivatives in commodity markets would reduce their prices substantially which would be beneficial to the majority of the population. This would lead to a better standard of living for the middle class families and they would go out and spend helping the revival of the economy.
But in the real world we can keep on dreaming.

The parents can not retire with boomerang kids in the house that can not get a job after majoring in 4 years of booze, sex, and soft courses.
Sure they can, if they are willing to let their daughters to be whores and sons to be drug dealers. I guess that is Amerikan Family value in the ocming years. The chick already lost her virginity to over a few hundred guys in college and Spring Break, might just continue the tradition.
I posted this on a Seeking Alpha thread, responding to a young male Libertarian who tried to rewrite history and blame the 2008 Market Crash on President Obama's election:
That is simply revisionist history.
The Market crashed in the late summer of 2008, well before the Election.
And it did so largely because Ninny Puppet McCain - who was unable to think for himself - listened to Larry Kudlow, Arthur Laffer, and the rest of the Dollah! Dollah! Dollah! crew, who were pushing the exact same Kool-Aid they are pushing now so shamelessly.
This year, we have an extremely different set-up.
Market participants in most of the World are rooting for an Obama victory - just as they may well root for an SPD victory in Germany next year - because most want a highly-coordinated Rolling Worldwide Stimulus to keep occurring until the entire World is back on a Growth path again.
I agree that the Obama-ites should compromise on Capital Gains - and there is an easy way to do it, which they should have used at the time of the last Big Compromise two years ago.
They need to raise the bar on what is considered "rich" and make their targeted tax raises reflect it.
The cut-off for "rich" should be $5 million minimum, maybe even $10 million.
That way you capture what the US population really wants - which is some punishment for the hedge fund managers, LBO people, and others they consider aren't "earning" their money, just stealing it from everyone else.
But you don't penalize all of those who actually are working for a living - or investing seriously - in the "marginally affluent" contingent.
Making the cutoff $5 million or $10 million allows doctors, dentists, psychologists, college professors, small business owners of all stripes, family farm owners, small factory owners, small restaurant owners and local retailers and owners of average car dealerships - plus all those sorta retired people in Florida and Arizona and Southern California who trade and invest regularly in a small way - to keep more of the money they are actually working hard to earn.
In other words, it's the definition of "rich" that has really gotten us into this divisive mess.
As most will remember, I pumped very hard two years ago for a sensible compromise cut-off point that would encourage Centrists from both parties to move rapidly towards serious horse-trading and consensus-building.
And frankly - wink, wink, nod, nod - I think sensible and rational and logical people from both parties have in mind exactly the sort of compromise I have outlined above, which is what will allow us to avoid the "fiscal cliff" much quicker then some believe.
Let me add that in terms of the Generational Warfare some have been overtly trying to inspire - the Parties' inability to horse-trade and compromise has caused it!
The key group, as I have tried to explain here and elsewhere, is not Millennials nor the Elderly, nor the Absurdly Uber-Rich nor the many New Poor.
The key group that will pull us out of this mess is and has always been the 10 or 15 percent, the majority of them Baby Boomers, just below the "One Percent" - which is more accurately "the One Percent of One Percent."
It's the Affluent But NOT Rich - many of them, as I said in the previous post, either professionals or small business owners of various kinds or semi-professional traders and investors - who are REALLY the job creators who can set the tone for returning Growth and Optimism.
And they generally want just two things: a Bull Market and a Recovery in Home Prices. Literally, just those two things, and they will start hiring again strongly, as they always have, because it's in their best interest to do so.
Think how many people a successful small-town or suburban doctor's or dentist's office employs. 20? 30? sometimes 40?
Or a successful Main Street restaurant or retailer or car dealership.
Or a prosperous small assembly plant or farm.
As for getting us Boomers from taking your desired managerial jobs within corporations, Millennials, just let our home prices recover and our portfolios recover, and we will happily all move to the Sun Belt and spend our time doing nothing but trading and having fun.
If you think the above is largely facetious - it isn't. I'm dead serious about every word. As well as 100 percent right.
"let our home prices recover and our portfolios recover" - that is the fed's goal with QE after all. however those prices seem to be only nominal, since the price of everything else is going up too. what you're saying is "blow up the bubble again, and i'll retire" you obviously have no idea how money creation works or anything else. typical narcissistic boomer. you'd send the millenials off to war and tell them to be grateful the have a job. you are retarded.
Let me be perfectly clear - it is the INTENTIONAL making of the majority of the electorate DEPENDENT on government, a dependency that is the very fruit of horse-trading and compromise between parties, that has brought us to the precipice... blindfolded.
I agree Walter. This guy is out of his gourd. "Recovery of house prices" Who is going to pay for these higher home prices? Obviously it didn't work the first time and led to a financial crisis that still continues, so what on earth would make one think forcing higher home prices (through manipulation coincidentally) is a good idea? Oh that's right the Fed and the banks. Yes let's have people pay more for their housing so they have less to spend on medical care, food, restaurants, cars, etc. You are one of those selfish boomers who wants to pawn your overpriced shitshack off on the younger generation before the rest of the old herd does. Maybe the boomers should have saved more money during their working years instead of partying it up the whole time.
Bullshit Degrees prepares Amerikan woman to be whores and men to be Metrosexauls . Yeah get in touch with your feeling bitchezz.
If you're older and/or bureaucrat you're doing ok under Obama. For others this is the weakest recovery (?) ever and may not even be seen as one in the future.
