After The Flood Comes The Freeze: "Tens Of Thousands Need Housing" Says Cuomo, As Nor'Easter Approaches
First the flood, now the freeze (and the lack of fuel and gas and heating just making it much worse). And for tens of thousands of residents of New York and New Jersey this means that as many as 40,000 will need to find alternative housing, especially ahead of Wednesday when a Nor'easter formation is expected to hit the Tristate area and bring even more freezing rain and cold to the region. From Reuters: "Tens of thousands of people affected by superstorm Sandy could soon need housing as cold weather descends on the state of New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Sunday. Cuomo, in a televised press conference nearly a week after the storm hit the U.S. East Coast, said the fuel shortages are improving but problems will persist for "a number of days."" Elsewhere, and also from Reuters: "Victims of superstorm Sandy on the U.S. East Coast struggled against the cold early on Sunday amid fuel shortages and power outages even as officials fretted about getting voters displaced by the storm to polling stations for Tuesday's presidential election. Overnight, near-freezing temperatures gripped the U.S. northeast. At least two more victims were found in New Jersey, one dead of hypothermia, as the overall death toll from one of worst storms in U.S. history climbed to at least 112. Fuel supplies continued to rumble toward disaster zones and electricity was slowly returning to darkened neighborhoods after a storm that hit the coast last Monday. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said it would be days before power is fully restored and fuel shortages end."
All of this will be exacerbated as a Nor'easter moves along the Eastern Seaboard and is expected to hit New Jersey and New York in several days:
A "significant" nor'easter is likely to hit Sandy-battered areas of the Northeast by Thursday, the National Weather Service said in an update Sunday.
FEMA and Red Cross officials have ordered more resources ahead of the storm, while New York City is dealing with a shortage of fuel oil and steam to heat buildings as temperatures began dipping into the 20s and power remained out for hundreds of thousands.
At the very least, the service's prediction center stated, there is "a very real possibility of heavy rain and strong winds along the coast from Virginia to Maine."
Snow is likely in the interior and some models "do bring some snow all the way to the coast as far south as Virginia," it warned.
That all of this is happening two days ahead of the presidential election is merely adding to the chaos:
President Barack Obama, neck-and-neck in opinion polls with Republican challenger Mitt Romney, ordered emergency response officials to cut through government "red tape" and work without delay to help affected areas return to normal.
Officials have expressed concern about getting voters displaced by Sandy to polling stations for Tuesday's election. Scores of voting centers were rendered useless by the record surge of seawater in New York and New Jersey.
New Jersey is allowing voters displaced by Sandy to vote by email. Some voters in New York could be casting their ballots in tents.
An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released on Sunday found that 68 percent of those surveyed approved of how Obama handled Sandy and just 15 percent disapproved.
"I'm not thinking about the election too much right now," said Frank Carrol, 59, a retired New York City transit worker who lives in Staten Island. He planned to vote, but did not know if his local polling station would even be open. "We'll stop by and see what happens," Carrol said.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie ordered county clerks to open on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate early voters and ensure a "full, fair and transparent open voting process."
And while most appear content with the crisis response to date, with the apex being Mayor Bloomberg's cancellation of the marathon due to massive popular outcry (we are confident all those who spoke up are now taking part in the recovery efforts), the DOE just announced that 25% of New Jersey is still without power. This led to Martial Law being declared in the town of Seaside Heights which has been totally destroyed, as we showed in the Hurricane Sandy before and after satellite pics.
We expect more regions of NJ to be declared uninhabitable in the coming days as the situation continues to deteriorate.

Yawn...
Always trying to change subject, wonder why?
97-98% of real climate scientists agree on what the data says... Cherry picking time series and finding one dissenting scientist is not going to change that... (Remember Albert Einstien never accepted quantum mechanics...)
Why don't you head back to Galt's Gulch and hope the ever increasing intensity of rain doesn't result in a mudslide that washes you away...
http://www.globalchange.gov/publications/reports/scientific-assessments/us-impacts/full-report/national-climate-change
This is merely an argument from intimidation/appeal to popularity.
You are wrong, read the fine print on that fallacy...
You routinely also make an appeal to authority, so we can add that one too.
You are allowed to appeal to authorities when they ARE AUTHORITIES on the matter in question...
When discussing string theory I am allowed to say "Ed Witten says so" whereas I cannot "Because Donald Trump says so.."
Capeche?
And I suppose that you'll be heading to the North Pole to cohabitate with Mr. and Mrs Claus and their elves. Remember that James Lovelock, whom you equated with a white wizard of the modern era, said that in less than a hundred years the population of Earth will be reduced to double digits. Funny guy.
More strawmen and red herrings, you are a regular one man bullshit show....
