Department of Homeland Security to Purchase 7,000 "Assault Weapons"

The hypocrisy of the government knows no bounds. I have said repeatedly, and continue to say, that I am against all gun control at the moment because our government is extremely violent and not only do I not expect it to protect the American people in general, I believe it is far more concerned with protecting the status quo from the people. It has become crystal clear that the political and financial oligarchs are quite intentionally attempting to disarm the populace while arming themselves to the teeth in anticipation of some horrible economic event they know is inevitable. The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.
Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.
That being said, it is reasonable for the Department of Homeland Security to request these rifles as they are indeed effective personal defense weapons. The agency is tasked with keeping Americans safe from those who wish to do the country harm, and its officials should be equipped with all the tools they need to do so effectively.
See the meme being pushed here? These guys want the entire population completely domesticated. They want us to depend on the government for food. For healthcare. For self-defense. Two sets of laws. One for the “rulers” and one for the “ruled.” This is the opposite of how things function in a free society.
I am sorry, but unless you think the DHS is preparing for an invasion by Al Qaeda, it is quite clear these weapons are being bought for future use against the citizenry of the United States. The writing on the wall couldn’t be clearer.

Full-auto is (usually) only beneficial to the SAW gunner, not the riflemen with M4s, who are more than likely on 3-round burst. With 60 lbs of Class-IV body armor, and another 60 lbs on your back, no one has the luxury of going Rambo on full auto with unlimited clips.
Only thing I'm trying to decide on is whether a suppressor is worth getting on the ATF radar by requesting/buying the stamp so I can buy one...
Not a suppressor, but I can recommend the Levang Linear Compensator for your rifle. It sends all the gases and noise down range. From the prone pos there is almost no dust kicked up, people to the side don't get their ears popped, and it allows the rifle to be fired sans ear defenders without ringing. Especially great on SBR's or 5.56 pistols like Kel-tecs PLR 16.

I was at the gun range one day when a guy in a FedEx jacket took a full size target of a outline of a person and sent it out 25 yards. He then proceeded to unload 2 15 round magazines at the target. To everyone's surprise he not only missed the outline- he didn't even hit the 3 foot by 4 foot paper. Just cause you give some asshole a gun doesn't mean he can hit the side of a barn. Lesson learned that day is if you ever have a fire fight with FedEx. Stand still. Wonder what ups can do?

I'll tell you why Obama signed those 23 executive orders: To panic people into buying guns, hence GDP stays positive, otherwise the ongoing depression would have been visible.
If the dems prevent people from having guns, the GDP will be -5%.
What the democrats want is that americans should NOT buy used guns, but brand new ones. It's called Keynesianims or aggregate demand.
What they have accomplished is moving forward in time all sales of guns. New and used. And ammo. And magazines. And reloading equipment and powder and bullets and empty brass. Heck, all the 22LR is gone. Time shifting of sales is a typical politican reaction but it always catches up eventually.

It could also just be a means of "buying us out" - make such huge demand for "assault" rifles that they become scarce for the citizens. Someone needs to look up whether there is some national defense provision which gives government priority on weapons purchases...something along the lines of "if Uncle Sam orders it, you have to sell to him, first".
Just throwing this out there...are the gun and ammo manufacturers getting the equivalent of "farm subsidies" to "not grow" ammo and guns, at least to limit public consumption?
Good point Olympic Arms and Stag's website say they are a year out from filling orders. Chraper than Dirt is way low on many ammo selections.
For the love of god, no one should ever again patronize Cheaper Than Dirt. Don't even look at their fucking website. They already sold us down the river with their price gouging in 2008. But their latest shenanigans make it perfectly clear that their only interest is in accomodating public opinion and gouging firearm owners. If enough people withhold their dollars, those supplies will simply shift to other retailers and CTD will be relegated to the dustin of history (and assholes).
