It would be nice if logic dominated once in the cycle, but you can't hear rational arguments over the noise of 'true believers'.
It is possible for "true believers", as you say, to exercise logic, call into action particular teachings of their chosen religion and NOT hurt someone. "Do unto others..." and all that.
Then again, I also know people who are born again who are bigoted beyond belief, and see no problem with it.

I have no problem admitting I fully support Iran and Ahmadinejad. He has shown immense tolerance under extreme stress - he is hands down the best global leader left after they killed Quadaffi.
