Ron Paul On The Fiscal Cliff: "We Have Passed The Point Of No Return"

Tyler Durden's picture

In a little under three minutes, Ron Paul explains to a somewhat nonplussed CNBC anchor just how ridiculous the charade that is occurring in D.C. actually is. This succinct spin-free clip should be required viewing for each and every asset-manager, talking-head, propagandist, and mom-and-pop who are viewing the last-minute idiocy of the 'fiscal cliff' debacle with some hope that things will be different this time. "We have passed the point of no return where we can actually get our house back in order," Paul begins, adding that "they pretend they are fighting up there, but they really aren't. They are arguing over power, spin, who looks good, who looks bad; all trying to preserve the system where they can spend what they want, take care of their friends and print money when they need it." With social safety nets available to rich and poor, there is no impetus for change and "the country loses," but Paul concludes, the markets are starting to say "there is a limit to this."

Forward to 5:45 for the Ron Paul interview (ignore everything else)

I think Americans have so much longer to go, before they hit full taxation/slavery. In Europe we are about at 80% of your life going to the elites if you add all the taxes up. Americans are still way lower than that. The frog is being boiled and the temperature will be slowly rising. It will only end at boiling temperature and that is 100 degrees or 100% taxation.

This is nothing.

I offer these brief remarks today as a prayer for our country, with love of democracy, as a celebration of our country. With love for our country. With hope for our country. With a belief that the light of freedom cannot be extinguished as long as it is inside of us. With a belief that freedom rings resoundingly in a democracy each time we speak freely. With the understanding that freedom stirs the human heart and fear stills it. With the belief that a free people cannot walk in fear and faith at the same time.
With the understanding that there is a deeper truth expressed in the unity of the United States. That implicit in the union of our country is the union of all people. That all people are essentially one. That the world is interconnected not only on the material level of economics, trade, communication, and transportation, but innerconnected through human consciousness, through the human heart, through the heart of the world, through the simply expressed impulse and yearning to be and to breathe free.

