Obama's 23 Executive Gun Control Actions

Tyler Durden's picture

The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

11. Nominate an ATF director.

12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.

23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

This is the new Zero Hedge Flakmeister. You should just give in and blame the Jews and the blacks. And accuse a right wing president* of being a euro jew-loving commie.

*Obama is, as stated by Glen Ford in the Black Agenda Report "the more effective evil" because people believe him to be a left leaning progressive/etc, etc because of his race, when in reality he is nothing more than the same of a long line of "leaders" who support no one but TPTB.

Flakmeister's picture

Well given that I am a member of the "old" Zerohedge, I'll stick to my guns....

And yes, Obama is a warmed over fascist, but at least he isn't Mitt... Oh, for the small triumphs that we can celebrate...

sessinpo's picture

If the standards are so low, why are you here?

Have you considered the standards are low to allow YOU to post?

Quite, frankly, I wouldn't want you to leave and encourage you to post. You are an easy target again and again as I have shown.

Flakmeister's picture

I would say that you have a greatly inflated opinion of yourself, not surprising given the tell-tale signs of D-K that you have exhibited....

And like a true chicken shit you only come out when it appears that I am outnumbered...

Stoploss's picture

That's a whole lot of NOTHINGS CHANGED.

GCT's picture

All this hot air is at the cost of 500 million on the taxpayers.  I guess we can spend until we can't frigging idiots.

Flakmeister's picture

Oh my, now that was clever...

Colonel Klink's picture

OK, let me try again.  FUCK OFF, Flakmeister!  Better?

Flakmeister's picture

I think I hear General Burkhalter calling...

Only a fucking moron would pick an avatar like yours.... it is fitting I suppose...

I'll be back later to see how you made out,  you dumb fucking twat...

Dave Thomas's picture

So Flak, I'm kinda curious, why pick the 10th SS Panzer division's insignia as your avatar?

Flakmeister's picture

My handle and avatar date from my old operational level warmgaming days...

Do you think there will be any fewer shootings/murders in the organizer's "community" of Shitcago because of these EO's?  Every month, year after year there a two 'Sandy Hooks' per month in the land of Obama.  These EO do nothing to stop or address the black on black violence just blocks from his compound in Kenwood.  He's a fucking worthless hypocrite.

Regarding item #4; "Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks."

Does reading ZH place me into one of those categories?

lolmao500's picture

Yes. Also owning gold/silver. Not taking the good vaccines from our friends at big pharma. Protesting the banksters. Homeschooling. Questionning the government on anything. Hating on Bernanke or Krugman, those geniuses! Asking questions about Fast And Furious and Benghazi! Protesting the Obama wars or abuse of power and secret assassinations. Etc...

zapdude's picture

Yes, #4 was the one that looks most ominous by letting the gov't decide what 'health' parameters should be used to restrict gun ownership.  We should all be aware of the list of dangerous signs the DHS and other goons have published in recent years: Ron Paul supporters, people who keep a copy of the Constitution, people who have supplies of food stored in their homes, etc.

We homeschool our kids for a lot of good reasons, but not having to worry about mass murderers is definitely one of those reasons (in addition to no pedophile teachers/counselors, no drugs or sex culture, etc).

Say What Again's picture

Right...  Like they don't have the IP address of everyone that ever visited this site.

trav777's picture

might want to think about putting "Mexican drug cartels" on this list.

NOTHING this administration or DOJ does with respect to firearms can survive the laughter

youngman's picture

"Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks. "

This is his angle....if he can expand the defination of mental health and dangerous people......he can get your guns.....remember he said Tea partiers were dangerous...DHS has said that too....so probably if you own a gun....you are a mental health case...and voila...you can no longer own a gun....its that easy...

This is gun contral and confiscation from the back door mental health issue....

