Israeli War Game Does Not See Attack Of Iran Starting World War III

Tyler Durden's picture

It would appear, based on the latest war games from Israel's Institute of National Security Studies, that we should all go back to sleep and not worry about the impact of an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear infrastructure. The reason not to worry is simple - either it ignites World War III (which we presume means it will be all over very rapidly and we will be blissfully unaware until its too late to be capable of achieving anything) or - as they suspect (and gamed out) - there will be a focus on 'containment and restraint' with Iran unable to ignite the Middle East. The result is predicated on 'actors' motivated by rational considerations; which seems entirely irrational. All the gory details below...

War Game: The Hours following an Attack on Iran’s Nuclear Infrastructures

The Policies of the Actors and Principal Insights

The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) held a war game (simulation) focusing on the first 48 hours after an Israeli aerial attack on Iran’s nuclear infrastructures.

The Scenario

After midnight on November 9, al-Jazeera reports that Israeli airplanes have attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities in three waves of attack. As reports multiply, Israel officially announces it has attacked Iran’s nuclear sites because it had no other choice. According to the scenario, Israel did not coordinate the attack with the United States in advance, and only informed the US once the planes were already en route to the Iranian targets. Initial assessments estimate that the Iranian nuclear program has been set back by nearly three years.

Following the successful attack, Iran decides to react with maximal force, launching  radical elements – to attack Israel. Nonetheless, it is careful to avoid attacking American targets. Israel attempts to contain the attacks and works to attain a state of calm as rapidly as possible. The international community is paralyzed, largely because Russia tries to exploit the situation for its own strategic objectives. At the end of the first 48 hours, Iran continues to attack Israel, as do their proxies, albeit to a lesser extent. At this point in the simulation, the crisis does not seem to be close to a resolution.

Main Policies of the Various Actors

Israel: After achieving its operational goals, Israel showed restraint in the face of provocations and reactions by the radical players spurred by Iran. In parallel, Israel conducted an additional aerial attack to complete destruction of one of the major targets in Iran. Israel’s strategic objective focused on preventing regional escalation and achieving as fast as possible a level of events that was controllable and of low intensity.

The United States: Although not informed before the event, the United States clearly stood by Israel’s side and did not expose its differences of opinion with Israel, in order to present a united front against any possible regional escalation. The United States demonstrated willingness to return to the negotiating table and even relax the sanctions, provided Iran showed restraint and in exchange for an Iranian declaration it was ending its military nuclear program. The United States decided it would take military action against Iran only if Iran were to close to the Strait of Hormuz or attack American allies and assets in the Gulf. Similarly, the United States activated economic measures to control the rise in oil prices.

Iran: In light of the outcome of the Israeli attack, Iran felt it had no choice but to react strongly and militarily against Israel, launching some 100 Shehab missiles right away (and another 100 in round two) at Tel Aviv, the Negev Nuclear Research Center in Dimona, and various cities. Iran also pressured its proxies to act against Israel and launch rocket and missiles at Israeli targets, as well as engage in multi-front acts of terrorism. At the same time, Iran appealed to the international community to grant legitimacy to its enrichment program and revoke the sanctions against it. At first, Iran chose not to attack American targets and assets to keep the United States from joining the fight against it. But the more Iran felt it was cornered and its freedom of action was curtailed, it realized that its strongest card lay in acting against America’s allies in the Gulf and closing the Strait of Hormuz.

Russia chose to promote its objectives in the Caucasus and Europe. Russia also viewed the attack as an opportunity to position itself as the leading actor in the international community because of its ability to communicate with all the actors involved. However, the gap between the US and the Russian positions led to a paralysis of the international community’s ability to act. In turn, and in the absence of American leadership, China, with access to all the relevant actors, became a key player on the international field. Syria preferred to focus on its domestic upheaval, maintain a low profile, and not be dragged into combat against Israel.

