Did Petreaus Betray Us (And If Not Us, His Wife... After The Election Of Course)

Tyler Durden's picture

Update, in which we find the true reason for the affair: Petraeus Won’t Testify on Benghazi Next Week, Senate Aide Says.  In other words, next time one is called to testify before a panel over the deaths of 4 people including one US ambassador, one just pulls the infidelity "get out of testimony" card and all is well.

* * *

A mere few days after the re-election of our president, CIA Director David Petraeus annoucnes his resignation:

  • *CIA DIRECTOR DAVID PETRAEUS RESIGNS
  • *PETRAEUS SAYS HE ASKED OBAMA TO BE ALLOWED TO RESIGN: NBC NEWS

The reason - an extra-marital affair...

  • *PETRAEUS SAYS HE ENGAGED IN AN EXTRAMARITAL AFFAIR: NBC NEWS
  • *PETRAEUS 'SUCH BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE' IN A LEADER: CNN

Of course, the defense is already known: Petreaus did not commit that affair... the government did it for him

Via AP:

David Petraeus has resigned as director of the CIA after admitting he had an extramarital affair.

According to his letter of resignation, Petraeus asked President Barack Obama on Thursday to allow him to resign, and on Friday the president accepted.

Petraeus said in a statement that he had shown "extremely poor judgment" in having an affair.

and From the Director of National Intelligence...

DNI STATEMENT ON THE RESIGNATION OF CIA DIRECTOR DAVID PETRAEUS

Today, CIA Director David Petraeus submitted his letter of resignation to the President. Dave’s decision to step down represents the loss of one of our nation’s most respected public servants. From his long, illustrious Army career to his leadership at the helm of CIA, Dave has redefined what it means to serve and sacrifice for one’s country.

Since he took over as Director in September of last year, he and I have worked together to tackle some of the most challenging issues faced by the Intelligence Community in more than a decade. Under his leadership, the CIA remained instrumental in providing our policy makers decision advantage through the best possible intelligence. I’m particularly thankful for Dave’s unwavering support and personal commitment to my efforts to lead the Intelligence Community and integrate our intelligence enterprise.

Whether he was in uniform leading our nation’s troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, or at CIA headquarters leading the effort to generate intelligence used to keep our nation safe, Dave inspired people who had the privilege of working with him.

I have spent more than five decades serving our country–in uniform and out–and of all the exceptional men and women I have worked with over the years, I can honestly say that Dave Petraeus stands out as one of our nation’s great patriots.

On behalf of the entire Intelligence Community, I thank Dave for his service, his support and his continued friendship.

how does resigning from federal office allow one to be exempt from testifying before congress about what transpired while holding that office. Public servants should be accountable for their actions and be required to explain those actions even after leaving public office. Does congress not have the power to require his testimony, even after leaving the position?

Petraeus was first and formost a military man, that's why he was put at CIA, with the future in mind. In case anyone has not noticed, the military didn't like what happened at Benghazi.  It's a classic smear, has happened a billion times.  He was smart and prempted it. This was a FF pretend kidnapping that went wrong.

I think the Publicans are going to see about making him testify anyway, What makes me think they'll screw it up though?

On O: When you lie, you must keep on lying to cover the fact that you are lying. This is patholigical.

Nobody get's to the upper echelons of GOVT without being compromised. Ron Paul never had a chance (squeeky clean). Obama, Clintons, Bushe's, Heads of States, Central Bankers, etc..... are all compromised so the real elites have ultimate control over them. Simple Really.

My guess is Betray-us did something really bad and Obama said this is your one and only out. Infidility is the easiest and fastest way to torpedo someone (previous IMF Head?). I never likes DP, too bad he opened the door for these bastards to take him out. I wonder what he found out ('bout O) while in the CIA??????  Must have been a DOOZY!

My guess is Obama did something really bad, and Petreaus had to/or wanted to avoid having to testify about it.

More on the non-coindental sequence of Obama re-elected --> Petraeus resigns --> Benghazi testimony canceled:

The investigation began last spring, but the FBI then pored over his emails when Petraeus was stationed in Afghanistan.

