Inside The Bank Of England's Gold Vault
For those who think any documented presentation of the physical gold held by the world's oldest central bank usually takes place on a movie set in Burbank, CA here is a video featuring University of Nottingham's chemistry professor Professor Martyn Poliakoff (of all people) from within the bowels of the world's second largest gold repository supposedly disproving this (whose comment "one's first reaction is that it can't possibly be real" may be far more accurate than he can possibly imagine). Why the BOE would change its long held tradition of keeping its gold miles away from the public's eye (very much the same way Bob Pisani's dramatic descent into the GLD vault was a straight-to-DVD B-grade thriller) is anyone's guess, especially now that Goldman is about to take the helm of this most venerable of money-printing institutions. But we are delighted they have: we are confident with this precedent set, that the New York Fed will promptly grant some US chemistry professor the right to inspect and "document" the hundreds of tons of flood-resistant gold it too holds safely 80 feet underground, it not a member of the German parliament of course. Finally, if anyone can see Bundesbank's gold bars, please raise your hand.

My first thought was just where can I rent a tunnel boring machine...
Nothing to see here Amerika. Trust in the FEDS and Odumba and all will be well .
Why now ?
Every few months they have to have a hitpiece. Last spring Bernanke gave his lecture series to GWU where he pointed out how the gold standard did not work as well as the fiat standard. Then this summer Pisani was blindfolded and sent to Barclays ishares GLD vault. In three months Mandy will go on a pub crawl and show that drinking Goldshlauger makes her nipples prickly finishing the night at a jewelry store to purchase some diamonds.
Old men everywhere will comment "Gold can not be money if this babe wears it around her neck. This is caveman stuff."
a ton of tungsten on every shelf.
it belongs to all sorts of people who will never get any of it.
Take a number the same number for 1,000 other suckers!
Wealth redistibution.
if you can't lift you must aquitt!
Perfect excuse to never deliver.
You can't lift them they're too heavy and they'll tear through the evelope.
There is only one way to break the cycle of debt slavery.
Stop borrowing money.
If everyone lived within their actual means, and bought only what they really needed and could afford, the banksters would have to find real jobs instead of just living off the blood sacrifices we offer them.
He derives a great deal of credibility from his fro.
I'll take the heavier bar can we call it an even exchange?
It's terrible looking at all this gold. You don't want it anyway!
Wouldn't you rather have 100 Rolls Royces?
I'd rather have 1000 Rolls Royces.
I'd rather suck on Mandy's nipples
(see above)
I work in industry, and our steel racks are built ten times stronger than those rickety looking, angle iron shelves. They aren't welded at the joints. There's something like welds, but they are below the actual joints. As if to keep one from telescoping down over the lower one.
Look where the shelf's leg fits to the one beneath it, they aren't even aligned very well. Very shakey for a million dollars worth of bricks. 1 1/2" horizontals and 2" uprights, on a green tile floor. Tons after tons after tons. It would be worth your life to load or unload those shelves if that was solid gold.
The joints aren't welded, the pallets connect & stack up ... freeze the vid and look at the top pallet, see the pin.
Standard one tonne load pallet designed to be moved and stored with fork lift truck, no big deal there. You cans stack them much higher than six as well, to the proverbial roof in fact, as long as they don't move (wobble), which they won't if no one touches it.