Hizbollah found itself in a quandary. On the one hand, Hizbollah came under heavy Iranian pressure to begin a massive launch of missiles and rockets at Israel, this being the “day of reckoning” for which Iran had furnished Hizbollah with 50,000 missiles and rockets. On the other hand, Hizbollah was wary about causing heavy damage in Lebanon yet again. It therefore chose to respond to Iran’s demands selectively by launching rockets at Israeli military targets, especially airfields and active anti-missile defense systems. Israel’s restrained response intensified Hizbollah’s dilemma and supported its decision to attack to a relatively limited degree and focus on military targets.

Hamas chose to walk a fine line by demonstrating some commitment towards Iran, while making sure not to provide Israel with an excuse for a large scale attack in the Gaza Strip. Hamas’ limited ability to control rogue and radical elements in Gaza was evident, and Hamas was forced to ask the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt for help in restraining the  rogue elements it lacked the power to control. The other actors – Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, Turkey, and the international community: Each chose to operate on the basis of its own particular interests, distance itself from the events, and prevent widespread regional escalation.

Insights from the War Game

a. The war game staged the first 48 hours after the attack. The intention was not to predict developments, rather to examine the significance and implications of one possible scenario. The players acted very rationally, demonstrating preventive policies and motivated by crucial interests alone, and ignored domestic and external constraints.

b. The Israeli actor assessed that the Israeli public possesses the stamina and fortitude to absorb the blows because it was convinced that for Israel, this was a war of no choice that had achieved is operational goals. The policy of restraint was based primarily on this assumption.

c. Iran has only limited tools and a limited ability to hit Israel directly, and therefore must operate its proxies against it. Iran has tools that are more relevant in the Persian Gulf sector, capable of hurting American interests and causing global oil prices to spike. Nonetheless, Iran clearly understood the cost it would have to pay should it ignite the Persian Gulf, especially the United States joining the fighting. This would only incur greater damage to its nuclear infrastructures and greater destruction to a wide array of quality targets in Iran.

d. A successful Israeli attack with clear cut results and the meeting of the operational objectives would lead to two contradictory trends: on the one hand, Iran would be obligated to respond militarily and via its proxies; on the other hand its dependence on proxies would allow deterrence of the relevant actors and insertion of a wedge between Iran and its regional allies, thereby preventing regional escalation and encouraging containment.

e. Two other important elements likely to help contain the events are America’s clear resolve to stand with Israel and a restrained policy on Israel’s part, especially if the strategic objectives of the attack were met in the initial attack.

f. The simulation again raised the disadvantage of having no access to Iran's Supreme Leader and the limited levers of influence. In general, it became clear that there are no reliable lines of communication with the Iranian leadership. While Russia cannot serve as a credible channel for dialogue, it emerged that China may be capable of serving as a mediator.

g. In planning the exit strategy and a mechanism to contain and mitigate negative developments, Israel cannot rely on the international community. It is highly probable that the deepening of the divide between the United States and Russia would paralyze the international community. Some of the players on the international arena would like to see Israel "bleed" in order to pay for attacking Iran, regardless of the interests of others, and to restrain its actions in the future. If the crisis were prolonged, it could generate unintended consequences with the risk of regional escalation. Efforts by regional and international elements to end the event may involve a cost to Israel in the area of arms control.

Conclusion

When the simulation was planned, it appeared that the fall of 2012 would be a critical period, and therefore it was decided to examine the possible developments subsequent to an Israeli attack. This sense of an imminent decision has since abated somewhat, but after the US and Israeli elections, the question of an attack will undoubtedly resurface. It is therefore critical to continue to examine the potential ramifications of an attack.

The scenario of an Israeli attack immediately after the US elections does not reflect the position of the Institute for National Security Studies. The possibility of an Israeli attack at any time is complex and has been analyzed in many INSS publications. Overall, there are two opposing assessments of the implications of an Israeli attack.

  1. One anticipates the outbreak of World War III, while
  2. the other envisions containment and restraint, and presumes that in practice, Iran’s capabilities to ignite the Middle East are limited.