The woman who was having an affair with Petraeus is a journalist who had been writing about him. Given his top secret clearance and the fact that Petraeus is married, the FBI continued to investigate and intercept Petraeus’ email exchanges with the woman. The emails include sexually explicit references to such items as sex under a desk.

The White House, with concurrence by the FBI and Justice Department, held off on asking for Petraeus’ resignation until after the election. His resignation occurred three days after the election, avoiding the possibility that Obama’s ill-fated appointment of Petraeus could become an issue in the election.

FBI agents on the case were aware that such a decision had been made to hold off on forcing him out until after the election and were outraged.

“The decision was made to delay the resignation apparently to avoid potential embarrassment to the president before the election,” an FBI source says. “To leave him in such a sensitive position where he was vulnerable to potential blackmail for months compromised our security and is inexcusable.”

Basically, he was threatened with a sex sting if he still insisted on testifying next week. He beat them to the media plain and simple with their own threat, a conjured story. There is no rift between him and his wife, they just underestimated Petreaus ability to be able to side step some land mines here and there. Good for you David! You beat them at their own game. If they can keep Operation Fast and Furious quiet, one single sexual impropriaty is easy to manage if that was the case, they have hidden worse than that in the past.

David didn't get to where he is today by caving to threats or pressure, he ran with their story before they can release theirs. Now the White House (if you want to call it that) and the Media were knocked back on their heels and are now playing catch up.

The White House blamed the CIA for Benghazi, Petraeus didn't want to play ball so let the bodies begin to drop. The parisite once desperate for food always turns on the host.

This is far from over, stay tuned.

Are you trying to say that the FBI didn't "unveil" CIA emails?  They said so on Fox News.  They FBI concern was that she was a "stalker."

All MSM's are lying, the election proved that, you have to have in the know contacts or be in those circles to get to the real story. If he wasn't squeeky clean or had a stalker problem he would have never made the appointment to Director of the CIA to begin with.

The FBI is a criminal arm of the Government and they just happened to be the ones to uncover encripted emails of CIA Top Brass activities? Question everything, were dealing with an Outlaw Regime right now. I'm sure Eric Holder will get to the bottom of it.

OBama provides arms to Al Quaeda ( not bad for a US President who poses as a big fighter on Al Quaeda ::) in Lybia, under the arrangement ( read " compromissions " ) that those arms will be used only against the Assad butchery in Syria. But Al Quaeda has another agenda IN ADDITION to fighting Assad in Syria: they want to take revenge on the execution by a US Drone of their operative Mr Al-Libi.So they tend a death trap to the US ambassador and his four bodyguards in benghazi. And they attack them .Well until that very second it looks a fine scenario of underworld operatives settling accounts.

THe scenario suddenly slides completely out of the business-as-usual mood when WHILE THE US AMBASSADOR and US soldiers are UNDER ATTACK, MR Barack Hussein Obama, President of the United States of America, deliberatley choose to let his ambassador get killed at the hands of the Al Quaeda attackers INSTEAD of rushing to help and protect him.

On the ground US General Ham warns the white house he is going to send a predator drone in order to repulse the attackers .BUT to achieve his betrayal in broad daylight, President Obama instructs  Leon Panetta to discharge on the spot General Ham.

Then Al Quaeda attackers have all the time to perform their plan, Ambassador Stevens is captured and tortured savagely ( the same way as Khadafi was tortured ) and killed along with the four amercian soldiers .

Ms Clinton, never short of imagination create a nice smokescreen, and thanks to her huge liying ability she whitewash the Al Quaeda ambush on the ambassador as a " improvised cultural outrage against the islamic faith reacting to the silly video made by an egyptioan christian-copt in Los Angeles and broadcast a few days earlier on you-tube "...Laughing out loud at ms Clinton hard-working fantasy.

Obama never short of shameful response appears on september 25th at the UN and claims " Anyone insulting the prophet (muhamad ) has NO FUTURE ".IN coded islamist phraseology ( konown for centuries as TAKKYIA or the art of masquerading your true meaning ) Obama endorse the Al Quaeda - Muslim Brotherhood propaganda: When Obama says " No future " he means DEATH. Here I do not laugh out loud.

