Guest Post: Fixing The Problem Isn't Difficult

Tyler Durden's picture

Via Monty Pelerin's World blog,

The following was received via email. Supposedly it appeared in the Waco Tribune. We don’t know the author, but we assume those interested could look her up. Since the Constitution no longer matters, we assume we can make her President, even though she doesn’t meet the (formerly valid) age restriction.

This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It’s her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion. This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX , Nov 18, 2011

Put Me In Charge...

Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your home” will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good..”

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

Just flip that sign around to show the red man pointing the gun AND holding the money and you have “capitalism”. That’s the reality, I’m afraid. Capitalism is all about squeazing as much profit as possible out of the public by paying low wages and charging outrageous mark-ups. There is no upward pressure on wages at all. The lower the wages, the bigger the profits. This is why wages just keep falling for all jobs in all sectors across all economies, unless compassionate politicians put their foot down and say enough is enough – no more exploitation. The only exceptions to this rule of falling wages are big shot Executives and “Job Creators” (LOL) with obscene salaries that could pay for benefits and healthcare for hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Funny, she is STILL an incoherent statist, jealous over the theft of "our" money.

You want money to hand out to others? Then stop stealing, and get a job to support them yourself!

Too bad, as otherwise the girl's got the right idea.

No way Baltimore is winning in Denver, especially after what happened in Baltimore when Denver came into town.

I like Baltimore plus the points.  Denver will probably win but by less than 10.

Mon, 01/07/2013 - 17:16 | 3130682 francis_sawyer

Denver was up only 10-0 about a minute before halftime [in Baltimore] when Joe Flacco, going in for a TD to make it 10-7, with Baltimore getting the 2nd half kickoff, threw a 98 yard pick 6... The dynamics of the game changed mightily in that 10 seconds (as the rest of the game ended up even ~ scorewise)... Baltimore was playing WITHOUT Daniel Ellerbe, Terelle Suggs, Ray Lewis, Haloti Ngata, & pro bowler Marshall Yanda... & Bernard Pollard, Torrey Smith, & Bernard Pierce all left the game early with concussions...

Denver has won 11 straight... 2 against the 'powerhouse' (2-14 Chiefs), the mighty (4-12 Raiders), 2 vs. the craptastic (7-9 Chargers) who finally fired Norv Turner, the shitty (5-11 Browns), the (7-9 Buccaneers) who were in the process of losing their last 6 games)...

Fuck the Broncos ~ Fuck John Elway ~ & Fuck Papa John's Pizza...

A lot of shit is going to be said this week about how Baltimore can't beat Peyton Manning... What will be FORGOTTEN is that JOHN ELWAY can't beat Baltimore... That MOTHERFUCKER pulled some shit on the City of Baltimore in the draft (way back when in 1983) ~ which is WHY he ended up in Denver & which is WHY the Colts moved to Indy in the middle of the fucking night... The flip side to that coin is that 'THE DRIVE' (vs. the Cleveland Browns) was vs. the same franchise that became the Baltimore Ravens in 1996... Ozzie Newsome [GM of the Ravens & former Cleveland Brown] has a score to settle with Elway [as well as former Browns/Ravens owner Art Modell ~ who passed away the week before the beginning of the season]...

This is VOODOO bitchez... Denver can 'pack it in'...

Mon, 01/07/2013 - 17:38 | 3130770 SilverIsKing
SilverIsKing's picture

If Baltimore can put the ball in the end zone a few times, they should win.  Should be a low scoring game.  I think Denver played above their heads all season and I was suprised that they had such a good record but I hadn't realized the number of patsies they played.

The points you raised definitely make it an interesting game although I'm not sure how it translates to the players who have no empotional connection to these things.

Unless the entire city of Baltimore is rallying around these issues, I can't see how the players, most of whom were not born or in diapers when this shit went down, care enough to make it a point of contention.  They'll be fired up regardless but I don't see any revenge factors from their collective point of view.

Mon, 01/07/2013 - 17:54 | 3130795 francis_sawyer
francis_sawyer's picture

Baltimore is a 'TOP DOWN' organization... One of the best in football... Ozzie Newsome was a former Cleveland Brown [who ARE the Baltimore Ravens] 'lifer', and is probably the best GM in football... The Ravens have worn a patch on their jerseys that says 'Art' [for Art Modell]... Art Modell is one of the most significant figures in NFL history... It was art Modell who was mostly responsible for the fact that there IS 'Monday Night Football'... the first Monday Night Football game was played in Cleveland's Municipal Stadium...