The war game that took place developed in the direction of containment and restraint, with the actors motivated mainly by rational considerations and critical interests.

After the crippling Iranian response to such an attack that will include shutting down the straights, leveling saudi oil production, and ultimately crushing our joke economy with $15/gallon gas, the real question on all Americans minds will be this:  Why do they hate us for our freedoms?

Family of Tularosa boy Tased at school files suit

A state motor transportation police officer Tased a 10-year-old student during a school career fair in May in Tularosa, causing him to black out, according to a lawsuit filed by the boy's family.

In a story Wednesday in the Albuquerque Journal, officer Christopher Webb pointed the stun gun at the boy after the boy made a joke and said, "Let me show you what happens to people who do not listen to the police," the newspaper quoted a lawsuit filed Oct. 26 against the state Department of Public Safety.

Two barbs allegedly pierced the boy's skin, sending 50,000 volts of electricity through his body for five seconds and causing him to black out. The boy weighs less than 100 pounds. The boy is referred to only by his initials in the lawsuit, but the suit names his legal guardian as Rachel Higgins, according to the Journal story.

According to the suit, the places where the barbs pierced the boy's skin now look like cigarette burns. The Kennedy Law Firm provided the Journal with a letter to state police from a master Taser instructor, who analyzed the Taser for defects and found none. The instructor also wrote that it is possible but rare for a Taser to deploy without the trigger being pulled. He said that even if the probes deployed by accident, the person struck with them would not be shocked unless the trigger was pulled.

According to the suit, Webb pulled the barbs out of the boy's chest and took him to the principal's office after the incident, rather than calling for medical attention.

The boy has since suffered symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, and has woken up in the middle of the night, holding his chest and afraid, according to the suit.

Forecasting anything after an attack like this seems like a fruitless exercise.  I highly doubt that Israel has ignored other, more calamitous scenarios. Israel has had nuclear bombs for quite some time and has never used them (obviously) yet the entire world seems to point their fingers at it. Perhaps the world has simply given up on any real Arab leadership.  The discussions on this forum must include the relentless, failed leadership that the Muslims/its neighbors (Israel) have had to endure.

Netanyahu surely does not represent most Israelis. The majority of them want peace.  I have been there once and war is something that they are terrified of and only accept if there are no options left.  However, its neighbors (govts) have really not shown that they ever want peace as it would shift all the focus on to their own corrupt, evil theocracies.

Hmm let me rewrite a bit for the Iran.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Air_Flight_655

The US being on high alert accidentally shoots down another Iranian passenger plane.  Despite reasonable and concerted diplomatic efforts by the US to apologize to Iran, the Iranians using unconventional elements retailiate for a clearly unprovoked and accidental downing of an Iranian passanger plane.  The news media immediately shows the heartfelt sadness of the brave sailors on the USS <insert naval ship name here>, then the tears and anguish of the families of several kidnapped American tourists who innocently crossed the border of Iraq and Iran without valid authorization.

All global news networks have cut their regularly scheduled programming for a special message from the President.  The President with a solemn and grave face declares with a firm and evenlytoned voice his willingness to do whatever it takes to get them home and as of 0400 hours Special Forces have crossed into Iran and with the assistance of local rebels have secured the kidnapped tourists.  This truly is the Presidents finest hour and news media continuously praises his decisiveness in the matter and even-handed response.

New reports of continued Iranian provocations have surfaced and it has been discovered that the towns of the local rebels assisting the Special Forces have been systematically massacred by the intolerant and insane Iranian regime.  The families of the rescued tourists have appeared on the media to decry this inhuman and barbaric behaviour and calls for the President to intervene on their behalf.  The President looking tired hesitantly says that the US will do what it takes to ensure the safety of these brave people who were willing to risk everything for our citizens.  Special Forces will continue to be on the ground to monitor the situation and assist with any evacuations.  They will fall short of taking any direct action against Iranian forces.