You don't have the balls to discuss OHC, do you? Too inconvienient for your world view eh?
You have not yet explained why the climate models failed to predict that warming would level off even as atmospheric CO2 content rose over the past fifteen years. But I guess that's why you want to change the subject yet again.
It is interesting to see that you refuse to defend Lovelock despite your designation of him as a white wizard of the modern era. I guess that his alarmist clap trap is beginning to sound phony even to deniers like you at this point.
So, what is the trend since 1992, 93?, 94?, 95? Why are you so fixated on 1998?
Cherry picking the data for reprentating 3% of the overall signal doesn't fool anyone....
All you have is to endlessly change the subject, I don't give a fuck about Lovelock...
Lets discuss Ocean Heat Content? You don't dare do you?
Heat had been added to system at the rate of 2 Hiroshima A-bombs a second for the past 50 years.....
The total amount of heat is around 2.1*10^23 Joules or nearly 60,000,000 TeraWatt Hours.
As linked above:
Won't touch that OHC... will you?
Same old discredited puff pieces...
Show me the lack of a statistically significant trend here in Table 1
http://skepticalscience.com/nuccitelli-et-al-2012.html
Flak, it looks like might have a protege here in PUD.
With an avatar like Flakmeister and an attitude to match he's gotta be a paid troll and a queen of the boiler room
Yeah, ok, whatever...
The best is when I get accused of being a Jew here....
PUD "That MET report has been soundly discredited if you were to investigate further."
ALL UK Met Office reports have been soundly discredited if YOU investigate further.
As one of the Govt crone junk-science centres of excellence for trumpeting bullshit for the past 20+ years almost nothing they've produced to support the AGW garbage has any validity
You have zero credibility on this issue and parroting more bullshit ain't gonna change that....
troll
I have the scientific concensus and have been defending it here for nigh on 3 years...
You have the trolls confused....
Piltdown man, is that you?
Faking data, yep, that is right up your alley...
What global weather events?
There's been floods & droughts forever across the entire globe, whether there was anyone there to document them or not.
And just what do you propose to do in order "to fix" these things that have always been?
So many of you just can't seem to get your arms around the fact that it isn't that these events happen or that they happened in the past...it is about the frequency, intensity and rate of change. We've had ice ages too and episodic warmings but over hundreds of thousands of years not decades. That is the fundamental difference and why the impacts on a vastly more populated planet are and will be so profound. There is nothing anyone can do about it now..it's too fucking late.
Its too late?
Well, party on Garth...fill some sand bags or sumpin.
Too late? Damn. What happens to my carbon credits?
Whaaa? The Carbon Credit Exchange set up by Goldman & Al Gore has gone kaput?
It was supposed to be another fiat currency or sumpin...just damn, what are the odds ;-)
Just as a simple observation, changing the premise of the argument from "global warming" to "frequency, intensity, and rate of change" appears, at the very least, to be a retreat and retrenchment. In my experience, this is always at the expense of credibility and ultimately, likely, a desperate attempt to salvage a failed theory.
Half the thread is crying because were flooding the nation with immigrants, the other half is crying because we apparently somehow screwed with the weather with our global warming and were all going to roast - but it couldn't possibly be the cyclical activity of the sun and it's radian output? But then if there are too many people and we are all going to roast isn't that a rebalance of the geometric parabola of exploding populations? So what is the problem then? It will all rebalance, or are the global warming crowd simply fear based that their in the 'net' too?
So grab your favourite snack and sit back and enjoy the show...
Tax you, of course. They'll tax you to reduce the release of CO2 at the same time that they tax you to build highways, prop up the auto industry and fight wars for oil all of which increase levels of CO2.
Yeppers, makes for one happy elitist, crony capitalist cabal.
When they start video conferencing instead of burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel to go off to exotic locales like Bali and Cancun...and drop their limos for Volts & Prius'...I'll start taking it (and them) more seriously.
And the winning comment of the day goes to...
Ta Dah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm waiting for the smug ones to switch to 100% renewable sources to generate the electricity to charge their hybrid vehicle batteries. And pay for it without robbing everyone and giving the money to their incompetent cronies in the form of non-recourse loans from which 0% will ever be recovered by the taxpayer/robbery victim.
I'd suggest they do it the free-market way but that's just mean.
Hey nmewn, not that I am trying to cause trouble or anything, but downthread the flaky one is calling your white, hateful, cracka ass out!!! Wants you to drown or something...
Yes, you are ;-)
It is not "fixable"..... and these "things" have not always been, an example would be the opening of the framed long sought after Northwest Passage (since the days of the Vikings, Henry the VII and Captain Cook ) in 2009.
So while we can sit here and type on our computers and disagree on what is really happening, the die is cast and there is nothing we can realistically do to change it. Are children and grand children are so fucked.
yep, they're going to die sometime.
