Israel Assassinates Hamas Army's "Chief Of Staff" In Precision Airstrike, Hamas Vows "Infernal" Response

Tyler Durden's picture

Update: Israel CDS 145/155, +6 bps

In a move that is certain to aggravate the already frayed relations between Israel and the Palestine, not to mention send Brent spiking, moments ago the IAF, in a precision airstrike, assassinated Ahmed Jaabari, the head of Hamas' armed wing - a position that is equivalent to Chief of Staff - together with his son, who were travelling in a car at the moment of the strike. And, as expected, the furious Hamas response has already been logged and promises much more death and escalation in the near term.

From Times of Israel:

The IDF confirmed the airstrike on Jaabari and said that it had launched a “widespread campaign on terror sites and operatives in the Gaza Strip, chief among them Hamas and Islamic Jihad targets.”

“By nature of his position, Jaabari has been responsible over the past decade for all anti-Israel terror activity emanating from the [Gaza] Strip, the Shin Bet security agency said in a statement.

Palestinians reported that there had been additional IAF airstrikes in Khan Yunis and Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Jaabari was credited with being one of the leaders of Hamas’s violent putsch to take control of the Gaza Strip in 2007, and masterminded the professionalization of the Hamas military.

Israel attempted to kill Jaabari in an airstrike in 2004, but ended up killing his eldest son, his brother, and several cousins instead.

Israel's official stance, is that the assassination is in retaliation to a recent surge in shelling out of Gaza:

On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would not abide the ongoing rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.

“The IDF is operating, and will operate forcefully against the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, which are sustaining heavy blows from the IDF,” the prime minister said. “The world needs to understand that Israel will not sit idly by in the face of attempts to attack us. We are prepared to intensify the response.”

Although the prime minister didn’t mention any specific avenues of action, Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe Ya’alon was more specific. “There’s no doubt that in the past two weeks we’ve been witnessing an escalation, which Hamas is responsible for,” Ya’alon told Israel Radio on Sunday. “We aren’t going to let this stand.”

Of course, Hamas has its own reasons to escalate the shelling, which in its view is justified due to ongoing killings by Israel, and so on, and so on, since the beginning of time. And as was to be expected, moments ago:

  • HAMAS SAYS ISRAELI STRIKE HAS "OPENED THE GATES OF HELL"

In other words, Israel is now waging three potential offensive campaigns: Syria, Iran and Gaza. This too, shall end well. If not for everyone, then certainly for Brent bulls.

And from the IDF's blog:

In the past hour, the IDF targeted Ahmed Jabri, the head of Hamas’ military wing, in the Gaza Strip. Jabri was a senior Hamas operative who served in the upper echelon of the Hamas’ command and was directly responsible for executing terror attacks against the State of Israel in the past number of years.

The purpose of this operation was to severely impair the command and control chain of the Hamas leadership, as well as its terrorist infrastructure. This was a surgical operation in cooperation with the Israeli Security Agency, that was implemented on the basis of concrete intelligence and using advanced capabilities.

Ahmed Jabari

Ahmed Jabari (far right)

The IDF will continue to target sites that are used for carrying out terror attacks against the citizens of Israel while improving their daily security.

what's really funny about all this is that there is us taxpayer dollars tied up in the purchase of the rockets Hamas is currently lobbing at Israel, shipped from client states that the federal government pays out hundreds of billions a year to so as to remain "friends".

and of course, Israel procures much of it's gear from the US including the f-16's or f-15's they used in that airstrike.

so the feds just keep supplying everybody over there with everything they need to keep shooting at each-other...

Mischaracterized as an assassination if

unfortunately the israeli leaders are not much better.

Maybe the Mossad should go undercover and start a more radical splinter group that delegitimizes Hamas so they have someone different to negotiate with for a change...

Seems like I remember hearing about a whole lot of weapons from Libya making their way into Hamas' hands a while back, including CBW. That's on the South. Then there's all the CBW weaponry that Assad's deteriorating gov't has on the North - apparently one of the largest collections of these weapons in the world. Then there's all those other Libyan weapons that the CIA has been giving to their friends AQ - the 'freedom fighters' in Syria. Then there's Hezbollah, who have been receiving God knows what kinds of weapons from Iran. It's a good thing that none of those weapons are ever going to be used for fear of Israeli retaliation, or all hell could break loose.

Why doesnt the isreal try a different suit.

Lets get the isreal to tell uncle sam to fuck off.  Lets get the isreal to hand back the 3 billion dollars a year that uncle sam gives it, in fact lets not, lets just say the isreal can keep what it has already got from the good old USA but now gets by on its own.  Lets say the isreal can now disband its disgusting aparthied state, worse than even during the second world war and allow these people to live peacefully.  Lets see the isreal stop bulldozing land that does not belong to them and allow the rightfull owners to live as they see fit.

