Pope Benedict XVI Announces Resignation At End Of Month
A stunning announcement to start the week from the Pope, who just a month ago was the first pontiff to enter twitter, and who just announced his resignation at the end of the month for "health reasons." “I’m very shaken by this unexpected news,” outgoing Italian PM Mario Monti told reporters today on the sidelines of an event in Milan, as reported by Ansa. A Vatican spokesman confirms Pope Benedict XVI, who is 85 and was one of the oldest new popes when elected, is not resigning because of any difficulties in the papacy. And so Pope Benedict XVI, f/k/a/ Joseph Ratzinger, April 19, 2005 - February 28, 2013.

Full Papal resignation letter below.
Pope Benedict XVI on Monday said he plans on resigning the papal office on February 28th. Below please find his announcement.
Full text of Pope's declaration
Dear Brothers,
I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.
Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.
From the Vatican, 10 February 2013
BENEDICTUS PP XVI

nothing unexpected, he took the name Benedict in honour of Benedict XV - a pope that reigned for a very short while, during a difficult transitional period
Cardinal Ratzinger was also the one that spearheaded the new rule that throws Cardinals over 80 years of age out of the conclave
------
for all those who relish in papal debauchery please find here the story of another Benedict that was way cooler than this one: Pope Benedict IX
good looking, bisexual, loved to celebrate orgies and sold once the papal throne. all in all he was three times pope - or twice pope and once anti-pope, if you want
now the discussion will start again if the next one will be an African or an Asian

Is he Catholic?
There is a group of break-away 'traditionalist' Roman Catholics - including actor Mel Gibson, who has plowed a huge amount of funds into the churches -
Those Catholics say that all the popes since the late 1950s have been non-legitimate, traitors, not real popes, and thus that the papacy is (Latin) 'sede vacante' - the throne is empty.
They cite how the Vatican in the 1960s totally and cruelly destroyed the ancient Roman Catholic prayer culture, with the Latin and the pretty church services and the music and the smoky incense
They do have a point there ... Not that it was wrong to let people do church in new styles and modern languages, but the fact that they suddenly imposed what was essentially an outlawing and banning of what a lot of people loved about Catholicism ... It was almost like they wanted to destroy religion instead of preserve it
The recent Popes threw away and banned the nice stuff - the Latin and the pretty and musical church events - and kept the totally stupid stuff, like being anti-condom, anti-birth control ...
And mostly restricting the leadership of Latin churches to non-married men, thus favouring the whole gay-men-with-young-boys crimes ... and leaving many of the Catholic churches in the world without anyone proper in charge of the show.
In the Middle East there are actually a few allowed married Catholic priests in areas where the Christian Orthodox are dominant - so-called 'Uniate' Catholics - and they have also let married Episcopalians become Catholic priests ... so why the Popes don't let priests marry generally, seems to be some kind of Vatican weirdness
Considering the amount of political dirt on the Vatican in terms of both financial and banking scandals and mysteriously dead witnesses, and then the Vatican's spooky involvement in all the criminality going on in Israel and other geo-political centres.
And that it is only 143 years since the last Papal executioner was putting people to death ... and this Pope is a direct successor to the old torturing Inquisitors ...
Even many Catholics might wish for a new Pope who would end all the crazy and cruel stuff ... Say condoms are okay, let priests marry, let women be Catholic priests, and give the Vatican territory back to Italy ... take on a humbler role, be more like Jesus, walking around more as a simple man with some kind and good words ...
You're not catholic, are you? Go listen to what Ann Barnhardt has to say. She'll fix your wagon.

Beware the pink AR-15. That thing shoots real bullets.
Don't suppose the "health reasons" have anything to do with the fact that the Church's St. Malachy circa 1148 A.D. prophesied/directed a specific succession of Popes, most if not all has pretty much turned out to be true ... culminating with Benedict XVI being the last "good pope", whereupon "Peter the Roman" now enters, stage right ... to bring about the deliberately engineered end of the Roman Catholic Church? My oh my, it's almost as if the world is committing its own suicide ... suicide bankers, suicide terrorists, and even a suicide Papacy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes
And the system of anctichrist marches on to its eventual destruction.
The papacy is "The man of sin who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshippid; so that he as God sits in the temple of God (i.e. Christ's church), showing himself that he is God. (St. Paul to the Thessalonians" - 2 Thess 2:4)
The Catholic church was heavy infiltrated in 1930s guess by whom?

This has to happen. CIA got no money for him any more.
Hitler youth?
The Roman Catholic Church went wrong in 1054 when they separated from the one true church...it's been all down hill from there for the Romans, who have since gave birth to protestanism and it's 1000's of sects.
Is he Catholic?
Does the Pope wear little red shoes?
only if they match his gold pants...
Too pooped to pope.
Ex-Benedict.
Now they have an explanation for all the smoke pouring out of the Vatican as they hastily burn records.
My guess is the next Pope will be an African. There is a lot of effort by the church to grow there.
well, if you listen to those Vatican guys they see northern europe as way more important - hence the Polish and the German
and the Italians are pointing to how much damage those last two did (I know, not fair, but church politics can be vicious) and ask for a return of a moderate Italian
Church doctrine still says that actually the Holy Ghost nudges the conclave to make the right choice - ehmm... don't let me comment on that
hey, ...Ron Paul for Pope!