Go fuck yourself...
Do you think that in 1938 they would be discussing the extra-tropical characteristics of the storm?
Compare the barometric pressure of Sandy to the one in 1938 and get back to us...
"Go fuck yourself..."
ROTFL!!!...back off the coffee and put down your video camera there Flakey, it ain't gonna happen, its physically impossible...you sayin we had manmade global warming in 1938 too?
You are a twisted hateful fuck....You were one of the assholes bellittling Sandy because it was "only" a Cat 1, you demonstrated that not only are you hateful, you are ignorant as well...
As for the "argument" you posit (and I use the term very loosely), I am surprised you never had your place burn down with all the strawmen you construct....
Today I will turn up my furnace in your honor.
Was at a neighbors house this am who has power. They had food and drinks out. About 25 people were there. The homeowner yells out "Hey I got one rule in here, No talking polotics, lets keep this civil....that especially goes for you fucking douchebag liberals!"
Another prize for the best comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Especially you fucking liberals"
Notice that the fucking liberals were the guests, and the conservative guys was the prepared host.
When one is so fixated on determining what is right for others (and commanding to act in conformity therewith), one might lack preparation for himself.
@ Flak "Compare the barometric pressure of Sandy to the one in 1938 and get back to us.."
I'm not sure about 1938 but how about 1977?
"The barometric pressure of Hurricane Sandy bottomed out at 27.76 inches, coming close to Hurricane Gladys in 1977 which holds the record at 27.73 inches"
Comment? Yeah I know, you want me to fuck off, I'm a piece of shit etc etc.
Do you have a point?
Or are you trying to rehash old strawmen?
I have a question, who signs your paycheck as yu are a professional troll
Pretty sure I asked one of you hysterical chicken littles to explain the Cat 3 in 1938 with regards to manmade global warming...still waiting.
I'm gonna go burn some gas to add a little more CO2 to the atmosphere and give you a chance to collect yourself and your thoughts on this.
And by the way, there is quite a history of storms FOR CENTURIES coming up from the tropics and hitting the NE you might want to check into...good fucking luck with that...I'll be back.
That dog don't hunt...
And Flakmeister is a cunt...
Oh my, you hurt my feelings....
Speaking of cunts, why don't you slip one over your head and get someone to fuck some sense into you....
You're funny, but I'm sorry I don't think we're laughing WITH you.
Man-made climate-change believer: "So you see, weather conditions are more severe because of the increase in CO2 in the atmosphere released by man's ongoing burning of fossil-fuels."
You: "So you're saying there was no weather before we started burning fossil fuels? Derp derp!"
How to Construct Strawmen for Dummies by Blund R Dog.
I'm just documenting the work of the experts around here. Maybe I misunderstood mnewn's point.
Can you explain his argument? It seems to me that he's saying there were storms before we started worrying about AGW (or ACC or whatever you want to call it), which means AGC doesn't exist.
Did I get that wrong?
No you didn't... That is exactly what he was arguing...
Yes, yes, but perhaps it's a mistake to assume that's what he MEANT to argue. He's not so good with the "thinking" stuff, or putting the disturbances inside his brain into *words.*
I'm always happy to listen to a clarification or amendment to the original argument. We ARE creatures of constant change, after all.
You people have more acronyms than the MIC...lol...AGW I know, as it was a way to get around the "Ïnconvient Truth"...now what the hell is ACC & AGC?
Do you guys form up working groups & committies to market the latest and greatest catch phrases for this lunacy fed to the population or is it just a back scratching journalism kinda thing...like..."Öhhh, thats clever Rolph, lets use that!"
You pick the acronym, I don't care, I'm wondering if you're clear enough to discuss the CONCEPT involved. My goal has always been education, so I'll help you out here:
AGW = "anthropogenic global warming"
("Anthropogenic" means "caused by man.")
ACC = "anthropogenic climate change"
AGC = typo by clumsy blunderdog's toes (you think YOU can type expertly with your toes?)
So, rather than worry about the terminology....were you arguing there was no weather before we started worrying about mankind's contribution to climate change? Or did you mean something else by bringing up the hurricane of '38?
(I'm confident I know the answer, but I'd like to see you confirm or evade the question a bit longer. Thanks in advance!)
"...were you arguing there was no weather before we started worrying about mankind's contribution to climate change?"
Of course I wasn't. I was pretty clear there has always been storms, hurricanes even impacting the NE. I picked 38 because it was a Cat 3 and 38 was, in fact, waaay before YOU started worrying so much about the weather.
But tell me, Bloomberg has been a proponent of AGC/ACC/AGC...fat toe...lol...for all of his ten year "reign" in NYC mayor. Really believing in his perception of reality...why didn't he do something proactive to mitigate the flooding and what is he going to do to prevent/mitigate it in the future.
