Friday Humor: Deck The Halls With Macro Follies
The next time someone has the temerity to tell you you can't spend your way to uber-wealth, first spit in their non-Keynesian face, and then make yourself a little richer by buying the following broken record (or CD): "Deck the halls with Macro follies" featuring the following mega hits "Oh GDP" by Paul Samuelson and "Income Equals Expenditure" By J.M Keynes (as well as their far less known B-siders such as Hayek).
So don't delay, and get rich today the moar, moar, moar, moar spending way.

Put me down for 10 Trillion.
<And put it on my neighbor's tab please.>
Mighty generous of you CD, may I offer you someone else's cigarettes and coffee? lol ;)
Is that Stalin on the cover?
. Is that Stalin on the cover?
No, Stalin is NEXT to the CD case disguised as little Santa ;-)

Well, you know big black families. We're all descended from Thomas Jefferson, Batman, Fitty Cent, or something cool.
So... 'George Jefferson' came from Thomas Jefferson... I never knew that...
This is a terroristy album and Fahrenheit 451 firefighters are on their way to burn homes of those listening to it.
Too much truthiness. Stiffle yourself.
I suspect I'll want a blindfold with those cigarettes and coffee. You know...........for the firing squad.
<And another 5 trillion to leave to the wife and kids while you're at it.>
Yes, it is like that. Basically the politicians and economists are like a hot chick at a bar (or maybe she isn't that hot but we have been at the punch bowl for awhile) and she saddles up next to us and asks for a drink.
I never went to bed with an ugly woman... but I woke up with a few...

