Ron Paul: "Why I Don't Run As An Independent"
Many have wondered if Ron Paul would have run as an independent. Here is his answer: "[I didn't consider running as an independent because] it is absolutely not practical. This would have been a good year to have an alternative and you can't get much of a showing either on the libertarian side or the green side".... the Republican and Democratics "parties are going to linger because they are locked in by law. The laws are biased against us from competing." So how does one change the two-party system? "You go to the campuses. You rally the young people. You stir up a whole generation of people. Ideas do have consequences and that's where the good news is because the campuses are alive and well with these views and they know the system is bankrupt. And there is this illusion that you can spend endlessly and print endlessly and there will always be credit out there. And so far, so good, but credit can end quickly, the dollar can crash quickly and a new system will have to be developed."
And some parting words on one of Ron Paul's favorite topics: Freedom, or at least the myth thereof:
"The concern about freedom was lost because Freedom creates so much prosperity. People get complacent, then they become materialistic. They find the government: you can make more money by getting a contract from government, than being a genius and being productive. When I first came here in 1976 I was under the impression that if you talk about welfare you talk about those people who won't work and get foodstamps. But have a completely different opinion now: that exists and it's not healthy, but that's minor compared to the "foodstamps" the wealthy get. The wealthy get the contracts and the special deals and that's where the biggest turmoil is." On the future of the Republican and Democrat party: "the parties are going to linger because they are locked in by law. The laws are biased against us from competing.

The two parties do have a death grip on the system. Both are also under the sway of corporate donors, wealthy private donors and lobbyists. It would take a herculean effort to get someone from a third party elected at the national level. Meanwhile, America continues to crumble for the middle and lower classes. Here are some galling statistics:
Study: American Households Hit 43-Year Low In Net Worth

Three weeks ago, I moved out of state. Two weeks ago, I opened a bank account with the only locally owned bank in this county, switched over my NY driver's license and registered to vote... at which time I ditched the Republican party. It was a good day. Thanks for everything, Ron Paul.
opening up a bank account [at any bank] and "good day" usually don't collide in the same sentence... (Wasn't my 'junk' though)...
> (Wasn't my 'junk' though)
One of 'em is mine. He moved and had an opportunity to take a step away from the system by not registering to vote (or sit on useless, life-sucking jury duty) - and failed.
"He" is actually a she...just an FYI. ;)
The main NWO crime families are:
Duponts(behind coups in 30s and 60s, gmo seeds poisoning food supply)
Fords(funded Hitler, built weapons plants in nazi germany, ussr, funds La Raza, gangs)
Mellons(mellon bank getting govt bailouts over small banks, alcoa aluminum dumps toxics in water)
Rockefellers(supplies govt paid for oil to nazis & usa same time, eugenics, govt puppetmasters)
Vanderbilts(Anderson Cooper CNN is a Vanderbilt, pushes NWO agenda, diverts from real issues)
Hunts(price fix oil supplies, corner silver market)
Whitneys(banker fiat money printers)
They are mostly wasp(white anglo saxon protestant, however most wasps are decent people) inherited the wealth, are for state subsidized monopoly capital banks, price fixing oil companies.
Their goal is to wreck the economy, spread chaos so the can offer the fake solution being their NWO caste system of masters/dumbed down slaves, control grid. They pay for massive propaganda that is its to save the earth, they funded Hitler, Stalin, Lenin Mao and most 20th centuyr dictators as front men for their crimes.
They rely on divide and conquer tactics through the media and internet trolls to pit us against each other based on religion, gender, race, geography, country so they can steal more of our wealth through their hidden derivatives scam, real estate price fixing and fed reserve fiat money printing.
THEY ARE THE GLOBAL FASCIST CRIME SYNDICATE.
No mention of the 'Bush' crime family?... Also ~ ALL of the above mentioned share the common trait of mixing in with jew bankers at one time or another both in their in their phases of independent & co-mingled development [especially when & where coercion, extortion, & opportunistic monopolization were at the forefront]...
I gotta give the jews credit for understanding the value of operating in a clandestine way... All of the above mentioned 'Titans of Industry' are, at best, Praetorians in the larger order of things...
You're correct. The Bush Crime Family is The West syndicate. However, I do not blame the Jews. Now the Zionists are Criminal Scum which need to be dealt with by Extreme Prejudice.
No Rothschilds?