This whole season, for the Ravens, has been a dedication to Art Modell... Don't think EVERYONE from the brass, to the players, to the janitors in the stadium don't know it...

Football is VOODOO... Last year, the Ravens lost to the Patriots on an inexplicable 'dropped pass' in the end zone [by Lee Evans], then a crazy missed 32-yard FG by Billy Cundiff... The Patriots had the VOODOO because they were playing for Maya Kraft (wife of owner ~ who passed away before the season started)...

You can believe this shit or not, but the 'NFL GHOSTS' favor the Ravens... That's free advice from francis_sawyer... You'll NEVER hear about that shit on ESPN... [until, of course, come the 'Superbowl' when the lazy ass jew reporters like Berman & Eisen are required to work for their pay & dig up a few human interest stories to fill some air time]...

Yes... Which is probably WHY they are hated so much in Cleveland...

From a Baltimore perspective... The IRSAY 'yids' (who pussyfooted out of Baltimore [to Indy] in the middle of a snowy night in Mayflower moving vans) are hated 100x more... Any other stupid shit to add?

& in any case... Thanks for your ADD... It proves a point that I always make... 'Kraft' (as mentioned before), is a yid too... They're practically ALL fucking yids... So in the end... It's all going to be yid vs. yid [just as I've been saying all along ~ &, of course, get JUNKED for]...

i don't disagree with the baltimore analysis, i think they've had the best  "team" for 3-4 years now except joe flacco isn't a super bowl "winning" quarterback. You need a franchise quarterback, i know chicago 85, tampa 02 and your baltimore of 00 were exceptions but really you need one,,,,,,, the whole coaching thing is overrated i mean how many people have left tom brady and had 'success".

Mon, 01/07/2013 - 18:50 | 3130981 francis_sawyer
francis_sawyer's picture

I couldn't disagree more...

Based on your analysis... The Atlanta Falcons [Ryan ~ who was drafted only a couple spots before Flacco]... The 49ers [Colin Kapernick ~ Univ of Nevada], The Seattle Seahawks [Russel Wilson ~ 6th rounder]... Have ZERO shot... Aaron Rodgers [who also fell WAY in the draft] is the ONLY HOPE...

Meanwhile... Houston [Schaub ~ UVA, late rounder] has no shot... Brady [a 6th rounder] has no shot...

But then look at all those SUPERSTAR franchise QBs of late:

- Brady Quinn (drafted by Cleveland; couldn't beat out Tebow in Denver; made it up from 3rd string to lead 2-14 Chiefs)...

- Cam Newton ~ #1 overall pick... sub .500

- Jamarcus Russell ~ #1 overall pick... OUT OF LEAGUE

- Matt Leinart ~ Heisman winner ~ 3rd stringer... somewhere... almost out of league

- Jimmy Clausen ~ #3 pick... OUT OF LEAGUE

- I'll leave alone the Nick Foles, Kevin Kolbs, Charlie Whitehursts, et al... The Ravens won the SB with Trent Dilfer... Their ONLY mistake in the past decade was to bring in a FRANCHISE QB [Elvis Grbac], to IMPROVE on that success... The Vikings made it to the playoffs this year with Christian Fucking Ponder... The Lions went 4-12 with #1 overall pick Matthew Stafford [throwing to Megatron]... NUFF SAID...

You want to talk about 'HYPOCRISY' [vis-a-vis ~ Las Vegas Dave]...

It is WELL KNOWN [on this site], that francis_sawyer hardly passes up an opportunity to lay the blame of the world monetary debacle [aka JOOBUX] a the feet of where it rightfully should be blamed...

At the same time... I've maintained that it's NOTHING PERSONAL... I just like the TRUTH [& it seems very difficult for most people to face the truth, which is why it's all a circle jerk & no progress will ever be made until the whole fucking house has been burned to the ground]...

Here is an instance where I give PRAISE [which, I believe is RIGHTFULLY DESERVED in this instance]... So what happens?... Some NIMROD wants to call me an idiot & a hypocrite & bring something into the argument that I had not even mentioned...

I get junked all the time for talking about JOOBUX... Here, the one time I make ZERO mention of it, somebody else wants to bring 'YIDS' into the equation (without any provocation whatsoever)... That's the state of the world folks...