Now the matter grows out of the fog under which the Obama administration wanted to keep it, and the CIA chief is summoned for testimonywe  at the Senate. But suddenly  it appears the CIA chief, a famous warrior  Gl Petreaus who won a big success agsainst the iraqui insurrection, is tainted by an extra-conjugal love affair.Laughing out loud again...

So the gullible public, the ignorant masses is aked to swallow this new layer of manipulation in order to avoid the naked truth: And the naked truth is that you american citizens you have elected again an ISLAMIST MOLE to the white house. There is nothing to laugh , unless you still  do not catch the kind of President and adminsitration you are under : an administration who deliberately prefers Al Quaeda killing your ambassador rather than trying to save him.

I don't know if Obama is a Muslim but he's all in with the new caliphate.  Putting Benghazi aside, there were pre organized demonstrations in Egypt and Pakistan over the "movie" that they had been moving around on you tube since July.  The timing was to coincide with Obama's UN speech to make anti Islamist speech hate speech and further degenerate free speech in the US with a UN end around.  Whatever you believe about Petreaus and Benghazi the set up for the UN speech is undeniable from the facts.

Why is this even news?  All I see is just another man unable to keep it in his pants.  Nothing new there, (John Edwards, Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods, etc.).  As to Benghazi, the media in the US will not report the truth of the matter regardless of who testifies to what.  The media and the government in this country have been in bed together for years both entities are so corrupt and polluted the truth is indistinguishable.

The real story was somewhat different. The Governemnt didnt want the General to testify in reagrd to Lybia as he was going to spill the beans so the Governemnt blackmailed him with his affair. The General cut this off by resigning and stating the affair details himslef. He will testify to the House, but not only about Lybia. The Genral has the O papaers in reagrd to citizenship, as you would expect being head of the CIA, and the bomb that is coming will set off all sorts of issues. Lets see how the President handles this mess; can a non citizen be sworn in as President in Jan?;The Supreme Court has already told the Justice department that this is an issue for Congress and not the Court; Holder wants nothing to do with it; understand that if they impeach the President that the VP should be in line but he will most likley be thrown out in the GRAND BARGAIN aswell; as it was explained to me this leaves the Speaker of the House to become President. All of this after the financial markets decline by signifincat amounts. Watch for the little green jeeps on the White House lawn. "Ths Military is in charge here" as it was said years ago

If any of you think for one second that General Petraeus' infidelity is/was news to his immediate superiors, you are a complete moron.  This character flaw is a very reliable leverage tool in the history of blackmail, extortion, and fear mongering. Axelrod, the evil genius, probably introduced the woman to the General.

3 rules of thumb:

1) Keep your pants zippered.

2) Understand everything you say is being recorded.

3) Understand all that you do is being recorded.

u r talking about advice to a man who is at the heart of the biggest spook machine on earth on HOW to zipper his pants?

A man like that thinks his attributes are divine. Period.

Its the internecine wars between spooks and political gooks on the Hill that lead to this blood letting. Divine gods then find they are not immortal even if they carry five stars on their chests. Hubris takes a beating at Benghazi and then in DC.

Will there be blow back after election to enflame the partisan wars of spook machine and Capitol Hill string pullers?

Time will tell. But a broom operation at the beginning of a mandate is more in favour of the head man than those who try to topple him in blow-back. SOur grapes never pay off once the race is over.

Meanwhile the real issue for the brass hats is what happens to Defense budgets, not what happens to Petraeus.

And, more appropiately for the losers to cogitate this lesson of election summarised by Newsweek : GOP; party of old, white conservative farts; now history.

The General is/was just another pawn.

*Women half my age generally don't want to fuck/suck me because I'm so good looking.*

John Dalberg Acton said it best with "power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely."  The evil, behind the scenes, genius Axelrod orchestrated this timeline of infidelity to weaken some, and strengthen others.  Nothing more, nothing less.

I do not offer anyone advice.  I merely state my 3 rules by which I myself abide.  They come in handy.