Yes most likely you could not win right now but you could get up there and really tell the public the truth. If it were me , I wouldn't answer the question , I Would just go guerrilla on both their murdering thieving corrupt parties. And I would end with Fuck you Candy ! That has to be worth a few votes.
Ron Paul did run. I know this , because I voted for him.
If you vote--for anyone--you're participating in the scam. DON'T VOTE.
The US desperately need third party. The support for that third party will be prevalent if that third party can fill the gap left behind by the left and the right, which covers the 90% of the population.
He doesn't run as an Independent because he's a hypocrite.
He wants to run as a Republican so he'll be included in the debates, no matter that he's booed and laughed at for his inane stances. Then, when nomination times comes, he won't endorse his party's nominee -- having taken the benefits and ignored the responsibilities.
Ron Paul's stances -- Iran no threat and America respnsible for 9/11 -- lost him his son's endorsement and half his base. Thanks God the old fool is out of politices, or at least no threat.
I`d rather rank Mr. Ron Paul as the last Statesman in the US.
God Bless, Dr. !!
Ron is controlled opposition?
No. The ideas Ron Paul presents are the single largest threat to the status quo.
In a very complex way I think. To me it alludes to a very dangerous game being played at the top. The sort of stuff that people "disappear" over.
What is going on in the periphery will migrate to the core. What is happening in Detroit is a hard and fast case study of resource constraints. It is a failed state and has lost half its population. Now we have city attorneys in California telling the citizens in their bankrupt cities to lock their doors and load their guns. We are at the end of the exponential growth of government. The inevitable contraction is well underway. When systems collapse, they tend to collapse below their base line. We feel it in our bones. The zeitgeist reveals that we all suspect that something wicked this way comes .
First there will be cuts in services. Then the bureaucracies will begin to cannibalize themselves. Internecine warfare will breakout between the various agencies. Homeland Security may very well take down the CIA, the FBI and ATF. Agencies we don’t even know about will be incorporated, dismantled and cannibalized. The military is already being decapitated.
The winners of these power struggles will gloat in their gains but in the process they are creating very important, potent and powerful enemies. That realization may very well speak to the president’s memo about internal security leaks that was put out over Thanksgiving.
The interesting times we currently live in may very well evolve into frightening times. The FSA is ill equipped to fend for itself. The left has made a towering mistake in portraying our beloved leader as the messiah. That only works if he can truly bless the bread and fishes and feed the multitude. The overwhelming disappointment in the President’s inability to defy laws of physics will hit the FSA like a Daisy Cutter.
Blessing the money machine with exponential printing is not the same thing as providing needed goods and services. At some point the money blizzard ends with a debased currency and a collapsed economy. A freeze up in J.P. Morgan’s snap cards will burn the cities down. In such a crisis the only alternatives are the ominous FEMA camps.
The refugees from collapsed city states may willingly intern themselves. Those living in the red counties will resist such efforts. The age old conflict between the ants and the grasshoppers will resume. A barter economy cannot feed millions of dependents. The FSA has nothing to trade. Their only option is to martial the organs of the state and confiscate the means of their survival from those that have conserved and produced. This will be done at the barrel of a gun.
We are already there. Ours is a dictatorship of the majority. That majority has provisioned its selected leader with absolute power. We now live under the exact same circumstances that we lived under during the tenure of George III. We are not citizens with inalienable rights, we are subjects. We have no right to privacy. We have no right to property. Writs of assistance abound, and our very lives can be ended with a stroke of a pen. While this realization may give rise to despair, it should be remembered that this dictatorship is impotent without our cooperation.
What happens next is up to us. Rereading the documents of the founding fathers, reversing the exponential growth of government at all levels, and the returning of our political system to that which was envisioned at the time of the writing of the Constitution will save us. We must once again reinstitute the separation of powers. We must shrink the authority of the executive. We must limit the reach of the federal government into the states. We must end the effort to federalize everything.
We either do this willingly or lack of resources will force it upon us.
Outstanding is all I can say! Well, I could say alot more and would love to... but I have to leave now for awhile.
Before I leave, I want to say you have just crafted on the best posts I have ever seen on Zerohedge. Seriously. My hat is off to you Cloud9.5.
Thank you C.L.
Someone else posted a link to Detroit suggesting that it was effectively going to disband as a separate entity. Here's the reason:
November 21st, 2012, 8:50 AM
The City Council's rejection of a key legal contract Tuesday has left Detroit without $10 million in aid intended to keep the city solvent through December.