It's all fucking classic... [& tells you everything you need to know]... ALL of my comments [above & below] are DETAILED summaries about 'very specific' nuances of previous game situations, psychologies, down & distances, point spreads, ownership structures, player motivations, etc... I GET JUNKED FOR THAT SHIT...

Somebody else just comes out with a blunt ass comment like... "Manning is going to skewer the Ravens & their old as shit nigger linebacker"... [Everybody is on board with that]... Now you know what it feels like when I see RED ARROWS every time the word 'JOOBUX' makes its way into a comment...

+1 for "joobux".  Let's make it colloquial in usage but much more rarely so perhaps.  I understand that you are simply making an observation, applying a unique terminology, and making somewhat of a statement at the same time.  I am not an anti-semite either.  I like many of your posts, I just don't do much with the arrows.  You are correct to call out the football too.  Football is not what this site is about but there are a lot of alpha males here and it IS fight club.

no no no your taking my postion wrong, has nothing to do with where you are drafted,,,,,,, you need an accurate 10-15 yard passer that is intelligent. Not a strong arm bomb throwing idiot. But lets face it Joe Flacco ain't going into New England (blame it on the kicker if you want) aint going into denver (manning) and winning shit. Ryan Luck will be in the playoffs for the next 10 years. Roethlisberger, Manning and Brady have rotated for the last 12 years no matter what team they are on. Next year mark sanchez aint going to the super bowl no matter what and neither is Jake Locker matt cassell or Christian Ponder. Put Ponder on the patriots and brady on the vikings and the vikings go to the super bowl this year. Never said russell wilson didn't have a chance nor drew brees has nothing to do with it.

Tony Romo, mike vick, henne, fitzpatick cutler palmer ponder guaranteed no championship ever.

Baltimores d back in 2000 was a once in a generation defense good luck building one of those again with a trent dilfer handing off to lewis and holmes again

Given the 'home team' skew... It means that they're saying Denver would be favored by 3 points [in Baltimore]... Same shit with the Falcons~Seahawks... The implied line means that the Seahawks would be 5 point favorites if the game were in Seattle...

Super Mario was a great hockey player, regardless of era.

But the truly great make them change the rules. Before Rocket Richard, a penalty was 2 minutes, no matter how many goals were scored. After the Rocket, one and out.

Before Gretzky, co-incidental minors, you play five a side. After Gretzky, the players sit out, but the teams play at full strength.

Nobody ever changed the rules because of Mario; they did because of Wayne.

Only if he has time to pass....and he won't. You have no idea what's coming. Andrew Luck was knocked around so much he lost his accuracy. Expect the same for Peyton, and Peyton can't run.

Last time Manning faced the Ravens [in a divisional matchup], he couldn't get the ball into the end zone... 5 Adam Vinateiri FG's... Andrew Luck couldn't get the ball into the end zone [3 Adam Vinateiri FG's]... In the game vs. Manning... Vinateiri had one 50+ FG as time expired (at halftime) that bounced off the crossbar & went thru... Late in the game, the Ravens had the Colts pinned back inside their own 5 & got a ticky-tack personal foul call that allowed the Colts to convert a 3rd & long...

Neither Luck nor, Manning has scored an offensive TD vs. the Ravens in those two [playoff] games... Manning threw for only 204 yds & 1 TD against the depleted Ravens in the regular season (where half their defensive starters were out)...

It was also the FIRST WEEK (offensively ~ after 4 days) that the Ravens had fired their offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron... Jim Caldwell (Peyton Manning's ex-QB coach is now the OC for the Ravens)...

Fuck the Broncos...

Well said, N/A. Why is government necessary to dictate market outcomes? Sound money, based on property rights, stops this in a heart beat. No taxation on labor is one of the clauses in the Constitution. No expropriation Bills are legal that are used to "save" a recipient from their economic plight. That's where the illegal theft occurs and that is where BIG govt establishes its credentials. I'm no Rhodes scholar on the constitution but your down arrows suggest that there are so many who don't even know it exists.

Fixing The Problem IS Difficult. The author is unaware that her propositions are not addressing the issues from a Constitutional perspective. Most Americans are unaware that the Constitution contains all the answers to their "fairness" points of contention, such as these in the article. They are common sense clauses that were designed to address the issues of fairness that this woman complains about.

I'm taking ILLINOIS CHI -2 and the hook on the road v CLEVELAND ST.  Vegas pinkies bitchez.  EVerything gets priced-in to the big-caps.

