Giving Thanks That It Has Not Come To This

Tyler Durden's picture

On occasions such as the increasingly binary-outcome world in which we exist today, it is perhaps more important to give thanks not for what has happened, but for what has not, such as this fictional and dramatic potential outcome.

I'm pretty sure we can raise consciousness a little higher than that...

CPL's picture

Impossible when pain is not reconciled.  The best efforts done so far are half assed, half thought of and poorly executed on all levels.  To allow the idea of epiphany to enter a situation; the chaotic calm, tao, whatever people like to call it.  The center must be recognized, acknowledged and maintained.

Yet here we are running from starboard to port in some insane attempt to swamp our own life raft.

Don't let go of the steer-board to go drink port with the crew. Stay focused captain

I would herein like to thank goodness for the alien invasion that has not yet occured, even though I know the good Paul Krugman has one incorporated in his mathematical models showing how the economy can be saved through more debt and spending.

This is one of the worse videos i've seen. Garbage.. It was almost credible until the part about Iran and the predictions of what their leader would say.. Sounds like Zionist propoganda to me.  So they put a cheap ZH plug in the end to get it on this site.. I'm going to go throw up.. I use to like his videos. I will unsubscribe to him on youtube as well..

To CPL above.

Well said.

As the incomprable Frank Herbert said:

Atrocity is recognized as such by victim and predator alike, by all who learn about it at whatever remove. Atrocity has no excuses, no mitigating argument. Atrocity never balances or rectifies the past. Atrocity merely arms the future for more atrocity. It is self-perpetuating upon itself — a barbarous form of incest. Whoever commits atrocity also commits those future atrocities thus bred.

Zerohedge jumped the shark when the commenters here began confusing cartel-style corruption with socialism.

tmosley's picture

>Implying they don't use the same means to acheive the same outcome

THX 1178's picture

They use different means to acheive the same outcome.

tmosley's picture

Right, one takes from others and gives to themselves and cronies, while the other takes from others and gives to themselves and cronies.

THX 1178's picture

One exploits the free market by pretending to compete, the other replaces the free market without pretending.

OneTinSoldier66's picture

I'm curious. Do you consider Obama to be a Cartel guy, or a Socialist guy?

EnslavethechildrenforBen's picture

Cartel guys are Socialist guys. It keeps them in business

THX 1178's picture

No, the bank bailouts were not in the name of socialism, they were in the name of a massive ponzi scheme! They like the bailouts, but they NEED free-markets to do their business.

OneTinSoldier66's picture

May not have been in name, but privatizing the profits while socializing the losses is fascist socialism.

OneTinSoldier66's picture

I'd have to say you're correct. I've been told that Fascism is the state controlled means of production. Communism is the state owned means of production.

THX 1178's picture

Everyone's got a different definiton. Fascism in my opinon is a complex system that combines a government populated by oligarchs, military men, elected officials (corrupt and not), cartels & monopolies, and police forces who collude at certain points to get what they want-- namely money and power. Fascism has less to do with communism than you'd think... the state is controlled by business interests like the Federal Reserve, the MIC, and Monsanto, etc. The government is populated by businessmen who serve other interests. Fascism is what we have presently. Socialism doesn't transfer all of main street's wealth to Wall Street. Fascism does. It seems confusing because they both can be authoritarian.

dogbreath's picture

you are wrong.  fascism and bolshie fabian socialism are siamese twins

jeff montanye's picture

these don't seem that similar to me, hence bolshie fabian socialism seems odd.  also fabian socialism, unless it's britain about 1960, hasn't been practiced as a nation.

bolshevism, as stalin noted, is also a misnomer: we aren't the majority, we are all.

totalitarian states, whatever they call themselves, are indeed similar.

our budding totalitarians bush and obama certainly resemble each other in policy if not vibe.

Things that go bump's picture

Oh great.  Another friggin argument about semantics.

THX 1178's picture

An argument about meaning? I wish we had more. Anything to reduce the aggregate amount of certainty-- SELF-certainty in particular.

Things that go bump's picture

Don't you find it frustrating to have a discussion if the terms are not defined and suddenly in the middle of a hot debate you find that my understanding of the definition of socialism is different from yours and we are stupidly arguing about apples and oranges, without even realizing it.

THX 1178's picture

He's a puppet. HE wants statism/socialism, but his advisors (Goldman Sachs guys) want the "free-market" ponzi to continue. I think the decision to bail out the banks during the financial crisis was made easy when they told him the entire economy would collapse and people would be in the streets if banks werent bailed out. In other words, bailouts for finance-capital amounts not to socialism, but to late capitalism-- chock full 'o cartels. I just don't know sometimes... Maybe O knows, maybe he's just a hapless pawn. Either way, the cartel runs the show, not a boardroom full of bearded communists and pamphleteering revolutonaries.

OneTinSoldier66's picture

I hear you. Still, I think the boardroom is communist, or fascist or whatever, whether or not they have any beards. They just try to look good to keep the game of skimming off the productive going.

"One exploits the free market by pretending to compete, the other replaces the free market without pretending."

Well, by your criteria, I would have to say that Obama is a cartel style corruption pretender. He claimed he was going to cut the deficit in half in his first term, and... I'll bring the troops home as soon as I'm in office and you can take that to the bank. Among many other things that he 'pretended' about in order to gain the seat of President.

Cheers THX 1178

OneTinSoldier66's picture

Just curious, as I always am... would you consider the U.S. Government's 'conservatorship' of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to be communism or fascism?

THX 1178's picture

I don't know. On one hand, you could imagine the bankers claiming it needed bailing out for the purpose of ponzi-continuance. One the other, the two organizations wouldn't have existed under a true free market. The bankers don't necessarily want free markets... they want safety nets in place-- institutions in place that they can benefit from too.

The bankers are not communist/socialist, but are not free-marketers either. They want preferential treatment.

well that was a pretty pointless and stupid video...

Weekend tyler jumped the shark.

What is weekend tyler's connection with future money trends - a smooth fraud production, IMO. Obviously if weekend tyler lumps together these shitty future money trends videos with other financial reporting then I have no confidene in the other financial reporting by weekend tyler.

ZH served a purpose of providing hard hittiing insight for a while, but by continuously pumping this FTM crap maybe its now a front for penny pump and dump schemes. Is weekend tyler aka jon lebed?
