A smart man you are chump! A lot of risk has been moved from Asia to Europe all week long. Hence trades like aud/usd & aud/jpy are not overly long anymore.
As the markets were ramping all week those trades amongst others were bleeding off. Asian equity markets are another can of worms/ no worse than Europe and North America though.

You are right. There is no defense. I don't know what is wrong with our government, except that probably for the last 30 years we've been electing playboys and empty suits instead of anyone with a rational plan. Doing so because a rational plan would involve painful choices, and Americans don't do well making painful choices. We couldn't even enter WWII correctly until the Japanese could be convinced to blast us into rat shit. We're not the most resolute bunch of monkeys, is the problem.

I said last week JB was fighting 2 fights. One with Obummer and the 2nd with his own party for votes. The problem with conservatives (or at least the GOP)over the last 10 years is they stopped being conservative. There was no distinction in most people's minds. I am all for closing corporate and other loopholes and don't care if they raise taxes on those over 1M...but the truth is that we all know taxes don't grow GDP...in fact it lowers it. Govt needs to be cut by 30-50%. Not overnight, but over a decade. Returning that capital to the private sector and changing some of the bs that is hindering innovation (Obammacare/tax structure/regulation) is the only way to put US back on growth trajectory.
Back to the circus. I am glad the conservative members of GOP said no to this sham. The Dems think they will be run out of office. No, just the opposite like in 2010....the establishment GOP will be run out. And hopefully the looney free spending Dems as well. Let's see if the Senate actually does something vs just hiding behind Obamma's teleprompter.
My bet, before end of year a deal will be made.....but it will be just as worthless to our long term issues as the debt ceiling debate was last year. But hey, the sheep will be satisfied that the S&P will be 1600 by end of 2013...as long as Ben is in charge.