The council voted 8-1 against hiring the Miller Canfield law firm to handle parts of the city's reform agenda. Scores of angry residents lined up before the vote to implore the council to keep the state out of Detroit's affairs, Darren Nichols reports in the Detroit News.
Interestingly, on the same site, I spotted this:
A former hybrid technology engineer at General Motors and her husband face prison time for industrial espionage.
Federal court jurors in Detroit convicted Shanshan Du and Yu Qin on Friday of stealing valuable trade secrets, Ed White of the Associated Press reports. The pair are U.S. citizens who were born in China.
Perhaps they were merely attempting to balance the budget with sales to China?
I'd like to personally extend my thanks to the Detroit city council for refusing to accept the aid that was (overly) generously offered to the city by the state of Michigan. Although the personal arrogance and sense of entitlement of the council members and their constituents motivated that decision, it still leaves the dollars in my pocket. You're the best.

Cloud 9.5 post-
I agree this is one of the best posts I've ever seen on ZH. I would like to see more of your writings Cloud 9.5. Keep it comin'
-and thank you...
Thank you Fled.
"TIME FOR SOME THRILLING HEROICS."
I would agree with Cloud 9.5 assessment if America lived in a vacuum, but I think a more likely scenario would be that WW3 would be the bigger threat first.
Ours is a dictatorship of the majority.
Wrong. The dictatorship is of the predators, by the predators, for the predators. The "majority" is simply a fig leaf to hide from [almost] everyone the true nature of the predator plans - pure, naked, unadulterated, predatory tyranny, destruction, enslavement.
The majority did not vote for the creation of the federal reserve, for the monster corporate bailouts, for the patriot act, for the TSA, for undeclared predatory first-strike warfare, for endless swat team raids on regular folks, and endless other forms of predatory tyranny.
The majority did get suckered into voting for freebees, and for that they are guilty as charged. However, "the majority" and "democracy" are nothing but sound-bites to disable weak minded fools.
Otherwise, pretty good post.
I think the term dictatorship of the majority is apropos. Alexis De Tocqueville warned us of this in the very beginning in his book Democracy in America. He referred to it as Tyranny of the Majority. Quite simply the money fabricators, the political class and the dependent class have come together in an unholy alliance that now constitutes the majority. They have voted themselves the largess at the expense of the minority which consist of the productive class.
I could technically agree with that... IF... they had done so without blatantly and completely ignoring the constitution, which is the ultimate "law" of the land, and the ultimate framework under which this "republic with democratic mechanisms" was formed and supposedly operates.
But the important fact that you must consider is this --- they do not obey the constitution, or even their own laws. As such, they are not operating as a "democracy" in any real sense, they operate exactly and entirely as "predators-gone-wild" AKA "predatory tyranny".
I hope this conversation we are having is about distinguishing propaganda and sound-bites from reality. To be sure, "democracy" is a major part of the propaganda that prevents the masses from rebellion and revolution. As long as people think "it is our fault" to some degree, they will never take large-scale physical response to the endless atrocities practiced by the predators-that-be. But the operational reality is clear - pure predatory tyranny. The predators do what they want, when they want, without any restrictions. Hell, it isn't even limited to predators-DBA-government any more, it includes predators-DBA-corporations too (Jon Corzine, for example, as well as endless executives of large connected financial corporations).
I do think the phrase "dictatorship of the majority" is a potentially useful phrase, because that phrase is not too "scary" to be at least considered by some people close to being mainstream sheeple. That phrase might get some people thinking who otherwise would not think. And for that purpose, it may be useful, albeit dangerous for reasons I mentioned above.
As a practical matter, being part of a majority that forms a self-beneficial albeit unethical symbiosis can indeed be real source of power. It is always safer to be part of the largest gang, mostly because others won't even try to fight against your will, for fear of being squashed.
But as a matter of fact, a matter of accurate identification, what we have is a tyranny of predators, with a sufficient percentage of the population being paid parasites in order to create a situation in which the producers will not rebel.
Which is why I believe, at this [much-too] late state of affairs, the only viable approach for producers is... to stop producing (in the commercial realm). Sure, grow your own food, be productive, exchange goods and services with like-minded neighbors, continue to learn and sharpen skills, continue to grow and optimize productive abilities and machinery... but do not involve ones self in the commercial realm where benefits flow to the predators or parasites.
The predators and parasites cannot be beaten. But they can be starved. And if a sufficient percentage of producers adopt this approach, the predators and parasites can be starved to death or into submission. That appears to be the only remaining possibility (outside some miraculous breakthrough invention by some private individual or small group thereof).