Fuck, Chalky sotero, and fuck mittens willard III.
Chew on this. Do any of you ZHers realise how many people live week to week? Pay check to pay check? Ebt cards? Dole? Social security?
Every week, week in, week out. Paid straight into the good old bank? Anyone of you ZHers given a thought to what happens when the good old ATM, or the good old EBT card stops working?
People living hand to mouth, week in, week out. Give it a thought, one day these here ATM's and EBT ain't gonna work friends.
What then? You think average joe is gonna give two fucks about R or D?
Chaos is what mixy says.
Biblical Chaos
It takes so much money to survive these days even as a single person -- no wife, child, parent or even pet to support. I add up all my monthly expenses and it comes to around $6,000 a month. I also owe around $7,000 in unpaid taxes which I am trying to figure out a payment plan or either to file BK on unsecured debt to allocate more money to pay off the taxes
It sounds like you are living a lifestyle which is well beyond your means if you are a single person and are struggling to get by on over $72K/year.
What HASN'T Obama lied about, and why do idiots think "obama and Romey are EXACTLY THE SAME"?
And why do these lying idiots and gimps profess that a vote for Ron Paul is not a vote for more Obama?
How stupid are you?
And the stupid morons call me names.....lmao@idiocy
Most sheeples have no idea other than what theu see and hear from the MSM. Nuf said. The Kids who graduate from College can work at the Apple Store since they dearly love the product and make Apple rich . Dumb fuks breeding dumb fucks. welcome to Inbred fucking Amerika.
Most of those kids are rich (speaking from what I have seen around the Boston area) -- you know all these kids from the top 1% or 2% of families who are paying $60,000 a year for their college experience, they do it because it is fun and probably for the discount on Apple products
The chart shows cumulative WORKERS added,
NOT cumulative new JOBS added.
How much can be explained by the demographics of the increasing numbers of baby boomers moving into a higher age bracket?
More info is needed before any conclusions can be drawn.
This appears to be another misleading statistical half-truth, along the lines of the CPI, the unemployment rate, the Pentagon budget, or taxed incomes.
"How much can be explained by the demographics of the increasing numbers of baby boomers moving into a higher age bracket?"
Actually very little. A quick look at the age groups above as they correspond to general population (2010 numbers) show the 55-69 age group corresponds to ~22% of the working age population whereas the 25-54 age group corresponds to a much larger ~58%. At the very least there is a disproportionate increase in the cumulative workers added in the 55-69 age group.
An offside - I recently had an argument regarding employment numbers with an Obama supporter who dismissed my concerns about the labor participation rate by insisting that it was due to "boomers retiring". These numbers suggest that is not the case.
huh?
"At the very least there is a disproportionate increase in the cumulative workers added in the 55-69 age group."
Your above remark would seem to agree with what I wrote,
and yet, you instead prefer to make up irrelevant objections.
My remark about "how much could be explained" by the demographics referred to the chart presented in the article.
It is rather disingenuous to pretend I intended demographics to explain anything else, whether the unemployment rate or the Pentagon budget (examples were only mentioned as illustrative of other statistical fabrications).
Your insinuation that I was contending that the low labor participation rate is due to "boomers retiring" is especially far-fetched.
Overall job creation may be down, but The dictator has his welfare programs booming. Is this the true America or are we evolving into Communist Cuba?

<<<America's workforce since the NBER-defined official end of the recession in June 2009 into the "haves", or those above 55, who have been able to get a job since the end of the recession, and the "have nots", or all those in the labor force who have not been able to find a job.>>>
Actually it is the opposite. Younger people (under 30) with college degrees in a tehnical or scientific field seem to have no trouble finding well paying professional job. Those who are over 40 (or worse over 50) are the ones who are having the most trouble finding work due to contrived reasons ("overqualified", "not a good fit", "will be bored in the position") .
Regarding why younger people flock to Obama -- easy most are somewhat or very liberal and almost all vote democrat --- you know there is also the "white guilt" and deperate to prove to others that they are not racist.
You were doing good until the "white guilt" deal. Then you put on your right wing tin foil hat.
The reason there are no jobs is THERE IS NO DEMAND. You can not buy stuff on part time wages with no credit. It's all very simple.
Butt , butt, I thought the Wingers think that old folks should work until they are eighty. Make up your fucking mind. Wingers make me dizzy and is why you clowns are the Losers.
People should work until they no longer need to eat, or until savings can cover living expenses. Giving "old people" other's production doesn't make us special, it just makes us broke-er because we can't collect enough tax revenue to pay as we go, so we steal from the future to keep today's elderly comfortable until death. With what will the future care for its elderly?
Maybe you "lefties" shoud revisit the Trillion-dollar-per-year-deficits-in-the-forseeable-future economic stimulus model.
Yep it's the old folks fault that the Fed has ripped off SS for over 2 trillion and the price of health care has ripped off America for 11 or 12% per year for a couple of decades as wages have been frozen. Fuck a bunch of wingers.
A guy holding the faith in government as you do, and as dependent on government as you are, needs to be asking, "Who put those folks into office who raided SS?" Or how about asking, "Who reaped the benefits of the spending of the SS surplus over the years?"
Or, just Google "Hypocrisy."
"This nation cannot succeed without a growing middle-class". Obama just said you are doomed.
There are 314,159,265 ameriecans who want change.
