Department of Homeland Security to Purchase 7,000 "Assault Weapons"

The hypocrisy of the government knows no bounds. I have said repeatedly, and continue to say, that I am against all gun control at the moment because our government is extremely violent and not only do I not expect it to protect the American people in general, I believe it is far more concerned with protecting the status quo from the people. It has become crystal clear that the political and financial oligarchs are quite intentionally attempting to disarm the populace while arming themselves to the teeth in anticipation of some horrible economic event they know is inevitable. The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.
Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.
That being said, it is reasonable for the Department of Homeland Security to request these rifles as they are indeed effective personal defense weapons. The agency is tasked with keeping Americans safe from those who wish to do the country harm, and its officials should be equipped with all the tools they need to do so effectively.
See the meme being pushed here? These guys want the entire population completely domesticated. They want us to depend on the government for food. For healthcare. For self-defense. Two sets of laws. One for the “rulers” and one for the “ruled.” This is the opposite of how things function in a free society.
I am sorry, but unless you think the DHS is preparing for an invasion by Al Qaeda, it is quite clear these weapons are being bought for future use against the citizenry of the United States. The writing on the wall couldn’t be clearer.

To the Editor: I live in Sandy Hook, CT. My family and close friends weren't harmed on December 14. That day impacted 26 families with an indescribable, staggering pain and anguish. For most of Sandy Hook, it merely affected us with an inescapable intensity of sadness and grief. Gun control has long been a focus of many in this country. Though I'm not knowledgeable of all the nuances of the Second Amendment, based on the Founding Fathers' circumstances, it had far more to do with enabling the citizenry to protect themselves against tyrannical government than against local psychopaths. It is about providing a balanced firepower so when King George's successor came knocking on your door, you could fight back. Government today is no less inclined to abuse its authority than it was then. Based on the absurd and ongoing power grab that is present day Washington, it's as threatening as ever. That so many of you view the NRA with its resistance to further restrictions on firearms as intransigent lunatics has far more to do with how you conduct yourselves in office than it does with the NRA's actions. You in public office are fundamentally dishonest people. You lead lives of deception at every turn, structuring your lives as comfortably as you can while governing with an indifference and arrogance that is absolutely maddening. When the country is reeling from financial disaster, you waste a trillion dollars on a health care bill we can't afford and you've never read. You claim it's critical because health care costs are killing this country... no they're not, you are! You are killing this country. Putting 1.4 Billion Rounds Into Perspective, And The 1400 lbs Of High Tech Explosives DHS Just Ordered
Let's put these DHS numbers in perspective. An Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer displaces (weighs) 9,300 tons. 1.4 billion rounds weigh around 28,000 tons, three destroyers' worth, so to speak. It takes over 1,200 18-wheel trucks to move that much ammunition. That's the equivalent to a line of single trailer trucks, parked end to end, almost 14 miles long.
But surely they are not going to use this "HOLLOW POINT" ammunition on American citizens?

I'm sure you know that many people claim that the European Union is the new Soviet Union (hence its often called EUSSR).

Lastly for the meek and sheep it starts on the state level with liability insurance for carrying ANY weapon. Massachusetts is already trying this approach. Once all weapons need to be registered and all the databases can be tied into one giant Federal database (for background checks) then you get the obamacare version of weapon liability insurance that is unaffordable to everyone except the those with lots of money. The game is to not violate the 2nd amendment but to regulate the rights to death by making them unobtainable. This is how they role.

The folks in our military after these endless, useless and counterproductive wars are quite aware of what their government is doing. The chances of them going awal when things go hay wire are quite high in my estimation. True patriots will draw the line when asked to retrieve uncle billiies weapons.

Isn't it really as simple as that there are parts of govt. that are concerned about civil unrest.
If the banking system implodes... if we have a sovern crisis, we're going to have civil unrest. We are going to have hungry people with no way to feed themselves. It will be chaos. It will be Greece or Spain except on a much larger scale with a country full of firearms. I wouldn't want to live in an urban environment.
I only hope that when the, "reset" comes, it won't take too long to sort out. My fear is that it will take some time.

About all you can do is have some food, water put away and some way to defend yourself if/when this happens. I mean nobody really knows what this will look like or how long it will last. It will work itself out but, let's hope that we have learned something from history.
