Ron Paul's audit the fed bill had large support in the house with a large bipartisan majority suppporting it. It only failed because a few senate dems wanted it to go down, mainly Harry Reid. These people have traded freedom for the belief that Govt knows best. While I would have prefered to see Ron Paul get the GOP nomination, how would the libertarian message have resonated in places like PA, OH, etc. This country is fucked. We have apparently hit a critical mass of "please take care of me Uncle Sam" voters. I dont see that trend reversing until that mindset reaches its logical conclusion.

It's not a matter of suddenly realizing what;s going on. Look around the site, view the archives. If others are like me then we have been expecting the fufillment of the doom that is now arrived with little to no ability to effect change. I can't pick up and go some where with out abandoning loved ones which i won't do. There fate is my fate and that's the way it is. However, the obvious fulfillment of doom doesn't go by with out comment.
Then are you one of those who say every Jew should have stayed in Nazi Germany, because they had some relative or friends there too? Because that's the closest comparison, in my opinion. The USSA is horrible now, but just wait for the string of atrocities that come next.
I will not criticize you for choosing to "go down with the ship", because I believe every individual has a right to make his own decision, and suffer the consequences. Of course, this is a very terrible version of such, because you will be primarily suffering the consequences of the actions of predators, not your own actions.

Nonetheless, I encourage everyone to give serious consideration to jumping ship. Take others with you if necessary. Look, here is one idea. Listen, I understand the following fact isn't immediately obvious or intuitive, but think about it for a while before you discard the possibility.
If you live in the country where you are citizen [or permanent resident], the predators DBA government in that country consider you their slave. That's a fact. On the other hand, if you live in a country where you are simply a tourist, the predators DBA government [in most countries] consider you "someone else's slave" and more like an honored guest in their country (this characterization is somewhat of an exaggeration in some countries, but not much so in others). They like tourists, because they consider tourists to be individuals spending "outside money" into their economy.
So it very much depends on where you "live". Since you joke about Argentina, I just happen to know of someone who had entered Argentina 14 years ago on a tourist visa, and never left. He just decided to take a trip outside Argentina, and when he went to exit they fined him $50 for "overstay" and said "have a nice trip". And the whole process took 15 minutes. To be "totally legal", you can leave Argentina once every 6 months (or 12 months if you got a longer-term visa or an extension of the normal one) for 5 minutes, then turn around and re-enter. Of course most countries aren't quite that easy to deal with - they want you to stay outside the country for 24 hours, 1 week, or perhaps even 3 months.
When I say "safe", of course I mean "relatively safe" and I mean I mean "safe from predators-DBA-government". What we're talking about here (in case anyone is confused) is what happens to liberty-lovers in a massively expanding police-state. If you LOVE authoritarianism, and LOVE to lick the boots of every petty authoritarian thug the predators hire, then you might get by in a largely authoritarian state. If you express your opinions about liberty and authoritarianism, and especially if you attempt to evade the ever-tightening requirements of the police-state (like not buying health-care insurance or letting your kid sell lemonaide off a table in your front yard, or sell girlscout cookies), then you are vastly safer outside the USSA (unless you are stupid and move to somewhere stupido).
It is strange and perhaps ironic, but also true that the best places on earth today have absolutely horrific governments in theory, and sometimes even in practice. I'm serious. For example, there are a few places supposedly ruled by all-powerful "kings" that are actually fantastic places to live. How can that be? Well, the governments I'm talking about have a combination of a "very poor, underfunded government" and are like a bunch of clueless "keystone cops". A couple of these are island groups (with dozens to hundreds of individual islands) where the so-called "ruler" or "government" is almost 100% consumed by nonsense in the capital city (or the island containing the capital city), and don't even think about the outlying islands. So in reality, sometimes the best places in fact have totally absurd governments in theory (on paper). To some extent Argentina qualifies, albeit not nearly as well as several others.
What matters to people like me is... am I in fact "out of sight, out of mind" and "left alone". I mean sheesh! If you go by "in theory" or "on paper", the "declaration of independence" and "constitution" would matter. In fact, they don't.
We are going to see the real Obama now, the gloves come off. The media is standing around circle jerking themselves to the Obama alter. Wonder what comes next, maybe censor controls on the net? I mean all these dissenting voices really need to be shut down. 401k's get nationalized? How about full amnesty for the demographic that has quitely taken control? Thanks for the opinion. I've watch him for a couple of years now and to me, he seems to have a touch of character that others in DC don't have. I did try to take a look at every thing that the MSM said was a lie and I couldn't find one ... maybe my bias too
Ryan is my Congressmen. Economics degree...been screaming about the debt and social security liabilities since '05. I truly believe he knows just how fucked we are. But he Is a prisoner of Washington politics. And he's a wonk who will never be cut out to be a leader of the party.
It will be interesting what romney invests in over he next few months....