You see, without the isreals racist, aparthied state, taking things that do not belong to them, and having the backing of the uncle sam to stop the rest of the world getting involved, there would be no such thing as hamas.  What the isreal should realise is just because you have an over represented by magnitudes of god knows what in American governance, you should really see that the rest of the world is itching to see how "GODS CHOSEN", would fair should the isreal be left to defend itself.

Its about time the average jew stood up and be counted here.  I fear time will see the isreal left on its war mongering, racist, suppremecist, aparthied state own.

Criminals.  You WILL, reap what you sow.

Good! Hamas has been raining down literally tens of thousands of rockets on southern Israeli cities for years. Enough is enough! It's about time the Israelis took out Jabari, Hamas' military chief -- the man largely responsible for those rockets! Live by the sword, die by the sword!

Iranians-- caucasian from Japheth (gentile)

Israel-- semites (Shemites)

Palestinians-- used to be from the Philistines (Hametic), the Romans named Jerusalem Philistinia (Palestine), but now are mostly Jordanian who are Moabites and Ammonites, half brother to the Jew and who have always been opposed to Israel since Sarah cast out Ishmael and Esau sold his birthrite.

It is very complex.

before God called Abraham to Jerusalem he had been a moon-worshipper. Abram, Sarai and Leben (full moon) are all names associated with moon worship. This religion goes back to ancient Babel in Shinar.

Muslims believe in Allah, the moon-God, while Jews believe in the God of Israel, YHVH. Both believe the same, that "God" is One. However, one can show from the Bible that the Lord thy God is One in ESSENCE but having three persons. And His Son is equally God. Since the temple was destroyed, Jews have no place to sacrifice to YHVH. Most Jews don't believe anymore.

As pathetic as it is, I'm obviously far better educated about Christianity than you are.  (What can I say?  I didn't escape the Catholic indoctrination system until I was 13.)

The Trinity is not described in the Old Testament, and the Judaic tradition does not consider Jesus to be the son of God.  Given that "The Father" and "The Son" are 2/3rds of the holy Trinity, OBVIOUSLY it's not a Jewish thing.

Where'd you get this stuff? You're not a religious type, are ya?

(I didn't wait around for that webpage to load.  If you get that tuned up adequately, maybe I'll take a look.  But I'd encourage you to go do a bit of checking before you make even more a fool of yourself.)

The Internet really helps illustrate the "lead a horse to water" adage.

Even when someone has near-instantaneous access to a tremendous variety of sources of information on virtually all subjects, it's not safe to assume he'll ever learn a damn thing.

stiler, repeating what he's been told to think, said:

Muslims believe in Allah, the moon-God, while Jews believe in the God of Israel, YHVH.

Muslims, Christians, and Jews all believe in the God of Abraham. Muslims and Christians believe Christ was sent to earth by God, born of a virgin, and performed miracles.

Your equating of the God of Muslims, Christians, and Jews with a moon-god is a bit unorthodox, to say the least.

We all are, constantly. I tend to be skeptical when I'm being sold an agenda, especially ones that attempt to drive wedges between people, arrange people into favored and unfavored groups, and denigrate unfavored groups.

A little bit of research quickly dispels the "Allah as moon-god" claim. One can draw one of two reasonable conclusions when it is made: the person making it is ignorant, or the person making it is propagandizing in order to advance an agenda of division between Christians, Moslems, and Jews.

Awesome recipe. Ah, if people of ancient times had known that, today's will be different...

Can Chinese citizenism citizens call it something else than success?

Can Chinese citizenism citizens admit they are at the root of the current world situation, and not an unfamed Zimbabwean mad thinker or a worshipper of Voodoo?

The few only times Chinese citizenism citizens are ready to declare their own failures is when they do not induce Tibetans to self-immolate fast enough, when they are not enough efficient in killing people.

Other than that, well, it is always successes with Chinese citizenism citizens or self criticized successes.

Godless Chinese Citizenism citizens would, of course, only offuscate their non-spirtual blobbing-uppityness by attacking The Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster as a symbol of US 'american' citizenism consumptionalitionisticalism or some such, when in the mattering means they would deep-down know that He is an affront to their materialistic, soulless way of life.  But the Most Holy FSM loves all, even those who expose their posterior regions and debowel in public for all to see.  The asymmetry of His love for them, and their loathing for the pureness of Him, drives them mad, and is the nib, the very crustiest bit that highlights their moral and spiritual rot.

In Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster citizenism, love is an every class thing.