Crazy Jews, even this speculation that an attack won't lead to WWIII is part of their game theory BS to gauge reaction.  They'll get caught eventually, their hands are into everything all around us.  Banks, media, politics with it's sick foreign policy, and everything from "hate laws" and affirmative action to gun control. How about the  Jewish overthrow of Russia  resulting in the  murder of 50 million people?   Let them call me what they want because they can't address the facts.

This could be the first "postmodern war" in the sense that whatever anyone said about it would be obsolete before they finished saying it. Although that may well be the case, I tend to believe what Iranians are quoted as saying. Namely, they would be coerced into the circumstances that they would have to use all their weapons as fast as possible, before they lost them. The Iranians have the basic choice to fight back, or not. If they choose to fight back, then they have to USE all their weapons as fast as they can, because those weapons systems themselves will become the primary targets to be attacked.  The current Iranian regime was created by those whose history was to organize and fight back against the CIA directed overthrow of the moderate, democratic government in the 1950s. They now have an entrenched theocratic regime, able to rationalize becoming martyrs for their beliefs. The Western powers have deliberately driven that polarization, in order to start a world war, which is supposed to enable the international banksters to consolidate their hegemony over the world. Those Western powers also seem able and willing to rationalize going for broke. Therefore, I tend to believe that this war will happen, and that it will quickly go out of control, far beyond what these silly propaganda war games are predicting. ... For instance, these days, it could be possible for an even almost totally destroyed Iran to respond by releasing biological weapons in Europe or North America, that would have the consequences of disrupting those civilizations beyond imagination.

Basically, I BELIEVE that we are surely looking at runaway, out of control, genocidal world wars, along with democidal martial law, as the consequences of the Western powers (directed by the international banksters) being willing to gamble on being able to "win" world war abroad, and prevail through martial law at home.  There is a fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting system that MUST change gears to start wars. The REAL world system is globalized, privatized, fiat, electronic money-as-debt, backed by weapons of mass destruction. That system has gone beyond debt slavery, to become debt insanity. In order for that system to continue, it MUST change gears, to start global wars, and impose domestic martial law. Therefore, that is what I expect to happen. However, I also expect that to backfire, very badly, and for the whole thing to go wildly out of control, so fast that nobody will know what is happening, as civilization collapses into chaos, and we go through the social psychotic breakdowns which are the final result of controlling civilization with huge lies, backed up with lots of violence, too much, for too long ...

THE PROBLEM IS THAT EVEN IF THIS PARTICULAR IRANIAN ATTACK DOES NOT START A WORLD WAR, THE INTERNATIONAL BANKSTERS ARE DETERMINED TO CONSOLIDATE THEIR GLOBAL HEGEMONY OF BEING ABLE TO CREATE THE WHOLE WORLD'S MONEY SUPPLY OUT OF NOTHING, WHICH REQUIRES BEING ABLE TO FORCE EVERYONE TO ACCEPT THAT.

The international banksters have already taken control of the Anglo-American (Zionist) world. The British Empire was based on the Bank of England's fractional reserve banking system for a few Centuries. The American Empire has been based on the Federal Reserve Board's similarly privatized fiat money system for a Century. Those things have been accelerating runaways for quite a while! That has been quite deliberately planned and executed, and one can find the hand of the international banksters behind just about every significant war and revolution for hundreds of years!

The supreme power is the power to make money out of nothing, and to force everyone else to accept that. With that power, one can then buy up control of all natural resources, simply by being able to rig the economic systems in various ways that force everyone to use that fiat money supply, and to therefore spiral down, deeper in debt, to those who can make everyone's money supply out of nothing, as debts.