I offer this prayer for America.
Let us pray that our nation will remember that the unfolding of the promise of democracy in our nation paralleled the striving for civil rights. That is why we must challenge the rationale of the Patriot Act. We must ask why should America put aside guarantees of constitutional justice?
How can we justify in effect canceling the First Amendment and the right of free speech, the right to peaceably assemble?
How can we justify in effect canceling the Fourth Amendment, probable cause, the prohibitions against unreasonable search and seizure?
How can we justify in effect canceling the Fifth Amendment, nullifying due process, and allowing for indefinite incarceration without a trial?
How can we justify in effect canceling the Sixth Amendment, the right to prompt and public trial?
How can we justify in effect canceling the Eighth Amendment which protects against cruel and unusual punishment?
We cannot justify widespread wiretaps and internet surveillance without judicial supervision, let alone with it.
We cannot justify secret searches without a warrant.
We cannot justify giving the Attorney General the ability to designate domestic terror groups.
We cannot justify giving the FBI total access to any type of data which may exist in any system anywhere such as medical records and financial records.
We cannot justify giving the CIA the ability to target people in this country for intelligence surveillance.
We cannot justify a government which takes from the people our right to privacy and then assumes for its own operations a right to total secrecy.
The Attorney General recently covered up a statue of Lady Justice showing her bosom as if to underscore there is no danger of justice exposing herself at this time, before this administration.
Let us pray that our nation’s leaders will not be overcome with fear. Because today there is great fear in our great Capitol. And this must be understood before we can ask about the shortcomings of Congress in the current environment.
The great fear began when we had to evacuate the Capitol on September 11.
It continued when we had to leave the Capitol again when a bomb scare occurred as members were pressing the CIA during a secret briefing.
It continued when we abandoned Washington when anthrax, possibly from a government lab, arrived in the mail.
It continued when the Attorney General declared a nationwide terror alert and then the Administration brought the destructive Patriot Bill to the floor of the House.
It continued in the release of the bin Laden tapes at the same time the President was announcing the withdrawal from the ABM treaty.
It remains present in the cordoning off of the Capitol.
It is present in the camouflaged armed national guardsmen who greet members of Congress each day we enter the Capitol campus.
It is present in the labyrinth of concrete barriers through which we must pass each time we go to vote.
The trappings of a state of siege trap us in a state of fear, ill-equipped to deal with the Patriot Games, the Mind Games, the War Games of an unelected President and his unelected Vice President.
Let us pray that our country will stop this war. “To promote the common defense” is one of the formational principles of America.
Our Congress gave the President the ability to respond to the tragedy of September 11. We licensed a response to those who helped bring the terror of September 11th. But we the people and our elected representatives must reserve the right to measure the response, to proportion the response, to challenge the response, and to correct the response.
Because we did not authorize the invasion of Iraq.
We did not authorize the invasion of Iran.
We did not authorize the invasion of North Korea.
We did not authorize the bombing of civilians in Afghanistan.
We did not authorize permanent detainees in Guantanamo Bay.
We did not authorize the withdrawal from the Geneva Convention.
We did not authorize military tribunals suspending due process and habeas corpus.
We did not authorize assassination squads.
We did not authorize the resurrection of COINTELPRO.
We did not authorize the repeal of the Bill of Rights.
We did not authorize the revocation of the Constitution.
We did not authorize national identity cards.
We did not authorize the eye of Big Brother to peer from cameras throughout our cities.
We did not authorize an eye for an eye.
Nor did we ask that the blood of innocent people, who perished on September 11, be avenged with the blood of innocent villagers in Afghanistan.
We did not authorize the administration to wage war anytime, anywhere, anyhow it pleases.
We did not authorize war without end.
We did not authorize a permanent war economy.
Yet we are upon the threshold of a permanent war economy. The President has requested a $45.6 billion increase in military spending. All defense-related programs will cost close to $400 billion.
Consider that the Department of Defense has never passed an independent audit.
Consider that the Inspector General has notified Congress that the Pentagon cannot properly account for $1.2 trillion in transactions.
Consider that in recent years the Dept. of Defense could not match $22 billion worth of expenditures to the items it purchased, wrote off, as lost, billions of dollars worth of in-transit inventory and stored nearly $30 billion worth of spare parts it did not need.
Yet the defense budget grows with more money for weapons systems to fight a cold war which ended, weapon systems in search of new enemies to create new wars. This has nothing to do with fighting terror.
This has everything to do with fueling a military industrial machine with the treasure of our nation, risking the future of our nation, risking democracy itself with the militarization of thought which follows the militarization of the budget.
Let us pray for our children. Our children deserve a world without end. Not a war without end. Our children deserve a world free of the terror of hunger, free of the terror of poor health care, free of the terror of homelessness, free of the terror of ignorance, free of the terror of hopelessness, free of the terror of policies which are committed to a world view which is not appropriate for the survival of a free people, not appropriate for the survival of democratic values, not appropriate for the survival of our nation, and not appropriate for the survival of the world.
Let us pray that we have the courage and the will as a people and as a nation to shore ourselves up, to reclaim from the ruins of September 11th our democratic traditions.
Let us declare our love for democracy. Let us declare our intent for peace.
Let us work to make nonviolence an organizing principle in our own society.
Let us recommit ourselves to the slow and painstaking work of statecraft, which sees peace, not war as being inevitable.
Let us work for a world where someday war becomes archaic.
That is the vision which the proposal to create a Department of Peace envisions. Forty-three members of Congress are now cosponsoring the legislation.
Let us work for a world where nuclear disarmament is an imperative. That is why we must begin by insisting on the commitments of the ABM treaty. That is why we must be steadfast for nonproliferation.
Let us work for a world where America can lead the day in banning weapons of mass destruction not only from our land and sea and sky but from outer space itself. That is the vision of HR 3616: A universe free of fear. Where we can look up at God’s creation in the stars and imagine infinite wisdom, infinite peace, infinite possibilities, not infinite war, because we are taught that the kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven.
Let us pray that we have the courage to replace the images of death which haunt us, the layers of images of September 11th, faded into images of patriotism, spliced into images of military mobilization, jump-cut into images of our secular celebrations of the World Series, New Year’s Eve, the Superbowl, the Olympics, the strobic flashes which touch our deepest fears, let us replace those images with the work of human relations, reaching out to people, helping our own citizens here at home, lifting the plight of the poor everywhere.
That is the America which has the ability to rally the support of the world.
That is the America which stands not in pursuit of an axis of evil, but which is itself at the axis of hope and faith and peace and freedom. America, America. God shed grace on thee. Crown thy good, America.
Not with weapons of mass destruction. Not with invocations of an axis of evil. Not through breaking international treaties. Not through establishing America as king of a unipolar world. Crown thy good America. America, America. Let us pray for our country. Let us love our country. Let us defend our country not only from the threats without but from the threats within.
Crown thy good, America. Crown thy good with brotherhood, and sisterhood. And crown thy good with compassion and restraint and forbearance and a commitment to peace, to democracy, to economic justice here at home and throughout the world.
Crown thy good, America. Crown thy good America. Crown thy good.
Thank you.