In reality, the USSA is a "dictatorship of predators".
Western countries have past the point of no return somewhere in the last decade. The US has been transformed from a republic to a democracy. The EU is just in a more advanced state of democracy. Democracy leads to socialism, which leads to some form of communism or fascism. The only thing keeping the US from imploding completely so far has been the leftovers of what used to be the greatest capitalist economy in the world, still providing some resistance against all government stupidity and making it the best looking horse in the glue factory. At some point though the balance will shift to an unsustainable level and the system will break down. The danger comes after that event, as the people causing the crash may still be just as brainwashed as they were before, and therefore again coming to the wrong conclusions and solutions.
get over ron paul....he hasnt accomplished anything to better our country....talks a good game, but show me the results!
Millions of people have heard of Austrian economics and liberty because of Ron Paul. He has done more to spread the word than just about anyone.
and that has accomplished what?
It's like a garden hose against a burning building, with people who desire to see it burn pouring gasoline on it. There's so much to overcome that results are hard to see right now. It would be nice to get a little help.
Apparently we have him to thank for the corruption of "Liberty" by the lemmings of Austrian economics.
Or so the Austrian neo-liberals would have us believe.
It all begins with an idea. The idea is what seperates a revolution from a riot.
Please explain how Ron Paul could have thwarted the predators and accomplished liberty for all. What actions from this one individual would have accomplished that (other than exercizing the power of president, which he attempted)? And if you know of such actions, and do not execute them, then you are worst of all.
To accomplish great and difficult results generally requires more than one man. Think about it.

By this point, either the Tylers know about this robot account, and don't care / have reasons for leaving it, or aren't in the mood to ban it.
/ignore it or think of it as a test of knowledge
Using an “online covert employee,” the feds posed as terrorism sympathisers in order to gauge the potential threat posed by certain individuals. In one case, they say they got a 21-year-old Mexico-born man to admit he was keen to pursue jihad in order to “stop the oppressors.” Other sections of the complaint detail how the FBI was somehow able to obtain audio and video recordings of Skype conversations in which their confidential informant participated.[1]
But perhaps most interesting is how the feds monitored social networks. One part of the complaint, headed “DEFENDANTS' SOCIAL MEDIA,” lists Islamist content the men had “liked”, “shared”, commented on or posted on their Facebook pages.
Just be aware of that when you upvote anywhere. Or perhaps "Woggie you are a FUCKING ASSHOLE." might be re-described as "Defendant commented on a virulent anti-Presidental racist post".
Be Seeing You.
[1] Skype has been unsecure for ages, but since MS bought it, not safe without encryption, and even then, it's vulnerable to M-in-M attacks.
The FSA, the banks and government are a mutually reinforcing system. What they have are votes, the currency and the threat of force. Bureaucrats just like the FSA plantation that they manage cannot feed themselves. The bankers are in the same boat. They all depend on the manipulation of the currency and the threat of force to extract from the producers what they need. Right now slave labor in the third world is keeping the system afloat. Meanwhile as evidenced by unemployment figures and closed businesses, more and more American producers are throwing in the towel and joining the FSA.
The reserve status of our currency is all that is keeping this ball in the air. I doubt very seriously that the threat of force is going to keep the slave labor of the world working for our benefit.
What he should say is "why I don't want the job of SEC Chairman" cuz you see folks...when GOLD is your collateral and you are goin to part with the paper...you do your homework on lending standards. This system DEFINITELY creates SOUND BANKING. This is ESPECIALLY true when lending to Governments...."those who would deny the bank itself a benefit" for example. So while my Anger Language might be off a little of late...my principle of Sound Money through Sound Lending is not.

Obama and the Libs are the consequences of just such a policy. Paul is wrong.
Real change, change that works must come from a realistic upper class not young people on campus. I think we can rule out any good results.
Real change happens when criminals go to prison and treasonous bastards are shot.
You got that right.
And this is exactly what shows how far beyond the point of no return the USSA has gone. Every big-time predator in the USSA now knows he can do virtually anything and suffer zero jail time, and increasingly not even a serious investigation or a token fine. Example: Corzine. This is the tip-off that every observant human should recognize for what it is --- predators now control everything "official".