SINCE THE WHOLE WORLD IS ALREADY CONTROLLED BY FRAUD, BACKED BY FORCE, AND THOSE WHO MADE AND MAINTAINED THAT SYSTEM ARE PLANNING TO CONSOLIDATE THAT INTO A GLOBAL GOVERNMENT, WHEREBY THEY CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT, WE ARE PRACTICALLY GUARANTEED TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH SOME GENOCIDAL WORLD WARS, AND DEMOCIDAL MARTIAL LAW EVENTS ... THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS WOULD HAVE TO BE PARADIGM SHIFTS IN MILITARISM, WHICH MADE POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE MURDER SYSTEMS, RUNNING ALTERNATIVE MONEY SYSTEMS. ... THE FACTS ARE THAT THE DEBT CONTROLS DEPEND ON THE DEATH CONTROLS, AND THE DEBT SLAVERY, BACKED BY WARS BASED ON DECEITS, HAS BECOME DEBT INSANITY, BACKED BY THE THREAT OF INSANE WARS.

This is all driven by science and technologies becoming billions, then trillions, then quadrillions of times more powerful, which then enabled the financial frauds, and the force of the weapons, to become billions, then trillions, then quadrillions of times BIGGER!!! The ONLY theoretical solutions are to evolve a radically new kind of militarism, that enables profound paradigm shifts in the combined money/murder systems. However, right now, the already established systems are acting through their social habits to go for broke. The international banksters, already controlling NATO countries, are pushing and pushing towards consolidating their global controls, and they are willing and able to start world wars abroad, and impose martial law at home, to try to force their frauds to become a totally triumphant global government system. NOTHING appears to be able to stop them, except the consequences of their own MAD rush to do that becoming real Mutual Assured Destruction. Therefore, even IF a war against Iran does not start a global war, and result in martial law, the international banksters are still hell bent on fulfilling their global plans, which are for them to be able to create the entire world's fiat money supply, which is a fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting system, and to force everyone in the whole world to accept operating inside of that system. That is the Neolithic social pyramid system amplified to astronomical sizes by science and technology, which means that is ignorance and fear, fraud and force, amplified to become billions, then trillions, then quadrillions of times BIGGER!!!

Since the international banksters are intent on going for broke, to consolidate a global government that they control, and that system requires wiping out all opposition, everywhere in the world, it appears that we MUST, sooner or later, in one way or another, go THROUGH the utterly irrational MADNESS of genocidal global war, and democidal martial law. And so, I REPEAT, the only real alternatives must be radically different death controls, through a radically different murder system, so that there could be a radically different money system, and debt controls. There is NO way to stop the world from being some system of organized lies, operating organized robbery. The only possible alternatives are for there to evolve better balancing human and industrial ecologies that do that. Tragically, at the present time, the only ways we can get there appear to be that the established banksters' systems must push things through to some serious degrees of overshooting into psychotic breakdowns, after which, we MIGHT have the conditions to enable something else to emerge, as new methods of balancing the human and industrial ecologies, within the overall environment, by those who survive and adapt to having science and technologies that made human beings become billions and trillions and quadrillions of times more powerful, so much so that that made it possible to drive the evolution of a whole new kingdom of life, in the form of computer/machine entities, which then drove their whole new evolution of their whole new ecology!!!

It presumes too much up front. It has the Chinese on one hand "playing the long game" and on the other hand acting out impulsivelly, rashly and even vengefully (Chinese hackers attacking US infrastructure because they're pissed at the US freezing physical Gold delivery for Gold Futures!?).

There are so many holes in there, so many unrealistic assumptions and so many inflection points in that guys "simulation" where things can go one way or another that the likellyhood of all the dominos to be stacked properly and falling in order as he describes is basically zero.

Mind you, I do think there's going to be some kind of Global Currency collapse and that a Gold-backed Yuan is going to be the World's next Reserve Currency ... only it's going to happen much slower and will not involve the Chinese stupidly doing actions with a high likellyhood of collapsing the World Economy: it will probably be some kind of savior tyoe thing were following a collapse of the Dollar/Pound/Euro currencies through their own stupidity (and due to an Oil price spike on an Israel-Iran war), the Chinese magically rise from the ashes and disclose they now have Gold reserves as big as the US.