Sang "kumbayah" with DK supporters back in 2004. A right good time actually. Great Democratic field actually...one of them being DK himself. I simply don't recognize the current Democratic Party. I never thought I'd see something scarier than Nixon...but there it is...trampling not just on Lady Liberty but in my view the very idea of Government Service itself. I have seen no "Great Patriotic Pictures" outside of George W. Bush's landing on the Aircraft Carrier. That's the only "memory" of our military response to 9/11 that i recall. And of course the history guy in me remembers the brouhaha over the "Why We Fight" movies produced by Hollywood relative to World War II. And as time goes "buy" i no longer see a rat in the form of the meglomaniacal modern media cocknobbers but have simply devolved "it" into a simple fact of life: anything you hold dear in life is to be taken by Mayor Bloomberg and his cronies. That Jew has destroyed the very idea of human dignity...indeed made destroying it a "mass production." How ironic. "A whole new conceptual approach to genocide." I'm sure it went over well with the Board. Love to see where "legal" signed off on it. What's next? "Israel! The made for T.V. Event of the Year!"? There is a point where every American gets a badge you know. It ain't like the war...YOUR war...is going anywhere.

Witnessed Event: John F. Kennedy Assassination

Lee Bowers Jr. was a key witness to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. At the moment of the shooting he was operating the Union Terminal Company’s two-story interlocking tower, which was overlooking the parking lot just north of the grassy knoll and west of the Texas School Book Depository. Bowers had an unobstructed view of the stockade fence atop the knoll. He gave a detailed account of the assassination saying he had witnessed two unfamiliar men standing near the grassy knoll at the edge of the parking lot, within 10 or 15 feet of each other, “one man was middle-aged, fairly heavy-set, in a white shirt and dark trousers. The other was a younger man, about mid-twenties, in either a plaid shirt or a plaid coat or jacket.”

Lee Bowers also described a strange truck that was parked in the location of the assassination seven to ten minutes before Kennedy arrived. When the shots rang out, Bowers’ attention was drawn to the grassy knoll where he had witnessed the two men. He observed “some commotion” at that spot, “…something out of the ordinary, a sort of milling around…which attracted my eye for some reason, which I could not identify.” In an interview that Lee Bowers gave with attorney Mark Lane, he explained that the “commotion” that caught his eye may have been “a flash of light or smoke.”

Lee Bowers testified that immediately following the assassination a motorcycle policeman left the presidential motorcade and roared up the grassy knoll straight to where the two mysterious gentlemen were standing behind the fence. The policeman dismounted, but then climbed on his motorcycle and drove off. On the morning of August 9, 1966, Lee Bowers was driving south from Dallas on business. He was two miles from Midlothian when his brand new company car veered from the road and hit a bridge abutment. Bowers was killed in the accident. There was no autopsy performed and he was cremated soon afterward. A doctor from Midlothian, who rode in the ambulance with Bowers, noticed something peculiar about the victim. “He was in a strange state of shock. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Meanwhile, here's a taster of Clayton Swisher's amusing response on the al-Jazeera blog:

It's not clear what miracles Holocaust survivor and Nobel
laureate Elie Wiesel can work for General Petraeus now that he's the
top officer in Kabul.
Based on these emails Petraeus apparently authored, subsequently
leaked to blogger Philip Weiss, it seems the former Central Commander
thought a private dinner with Weisel and a Holocaust Museum stint might
boost his pro-Israel bona fides ("some of my best friends are Jewish!").

I guess the good general is keener on becoming the next US president,
and not upsetting the Israel lobby in the meantime, than some had
assumed.