Also, spreader plates on the floor under the pallet stack spreads weight load across the floor.
Ok, if you say so. I wasn't familiar with them. Gold is so heavy, those look weak.
Either way it's older typical British overly heavy shite quality crap.
War's and rumors [eg. wwi ] of wars, begets a fiat currency when all else fails?'
Quote: The Fortuitous Fed [rothbard /1984]
" the massive u.s. loans to the allies, and the subsequent american entry [ the british and french were weakening and the germans were beginning to show signs of a victory... panic struck the bankers-- the u.s. must enter the war ] into the war, could not have been financed by the relatively hard-money, gold standard that existed before 1914. fortuitously, an institution was established at the end of 1913 that made the loans and war finance possible: the federal reserve system [remember the name-- glass?]. by centralizing reserves, by providing a government-privileged lender of last resorts to the banks [tbtf's , qe's, backdoor bailout of eu, etc., etc., it's all good?] the fed enabled the banking system to inflate money and credit, finance loans to to the allies, and float massive deficits once the u.s. entered the war. in addition, the seemingly odd fed policy of creating an acceptance market out of thin air by standing ready to purchase acceptance at a subsidized rate, enabled the fed to re-discount acceptance on munitions exports" __ end
every oligarchy in the u.s. won: ie., morgan's people [morgan was now a *second place actor; at the time he was unaware of how frierce his up-and-comers-were!... the oilman], rockefeller's people @ #1, and of course everybody's, go-to-guy... mr. big bucks, [doesn't get a number, for all are n.a.?] the rothschild's!
after wwi had ended in 1919 with the 'treaty of Versailles' signing [formation/ implementation of the league of nations] there're inflation problems soon to follow!
'Gold Standard or not... that is the question?'
Quote rothbard [1984]:
"The major fruit of the norman-strong collaboration was strong being pressured to inflate money and credit in the u.s. throughout the 1920's {strong -- gov. of the n.y. fed.-- 1913-1928 [deceased 1928?]}, in order to keep england from losing gold to the u.s. from its inflationary policies. britain's predicament came from its insistence on going back to the gold standard after the war at the highly overvalued pre-war par for the pound, and then insisting on inflation rather than deflating to make its exports competitively priced in the world market {the u.s. gets the best of both world's today. seeing that we export all our resources [fiat money holding on by a hegemonic fibre?] off shore, and importing deflation... great!}. hence, britain needed to induce other countries, particularly the u.s., to inflate along with it. the strong-norman-*morgan connection [ norman-- gov. of the b.o.e.] did the job, setting the stage for the great financial collapse of 1929-1931" __ end "DEpression"!!!
sorry for the long comment, 'can't help myself'
All you need to know about the IQ level of sheeple this was scripted for is revealed in a single sound bite..
“no money is allowed here, to make sure we don’t take anything out” (0:54)
.. or then, maybe it just reflects the IQ level of the big bird-brain professor.
Next thing you know they will clap coconuts together to convince us a horse is present.
That guy looks like Sam Jaffe on meth!!
This legalized theft and hoarding of public gold is at the core of why the Western public is becoming dirt poor.
Hmmmmmm.....The Prof said they were not allowed to go into the other "storage rooms"......maybe because they are Empty??
It's Christmas time, they would have enough tinsel lying around
That video causes salivation.
If only he was saying that it wasn't real lol....
But of all people to "educate" the people, really? A chemistry professor?
Better than a fucking eCONomist in my book.