Preaching Libertarianism from a Republican post is like preaching Christianity from a Roman Catholic or Mormon pulpit. Although it might seem similar, most people can sense the hypocrisy. Until you piss people off with the truth, you're really just along with the status quo. RP may have said he stood for something different, but until you separate yourself from the ones that are the problem(disassociate from the GOP), you are really just along for the ride.
I think that's easy to say, and has an element of truth to it, but ignores the very real problems he describes. He had a chance to have ZERO influence the past 40 years by being an "outsider", versus SOME influence as an "insider-in-label-only". He chose the later approach.
While I tend to take purist approaches too, at least we must give Ron Paul the respect he deserves for never voting as an "insider", and doing the best he could given his personality.
Ron Paul invested a lot of his life promoting liberty, probably more than all but 0.001% of the liberty movement. He deserves credit for that. Furthermore, if just a few percent of americans invested the time and effort he has, a fair degree of liberty would exist today.
Ron Paul is right about the colleges. They know what is going more than older people these days. The people with jobs don't really have a clue because they don't see much difference in the daily lives. But the students at least at the college I attend will get to hear my speech this upcoming week on returning to the gold standard. They liked my FED speech.
Bitcoin has a presence at MIT.
So I don't know where the early comments about this post are coming from as students not knowing what is going down. They do know more than any other group of people.
What suprised me was that the professors also know more than other professionals about the bankster/NoWO take over of the US and Europe.
Of course the professors know about the NWO takeover - they've been strong NWO participants and supporters for decades.
Hey Tyler? Can you have one of your chart guru's make a chart comparing civilian welfare numbers compared to corporate welfare? Then we can see who the real welfare rats are?
Just sit back and watch the movie. Nothing can be done about it. Things are too locked in and the momentum is too great. The Socialists, Communists, Keynesians, Capitalists and Fascists have been given a long rope to hang themselves with and they are in the process of doing so over this 100+ year cycle. They have made a mess of it and that is what will be written in the history books.
The resolution of government and society depends upon the resolution of the human mind and human spirit. That is the common denominator of all man's troubles. End of story.
You don't have to get a contract from government to make more money as much of money supply is created by commercial banks.
Ron Paul, for president of The Republic of Texas!
This is getting old.
Paul wimped out about legally challenging the vote count in Iowa. He should have had his people in there overseeing the vote recount(s). Actually it was known in advance the vote count would be switched to a non public place so he should have gotten his lawyers on it before the vote so his team could watch the count. He blew 2008 for not challenging the vote.
He could have passed his immense following to Gary Johnson but he refused to pass the torch, and he told everyone he couldn't get on the ballots bc of ballot access laws. While it's true there are ballot access laws designed to keep non establishment candidates down, that didn't stop Gary Johnson from challenging many ballot restrictions and winning.
Another thing that bothers me about him is he whined about bad laws passed when congress left early for the holidays, but he didn't stick around to vote against them.
Ron Paul = milk toast
fuck ron paul. he's controlled opposition. he never took up the cause of election fraud when he was in a position to do so during two election primaries. and a third party run was exactly what he should have done. his role the last six years was to grease the wheels for the introduction of a gold based currency and, most importantly, to attract and control the dissenting voices in this country with the polite rhetoric of constitutional principles.
HEAT SINK.
Everyone here talks about and focuses on what doesn't matter. Here at ZH people are supposed to be aware, informed and outside the box. But most everyone here is caught up in the facades, dog and pony shows and misdirection that is put out. Ron Paul... Dems... Repubs... Fed Reserve... none of this matters. Most people here are concentrating on a system that has to collapse before there can be any chance of sanity and truth and survival. Might as well just devote your life to watching sports on TV. Same thing... silly games that distract from real life.
...because the campuses are alive and well with these views and they know the system is bankrupt. ....
I hope he is right. I get the feeling the campuses are now run by the rat race; to succeed.
And more into narcissistic sex culture. The Internet has spread this in all of young people's world.
Its now mainstream culture. We have lost our priorities; of always placing heart before pleasure; not that I believe in moral straight jackets; but I do in sincerity; which implies sharing not just "me first".
indeed, porn culture is the narcissistic sex culture, pavlovian please seekers, and nothing beats the rewards.
I've read here that young people overwhelming voted Obama/overwhelmingly voted Paul, blahblah - did a quick search and couldn't find anything but spin, then remembered there's no such thing as accuracy in "voting" numbers.
the campuses are varied, but a party-theme runs through them all - frat boys giving each other beer enemas?? seriously, two generations back, that would seem astonishing - now, it's just "funny"
porn culture offers self-centered pleasure in place of integrity.