Those interested should look at WorldSportsExchange

You can LIVE BET games as they unfold as shares of stock.  Buy and sell at any time.  Unlimited trades.  All major sports, incl golf.

Buy 3 shares of the Ravens at $30 at the start of the drive, sell at $65 right before they MISS the field goal, for instance.  Then buy Denver cuz Manning should be good for a few first downs... etc...

Pretty bad ass.  You can actually trade MOMENTUM, instead of getting stuck in a bet you can't get out of... like 3 minutes into the 1st qtr when its already OBVIOUS your team's about to get rolled.

I'm not pimping anything.  Just FYI for those looking for different action in a better casino.

Flame away, bitchez.  I trust in my own ability to discern.

Frontrunning I'm sure but it shouldn't matter and one could argue that it actually helps.

On any nationally televised game, watch the lines move on every stoppage in play/possession/shot or whatever.  The balance HAS to be on the other side as both shares MUST equal 100.  100 can only occur at the end of the game.

Shaking someone out of a position is near impossible to do artificially.  It could be the closest thing to a free-market with non-ponzi juice left in the world.

IE An immediate dump of a $50 share would sell for $45.

freind, you confuse the crony capitalism we "enjoy" now for real capitalism. Wages go up when there is an increased demand for workers. Having some gov goon artifically/arbitrarialy raise wages never seems to work well for long. You want lower prices and tighter margins? How about lowering barriers to new business creation. Compititon will take care of that problem and up demand for workers.

In short. Don't be an economic idiot.

They've been lied to, told to make more babies because it's "good for the economy" then have to go into debt just to get food for those babies because they have no savings, and the more people 25 years ago who made this same mistake, the more 25 year olds today take lower wages or none because THERE'S TOO MANY TRAPPED in the regional labor markets.

And I mean TRAPPED.

Immigration policy means that WORKERS can't move freely to find work & adequate wages, anywhere, while international corporations aka "people" (bullshit) can move everywhere. This is forcing wages down by FIGHTING AGAINST the good free market.

A good proper capitalist free market means that government is holding the UNLOADED gun and CAPITALIST WORKERS and OWNERS are in charge with LOADED GUNS and able to continue living & working freely.

If you want higher wages you MUST NOT MAKE SO MANY BABIES and we MUST NOT PERMIT IMMIGRATION RESTRICTION. Immigration restriction by CENTRAL CONTROLLER ASSHOLE ASS-HATS - they got it wrong with Federal laws, wrong with Federal Currency, WRONG WITH IMMIGRATION.

I have to let you guys in on a secret.

That's a troll thread from 4chan around 2010 when the /new/ forum was running before it was replaced with /pol/.  Seriously.  Google the following.

"Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job."

It's been a troll thread for a long ass time.

It is, there are simply tens of thousands of these horseshit stories floating around that are manufactured for specific purposes.

On 4chan it was JIDF troll bait to figure out how many Neo-nazies were patrolling around. Usually hilarity would followup informing OP of their sexual proclivities.  Then various pictures of dongs photo shopped on political figures.  Goes both ways especially in terms of 4chan.  Give and receive is the motto.

Ain't that the truth.

To the point of the post, troll or otherwise, if the only way government programs "work" is if you have strict life controls over peoples' lives, then the solution is not to impose those controls, the solution is to not have the programs.

Also it conveniently leaves out the budget-busting Social Security and Medicare programs which people have been paying into for their entire lives with the expectation they'd eventually get some fraction of their taxes back in benefits.

In short, it's not really a solution to anything as the recipients of means-tested benefit programs are not what have bankrupted the country.  In many cases they may have ruined their own lives, but if anyone really thinks government-dictated behavior is going to change that then they are just as naive as the people who think this was anything other than an over-simplification of the unhealthy symbiosis of government dependency.

I'm sure going house to house searching for an xbox would pay$50K to $100K a year, not counting medical and pension for life, after 20 years of service. Maybe 5 years of service if they retire early due to shock or stress. That would be a very honorable profession, though.  They'd probably hire college graduates with micky mouse degrees so they could write their debt off.

