Senator Baucus Sums Up The Winning Trade Of 2012
In a just aired Bloomberg TV interview, Senator Max Baucus provided the most succinct summation of the state of our nation now and for most of 2012, as well as the winningest trading strategy of the past year:
there is "a lot of hope and faith" in the 3pm White House Meeting.

There is a TON of commentary about how Boehner has to sell tax increases to the House.
The truth is there are 6 Democrat Senators from Red states up for re-election in 2014 and it is THEY who won't support much of this stuff.
The party out of power usually wins seats. The GOP's position for 2014 is strong.

You obviously missed how much of the "human action" over the past few centuries has been motivated by those of "faith and hope".
Usually at the expense of some other humans' "faith and hope".

Agreed knukles, when I had my awakening, things changed. You cannot get "unfucked" no matter how hard you try.
I cannot stomach the vast majority of "things" that make up our culture nowadays. TV? Cannot watch program television. Anything where there is a commercial. I think too much. Like what happened to cable tv? We used to pay to avoid watching commercials. Now? Shit, I can barely watch a video clip on the internet, cause guess what? Commercials.
Cars? I used to like them to drive. Now they are little mini blinders that keep us from seeing the world while we move from cage to cage.
I just thank God that I can still see life for what it can be. Spend some time out in the woods, away from things. Dropping a line in this weekend. Nothing like a crisp winter night to see the stars.
Each day is a challenge. Every now an again I wish I was like those people you see. Happily lost in their own little cognitive dissonance of truly important events and 0% interest furniture.
But when things get bad, and they will, you will be thankful that you have realized what the world is really like. Fear is caused by not knowing.

I think if nothing comes together on the fiscal cliff that at least one piece of legislation passes. That Harry Reid and John Boehner have to switch first names. Cause we'll all need a laugh.

Why does this remind me of how the EU 'solves' its problems?
The Fiscal Cliff legislation was designed, mostly, as strong medicine for our out-of-control fiscal policy. But it is being portrayed as a poisoned pill, one that must never be taken. Strong medicine will have it's unsavory side-effects, but let's take it, knowing that we will recover more strongly by this time next year.
I'm just glad I took my well-being into my own hands a few years back........
Hope and faith to what, at best reduce a $1.2 trillion annual deficit to $1 trillion (either by reducing spending, increasing taxes, or a combination producing $200 billion a year)? The fiscal cliff discussion/debate is the biggest farce this country has ever witnessed and reminds me of the line in the movie Gladiator when the senators are discussing the use of Fear and Wonderment by the new emporer upon his return (to keep the masses in-line and distracted). In this case, fear = going over the fiscal cliff and wonderment = when some BS deal is cut between the leaders that it proves the political system does in fact work. Fear and Wonderment, a very powerful combination indeed to which the sheepie will be hoodwinked into thinking all is well.
Same political BS that is running rampant in the US is also being mirrored in Europe by politicians or bankers stating the worst of the debt crise is behind us. Last I checked, Europe was in a recession, southern Europe unemployment was in excess of 25%, and each and every day, soverign debt levels continue to increase.
Let's face it, the only thing which has been resolved over the past four years is that western governments will continue to spend well beyond their means and that CBs are now the primary funding mechanism to support this funding. Period, end of story, game over as a decade ago, the outright monetization of soverign debt would have been unthinkable and unacceptable by the market. Today, it's just another day in paradise.
AND when you do the NPV thingy for all future liabilities the annual deficit grows to 1.5 Trillion to 2.1 Trillion(depends on interest rates), so the 200 Billion is essentially just chump change.