Small vote for totally amateur porn where both sides are consentual and happy, no money is involved, nor revenge stuff and so forth.
*Ahem*
Base male, there has to be some outlet.
Actually, the new wave porn of James Deen and Stoya others are actually pretty postive, but that's just what I've heard. Not read their blogs at all. Ahem. Let's just say it isn't the old plastic model - they're real people, often do Reddit IAMAs and so forth.
Porn is now for the people! (And that's a good thing)
the spigot's open, no holding back the tide, all that's left is to point at it, hmm.
I can see the value in people questioning their culturally assigned sex-roles, and some porn does this, some celebrates the sex act-ing, some celebrates the participants - but most just repeats the now defunct but still won't die storyline, because of course, the mind lays the cable deep when pleasure digs the trenches. . .
pandora's box is open'd, who knows what will pop out next!
fingers crossed.
There's some hope: those ideals are long dead within our sphere. The dual antithesis of 'bigger is better' and 'only the male orgasm exists' are long gone... long, long, long gone (barring the regressive).
Finding the lone males who still believe it is an exercise in Religious Doctrine rankings. (Nary a surprise there, of course).
What worries me more is the first link has a large banner ad that goes to this. It's a common tactic - we'll call it "devisive linking". It is used to push the progressive to the regressive. Oh, the balance burns, it does.
The very name makes me flex my shoulder muscles and spread them.
Let's change that:
From her to eternity

Take those how you find them. Myself? Cloudy with a chance of meatballs.
[1]Note the 'balance' in action in there to the advertised link.. How crude these tools, and how crude they assume their audience.
barring the regressive, *nods*
I'm not seeing a funeral parade for these ideals as yet, but it's the wave withdrawing before the inevitable tsunami crashes on shore, of that I'm sure. the only constant, and all that. . . the great re-balancing is begun.
that re-direct - I was deprived of the temptation, as I block ads, but yes, that was an interesting intercept. . . I'll have to listen again because I'll admit to being thoroughly distracted by the sound of the auto-harp clothes-pinned. too many years spent over-seeing a studio mixing desk, on behalf of.
and then. that bad seed! a long history, and not many KevinBacon degrees apart, all the way back to the B'day Party *inhales* one of my guilty pleasures, rock will trip me up often, through ye olde habits.
for instance, one of his incarnations, Grinderman - all very tongue in cheek exploit(s), yet very Rock Preservationist in the obvious. . . interesting to see he's taking up an old label (NC & TBS) yet the dudes pictured look more like Grinders than Seeds. . . ah, Rowland, you are missed.
but those new lyrics. . . no need to forgive. . . given his Wiseblood fixation, interesting. . .
as to what will arise phoenix like from the ashes of religious structured gender-minds, who can say? I'm just here to listen.

reply to [1]: "The uploader has not made this video available in your country." so no ad seen there either. . .
Ah, mis-step, no need to turn off protective wards. Meant the banner ads: PJ Harvey "Man Size" has a large banner ad for "How to Destroy Angels" by "Ice Age".
As for Into my arms, it's Youtube; I was referring to the bannar ad for "Wil.I.Am & Britney Spears - Scream and Shout", should be universally playable, not sure where you went there...
heh, I'm never sure exactly where I go when online, particularly clickin' music links.
but they've become more appealing of late.
and just when I was getting ready to pack it all in, *wry smile*
Ron Paul is a wonderful man/ he has a son?
funny you should ask.
palindrome.
If there will ever be a "3rd Party", it must begin now, just as one election cycle ended. It also should start with a platform, so that the usual interlopers like Palin (Sarah, not Michael) or the Kochs would have more trouble coming in after the fact. Limit its scope to force issue recognition, rather than dilute the message. For example, anti-deficit, anti-printing, anti-bailout. No wingnuts as spokespeople. Certainly there are plenty of former mainstream insider types who are fed up and have the kind of credibility necessary for the MSM to pay attention. David Stockman comes to mind. Jim Grant, too. Play the game "their" way and toss in some media or Hollywood figure (Matt Damon?) to attract eyeballs and maybe it can gain momentum sufficient to carry the idea into 2014 or 2016. The RP style failed to gain real traction, for whatever reason, but a couple of suits and paparazzi targets---even if they spout a very different message than the norm---are less likely to be ignored.
Okay, hopelessly naive, but what the heck. I'll join and I'll work for it.