I guess I'm saying the cure is worse than the disease and the writer of the letter is the true disease, not the people without jobs because they went to China for $1 an hour. The 56 year old guy that wrote this letter works for the department of transportation of texas and is a perfect example of the downfall of the country, other than the jobs going to China. He is no doubt represented by mob rule that demand higher and higher wages from the government through collective bargaining and pension fraud. These ridiculous benefits are supposed to be paid for by taxes collected on jobs that went to China. I'm waiting for the collapse, the bullshit is too far gone to fix and would take decades of legislation and court rulings. It's best to start over.

Let him quit his job as "computer specialist" for the department of transportation and work as a "computer specialist" in the private sector.  If he can only generate $5K a year in productivity (by not calling in a computer service for repairs or to hook up a printer or through innovation), then let him pay back to the government the $150K a year in cash, medical, pension  and benefits per year that he's been collecting from the government tit for the last 35 years. He shouldn't be able to try to take politicians out of office due to trying to end collective bargaining or affirmative action or any of the other tit crap and shouldn't be allowed to vote either. You'd think he'd be highly skilled to advocate terms and conditions to food and shelter if a country of empty houses and huge food waste, but I'd be willing to bet otherwise.

I have a better plan.  First we shut down the biggest welfare companies. All TBTF banks. Seize all assets of all officers, board of directors an employees from 2004 to present who worked in, near, or around mortgage backed securities. All officers of every bank go directly to prison without bail. They were in on the fraud or too stupid to know. Either way they go to prison for life.

Next all HFT trading will be banned. All dark pools shut down and all trades will be made at public auction through each exchange. All commodities trading will require full payment. No leverage or margin. Any and all canceled orders will pay .10 cents a share.

All government leaders will resign for being corrupt and or incompetent. They will all fit into those two categories. Institute term limits of 4 years on all government leaders and back to the private sector they go.  They can’t work for any firm, company, or organization in the area they governed for the remainder of their lives.  They also need to turn in a one hundred page essay on why they are not leaders but servants of the people.  After every speech they have to include they are servants of the people. Never again will they be called leaders. A balanced budget will be in place at all times otherwise immediate removal from any government position.

The Fed, SEC, DOJ will be shut down immediately. New governed agencies will be formed by the average citizen who has prior experience. for a maximum of 4 years. All ex military who sever our country receive life time health benefits and housing at the taxpayers expense. All income made by ex military will be tax free until death. ( No I am not ex military). If we pay some idiot to chase, throw, shoot a ball millions , this is the least we can do for people who put there lives on the line for us.

Food stamps.  Unless you have a mental disorder or handicap, you will receive food stamps for a maximum of 2 months. Then you can’t receive them until the following year. Unemployment maximum benefit received of 6 weeks.

Any an all housing that is in foreclosure will be sold at auction after 6 months of non payment. If bank committed fraud your property is free and clear.  Sucks for the bankers, but a boom for the economy.

All money from now on will be backed by a gold standard. All constitutional rights will be in full effect. Any media, person, or government officials breaks, hinders, and obstructs the constitutional right will be placed in federal prison for life.

These simple steps would bring back the American spirit of investing and make our economy flourish.

This is just a first day in office. lol

Its not about how much we spend on this crap. Its about what it says about our country, our work ethic and whether any of this shit is worth putting a days labor into. We can fumble along for years with the Fed and bank bailouts. The system fails when enough people see it as absolutely corrupt and stops participating. You can only fake productivity for so long as true productivity is the basis for any real wealth. When Wendy sees it and then everyone else too, those few remaining workers will eventually bail...and that is where the shit hits the fan. All the government works can lose their job tomorrow and there would likely be some pissed off people, but when those working in food and energy production goes home, its a whole nother level of hell.

I see a SNAP recipient just about every time I go to the grocery store (mainly because I shop at a Wal-Mart on the wrong side of the tracks), and there are only two things that make me angry when I do:

1) They have no staples or private label items in the cart (only tons of brand name, high-sugar, high-fat shit), or

2) They're talking/texting/surfing on a smartphone.

I get angry 90% to 95% of the time.

I'm not trying to downplay the larger problems you pointed out; I'm just saying both are legitimate problems in our society that need fixing.

working as intended then.

seriously, you're still shopping at Wal-Mart, yet judging what other people have in their carts, AND letting it affect your life by feeling anger?

maybe a peek in the fancy delicatessens of Wall Street folks would help you feel better??

pixelated fiats same sourced.

