The Lance Armstrong Lie Cloud

Tyler Durden's picture

Yesterday Lance Armstrong admitted to the New Normal national confessional and conscience clearinghouse - Oprah - to what everyone had known for a long time, yet what he spent millions over the years suing others for "defaming" him for. Below is the resulting word liecloud of his interview. Spot the words "apologize" and "sorry." In other news, we look forward to Lance's rise to the ranks of primary dealer prop trader. He certainly has all the sociopathological prerequisites.

Pro athletes that don't dope, roid-up, PED-up, etc, just haven't been caught yet.

Lance's next career move may be politician or banker... The traits of lying, cheating, deceiving, and rating on friends are all necessary for the above careers.

But, he may be the soap boy @ the federal entertainment camp...

I always said. If all sports just legalize all , then no one would have an advantage of the field. If you don't want to take them because you don't want to drop dead at 50 , well that's your problem.

As insignificant this whole ordeal is next to current global events; I can't really blame Lance for being a product of modern US society where those that 'succeed' lie, cheat and steal. =/

Lance's approach to managing his career and reputation mirrors that of half of the managers I have ever worked for. Cheat, cover up, bully, kill the messenger, repeat.

In retrospect, this guy destroyed for a whole generation of cycling fans the mystery, the charm, of their  greatest annual race.

Everybody knew right from day 1 he was on drugs and nobody could nail him and we all hailed him 7 times as winner of Tour the France knowing there was a dark cloud hanging over him and therefore over the whole stinking professsion he iconised; with the specialised media beaten into silence to protect the million $ bonanza of TV money and their own media glory as jackanapes of herculian drama during sprints and mountain climbs.

Now we know he was bat shit ambitious and talking to the INt cycling federation to TAKE OVER THE TOUR AS A PRIVATE MONOPOLY! Run by Lord Lance himself!

A hostile take over like a WS shark of this unique july festival of holiday thrills n spills in french countryside frolicking. Sick, sick, sick.

Imagine the hubris; you cheat and then you not only take to court people for libel but behind the curtain you try and buy up the whole shooting match on the basis of your sham steroid pump purple glory. Is that worthy of an olympian?

Can you see an analogy there with WS and with its greatest politicians cum sport buddies, like GWB/Cheney/Sarkozy. Two of them were Lance's greatest supporters...

Birds of a common feather, sons of hubris and of that unfailing political doctrine of Machiavelli : "if you cheat do it on an awesome scale and pretend you are Saint Louis or King Arthur himself and God sits by your side!"...and the sheeple gobble it up like you  wielded Excalibur shining bright.

Until the sham curtain falls. It did for Nixon, now for Lance. When will it fall for this WS cabal?

When will it for capitalism gone Circus MAximus?

Love it how that committee never actually caught him. But yet Lance comes clean anyway, he would make a shitty banker.

All competitive athletes are on drugs- the cyclists are just the best and most advanced at not getting caught. That tour de france is insane, how do you do even compete if even 1 person in the last 3 yrs did juice or may be on EPO? when it comes down to fractions of a second in most sports, they are pretty much all winners to me. OH that's the winner the guy that went 1/10th of a second faster- yep he's a winner alright, must have better discipline.

Who cares anyways, its just sports.

Lance Armstrong is the perfect capitalist.

His business is celebrity via cycling.   His growth and profitability growth is based upon winning races which improve his celebrity.

Since there is no morality factor, his business plan included any method which would increase winnings. Winnings increased power and money.   Over the years this included doping, sueing anyone who questioned him, ruining people and capitalizing on his cancer.

As a deeply indoctrinated people we should understand this and not mind it.

After all it is what wall street and all other business interests engage in every day.  It is what we in the US are taught to worship and admire.

I kind of sickens me when they lock up a pot head for 5 years yet Lance will uses illicit drugs, for years, admit to it and the authority condones it.

Steroid use without a valid prescription is a felony yet no one is charged?

WTF?

It's the same as when a felon apllies to get a gun and is rejected. The simple act of filling out the paper work is a felony yet the gov't does not indict these people.

There is no rule of law in this land.

Armstrong's public admission at this point appears nonsensical.   After all the public denials over the years why would he now admit to doping especially with numerous lawsuits pending?

It appears (to me) that the only reason is that he is trying to pave the way for him to be allowed to compete in events like triathalons (in the distant future) where he is now banned from participating.

If that is the case then what does that say about his competitive spirit?  I'd say that his inner burning desire to compete is what won him 7 Tours.  He was competing, after all, against other riders using the same illegal techniques.  It was his inner passion that made the difference.

I'd agree with the commentor above who said that last year's Tour was terribly boring.  I say bring back the drugs.

Why are we, as a nation, spending so much time on the lies of an athlete when the lies of our so called leaders are destroying civilization as we know it.

if america has a shred of respect left for itself, it will do only one thing with this man: jail

however history bares out the difficulties america has with prosecuting mortals it has previously and feverishly ellivated to celebrity god status..

your religious cult of celebrity just doesn't prescribe what to do adequately, so instead the country will use the affair as another time wasting episode to numbingly talk talk talk and talk.. about a lot of substanceless nothing at the end of the day.. until it all somehow fades and morphs into a less offensive thing he did.. but for mine, and speaking as a reality based entity here, he deserves nothing less than 5 years jail, and multimillion dollar fines..

good luck (america)