You are assuming BIG GOVERNMENT is the answer to the percieved problem right?
Government is *never* going to handle reconstruction/cleanup as *efficiently* as the individuals who are directly involved.
However, an EFFICIENT cleanup performed by people who have no resources may take a lot longer than an INEFFICIENT cleanup performed by folks who have money, gasoline, electricity, etc.
So I'd say there's a tradeoff between the government getting involved and leaving everything to the charities and refugees. A specific issue (such as the fallout from this storm) should be evaluated on its own merits. I don't think the BIG GOVERNMENT bogeyman is compelling here.
Even though I acknowledge BIG GOVERNMENT is its own problem, I remind you of your hypocrisy on this point:
You pretend you don't like BIG GOVERNMENT, but who else is going to do that drug-testing of unemployment recipients you wish for? Who else would prevent doctors from performing abortions in your dream-world?
You think there's a profit-motive to cover that sort of thing?
Well, again, as I have said countless times...I'm not an anarchist.
You say...
"Even though I acknowledge BIG GOVERNMENT is its own problem, I remind you of your hypocrisy on this point:
"You pretend you don't like BIG GOVERNMENT, but who else is going to do that drug-testing of unemployment recipients you wish for?"
Never said that. You are ONCE AGAIN...trying to put words in my mouth that I NEVER said like Flakey above. There should be some sort of internet keyboard electric shock transmission therapy for that...lying. Many things at the federal level can be done more efficiently at the state and even local level.
I have said...if you are a ward of the state, meaning subsidized housing, food stamps, ObamaFawns etc...basically seeking taxpayer money to ameliorate your suffering...the taxpayer should know he is not subsidizing your recreational habits.
By the way...I don't agree with drug testing for employment either. I don't use drugs (anymore) by the way. However, if an accident occurs on the job, drug testing can be a requirement of service for keeping your job. Probably makes me some sort of rightwing nut case huh? ;-)
"Who else would prevent doctors from performing abortions in your dream-world?"
My dream world? Because I disagree with the premise?
I don't have a problem with Sandra Fluke getting an abortion. Its my paying for it that I really have a problem with. She (or her banker family, yes, its true) is paying fifty grand to go to Georgetown University. She can afford her own birth control pills and/or abortions.
It gets right back to people being responsible enough to NOT cause societal issues like this doesn't it?
Given we've now clearly departed into the historical record of bullshit (and no one deserves to hear it again), I'd want to be clear:
Why'd you bring up the hurricane of '38?
"Why'd you bring up the hurricane of '38?"
It was a Cat 3. Stronger than Sandy, meaning lower barometric pressure than Sandy, happening before AGW/ACC and fat typing toes...as Flak didn't want to come back to it after throwing out that straw.
I gave him a break, it happens. He cut me some slack on an inside baseball term once.
I'm gonna eat some chilli now, forgive me ;-)
As usual. you clearly miss the point..
BTW, bullshit on the pressure....they were for all intents and purposes, identical...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Sandy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England_Hurricane_of_1938
The 38 storm was a classic Cape Verde storm... Sandy was a blob of convection in the Caribbean that only came to be the largest storm ever in the Atlantic because of factors tied to AGW...
Oh, I should point out, too: Bloomberg is mayor of an incredibly efficient city. NYC uses far less fossil fuels per capita than your hometown in Florida.
Maybe his volunteer work as NYC's mayor is his long-term contribution to reducing the threat of AGW. Not that that makes him any less of a bastard, of course.
At the price of unionized labor to bring in energy I'm not the least bit surprised.
But the high price is great for the end consumer, wouldn't you agree? ;-)
and I will throw a strawman into the fireplace to keep warm
nmewn...
That was during the initial phases of the Industrial Revolution when horses were being supplanted with uh mmmm ah... and in any case it was the sharp decline in horse farts did it.
Man made....
No shit.. or that's what did it, no shit.
I wouldn't shit you on this, either.
I'll take HAARP and Chemtrails before I'll take AGW.
Methane!!!...lol.
I'm gonna go blow some leaves into a pile so I can burn them ;-)
I like that "twisted hateful little fuck" stuff.
Pithy, right to the heart of the issue.
not sure Flakmeister gets to the heart of any issue, his bias, twisted temper and hate of man usually prevents him seeing any fruther than a red mist
I'd wondered if I was the only one sensing that....
Man its warm in here today...
In the words of FM... Fuck you... I am freezing my ass off..... lol
FM is having a bad time in NYC and may be venting a bit.... I usually enjoy reading his blogs but he in a bit of a rant mode today... I am sure that there are a lot of unhappy people in NYC right now.
Nope... just calling out the hateful pricks here for what they are...
