The Little Picture: The Six Most Important Counties

Tyler Durden's picture

Overwhelmed by the information overload? Drowning in a sea of demographically sliced-and-diced exit-polls from every polling booth in the nation? Have no fear, Citi has created the ultimate election night cheat-sheet of the bellwether-est counties in the swing-est states. As they note, over the past three elections, these counties' vote totals have been very close to the statewide results, and they've picked the statewide winner each time. This makes them early indicators of the electoral vote winner in their states. Whether a Sun Belt growth county, an exurb, a middle class university area or a Midwestern farm community, all these areas are representative of key demographic groups wooed by both the two parties over the past decade.

If your voting today and pulling the lever make sure you bend over real hard because the pain will wake you up eventually. I stood straight up and wrote in R. Paul

3 hours and 15 minutes for us to vote (FL).  Ugh.  I noted that Roseanne Barr (w/ Cyndy Sheehan) was on the ballot!  I hope she got a lot of votes!

ACP's picture know a day without Roseanne is like a day without a thunderstorm.

You can vote however you want, but the voting machine decides who gets your vote:

blunderdog's picture

Wouldn't it be something to finally get a Jewish Preznit, tho?

francis_sawyer's picture

Which one has 'Buford T Justice' as sheriff?...

Robslob's picture

I wanted my vote to count so I didn't.

ACP's picture

Swinger counties baby, yeah!

"Winnebago" county....awesome!!

Never actually seen yard signs for a Republican in Blacksburg until this year.  A few Gary Johnson signs in front of the Frat houses - polls have been swamped today - never seen voting this heavy before in the 'burg.

Urban Redneck's picture

Yeah but town and country vote differently in Montgomery County... How long were the lines in town?

BliptoP3's picture

Very heavy in town.  Haven't seen what it looks like outside of town.

Urban Redneck's picture

The realitive I talked to said the line was out the gym, down, the hall and into the parking lot at 5 minutes after the poll doors opened and the the people at the front of the line got to the table - probably good I voted by mail, b/c they weren't happy with my vote for the Goode.

BliptoP3's picture

I like Goode, but decided on Johnson, I didn't want to throw my vot away on some Constitution Party loser :)  Seriously, I'm curious to see how third parties do in VA, Ron Paul got 40% in the primary; I'm thinking their might be enough of us to throw this to Obama, teach the repubs a lesson on civil liberties.  Probably just my personal pipe dream though ...

Urban Redneck's picture

there are probably a number of generational democrats and trade unionists in the SW who are mindlessly flipping D for R because of the economy, which I am afraid will offset R defections, but if the there are enough defections in the tidewater or nova it should be interesting on a statewide level, at least they count votes quickly in VA since it's already 23:00 here and I want to see the eminent domain amendment passed

willwork4food's picture

Im on the coast which naturally is pro Mittens. I went for Gary Johnson and did vote for the ED amendment. I wrote in Micky Mouse for the Senate seat thought...

Zer0head's picture

Larimer, Flagler, Winnebago, Washoe, Lake, Montgomery

(and I always thought the only county that mattered was Bumfuck)

francis_sawyer's picture

francis_sawyer lays down the gauntlet...

Has anyone EVER taken the presidency without carrying 'Winnebago' county?... Political historians ~ here's your chance to shine... [or STFU ~ as the case may be]...

blunderdog's picture

Has anyone EVER taken the presidency without carrying 'Winnebago' county?

Yes, obviously.

Dre4dwolf's picture

Soon to be the 6 regular countries.

Cognitive Dissonance's picture

I care not who votes, only who (or what) counts the vote.

Milestones's picture

The voting machines as I understand are analog but the results are printed digitallly, much the same as a breath test is done. The results are therefor ALTERED. What do you think happens? Aw shucks you got the answer.        Milestones

hmmm how many requir IDs ??? or am I rude for implying that I need an ID to vote?

dbTX's picture

At least Romney has agrteed the FED needs and will be audited, we'll see.

lolmao500's picture

Romney is full of it.

If he's for real... the first thing he should do when he comes in is arrest most people in the Obama administration, Bush administration and Clinton administration. But of course he will never do that... NOR audit the FED. NOT A CHANCE IN HELL.

JailBank's picture

Couldn't do that. These guys are intercahngeable parts. People from Bush's team would be on Romney's team.

Yankee.go.home's picture

He is a poster child for "Will say anything to get elected."

lolmao500's picture

Yeah but people are voting twice and 3 times...

Voter fraud: People go to vote, ballots already cast in their names; Others vote more than once
Matt's picture

Holy Crap, some of those people seem to use their full names as their Twitter handles when admitting to voter fraud.

lolmao500's picture

The FBI should have lots of work for the next few weeks.

Well, I have turned off the TV. Got my ear plugs in, gonna hit the garden and listen to music the rest of the day. Then, about 7PM here out west the lady and I will make a Big bowl of popcorn and watch the circus. Am so sick of all the ads and hype and I am sorry, absolutely no one knows how this will turn out. So just click Off for the rest of the day and enjoy life or....get some work done.

Because when it comes to honesty and democracy, if you can't trust Citi?

Who can you trust?

Up next, Goldman Sachs exit polling of Federal Reserve officials!!!!!!!!!

It took an enitre 5 minutes to vote here in Ralston (Omaha), NE. Might be the only Johnson vote in the state today. Heard about all my pals here tell me I wasted my vote. That's cool because I used the extra 55 min of lunch time to order 10 oz of silver and another 500 9mm rounds. I feel like I voted three times.

"The Six Most Important Counties"

Um, for what precisely?

for Bumma and Rottey which puppet has to pay-back their sponsors... for Americans it makes not one jot of difference, they've got the same shit coming down the pipe to swallow as the last 4 years pile of shite

Govt - one turd in the road after another until the nation suffocates

Stop Paying Taxes ...don't put up with this shit any longer

Voting is for people who think the Republic hasn't already fallen.
