So Obama released his Executive Orders to Prevent Maniacs From Being Maniacs today. I’ve taken the time to translate the summaries into plain English below:
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
Tell the government to follow the law.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
Tell the regulators to stop the stupid and useless regulations.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
Pay the states back for the unfunded mandates that the Feds keeps making.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
Tell the Attorney General to do his job.
5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
Start another unfunded mandate. (See #3.)
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
Tell FDLs how to do something no one is ever going to bother to do.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
Do the same thing the NRA already does, only half as well at twice the cost.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
Do what Underwriters Laboratories already does, only half as well at twice the cost.
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
Tell the Feds to do their jobs.
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
Tell the DOJ to do its job.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
Tell myself to do my job.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
Spend more money.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
Tell everyone to do their goddamned jobs.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
Tell the doctors to figure out why it isn’t the feds’ fault that they aren’t doing their jobs.
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
Figure out a way to push “smart guns” that don’t exist and wouldn’t be useful as guns if they did.
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
Tell everyone that Obamacare doesn’t actually mean what it says.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
Tell everyone that, seriously, Obamacare doesn’t actually mean that. We had to pass it to find out what was in it, after all.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
Tell everyone that I’ve been a partisan hack for the last month every time I said the NRA was crazy to want to post more cops in schools.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
Do the same thing that every police agency in the country has already done, only half as well and at ten times the cost.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
Tell doctors what they already know.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
Tell people what the parts of Obamacare don’t say anything.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
Tell HHS to do their job.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

Force all gun owners to buy a gun safe that weighs 300+ pounds or is chained to the foundation. That will drastically reduce kids and thieves from getting their hands on them. It will also stimulate the safe market. They make quick access safes that could be made to look like a night table. Inside could be kept your gun cocked and loaded. They punish the parents if kids take the family car and wreck it into anyone why shouldn't they hold the parents responsible if they do not have a safe. They keep saying gun restrictions would not have prevented Sandy Hook but this would have if the mother had kept the guns locked up. She would also be alive.

Nope, won't work. Standard gun safes - such as the typical fare available at Bass Pro Shops, etc. - can be opened with a large crowbar and a hand sledge. The good ones (tubular slide bars, concrete-filled panels) are simply too expensive for the average Joe to afford. Perhaps if Joe had lots of money and a dozen guns to protect, but what if he has just a single firearm?
Gun safes are good, and I recommend them when applicable and affordable. But they should not be mandatory to exercise an "inalienable right" declared by our Founding Fathers as endowed upon us by our Creator.

Just this morning, a British business contact arrived from London (for a face-to-face executive meeting at our company), and after the introductory pleasantries he made a mention of the recent Newtown CT massacre. He then smirked and said he thinks it's crazy that people here in America can simply walk into a store and buy a "semi-automatic gun".
When I asked him "why not?", he went all Piers Morgan-esque on me. I reminded him that our cultural backgrounds are different, in that the UK has centuries of feudalism behind it (the armed few protect the unarmed many), while Americans began with self-protection and continue with it today. I then informed him about the incident last week in Georgia where the woman hid with her kids in the attic while an intruder broke into their home. Only after the intruder found her and presented a life-and-death situation, did she finally shoot him. Out of six shots fired from her revolver, five hit the guy, and yet he was STILL able to walk out of the house and drive away (before crashing and being picked up by the police).
My point? If it took five bullets to stop (not kill, but simply stop) the threat, then she and her kids might have been SOL if there had been a second intruder, as she had run out of bullets. A firearm is the great equalizer, and put her on a superior footing over the intruder, saving her life and her kids' lives.
The Brit didn't get it. Pity.
Those of us that support the 2nd already know the facts involved. The thing is, those that have decided to pursue GC couldn't care less about the truth. I think the left believes they will have the best chance of a ban if they focus on the "scary" looking firearms first. What's different from 94' is that I see much more of a push back from the average person, whether they own them or not. Many more see it for what it is, an attempt to make the population more controllable.

If kids are afraid to be in school, then they are not going to be concentrating on learning. We're not only failing to protect them, we are failing to give them a sense of security and safety. People were standing five deep to get their hands on a gun, any gun. Most of 'em didn't have the slightest clue what they were looking for and were talked into crap weapons that suddenly and mysteriously had been marked up an extra hundred. The background check phone line, when it was working at all, was taking an hour to get through the process. People are waking up, hurrah.
If just one life is saved, it is worth it.

Guns and Schools - Problem Solved
The solution to the problem of guns and schools is freedom of education.
After giving parents absolute control over any tax dollars spent on their children's education, they will naturally choose not just the best education – but the safest.
Ten million free market experiments in education can find ways to serve customers (parents and kids) better than a panel of 10 government experts with their corrupt, bureaucratic, obsolete, ineffective, one-size-fits-all, mandatory programs – of the unions, by the unions, for the unions.
Likewise, ten million free market experiments in safety can find ways to serve customers better than a panel of 10 government experts.
It is no secret that the Democratic Party is the side advocating a panel of 10 government experts. Therefore, parents should have been asking, "How is it that the party of equality is so obsessed with appeals to the authority of elite opinion?"
It is no secret that it is the Democratic party in bed with the unions. Therefore, parents should have been asking, "How is it that the party of choice is so anti-choice?"
Certainly many customers will choose solutions to school safety that involve guns used for the purpose of self defense, and it is no secret that the Democratic Party is the party that wants to disarm the people. Therefore, parents should have been asking, "How is it that the party that wants to empower the little guy is the party that wants to disarm the little guy."
Make no mistake. The Democratic Party is all about conformity, control, and government dependence. That is how they have played their role in destroying the Black community – and America.
Don’t get fooled into thinking that the Republican Party is the answer. They have a different role to play in destroying the Black community – and America. On other issues it is the reverse.
Of course, any voter or low level politician who sincerely supports freedom of education will thus be drawn to the Republican Party, the Libertarian Party, and/or the Tea Party, but the Republican Party is controlled by the Neocons (Republican Progressives). Like the Democratic Party, the Neocons don’t want freedom of education. They too are obsessed with appeals to authority, and they too want to disarm the little guy. Like I said, the Neocons are Republican Progressives.
We are Americans. How is it that we have less freedom of education than just about any country in the world?
Any who would attempt a solution as big as freedom of education cannot succeed unless they understand that both parties, as well as the mainstream media, are front men for the Global Money Masters. Any movement to implement freedom of education would thus precipitate very strong and sophisticated resistance backed with infinite money, infinite patience, and initially – infinite force … but that is the key. The force comes from us.

I'm all for complete educational freedom, but MY main reasoning is to permit the educated and intelligent to more easily dominate the social and political sphere while the know-nothings track themselves into career paths digging ditches and mopping floors.