NWMMVMVW is classless piece of trash... No different from a holocaust denier, only difference is the cut of the suit...
Holocaust denier? When have I ever denied that? It really REALLY happened Flak.
You and BD are creating enough strawmen tonight to keep the NE toasty warm when they get set ablaze...watch the CO2 though ;-)
Do you know what craps more methane than a horse- a rice paddy (and the worldwide acreage follows the hockeystick chart of human population). Then there's the whole ocean thingy, bit since that's too big to ponder- man has sacrificed I think 3% of the world's surface area in the past century to construct water resevoirs behind dams (to irrigate those shit stinkin' rice paddies)
funny thing is, you don't need a paddy to grow rice in quantity, just a wetland.
of course, many of the wetlands are now residential real estate.
funny.
From what I've seen so far on your short 8 weeks here, you would do well to avoid the gold threads.
Hi Pud,
Money is money. It doesn't need backing.
Now, if you meant that the fiat currencies need backing, then yes they do.
Fiat currency can be backed up with land, property or money.
(USA is backing the dollar with the worlds largest army. Good luck with that.)
Money is gold or silver. (According to six thousand years of history and not Bernanke.)
Darth
Money has to have intrinsic value. Fiat needs to be backed. On this I am in total agreement. Where I disagree is on the notion that gold be that element that backs it. Far better that it be backed by a broad basket of real world commodities where-by a unit of money is equal to a given amount of real world goods that are actually critical to human life. A unit of money=so much grain, fuel, labor, etc. Diversification is critical and the linkage to real things that have real value and meaning to real people is what would make for a stable monetary unit. I find it so odd that I should get critiqued for this obvious improvement over a singular gold backed money given the basic uselessness of a yellow metal to human affairs
A currency that is to be successfully backed by a commodity or commodities must be redeemable in those commodities in order to ensure the link between the paper receipt for the commodity and the commodity itself. I really can't see folks going to the bank and withdrawing loaves of bread or barrels of oil.
That is true but it would not be practiced obviously anymore than gold redemption was. The fact that it was backed lends the needed confidence.
There is no way to confirm that a currency is actually backed with a commodity without the possibility of redemption. Trust but verify.
Also note that you can't sequester huge volumes of perishable goods in order to provide backing for a currency. Backing a currency with perishable or consumable commodities could only operate as a paper scheme as those goods would lose the utility which gives them value if they were kept in a bank vault rather than being made available for use by consumers. Using perishable or consumable commodities in this way would also cause major swings in the price of those commodities. Food and energy prices would be subject to the supply and demand issues associated with money such as interest rates and liquidity in addition to the natural supply and demand factors involving those who need to eat food and burn fuel. It would be a nightmare.
It doesnt matter what you say to him. He doesnt understand it, or he refuses to see it.
This has been explained to him at least 4 or 5 times in his 8 weeks here at ZH.
Hi,
I wish the general public were as interested in what money is and should be.
I think Puds' idea is more for stable money, which I agree is a good one. The basket of good idea seems to be good but may really only be an indicator of a currencies value. As crockett points out, we need something else to back the currency. Crockett doesn't mention gold but gold would serve the purpose he describes.
I hope my interpretation is reasonably accurate.
Governments like deficit spending. So don't expect stable money until that is stopped.
I vote gold for the backing because for six thousand years humans have valued it. Also an ounce of gold 6,000 years ago would still be an ounce today, it doesn't perish.
Gold is either completely useless, a barbaric relic. Or it is a store of wealth.
Fiat currencies are either completely worthless bits of paper. Or they are a store of wealth.
The decision rests with the people. Govt & banks can't fool most of us forever, surely?
Gold has worked in the past and could work again. I'm with Ron Paul on his call for the legalization of competing currencies through an end to legal tender laws and a withdrawal of taxes such as the collectibles tax on that which individuals may chose to use as money (gold and silver). Under the competing currencies plan any and all types of money could be market tested and folks could go with the system with which they were most satisfied or mix and match at will.
Hi Pud,
Yes, I have to agree. I like your thinking.
Gold is the money of kings and countries. It can be transferred as full and final payment. Still, we haven't got enough of it for that! sarc
Your idea has a lot of merit for people who aren't Kings. I would also link it to gold so as you could store this value over a lifetime and then exchange it for the perishables as you require them.
Excellent idea Pud. Room for gold too?
Max Keiser got people hooked on silver only to slide in his AGW global warming agenda. No one seems to call him out on his propaganda.
He has been called out on it. That and his socialist tendencies. Watch all the down arrows now.
AKA Climate change=Weather.
Stop the PC bullshit or go post elsewhere.