JFK and George HW Bush connection. (over 1 hour)

JFK2 - The sequel to Oliver Stone's JFK, you won't see in the cinema. A thoroughly documented criminal indictment establishing beyond a reasonable doubt the guilt of George HW Bush as a supervisor in the conspiracy to assassinate John Kennedy. The evidence relies primarily on governement documents and public records. The center piece of the evidence is a memo entitled "Assassination of President John F. Kennedy", signed by J Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI, 5 days after the assassination, which names Bush as a supervisor of CIA-trained assassins. Another FBI memo establishes Bush's presence in the Dallas area at the time of the assassination. These memos are corroborated extensively with details from Bush's own official history of his life (also known as JFK 2 Part 1).

Mohandas Gandhi’s anti-gun comment has been removed from Facebook.

The agony that accompanies each new year in America is the arrival of more and more loss of freedoms.  Police state?  It can’t happen here, the head-in-the-sand people say.

In China, praised by traders as more like America every day, the government has a new law allowing it to remove any Internet items deemed “illegal.” And servers are punished if the items are not reported.

Facebook and Google may not be the same as the U.S. government yet, but their political philosophy and growing influence is certainly anti-freedom. When their operations are deemed “cooperative with authorities,” and this is far from being unrealistic, the police state arrives.

Case in point: The Facebook account of NaturalNews.com was removed when it used a quote from Gandhi for what Facebook called “violation of community guidelines.”

The quotation: “Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.

We are no longer free men, to come and go as we please as the authorities can stop and search us at will.  They record every word we say and store anything we may write for future analysis and judgement, which will be in our digital history forever.

We cannot keep the money we earn as they need their "cut" first, just like the mob which used fear tactics to keep their protection rackets alive.

Does this sound like what the founders envisioned?  Does this sound like the place people lost their lives in WW2 to protect?

Methinks not.

Breaking News: The word ‘tradition’ will be omitted from future financial text books. This controversial term was debated between Ben Bernanke and Ron Paul during the Federal Reserve Board's semiannual report on monetary policy, July 13 2011. UNESCO assures King Abdullah who cut a $20 million check, no xenophobic reference’s toward gold as a central banking tradition will go into an future educational textbook.

Hurray for Ron Paul.

Here are the limits. The following five main policies, implemented over the past four years, are now impossible to extricate ourselves from, without causing a depression: 1) ongoing Zero Interest Rate Policy (ZIRP); 2) continued Quantitative Easing, thereby monetizing the debt; 3) Federal budget deficits running at -$1 trillion dollars a year; 4) allowing fraud to go unpunished, with no needed structural reforms in place; and 5) an increasing $700 trillion dollar market in unregulated OTC derivatives, daisy chained around the world..

Fiscal cliff discussions in the MSM, and by implication on the blogs, are designed to scare the public to rush, this year, into keeping these malignant policies in place. Better to leave these important issues to the 113th Congress, next year. To learn more, please read my Economic Populist article, published on December 17, 2012, entitled, “WORLD-MARKET-STATE vs. DEMOCRACY: Why We Should Go Over the Fiscal Cliff.”

Whorey for Ron Paul?

This might be startling for you. I know it is certainly starting for the majority of Americans, but we passed the point of no return a long time ago.

Historically, no nation that has debt that passed its GNP (and I said GNP, not GDP) has ever repaid it.

This is OLD news for the misinformed or ignorant. And for the informed, the strategy is to position oneself for the fallout.  It remains a question of when, not if.

JP Morgan gave the biggest ever donation to the New York Police Federation. That says it all. Verify the fact if you like. It is true.

Bloomberg is a fascist Zionist. So are JP Morgue and Goldman Sucks et al. There's only one well known place on earth where their sort are the majority: Switzerland, the central banksters haven, the center of their freak 'new world order'.

Switzerland that has the highest private gun ownership per head of population as citizens are expected to defend themselves and the State. Meanwhile, the Zionists plot to wage unending war and disarm honest law abiding Americans, and the Constitution.

There's only one thing worse: dirt poor, inbred, sadistic  Islamists.

No surprise that those two groups kill with impunity, and whine about their fate, and co-opt the rest of the world into their freakery.

"We have reached the point of no return"

Itr's time that those pieces of paper, which are Government IOU's are used immediately to buy real assets like gold and silver while others still accept it. Remember these assets are in your hands and you need not refer to anyone else for real value.

These dollar notes will have hardly any acceptance shortly.

To those who own the 70% dollar notes issued, that exist outside the US- you need to be crazy to own an IOU of another Government which does not even bother about it's own citizens.