Israel and Iran are no different than any nation on Earth, or any person seeking to prolong their life by their own claim of dominion, they must abort (God and Life) Christ (the cause sustaining their life and evidence of the principle offer) in order to fulfill the law of their claim, thereby if possible all flesh would be destroyed. They seek to prolong their claim and in order to do so must eat the flesh from the Tree of Life, which declares that they remain fallen. They actually think the corrupted host(s) can be sustained by the short call of the law of thier claim, as the evidence, ''death'' confirms they are all fallen in the end. LMAO. Pathetic.  The dipshits are so blind they do not see their own image in agreement with the mercy of God in Christ, which is the risen and sustaining offer of life in agreement with the meaning of life, love. How is it that these dipshits think that the evidence of death has any cause for them to even be risen? LMAO. They have failed to offer a case for their own life. LMAO. All they see is their Messiah as their own claim of dominion, the destroyer, rather than the call of judgment to come in agreement with the full revelation of the perfect sustaining law, defined and fulfilled in Christ. ''Mercy''. These fools base their whole being in agreement with the law of abortion. What morons. The antichrist image of God has no proven offer, other than death, or any principle offer for all human beings, other than death. They have nothing to offer but deception, war, destruction and death. Their pathetic princple offer, which is really just death, requires the blind fury of their own judgment and the weakness of their claim of dominion. Their law is, God without (the proven offer in agreement with the cause for life having risen with meaning) mercy, and that means anyone who stands fast, like Christ, is above their image of God. How pathetic, that anyone would fall for their offer at this point of human awareness and intelligence...

...war games in deed, and the fallen play with humans, like the last scrap of food at the end of dinner time in a death row prison, as if they can win a taste of Heaven before they lose the game.

its always interesting to see what the world has to offer and to much wealth in one group of people will cause problems ,, just like before hitler came to power ,,,  the man understood history very wel  , like the bolshevik revolution ,, disproportional high jewish involvement.... the german government before hitler.

today's wallstreet and bank and media involvement/control , and then ofcourse that piece of land in the middle east

and its  a matter of time before the jews take an other licking, because of their involvement in to much stuff that causes world wide problems.

and the world is getting tired of that and the world is getting better informed about it. so let the middle east games begin  and lets see who makes the smart moves

have any of you math geniuses stopped to consider what could happen if iran develops a small nuclear arsenal?

the animal kingdom exists whether you like it or not.  you're a complete idiot if you don't pick your own side.

If picking "your own side" means siding with America, a country that has had an illegitimate government since November, 1963 and is run by Nazi banksters and NWO  thugs, I'm going to remain neutral.

Please don't compare animals to humans. Animals would never act as this poorly.

IMHO the article was just a "trial balloon" piece to gauge the reaction of the people both in Israel and in the rest of the west.  TPTB have been itching for a major war in the Mideast for over a decade (by major I mean MAJOR - the US Gulf wars 1 and 2 were nothing but training exercises in the big scheme of things).  The problem is that most people in the US have basically had it with both the Tribe/Zionists in general (because of the recent financial escapades in which the guys calling the shots were predominately of Ashkenazi decent) and Israel in particular (because of their general Apartheid policies and specifically their treatment of the Gazan's).  This is mainly because of the efforts of the alternative media on the web.  Without the mindless support of Israel by the general population of the US, that was prevalent in the 60's, 70's and 80's, TPTB know that starting a MAJOR war in the M.E., that just might turn into a World War, could actually start a revolt in this country.

We are at a tipping point now with about 5-10% of the US population actually awake and seriously questioning the status quo.  I believe that even without some kind of trigger event like an Israeli attacked on Iran this will soon be in the range of 20-25% (only if the internet stays up and relatively free).  An attack on Iran by Israel would push this percentage way over 25% because of the backlash by the general population driving their need for answers on why the attack really took place. The LAST thing TPTB want is for more people to question the "accepted paradigm" or to look beyond the nightly reports on FOX, ABC, CNN, etc. and an attack on Iran by Israel would give them exactly the right kind of motivation to do just that.  Either the attack will occur because the people planning it know the gig is up and therefore they have nothing to lose, or it won't happen at all because of the down-side risks involved.  My guess is as we get closer to the tipping point of 25% of the population becoming awake/aware, that is when TPTB will decide to move on Iran because at that point they are damned if they do or damned if they don't - in other words it really wouldn't matter to them personally either way cause they are about to be fucked anyway.