Very factual well supported argument o'master of the comment board. It is a climatological fact that broad weather patterns are affected by the status of the arctic. We have seen record ice melt and subsequent rise is sea temps that cause these "weather" phenomenon like unusual blocking high pressure. It would behoove you to do your research before opening your pie hole.
Please include in your statement the subsequent rise in the offset ice increases in the Antarctic. Perhaps a read of the Electric Universe will help you out dear sir. Perhaps the earth is acting more like a battery and the weather phenomenon is more directly a function of what is actively taking place within the earth's core than observable above ground weather patterns.
Would you like to discuss the *volume* of the Antartic ice and the combined polar totals?
Perhaps, you are just a blowhard fool pulling ideas out of your ass.... Look up Dunning-Kruger, look in the mirror and get back to us...
You can see epic climate change any day of the week, just go to the Iraqi desert ...it goes from 40+ when the sun is out to -2 to -4 freezing cold desert at night when the sun is gone
i've put in bold 2 clues what effects our weather and our temeprature on earth, a microscopic trace gas known as CO2, doesn't even get a word in edgeways on the juggernaut that is the suns impact on Earths temp
and there's only one atmospheric gas that's worth looking at that effects temp, that's the the varying between 1-5% content of water vapour (clouds etc). All other gases are pure futile trivia to persue (a speciality of the eco-loons and Govt funded crony scientists)
Wow, somehow you figured this out while all the leading climatologists missed this... You should write a review article....
Dunning-Kruger mixed with a touch of narcissism...
Give it up, the more you type of this, the more ignorant you will show yourself to be...
Flak, twas climate change that actually set-off my own very lengthy investigation into the topic many many moons ago and got me blogging. Back then I was very concerned about climate change, back then I was like you and PUD-the-spud here, an ignorant moron pumped full of Govt funded crony junk science hysteria
the more i investigated and the more i blogged the more all planets (truth) lined up against the hystercial non-stop lying of Govt funded crony junk scientists
i'm not saying Govt funded research is bollocks, i'm saying it's total and utter bollocks with bells on
just ask the IPCC Chairman Dr Pachuari, a railway engineer who never wears his bias on his sleeve, he just wants eevryone out of cars and into buses and, yes, you guessed it, trains. Not like him to peddle some hysterical research to gain Govt grants for his own research project ...though that appears to be the biz model of all Govt funded junk scientists, fueling their own careers
"sustainable development" indeed ..peddle any old bullshit to keep your cushy Govt job... let's talk about another high priest of the Govt green (goon) squad, Al 'cannot-stop-lying' Gore, next yes?
I think this kinda says it all
"A staggering 68 percent of registered Republican voters stated that they believe demonic possession is real. Meanwhile, only 48 percent of self-identified Republicans believe in another equally if not more scary natural phenomenon: climate change.
The poll was conducted by Public Policy Polling, touted by NPR as “one of the most prolific polling outfits in the country.”
So tell me ZG are you one of the 68% of the Republicans that believes in Demonic Possession and not climate change??? <lol>
Hard - no i neither believe in the climate con, nor demons, green or otherwise, nor republicanism
all man-made bullshit
Next question?
I am not a Republican. I believe in neither gods nor demons. But I do understand that while the climate models predicted that steady warming would accompany increasing levels of atmospheric CO2 the data from Berkeley and East Anglia show that while CO2 continued to increase over the past fifteen years temperatures have stabilized. Thus the models failed in their predictive ability.
Care to put a tangential spin on that?
Lets discuss the rising OHC over that period, kay?
Start here

or for a free copy....
http://www.skepticalscience.com/docs/Comment_on_DK12.pdf
How could changing the subject change the fact that the models predicted increasing air temperatures with increasing CO2 and that didn't happen?
@ Flak You quote a paper titled
"Ocean heat content and Earth?s radiation imbalance. II. Relation to climate shifts”Lets discuss who this paper was written by:
Every single one of them has a financial vested interest in "Climate Shifts" being real.
Do you practice being ignorant?
No, they don't have a vested interest... They'll get paid no matter what the science says, hint: they did not get hired because of AGW, he got hired and found AGW as part of their job...
You should talk to the Munich Re guys and see what their opinion is as they *do* have a vested interest in the issue (but NOT on the profit side of the ledger)....
Flak, "Do you practice being ignorant?"
No, that's Govt's job.... and credit where it's due, there's been no bigger village on the planet either.
So you see no conflict of interest in Govt institutions, funded by Govt, underlining with 'research' what Govt policy is (wants)?
Same goes for scientific (cough) institutions like the ever more shill, exposed and political Royal Society in Britain?
Tell me how dangerous is a 1 Degree change in Earths temp over 100 years when the Iraqi desert goes from 40* by day to -4 by night?
How dangerous is sea level change of 1cm in 100 years to man if a beach crab can deal with a 6-12 ft tidal movement in a day?
