As I travel in Amerika I see more and more single moms now wanting to be hookers . The trend is gaining momentum/ So much for family values they speak off in the USSA. A noble profession better than being married is what I told one and teaches them real work.
The sad truth today is that getting married is often financially a poor decision. Depending on ones income you can be royally screwed. 10 yrs ago we calculated it cost us $5000/yr just to be married. Now with no fault divorce and pathetic tax deductions for having kids the advantages are few. Do you really want the government licensing who you sleep with? Marriage used to be a private matter between 2 people which is where is should have stayed. But no, it found out it could make money exploiting it. I've told my daughters to take a good hard look before they go down that path, not that it gives me joy in doing so. Not that I want them to become welfare moms either. The scary truth is that this government has made welfare mom a viable life style.

Not many economist are willing to put it so bluntly.
I don't think many Americans can handle the truth about 2012 America and how at least the last 30 years brought us to this point. It is obvious that neither party has controlled spending or created a taxation system that is reasonably fair and match it to spending. Only when spending MUST be paid for with tax revenues will America wake up. Borrowing abroad, borrowing at home isn't enough anymore either. We now must have a Federal Reserve to print money and buy the treasuries, or else the whole show is over. It has come down to simple money printing.
Some good posts above point out that The Takers often include corporate America. The US Security, Intelligence, Military and Vetereans departments are running at way over 1 trillion a year in spending. Perhaps 1.2 trillion if all was revealed. This covers a huge chunk of all tax revenues.
Let's be clear about Social Security, crystal clear. The person who live to 62-65 and retires has been paying in BIG TAXES to the fund for maybe 40-45 years. Have you checked what an average worker gets in an SS benefit? It is not more than subsitance in this economy. To be clear, SS is not and has never been in deficit, it has always been in massive surplus. EVen now it is surplus and can easily see the next few hard decades out with the surplus. Here is the secret! The congress stole ALL the surplus since the late 1960's and here is what it was spent on. This is a demonstrable fact. The surplus was used to fund the Vietnam war, the giant cold war build up in the 80's, the Gulf War, the Iraq and Afghnistan war, and all the world wide military imperial complex.
All the worker's surplus tax money was spent on empire, war and a world wide military presence. I challange anyone to show otherwise.
As for the Fiscal Cliff. I for one will cheer when we go over. Two things all of America needs. And end to run away spending on everything and an end to all the tax breaks since the late 80's. When we then start paying down the debt and baoance the budget, then we can look into a more fair tax cut program. Favoring work, favoring small business and cutting out the bankers and financial service whores.