ElvisDog's picture

Gun control and gun confiscation are two entirely separate issues. Let's say that a gun-control law was passed banning the sale of 99% of all new guns. Well, guess what? There are over 300 million existing guns in this country. The re-sale of those 300 million guns would continue as before, except it would probably go to a cash or barter system. You really think the libs can successfully confiscate even a fraction of those 300 million?

knightowl77's picture

Unless you have 450 million rounds of ammo sitting around, all they have to do is limit ammo sales and eventually your gun becomes useless

Husk-Erzulie's picture

I really was expecting the ammo attack, was surprised not to see it, which is what makes me come down on the "whole lotta nuthin" side.  With respect to those above however, #4 is the best candidate for stealth Orwellian tactic, but I don't really see it... Obamacare is too weak already, can't risk giving people a reason to really start seeking indy doctors (just like home schooling).  Pretty sure it's a big fat O-tool/Biden mega-fail.  Any body looked at HuffPo?  The tards must be shitting bright purple bricks...

ChanceIs's picture

"dangerous people"......"dangerous people".......

That would be the same as suspected terrorists, yes?

In which case you have no Habeas Corpus rights under NDAA.

Yes, posting - much less reading - ZeroHedge puts you in every one of those categories.  Mark Zuckerberg knows your every keystroke.

I have met a lot of great people on the internet.  Some have led to face-to-face contact.  I used to post on Silicon Investor a lot.  I have friends there.  We used to joke about getting together so we can meet each other en masse.

I would like to meet everybody here.  I feel we have a lot in common and would be better investors for it.

So today is a joyful one for me.  I now feel confident that we will be having our first ZeroHedge confab at GITMO within a month.  Travel and expenses paid by Janet Napolitano - who will be hangoing around for Obama II.

Hey!!!!  Cuba is great in February.

LawsofPhysics's picture

I wonder if 1) these political puppets will give up all of their armed security teams and 2) how long before everyone that isn't part of the fascist regime is declared "dangerous".

This is a very slippery slope folks.

Bad Attitude's picture

You know damned well that the VIPs won't give up their armed security details.

That is well covered by FRANKENSTEINS AWB Bill yet to be presented to Congress.

(And BTW) the proposed list of banned weapons, are Pump shotguns/semi automatic shotguns, any of them and all.

Her bill is basically a LINE by LINE laundry list of ANY wepaon that could possibly be used against THEM!.

Racer's picture

And if all those had been in place would they have prevented that school shooting?

Moe Howard's picture

Nope. Wouldn't change a thing.

Dapper Dan's picture

Lanza changed magazines frequently as he fired his way through the first-grade classrooms of Lauren Rousseau and Victoria Soto, sometimes shooting as few as 15 shots from a 30-round magazine, sources said.

More than a week after the shooting, investigators were still finding bullets under doors and in carpets and walls in the school as they tried to match the casings to the magazines.

Investigators are aware that frequent reloading is common in violent video games because an experienced player knows never to enter a new building or room without a full magazine so as not to risk running out of bullets. This has led them to speculate privately that this might be a reason that he replaced magazines frequently.

Matt's picture

Apparently, the people who write laws do not have access to Youtube. Reloading only takes a second, if you practise:

XenoFrog's picture

No but don't you feel better about the whole thing?

tarsubil's picture

This will actually solve the budget crisis. Or not. Whatever. You weren't supposed to even read the list let alone think about it.

#16 - if you're sick and own a gun, too bad...

Racer's picture

Is your gun sick and need medical attention? I can fix that too

Missiondweller's picture

They want your doctor to rat you out to the Feds that you own a gun. If so, better hope you're not on any anti-depressents. (Of course its the ones who don't take their meds that kill people)

XenoFrog's picture

If my doctor asks me if I own a gun I'll say no then find a new doctor. Preferrably one who knows how to mind his own fucking business concerning what liberties I choose to excercise.

jonan's picture

dear leader will have you punished for lying, comrade...

Zer0head's picture

Good luck finding a new doc with 30m new customers bout to come on line, and just wait till your drivers license is modified to include gun ownership - now you're caught lieing to your doctor bout a federal matter - that means jail

I'm sorry, but I don't recall.  Worked for many infamous politicians.

Just say it's none of you business.End of story.

Agree in principle, but I suggest a different turn of phrase:"That's not a medical question, I don't see any relevance."