Finally how dangerous is a CO2 level from its current 385 parts per million to say 1,000 p.p.m if that's what agriculturists already do in greenhouses to promote plant growth?
You do know CO2 is a microscopic trace gas, benign and beneficial to plant growth and greening of the planet yes?
Indeed CO2 rise to 1,000 p.p.m. would actually be massively beneficial to all crops globally in terms of increased harvests. No threat, all benefits. We Love CO2, the plants do too, I wouldn't want you to feel not in touch with either mans best interests, the plants of the worlds best interests and like an out of touch deranged eco loon that hasn't a fucking clue what they're whining about.
You are almost beneath arguement when you offer stupid shit like this:
What fraction of the GHE is C02 responsible for? What fraction of the atmosphere is GHG? What was the average global temp the last time C02 was at 1000 ppm?
One for you: What fraction of zooplankton die if the ocean ph changes by 0.1 units? How much has the ocean ph changed in the last 40 years? Where do oceanic zooplankton sit in the global food chain?
There's still time to move in with Santa Claus. Why stand around arguing when your white wizard James Lovelock says that 7 billion will die this century with only a dozen or so survivors at the poles?
"So you see no conflict of interest in Govt institutions, funded by Govt, underlining with 'research' what Govt policy is (wants)?"
I don't think the Austrlian and Canadian governments are believers in AGW. Conflicts with the resource-extraction profit models.
hardcleareye pud flakmaster - Fuck you. Marxist scum. I came here to be entertained not to read your fuckin global warming shit. Go to Fox.com or CBS. This is ZH. You are a child. You are taking up space. Nobody likes you. You are shit. Go fuck yourselves. Liberal Faggots.
I had no idea that the standards to get an account here had slipped this far...
Tyler, you need to, perhaps, consider a literacy test for new posters....
Flak, you're scientifically iliterate but don't let that stand in your way... like all eco-loons you have a belief system and no matter how many lies and junk research are exposed, no matter how many high priests of AGW are caught out on the science you're going to keep on believing your bollocks peddled by bullshitters and by the institution of lying toerags, that pile of corruption and junk, Govt
you're keeping the best company you can, with the other human scum at the bottom of the barrel
Peace & Love pea brain
You truly have no shame...
And clearly no scientific acumen.....
Zero,
Flakjerkoff has all the traits of a professional troll. starve the beast. jack off can threadjack all he wants with that AGW bullshit we'll focus what a complete troll he is.
Perhaps you should do a little looking up yourself...http://blog.chron.com/sciguy/2012/09/does-the-expanding-antarctic-sea-ic...
Good link...
"The bottom line is that scientists generally have predicted that the Antarctic sea ice will not begin substantially melting until the second half of this century."
Oh good, panic over, i'm off out to burn some petrol and tear-up a couple of turkey Toyota Prius'suses
Good for you, have fun with that..... no need for you or I to panic, that will come for our grandchildren.
And if you are stupid enough to by a Toy Pris you deserve to get torn up (your wallet that is...) my every day car is a old diesel Smart car that gets 75 to 80 mpg in the city... of course you can't buy those in the good old US of A.... air emissions issues don't you know, or so they say..... lol
I love CO2 ...airbourne plant fertilzer, greens and grows the entire planet
I love temperature rise ...that promotes plant growth too across the planet
The sea level isn't rising, I holiday in the Maldives, the watermarks are clearly dropping.. but even if it was rising man has greater capacity to deal with it, 1cm in 100 years, than a beach crab who can deal with a 6-12ft tidal move in 24 hours
Only hysterical ignorant morons and corrupt Govt crooks would piss their pants over these benign changes to our planet... i hope your Grandchildren don't catch your delusional fearmongering. Take a pill or something Grandad
Now you are in the "Just make shit up" mode....
Edit:
http://www.climatedata.info/Impacts/Impacts/Impacts/maldives_sealevels.html
"of course you can't buy those in the good old US of A...." calling Mr. Smart : there were no lines for diesel this weekend. and the ones who really knew the deal were running on WVO. get your lobbyists out right quick, especially if JObama is selected. don't forget, bribery's much cheaper in the New World :)
if you export, they will buy.
"...It is the result of climate change and the record melting of the arctic ice sheet which has changed the jet stream causing a large high to sit over the far north enhancing these coastal lows..."
I thought it was Bush's fault?
Please...enough with global warming and climate change
Yes, relatively complex ideas seem to make your head hurt...
Try sticking your head in a bucket of water and holding it there for a few minutes, that should help...
Lead by example. Forsake all non-green products, services, and lifestyles. Maybe you can join the Eskimos or some other community matching your desired level of technological development and economic freedom? Or maybe move to Mars, very very low greenhouse gas levels there!