No worries, CD. Germany will pay for everything, until they don't.
Don't you mean our great great great great great grandchildren's tab? We will ever know them anyway so why do we care?
I will cherish the day when the financial system collapses and with it the pseudo-science of economics.
Imagine Krugman pounding the table with both fists screaming, "It's a science, damn it!"
My guess is that will be the day that the pseudo-science is enshrined as our only hope from the evil Austrians.
The idea that any collapse will usher in a true recovery is merely wishful thinking.
It's a Prison Planet for a reason.
To start off the New Year Europe suffers a bond crisis when bank after bank begs for bailouts due to absolute insolvency. The ECB mitagates the collapse at first by handing out free checks but by late month it is too much and rates go parabolic. It spills over to the US markets when it is shown that US banks have massive positions on European debt.
January 29th:
The DJ flash crashes and is now trading at 6k. The market has blamed the panic on a failed bank, this time Morgan Stanley, for the crash. MS is said to have a large exposure to Spanish debt. Bernanke has issued a statement that the Fed stands ready to do everything possible to maintain the financial system stays solvent.
Two days later....
After halting trading on the 30th and closing all banks to depositors the Fed has announced it will increase exposure to the bond markets and will increase the money supply to do so.
The day after this announcement, Friday Feb 1st, the markets open and trading is volatile. FX trades are so wide that the eur/usd trade spreads between 1.20 and 1.35 in the same session. Oil spikes when Japan is rumered to take the same measures as the Fed and ECB. The BoE is also pledging its support.
With the DJ pushing below 6k oil has risen to $150. Gold is now above $2k and silver has broken above $75/oz. People begin cashing out their IRAs in a panic. Instead of riots though there is a cold sense of wonder across the faces of Americans.
After the weekend the markets open up. The DJ is now trading above 11k, but oil is above $200/b. This is due to a 30% loss in the dollar vs all other currencies. Bernanke says this will help support the system. Rioting and looting begins across America. The looting takes all food off of the shelves and it even spreads to Best Buy and Apple stores. People not rioting have locked themselves in their homes and boarded their doors in fear.
Riots are also in Europe. There are mass demonstrations there calling for resignations of all governments. Things fall apart quickly when riots move to the Central Banks. The IMF issues a statement calling for a world currency when all currencies begin debasing dramatically vs oil. By the end of the first week of Fenruary oil is trading at $250/b....
If this happens would you expect people to support the IMF, or tell them to get lost?
Sadly, I'm feeling similar pessimism. Five or so years ago, one may have believed that "awareness" alone might cut it. But as a close MS friend often repeats, "No matter what we know, most of us still have to play the game."
And more than likely, even post-collapse, most will accept their new "role" handed them without question.
So what's the solution? The idea that any of us could effectively impliment a "new formula" in the face of this police-state.wallstreet.gov is highly unlikely, no matter how bad "a crash." As you state, NApp, "It's a Prison Planet for a reason."
The attempts to "explain" our situation to those who follow the mainstream hopium is futile. Although rewarding at times, most of us realize its a turn-off for the sheep. Cognitive dissonance and all else...
So again, what to do?
Personally, I've stopped with the detailed "explanations" of economic reality. I've begun to simply laugh, scoff, repeat phrases with a giggle like, "you actually believe that shit?" Details are only given to those who inquire. And even then, reluctantly. As if to suggest, "I can't believe I have to sit here and explain this obvious shit to you, you're supposed to be a bright guy."
In effect, I've begun to mock them. I find it more rewarding and more effective.
Everyone here knows the "first they ignore, then they ridicule, etc etc..."
That 2nd part, is critical. The ridicule.
We must more effectively ridicule the establishment and those who have succumb to its message. And by "we" I mean ALL those who know that the mainstream media message is bogus, and that the establishment doesn't "GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU." - Carlin
Our belief origins, whether founded in capitalism, socialism, libertarianism, etc need to be tabled. The message can't show mixed messages or descent. Banzai's Santa sleigh under a sky full of drones with that "PEACE ON EARTH" message... for example. Awesome. But zh'ers seeing it is one thing, 30 million zombie peasants would be another.
The ridicule needs to be targeted. It has to be intense. It has to have more "mass" appeal. And it has to be RELENTLESS. No anger, no conspiracies, no A to the motherfucking K, no secession shit... Just sensible RIDICULE... a message that both a DRUDGE and a HUFFPO could use simultaneously.
Sadly, IMO, we have to play their game in any hope to influence the game. Targeted ridicule has been their game. Relentless targeted ridicule has to be our game.
The media outlets, particulary FOX and MSNBC MUST be targets. This is the immediate competition. They must become the laughing stock of American media.
It will take coordination beyond anything that is out there now. Zh is a great beginning. But as the BIG SUCK continues, most of us find ourselves arguing about details and differences that, as of now, we have little real influence over.
This has to change.
I'll admit, all this sounded a hell of alot easier and "better" over the beers last night. But after my quick re-read, I don't think its impossible.
The foundations are already here for those who are awake. The websites, the messages, have sprouted since '08. And yet even with the websites, the messages, all of us... WE still remain the target of ridicule.
Collectively, we are all too far apart in our belief origins to have the impact I believe we all desire. Seldom are we able to send OUR ridicule of the establishment viral. The messages have appeal to some, but alienate many as the right/left paradigm remains too entrenched.
Fuck defense. Fuck defending our position to our family and friends. Time for offense. Time to place the WAFFLING on FOXBUS and CNBS... Time the ridicule elevates them to point where it is universally accepted that these "media institutions" are complicit in the fraud.
I await the flaming for my "hopium."
But before you flame me, let the idea swim around a bit.
Or just get back to prepping and arguing with one another. I know... I like to do it too.
Cheers bitchez.
Delusion has no limits. He will be just mumbling to himself: "I told them it wasn't enough, the moar the better... the moar the better"
So what the hell did posterity ever do for us anyway?
Funny shit
If you haven't got a penny then a haypenny will do............
Shit far. Anyone else remember the old English copper pennies.., the size of silver dollars? Wish I had a warehouse full of them.

Where can I max out my credit card on these CD's?
You're doing it wrong. Use your neighbor's credit card instead.
<Good! I see you're finally getting the hang of it.>
The Krugman Follies of 2012.
Classic. Well done...
Merry Christmas.
No shit.
My friend used to work for Lehman Brothers.
During the holiday season, he would splurge on coke and hookers.
He says getting out of the financial industry is the best thing that happened to him.
He's not as rich as he used to be. But he says he's happier.
Screwing people can actually make you suicidal. That's what he told me.
Which is why there's always so much focus on the aggregates. Less personal that way.
Why would anyone down arrow this?
+100 For Hayek's Triangle Christmas Ornament!
lol didn't even notice that! Well spotted.
the three wise men today would bring EBT cards, obammy phones, and HEAP applications rather than all that cumbersome gold, frankinscence and myrrh.
Spend spend spend it now America! Spend it like its your last day! Because it just might me. Lets get that money velocity rolling and hyperinflate all those Bernanke bucks before the year ends!
That was great, really good stuff.
Whoops, off to the mall, as soon as that Fedex guy gets out my driveway ...
Familiar descending triangle at 4:12. Coincidence? ..or do I need to go outside?
What a fucking Nerdish video.