I'm not angry about what other people have in their carts...unless I'm paying for it.  I have no problem helping those in need, but in my opinion, I shouldn't have to fund your steady diet of Cheetos, Kool-Aid, and Sugar Smacks.  I'm also of the opinion that if you can afford an iPhone 5 and the monthly data plan that goes along with it, then you don't need a piece of my earned income for free food of any variety, healthy or otherwise.  Subsidizing need and subsidizing want are two very different things.

As for the Wall Street delicatessens...see the last part of my original comment where I state these are BOTH problems in our society.  If you step in dog shit and have a bloody nose at the same time, you have two problems, and both need to be dealt with.

I do understand what you're saying, and why you believe you have a right to be "angry" - I'm simply pointing out that you're making choices - to shop at Wal-Mart, which is a massive taxpayer-funded global funnel-the-fiat-UPWARDS corporation that uses labour subsidised BY .gov bennies, and benefits from all the JPM-SNAP cards loaded monthly to buy the corporate-subsidised fud-produk that you "hate" to see in their carts.

it's a massive circle-jerk - absent yourself from it, either by not shopping in "their" stores, or by simply realising that you do, and not re-acting to your choices.

the taxes you pay, get the figure, write it on a piece of paper, and then make an arrow to ANY place .gov might use the full sum - you want the military? ALL yer taxes go there.  you like the schools?  then ALL your taxes go there.  etc.    you taxes are a drop in the bucket of .gov subsidy, corporate and otherwise.

don't let it infect your life with anger - "your taxes" go everywhere and nowhere - and you can always be clever and figure out how to exist sans .gov's fingers in your pocket - but it may necessitate a change of life-style.

These are all valid points, but I just want to make a couple of things clear.

1) Regarding Wal-Mart, I shop there purely because it is the closest grocery store to my house by several miles, nothing more, nothing less.

2) Regarding taxes, I'm less concerned with where my drop in the bucket goes vs. the fact that there aren't nearly enough drops in the bucket (or better said that the bucket is far too big).  I have three small kids, and I'm terribly concerned about the future of this country for their sake, not mine.  The problem as I see it isn't that I'm paying too much in taxes, it's that there's too much waste in the system, and we're borrowing a $1 trillion+ each year against the future prosperity of my children to fund it.  So when I see some lazy fuck leaving the store with government subsidized bags-o-crap, while talking on their smartphone and driving off in a nice car, it makes my blood boil.

yeah, I get what you're saying, and I understand your perspective - I'm honestly just trying to point out that your being angry about things you have no control over (what benefit cards are used to buy), vs. what you do have control over (where you choose/have to shop, aka benefit-card-central) is self defeating.

also, you're angry about more than who buys what with pixel-plastic. . . but that's for you to bring to your own attention, obviously.  having 3 small kids at this time, in this nationstate, has to be hella stressful, particularly if you spend a lot of time *here* in ZH-Land, which is bound to raise the blood pressure.

but know this - no one's paying anything back/off, no ones kids are funding anything. . . this ship goes down, like all empires when they shit the bed - adjust your future plans accordingly, invest your anger-energy in positive ways to cope with a future unlike any of us have ever imagined, stay ahead of the curve. . .

take care.

And why are we seeing it now? Because at some point, services will need to be cut drastically in order for our taxes dollars to continue to pay interest on the debt... Which is what it is all about. Austerity is not about reducing debt... That's a joke meant to dupe well meaning people. Austerity is only about keeping bankers whole.

"Or how many Xbox's the 16 trillion that the fed gave out to banks to keep them from imploding?"

Xbox (basic model) = 199$

16 trillion $ buys 80,402,010,048 Xbox's

So with a US population of 315,074,000 that would mean that every single person gets 255 Xbox's.

I see your point and agree the manipulation is factored into calculated response to such a post, but this is about the human condition and the ever-decreasing lack of respect for it. It is the secular humanism, the moral relativism, the carpe fucking yolo diem that pervades the comet cometh tomorrow culture. It's the giver and the taker, the wolf and the rabbit. It's Darwinism boiled down to who wants to make it out of the matrix. Take this up another level away from the material realm and then ask yourself - Am I a free man? If the answer is no, then you're manipulated. If the answer is yes, then you are similarly manipulated. My point being, that if you are indeed awake, the human condition demands you fight either way to save your self respect, or to save theirs. Free men fight hard to get it, and even harder to keep it.

I'm intrigued by your post, especialy the first part.    I'm a bit lost on the second part.

What do you mean by free and in what sense (i.e. physically, spiritually)?  And what do youmean by fighting to save your self-respect.