Ron Paul is a fake "constitutionalist". What kind of "constitutionalist" allows the Usurpation of the presidency with not a word? He should know that Obama was born a British subject, and is likely still a British protected person. His birth as a British subject, of a British suject father voids eligibility as a natural born Citizen, i.e one born with no foreign allegiances, i.e. born in the US of US Citizen parents.

"The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners". Minor v. Happersett 88 US 162, 167 (1874)

That quote from SCOTUS is describing the point in time of the ratification of the constitution, where the only naturalization law was "or a citizen at the time of the ratification of the Constitution". Those that were residents of the states when the Constitution was ratified in each one became naturalized citizens of the US, while those born in the US since 7/4/1776 of residents of the new United states were the natural born Citizens. In fact Obama, by the naturalization act of 1802, would have been considered a foreigner, since the proviso of section 4 stipulates that no citizenship would be granted to anyone who's father was "never resident in the US". Obama's father was a British subject Kenyan, whom was never resident in the US, and was in Hi. on a student visa. Obama Sr. according to Federalist 68, was "an improper ascendant" (improper ancestor), and Obama is not a "creature of our own". How could he be, born British of a British subject Communist, and submersed in an anti American cocktail of Communists, Marxists, Islamists, and black separatist theology his entire life? Is there any doubt that he demonstrates an utter lack of allegiance or attachment to America or American ideals? The Central Banking Cartel (Rothchild-- British subjects) put him in power specifically to destroy US Citizen Sovereignty. There is no law, and no Constitution when the POTUS, who is executor of the law is illegal. Why do you think his "oaths" are taken in private? why do you think criminals of the banking cartel still walk free?

Ron Paul is a FRAUD. He ultimately did nothing about Bernanke, and closed his eyes to the destruction of our sovereignty. What did he say about Benghazi? Constitutionalist? Please...

What do you have to offer, MickV?  blood letting the dogs and selling it at plasma centers?  Drain em dry, to the last drip, so the very wealthy can continue holding up the stock market until they are in position to collapse it (again).

The wars need to end.  The best Americans are being sent into a war fighting for personal interests.  The ruins left are the fertile grounds for the children to figure out there is only one door to survival because there are no jobs and they need to eat.

End the wars.  Go back in 10 years and resume if you must.  But for fuck's sake, end them now.  Stop everything.  Cease fire across the whole globe.  It's absolutely ludicrious to see the US taking sides within a nation.  The introduction of new forms of energy will be more likely when the oil barons are scaping the bottom of the barrel and actually need to do some work for a change.

Ron Paul was not perfect.  I am as liberal as one could be and I was pro Ron Paul.  But, as I look at it, we are all lucky he is still alive.  Good character, accomplishments recognized by peers, and altrusism are no longer required to be a great success.  Weasels, Azzazzins, Frauds replace the qualifications.  Everyone seems to be willing to send 100 millions of people into a state of great suffering so a couple thousand people can live beyond imagination, beyond that of kings and queens.  We are handing the world over to these peole and they are fucking hiding from us.  THAT SHOULD WORRY YOU!!!

It reminds me of our initial attack on Afghanistan...cue cheering adoring drunken 'mericans at football stadiums.

What time is the show errr 'vote' Boehner?

“I know many Americans feel fear today,” Bush said in his nationally televised announcement from the White House Treaty Room. Signs of heightened security concerns were evident, as officials took Vice President Dick Cheney from his residence to an undisclosed secure location, security was stepped up around the Capitol and government nuclear weapons labs were put on higher alert. The FBI said it was acting on the basis of “the possibility of additional terrorist activity occurring somewhere in the world.”

Within hours of the attacks, Bush drew public support from foreign leaders around the world, as well as from congressional leaders and the American public.

A crowd of 64,000 cheered the president’s words at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, where the beginning of a professional football game was delayed so the fans could view Bush’s appearance on the big screen scoreboard. Chants of “USA, USA” filled another stadium, this one in Atlanta.

The lady has been a long time customer and is on the dole. I looked at her and she was no cadillac welfare queen.

thread bare clothes and many chronic illnesses ..I asked her if she had other bills to pay, she HAD ONE DOLLAR.

I gave her the fake $10 BACK, her meds and told her not to try passing the fake $10 and let her go.