Most everyone here, including Tyler, bashes the POTUS and the DEMS, but doesn't support the GOP either. So what is the answer? I've been following ZH for quite awhile, and while I appreciate the critical analyses that I find here, I do not see solutions: "repudiate the tax", print more money, print less money, don't print money, end the Fed, implement a gold standard, etc, etc. Avoid austerity, but drastically cut spending - except for the insane wars around the world, etc, etc.
So what the f*** IS the right answer? Ron Paul is not an option anymore. Austerity is not an option. Job creation is not an option, because no one in DC has a clue about how to create jobs. Trickle-down econ doesn't work and never has done anymore than further line the pockets of the super wealthy - ie corporate America AND corporate government. So how about you guys put it down, 1, 2, 3..... what IS the plan that will work? Or at least proffer actions that will bring positive change. While the market is still broken, laws aren't being enforced and politicians and the media are blatantly corrupt, it's tough to go beyond identifying everything that is wrong and bitching about it. There's a lot of really smart people here and there have been good ideas put forth.
1.) Dissolution of Federal Govt in DC along with FED.
2.) All troops on foreign soil home yesterday. Overseas Bases closed.
3.) States convene on reconstitution of (tiny) Federal structure with strict adherence to founders limits on scope. Constitutional language on Peace and Non Interference, nation state sovreignity, international law. Secession is codified as an option (sorry Abe, W.T. Sherman et al).
4.) States issue currencies with hard limits of number in series. Forinstance.. Idaho Dollar series one, 200 million numbered issue. After issue, plates, image data, seals etc destroyed, there will never be another note printed in this series.
5.) State chartered savings and loans allowed to operate on a strict cash and/or specie reserve basis. No franchising, merger or multi layered corporate structure allowed. Each bank must operate as a single, stand alone entity with its own board, ownership and books. Subject to strict oversite (the good old BANK EXAMINER).
6.) Given what has happened, Federal money should probably not be on the table.
7.) Covert ops, asassinations, 911(especially) truth and reconciliation (gotta clear the overburden of bullshit much as many would like to see nooses for their personal least favorite criminals... in my case I guess that means Bubba and his old lady get to roam free, oh well).
8.) Start think about this shit now.
9.) Good, if she doesn't completely turn you off (sorry Ann, I like ya).
1) Term limits of no more than 1 or at most 2 terms
2) Only flesh and blood people can lobby, no PACs, no corporate $$, no aggregators
3) Congress lives under the same laws as the rest of us.
4) No congresssional pensions - just 401Ks
Thats a good place to start.
I'm certainly not an expert but I'll give it a shot.
1) Impose term limits,
2) Make lobbying illegal,
3) Make it illegal for anyone who is affiliated with a bank or investment firm to work for the government, and vise versa (eliminate the revolving door),
4) Persecute any or all who are involved in corruption, no matter how big or small.
5) Repeal any legislation that is unconstitutional or goes against the Bill of Rights.
6) Ensure that all branches of government and the CB uphold the letter of the law.
7) Go back to the gold standard or eliminate paper all together and just use precious metals.
8) Eliminate fractional reserve banking.
9) End the two party system.
10) Fix the electoral college, make it proportional.
Of course, there would have to be some sort of initiated action in order implement these things in the first place, in order to take control back. These things would be ways to move forward, once that action has taken place. That action is the tricky part.
The main problem is the law, and those in power being above it. This is a nation of laws and if our leaders aren't held accountable, how do they expect anyone else to be.
Get six of your friends in a room and then see how long it takes you all to decide on what type of pizzas to order. It's a fuck of a lot easier just to order your own pizza. Don't look to others to help solve your own personal confusion... you just end up more confused and do nothing. Take action on your own, do your own thing, and don't worry about what type of pizza the other guy is ordering.
Don't wait for a group of people to get together and create an "action plan". Start doing small stuff on your own that has the best effect at depriving banksters and politicians a "cut" from your hard earned labor.

Overall I agree with most everything stated. BUT, almost everything we believe will fix the nation requires Congressional involvement and/or a CITIZEN-DRIVEN REFERNEDUM, which may still require the support of our own representatives, many who probably don't really give a shit about us except at election time. Since Congress isn't going to enact most of the fixes you have listed, how do we move ahead with referendums, or whatever else may work if we had the resources? Of course we could use the ballot box every 2 years - a slow, painful and often corrupt method to bring about change. How much time do we have left the rescue a sinking ship?
Another path: mental. Think, dwell, focus on what your country would look like with every person that is able, to be working at a job they love. No worries about money. Everyone has their legitimate needs and wants met. No more fiat money system, no more wars, no more nation-building at the cost of $trillions and millions of innocent lives. No fear of the police-state. Just think about this, when you think about thinking about it! Investigate and push your ideas out there, and believe that things really could be better, both in your country and around the world.
If enough people believed in changes that could dissolve the matrix that we seem to be trapped in, could we really "create a new reality"? Think about it.

At the end of the video where he talks about his end game. Which is if the parties cannot come together, it is really interesting. He says that he will wait until Jan 4 when the New Congress comes in and put his ideas to a vote.
If you watch his body language it says it all. He licks his lips (like he cannot wait), he has a smirk on his face which turns into a huge smile. His eyes start to sparkle. From this I believe he knows they will not be able to come to an agreement and then he will push his agreement on Congress when the new Congress comes in on Jan 4. He smiles while he says that he does not believe that anyone in Congress is going to vote down tax cuts for the Middle Class.
He is playing hard ball. My way or no way still. It appears that he will not compromise or reach out to the other Party to come to an agreement no matter what.