How the fuck do you know how I live?
Anyway, shooting the messanger don't change the message....
It is a result of some changes in the ocean current which has moved warm water up closer to the arctic. The icecap over antarctica is at an all time recorded high. Please remember global means global, not local. Sandy was a redux of the 1938 hurricane in some regards. Do you blame "global warming" on that one too? With increased urbanization of the living space, thermometers are recording higher temperatures in urban areas. Fairly simple really. A person uses energy. That energy goes into the environment. More people, more energy. Of course, removing the earlier natural surroundings and putting asphalt and cement in place doesn't help either. Given that I did my PhD at a well known engineering college at the interseciton of Mass. Ave. and Memorial Drive in Cambridge in something having to do with global temperatures and radiative transfer, let me assure you, the "global warming" science is mostly an effort by the rentier class to rip people off.
Incorrect. The sea ice at part of Antarctica has expanded but the land ice is shrinking. The sea ice expansion is because the land ice is sliding into the sea due to less friction with bedrock and lubrication factors from melting ice. The total ice volume of Antarctica is in fact shrinking. Please do your homework.
You need to provide links.

The 1938 hurricane didn't make a left turn and was so devastating because nobody knew it was coming.

Always wondered when a North Eastern exodus to Florida would start, due to high fuel prices and lots of cheap, empty housing available in Florida.
Must be more than a few considering that now...
So I should wait another year before I sell the condo? And jack up the price 30%...
Depends on how high you see Au going up in the next year, now doesn't it???
I will offer a discount for gold.
Way ahead of you there.
Several snowbird clients of mine have already told me they
selling up, and moving down for good.
when are they trucking down Harvard, Yale and the rest of the poison ivy league?
if not, then you are kinda full of it no?
As long as the wind up in the hanging chad districts of south Fla I could care less...lol.
They don't have any bugs down there either, never gets above 75 degrees or below 60, speed limit is 35 everywhere, great hospitals and infrastructure...its a regular paradise on earth ;-)
LOL! You left out the fact that there are no snakes either, or wild boar that will rip your fuckin guts out...
It's New Yorka Rica between Gainsville and Kissimmee now, then it turns into Mexico again for 100 or so miles and then Nicaragua/Haiti and then Steinville, finally Miacuba and the Florida Keys turn pink with a tinge of pot smoke.
Is this because they now enjoy hurricanes so much that they would like to experience the next Cat 5 that hits Florida?
there any mountains in FL?
Winter has not started yet. FEMA trailers aren't going to cut it in the NE. Give it a couple of weeks and we're going to see huge numbers of people on government busses heading for refugee camps in Florida - not all of them voluntarily. Plenty of work in the orange groves - can't have those refugees living free off the government. They should be happy to earn $10-$12/day, plus room & board. As for the sick and the elderly, well, sacrifices have to be made, don't they.
Well *someone* has to be liquified and fed intravenously to the children.
Work? you cannot be serious. The last thing any real farmer wants is a whole troop of monkeys breaking limbs, eating the profits and shitting in machine shed.
The fucking handouts will continue as before, on your dime, my dime, anyone who's stupid enough like us TO WORK. Until every last drop of blood is gone. Until we all are forced to live like they do. It's the everybody wins because that's fair mentality, now at the steering wheel of our future.
As far as trailers go, we have plenty in these parts, and it gets a hell of a lot colder here than NY/NJ. Besides, there's plenty of feel good progressive efforts for the leeches like Warm Hearts, WIC and Compassionate Friends to counteract the one part that Darwin got correct.
Wow... suggest you take this online Psychopath Detector screening test and be guided by the results....

FEMA should activate the camps they claim don't exist.
President Barack Obama, neck-and-neck in opinion polls with Republican challenger Mitt Romney, ordered emergency response officials to cut through government "red tape" and work without delay to help affected areas return to normal.
This is hilarious, only during times of distress is our "system" refered to as red tape. During "normal" times (or when the majority) have the least to complain about, creeping statism is accepted as healthy and good for ourselves.
I am sure that both are adept at strangling everyone in mountains of red tape adding more useless legislation to existing useless legislation and size of the government boot, and just as inept at being able to "cut through the red tape" without offering sizeable payouts to the agencies/groups involved.
MOAR red tape!
I shivered just thinking about it. It feels warmer at -30 C in a dessert than at 0 C surrounded by water.
robertocarlos: I like my "dessert" chilled, especially if it's ice cream.
Sorry, just had to poke some fun at you for your desert mispelininliduyhfiohf reference. I even had to add my own misperljfladfjlsd fuck up to confuse us even more.
No problemo. I laughed now too.
I remember in grade four feeling bad when all the other students laughed out loud when I said the rain-forest was wet and dry.