There are serious flaws, erroneous assumptions, and misinterpretations of the strategic interests of other nations in this study.  It was obviously produced as a political document to convince the IDF that a strike is in Israel's interests.

1)  The entire thesis hinges upon the idea that Russia would seek to use the strike to increase its diplomatic prestige.  This is patently absurd.  What is in Russia's national interests?  Every higher oil and natural gas prices... Why? because Russia covets what Russia has always coveted... European hegemony.  Russia would make some hard-sounding statements in support of Iran and goad Iran into blockading the Straits... Why? Because Russia cares not a whit for Iran, and would like, as much as anyone else, to see Iran weakened, along with other forms of Islamic government (remember Afghanistan... Russia was there battled Al-Quaeda before the U.S.).  The best outcome for Russia is to have Iran and the U.S. square off over a blockade of the Straits... driving up the price of oil/ gas.. and increasing Russia's hold on Europe...  at the same time, weakening one of its 2 substantial international rivals (the U.S.), and helping to break the USD hold over the global economy.

2) China would not take this lying down.  Expect both Russia and China to cooperate in attempts to isolate U.S. forces in Afghanistan from supply and command control, activating the their ally in Pakistan most likely.  The U.S. would be in a full-blown military crisis, if supply lines to the forces in Afghanistan were blockaded... think Dunkirk.

3)  The U.S. would then be in real bind... risk WWIII by expanding the conflict into Chinese and Russian interests in the former Soviet Republics and Pakistan, or try to regain control of the situation fighting a limited conflict over the Straits and other key global oil chokepoints.

4) Hezbollah would activate, and it is quite possible, the Muslim Brotherhood would also take advantage of any Israeli weakness.

5)  The House of Saud would face significant internal dissent as oil revenues disappear and Iran activates proxies in the Arabian peninsula.

Bottom line... this report is idiotic and probably produced by a group of 26-year-old military "experts" who don't have any sense of the history of geostrategy and the interests of the major global players.  Best to keep these folk playing chess in the HQ and out of major decision-making circles.

Mr Durden, I take good note of your tendency to drop overblown, war-mongering, fear-raising articles involving israel; The immediate reaction of 95% of your public is crude moronism, crude anti-israel bias, crude anti-semitism. Do you have a special pleasure in creating these kinds of rabble , maniac outbursts ? A few days ago you published an alarmist article about three ( yes only three ) syrian tanks roaming the DMZ on the Golan heights , wich amounted to muchadoo about nothing .Your public also reacted in the same hysterical, crude, outburst of hate and despise towards israel.

Second point : your choice of this " war game " is based on very lacunary analysis; where is described the starting motive that should push israel government to this decision ? It is completely absent and your 95% morons public are lured into believing israel starts war , by futile , frivolous motives.Or did you choose this specific war game because it kept in the dark, the nuclear arms race of iran and its clearly voiced extermination threats towards Israel ?

Third point : The " war game " you choose totally ignores the great muslim factions in conflict over the Mideast domination: i.e Sunni islam versus Shiite islam. If such a war game occured it is well known that the sunnis would welcome, and secretely help israel to get rid of the shiite-iranian agressive expansion.Such an israeli strike would receive full technical support from Saudi Arabia, Koweit, the oil rich kingdom.

Fouth point : As long as the Western world is the leading power in the mideast , there is very little chance to see the shiite overcome and upset  the current balance of power. And this balance of power includes Israel , Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Koweit, Oil rich kingdoms into the western alliance. That you tend to hope for israel's demise as your little wet dream, seems to induce you to publish some mediocre and low grade academic material. It's a pity for your website wich otherwise has a very good selection of financial and economic material.