Could this be the London gold discovered from WWII, but never explained?
Stash of £156BILLION in gold bars"Found" Stored Underground in London Still Not ExplainedI already posted this, but I believe that in this context it might be interesting a video of Italian gold, stored in Bank of Italy vaults.
The language is Italian, of course:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u4iSEQOxyk
Thanks, that was an interesting comparison and much more impressive. The Italians seem more professional with their gold storage. Didn't fully understand the story behind the Nazi gold unfortunately.
Much more believable :-)
Looks like my basement.

This is obviously meant to diffuse the requests for repatriation from countries who have Gold stored there. Of course, ownership and hypothecation records are what is really needed.
Anyway, there are some great pictures of this vault that were published in the Daily Mail Online in Feb 2012 here:

This guy looks and sounds a lot like Marty Feldman ... maybe the video is pure Monty Python
Why after several years of intense inquiry, do the banks finally relent and allow "inspections" of gold, when such "inspections" such as these are so superficial.
In other words, why was it so "difficult" a few years ago to even allow on short notice unanounced peeks of the gold?
Even Hollyood can whip up movie sets like these in a matter of a few weeks, can't they?
This is such a great video as it lays out some facts. And couple this with a few BOE facts
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_of_England
The Bank of England is the fifteenth largest custodian of gold reserves, holding around 4600 tonnes
The Video detailed that each full shelf equals ONE TON. Each full shelf top to bottom has 5 tons
UK Claims to hold 500 "shelves" at this location. Do you see 500 shelves. 500 shelves = 10 rows of 10 shelves (5 Tons per shelf).
Add on Germany's shelves. Do you see 500 more shelves total equals 20 rows of 10 shelves (5 tons per).
Now look at the BOE "facts" 4600 Shelves of Gold. From the video do you see 920 shelves. That is 92 Rows of 10 shelves (each 5 tons). If I am not mistaken from the video I do not see anywhere NEAR 920 shelves.
920 Shelves would be using the estimated calculation 3 foot full shelf (spaced 6 inches apart) 6 feet on center apart. 54 feet long rows 552 Feet wide or 29,808 square Foot Room. That room does not look like it is 29,808 square feet
My off the cuff calculation from the video shows about 6 Rows of 15 shelves. One Row = 75 Tons x 6 Rows = or 450 Tons, more or less.
One Row = 75 Tons
approx 6 Rows shown in video, maybe 6.5 since one is short
Video shows more or less 500 tons
Lets call this UK's Gold of 500 Tons. If that Room stores UK gold, where is the German Gold. Where is the OTHER 4100 Tons of Gold?
This video might want to shout "Achtung" to any smart German.
Edit: On second look the shelves hold 6 Tons of Gold, so add 15 more tons of gold per row, but the point is the same. 450 tons plus 75 more counting the very top shelf (525 tons). STILL is a shitload less than 46,000 tons.
video shows 6 tons per shelf = 15 per row and approx 6-7 rows. Or somewhere between 540 tons and 630 tons and that does not account for the short and half rows that are in the video.
4600 Tons using the 15 shelves per row and 6 Tons per shelf (top to bottom) would equal over 50 full rows of 15 shleves per row. or a warehouse that is a minimum 306 feet wide, and over 52 feet long. A warehouse that has an absolute minimum square foot footprint of 16,065 and that would not include space to move around a forklift or other equipment in the center. Even with 6 Tons per shelf, it is going to be a VERY large space
That Einstein-ian looking goober forgot to show us the wine vault? What Gives?
wtf so who's dude with the Phil Spector fro?
No way in fucking hell that much gold is laying around like donuts at a krispy kreme.
Total scam.
if that gold stash was legit and was in that building and published like that?
There would be an all out assault from anybody and everybody to take it.
What a bunch of bullshit.
The pointe is Does anyone, have full Faith in their(sovereign) Central Bank? Does anyone expect to be REPAID Legal Tender?

Notice he says: "MONEY RESERVES". Berstank and Timmah, are you listening?
What have we learned from this video kiddies?? That the central banks are gold bugs and yet continue to bash it...Real money does make the world go round!
If anyone can get ahold of the COngressional testimony of Bernanke discussing his gold reserves it would make for a great ZH article.
I will re-enact it for you now:
Congressman Ducheface: Do you have gold at the Fed?
Bernanke: No, we...uh...[Bernanke turns around and looks over his shoulder as he covers the mic with his hand]...uhm, yes, we do...[turns back over his shoulder, someone is telling him]...uh, we hold gold on reserve from the Treasury in certificate form.
Funny Stuff ZH! You would think they would face all the bars out so the serial numbers are showing. I expect to see lucite jewel edged boxes; (gold getting dusty down there) then paint the walls some Willy Wonka colors... Add some muzak like "King of the Road"..?. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qgmxPb-ego LOL

Meh. Timing is everything. After the German Gold scandal, they emptied the "other rooms" to make the last Gold pile as large as possible, then decided to allow this video which revealed a maximum of 500 tons remaining. Ah, another year or two before that's all gone as well. Question: What comes first - hyperinflation or LBMA default?
