Obama's 23 Executive Gun Control Actions
The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

There are many quality compact semi-automatic pistols available that have magazine capacities of seven or less rounds.
As to rifles, maybe New Yorkers will start looking more a bolt-actiont "sniper rifles," where shot placement is more important than magazine capacity. i have an interesting family life, which led to many visits to psychiatrists when i was younger, i would generally talk about politics with them, or the overall inequity which i would witness in even the most minute of interactions, i loved hearing: "well, although i agree with you, we should talk about you for a bit," not because they disagreed politically of course, or even that they were guiding; they genuinely agreed, but because my underlying "mental illness" was not being treated by allowing me to speak freely. because I am not mentally ill, unless mandated and designated as so.
I am fairly certain that based on my family background I will be placed on a no buy list (in my mind that action is a revocation of my citizenship of the united states of america, a separate issue entirely however), not because i am incompetent or that I pose a threat to anyone besides those which would do me harm, but because of a subjective basis of analyses which would label me temporarily as "mentally defective", and permanently a felon.
My insanity has always revolved around pointing out abuses of authority. There are several terms which are acceptable diagnosis currently according to the american standard of the DSM, which encompass such neuropathies, ODD (oppositional defiance disorder) is the one i'll name, although liberal interpretations of the manual will yield you with a plethora of candidates.
I can talk at the people around me in my daily life, about the obvious forces which put pressure on the media, about propaganda but it's too much for them, they stare at me blankly, derisively respond at times, only thinking dimly to themselves that maybe they should pay heed . the only "sane" thing to do at this point is not pretend that any analytic understanding of the informational structure will help you, as they have telegraphed, relaying direct understanding will only put you first under the "gun".

Yesterday I was called to jury duty. Everyone was shown a video by the Clerk of the Courts to explain a citizen's duty to participate in the jury system. He said, in the video, that every citizen is guaranteed, by the Constitution, to the right to a trial by a jury of one's peers. After the video the moderator asked if anyone had any questions. I had to bite my lip really hard to ask how that statement coexists with the NDAA/indefinite diisappearance powers Obama has assumed.
Maybe the video needs to be revised. I said nothing due to the presence of several police officers. I wanted to see my family again.

That's why all this talk about mental health is so dangerous. Eventually, anyone who disagrees with them will be labeled mentally unstable and placed on a "no buy" list. Actually your doctor might be sympathetic to your cause, maybe even a member of the local rod and gun club. It will be a Federal doctor, licensed under ObamaCare, who will do the mental health screening. Of course due to the rural nature of your particular health facility he can only be present on Mondays and Thursdays........once a month; unless something more important comes up. Watch and see..............
just relearn your reality - "your doctor" was never, "THEIR doctor" is becoming even more apparent.
the doctors don't work for "you" they work for a system that USES "you" - a big ole cradle (C-section EZ brith - on the doctor's schedule, not the body/baby) to grave, and in between you're experimented on with vaccines, fluoridated water, GMO corporate fudstuffs, and pharma to manage the symptoms so that you can continue to wage-slave & be taxed until the last drop is squeezzzed, then they rob your family for the disposal fees.

The question was a sincere one. What is to be done about LEOs who are on certain meds? I know of some and wondered.
Rocky, I believe youask a legitimate question and being a microbiologist I have no professional or scientific response. I nor any of my family have taken antidepressants, however I have had numerous unpleasant experiences with those who have, personally as well as professionally. A work associate who was trying to wean herself off meds became extremely erratic and was a danger to patients. We could not fire her BECAUSE she was on meds. It was insane. We just prayed she wouldn't harm a patient and waited for a chance to fire her for an alternative cause. Kind of like getting Al Capone on tax evasion. I've known a few people who were on these meds and I had eventually eliminated the relationship because they were so moody and volatile. The key fact was they didn't know they were even being that way! They were so incredulous when I didn't want to be with them anymore. There is some kind of strange disassociation between their reality and true reality. I cannot adequately describe it, I'm sure a psychiatrist would do better. If what I'm saying is not just anecdotal but a true result of antidepressants then what you ask about law enforcement being on meds is legitimate. In the medical field many professionals do abuse meds, mostly stimulants. I'm sure antidepressants are being used as well. Do you want your thorasic surgeon performing open heart surgery on you when he's taking Zoloft?

With regards to the 99% of the wives. Yes a bit high. The purpose of this was show that antidepressants are overprescribed just many other psych meds. It just makes it easier for people to take a pill that will "help" them with the stresses of a very complex and busy society. Women working, and raising kids, and trying to look pretty, trying to be loving to their husbands even though they don't show the same affection, women who have PMS out of control, etc... the list goes on. Taking celexa or prozac, levels the mood. But it deadens the soul. No ups and downs like we are supposed to be experiencing. As far as the truly sick population... I remember my psych rotation at the local VA medical center. I interviewed PTSD, homeless, sexual deviants, true psychotics that were "functioning" in society. I remember the guy who said he was on the moon last week...described it in detail...I almost believed him. :) The psychiatrists that prescribed the meds all said the same thing. They truly don't know how some of these meds work, and they don't know what some of these meds do to some. I remember one a Dr. ****** that said in his Indian accent, when he is adjusting meds on a patient, "It's a little sprinkle of this and a little sprinkle of that...(very clinical) then take them off this and try that..." It was the complete opposite of a personal feeling, or heartfelt feeling that I took away from that experience. I truly felt sorry for the patients. These were people's fathers, sons, daughters...ending up in the system, existing in a real and psychotic state. I'm on a rant and tangent...I should be medicated...

Thanks for the reply! What an experience you have shared! I've never taken meds but was offered them several times. I refused. I eventually found a method developed by a cognitive psychologist that got me out of my abyss. My husband and daughter also used it with great results. If you are interested, I will share it with you if you know of anyone who has anger issues(me) or sadness. It does take work, certainly popping pills is easier, but the results are amazing if you put in the effort. It is not for the truly insane or someone who is very clinically depressed. It is based on the theory that the brain is plastic and therefore can be changed or as they say "rewired". After practicing their method, old triggers to anger, unhappiness just fade. The questions are sometimes amusing...at least considering the circumstances in which they are asked. When our second child was born, one of the questions my wife had to answer at check in was, "Do you feel safe in your home?". I was sitting right next to her, which I thought was funny. When we went in with our third child and they asked the same question, I blurted out "You better say yes!"...my wife thought it was funny, the nurse not so much.

As a physician, I can tell you that just like with police and military...there are good and bad....some want to boot lick the government ....some have a healthy fear of it. A lot of doctors can afford guns and for some it is their main hobby. IPSC, IDPA, F class etc. There will be some physcians who will use this to pursue their own anti-gun agenda....avoid them if you can identify them. Most will be good citizens (in the true sense) and will strive to protect liberties while at the same time keep insane people from shooting others.
In Las Vegas a few years ago, I was sitting next to a doctor who had recently been shot by a patient. I said 'how unusual'....he said...'there are 2 other doctors in this room who have also been shot by patients'....true story.
We see a lot of crazy stuff, particulary psychiatrists. Their world is not easy. Few go into the field. I have no issue with trying to keep guns out of the hands of people who do not know what they are doing. I fear that this will become an odious responsibility and the next step it that we will have to 'certify sanity'. Slippery slope.
