I've said it before and I'll say it again. Anonymous is nothing but psyops to advance Internet control by TPTB. If they were serious they would stop with the kid's games and disrupt something in the system that would be a little more problematic. You want to prove you're serious Anon? Take down a bank.

Ever consider that the group can't actually do anything more problematic?  Using your example, financial institutions have siphoned off top tech talent for a generation+.  Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested on IT infrastructure and its protection.  Seems like a stretch that a handful of script kiddies could do something more damaging than denial of service.

That's my take on it as well.

No way it can be psyops in it's entirety because anonymous on the whole is just that - anonymous - no membership criteria, no vetting, and back in the day used to consist mainly of dumb 4chan fucks.

That's not to say gov couldn't use the name to their advantage, but I think the gov would come up with better ways than just using bloody ddosing as the primary attack.

The banks gobbled up all the Russian hackers?

Somewhere in this equation you KNOW that operatives from other countries are hacking away as well, in which case the US govt does have a sense of a real concern.  That said, child rapists in prison are worried about security too.

The weekend timing really reeks of not causing a REAL problem. I suspect the whole page is just an isolated loop that can be replaced with the "real" page with a few keystrokes before it actually causes a problem come Monday.
If "Anonymous" were real hackers, their anger over the Schwartz deal would NOT have been to get the public to play an obsolete video game.

ROTFLMAO!!!

Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.

The RFP describes the firearm as “Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) – 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum concealment is required.” Additionally, DHS is asking for 30 round magazines that “have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.”

Republican New York state Sen. Greg Ball also issued a press release this week bringing attention to the weapons purchase request.

Calls made to DHS seeking information regarding whether or not the RFP was accepted and fulfilled were not immediately returned on Saturday."

New Yawkers must be asking themselves now...where do submit my RFP for my brand new PDW with accessories like 30rd mags under this wonderful new government program? ;-)

And as I have just seen in the other Anonymous thread, it gets rationalized with "progress from chaos". Wasn't that the philosophy of the villains of Babylon 5? The shadows?

Let me reiterate my point:

Bringing corruption to light is a-okay. Telling democratically elected governments (however flawed they may be): "We have this information on you and either you do X or we will do Y to you" is not. That is making RAF-style demands, trying to coerce governments.

And any of you who think that Anonymous and its sympathizers isn't full of people who think "rich people are pretty much all bad" is wrong. Do you really believe Anonymous would lead to more liberty? Or to more socialism?

If they were a-okay, they'd just hack the gov and release what evidence of corruption they had found. Without all the BS.

People miss one point. They are kids (mentally and age wise) not adults, very smart ones technically but lacking in the wisdom and common sense department. Kids think it is a video game or some hollywood movie and not serious business. The grunts (and maybe the generals) here are clearly kids.

p.s. If you don't know why, don't run any java at this point that you don't know the souce to - NoScript will prevent auto-launching of said Javascript

Very good point, and a bit of a slip-up. I'd not looked at the .gov code live when I made that comment, because I've no willingness to dive into that particular shit-storm.

Since that post, I've learnt that various Anons have put the code up open source to be examined on GitHub; it seems to be safe. I suggest a look around #opLastResort for more details. However, the US gov (and other sources) have been warning about Javascript exploits for some time now, and NoScript should be the very least of your protections, so it can't hurt.

Blame it on a lack of coffee; the code was indeed Javascript (at least the KONAMI code activation part), so could have been open to expolits. Screengrab of part of Javascript used.

Apologies for the FUD, the intention was correct.