Cardinal Peter Turkson ( from Ghana) is favourite to replace the current Pope.
Below is something from Peter Turksons Wiki site that caught my attention.
" In response to the global economic crisis started in 2008, Cardinal Turkson together with bishop Mario Toso elaborated a proposal to reform the international financial system by creating a Global Public Authority and a Global Bank that consider the interest of all developing countries. The document of 40 pages was officially presented in October 2011 and criticizes the actual structure of International Monetary Fund and other institutions."

112th Pope? The Last Pope - Petrus Romanus (Peter the Roman; the apostate pope; the anti-pope?)
"During the last persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit upon the throne, Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep amid great tribulations, and when these are passed, the City of the Seven Hills (Rome) will be utterly destroyed, and the awful Judge will then judge the people" - St. Malachy
a very old Italian prophecy reads,
"When the White Pope and the Black Pope (Head of the Jesuits or an Anti-Pope) shall die during the same night, then there will dawn upon the Christian nations the Great White Day."
I had read St Malachy's prediction before, and knew that Benedict was the second to last Pope that there ever would be.....all the old prophecy pieces fall into place at the exact time that economies implode, armies march, wars and rumors of wars....Could get very interesting if the trend continues
R U kiddin?
The war of civilizations is on.
The next pope has to rationalize the 'removal' of millions of Muslims from Europe over the next few years. After all, this is what the Almighty Cars command: "Cut demand" they murmur. "Either you drive or THEY drive, what's it going to be?" Don't look for any Africans or Latins, either.
Look for a cardinal named Reinhard Heydrich.
"When the White Pope and the Black Pope (Head of the Jesuits or an Anti-Pope) shall die during the same night, then there will dawn upon the Christian nations the Great White Day."
This sounds like a near-perfect description of a future "mass extinction event" supernova.
Peter the Roman bitchez, interesting times we're witnessing! I am very much looking forward to see a Roman in the holly see and i have prepared a fat joint for this solemn occasion.
""In the extreme persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit [i.e., as bishop].
Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations:
and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed,
and the terrible judge will judge his people.
The End."
Btw, i am not so much looking forward to Peter the Roman per SE, but rather to the Terrible Judge. Short Satan, go long Jesus!
I would hope someone on a blog concerning financial matters would point out the that Vatican's financial dealings are fairly Byzantine, in the its-all-a-shell-game sense of the term, and that Italian authorities are all over the Church in Italy these last couple years (see, Economist).
My suspicion is that just like handling the pedophile scandals caught the Church leaders without a clue (not that they were personally involved, but they didn't know how to address it), that the financial dealings of banks the Vatican deals with will be beyond the keen of the average Church leader (as it is for politiicans as well, but that's another story). I've got to think that Benedict's stepping down might have had something to do with the Italian authorities looking deeper into the Church's banking partners, and that Benedict might have a deposition or 10 coming up.
That means the next pope will be someone beyond the immediate Rome cabal, a clean outsider.
Nobody is mentioning that this sadistic prick knew about the pediphile priests throughout the world and instructed each bishop to keep quiet and cover-up. The crisis finally came home to Europe and now he needs to go. Watch the documentary that recently premiered on HBO. I made me want to burn down Catholic Churches! Despicable fucks!
While my intention is not to defend the record of the catholic church with regard to pedophilia you need to get better sources than HBO.
Sorry. I'll double check with Alex Jones or any other "blogger" who knows later today and get back to you. Seriously though, I've been following this story for a decade and am quite knowledgeable about the crimes of the church. The entire Vatican should be arrested.
Washington DC is positively infested and overrun with pedophiles, and yet somehow, the media and justice system only seems to find them in the Catholic church.
And don't get me started about the European power elites. Normal people breathe air the same way they sexually molest children.
actually-there is a much higher percentage of child molesters in the US public school system-but the Jew Stream Media is looking to dismantle religion so you won't read much about that
It's gonna be easier to recruit "freedom fighters" to help liberate parts of Africa from the inside with a black pope leading the way.
Future newscast - "This years Mali elections "The Dawning of Freedom and Democracy" is sponsored by (insert mining consortium here) and will be blessed by the new pope (insert new black pope name here -) ."
(I am curious what name he will take to increase the popularity of the church. There was a Sylvester, so he could go with Tweety. Or, he could go after the Star Wars crowd and call himself Lando II. It would fit, both him and his namesake are black and it would be a traditional name. I am sure the SW franchise would spend a few mil on the Pope naming rights.)
fuck that pedarist defending nazi
Down with pedarist nazis!!
Huh? What's that?
Did you mean pedalist?
..spoken with a heavy Szechuan accent?
i logged in just for giving you thumbs up about Pope Benedict IX story... that was the best pope ever!

This is big news. The beginning of the end has commenced. Enjoy yo beer, while you still can.
yeah...the fuckin guy is old....maybe he'll do the Bob Hope Classic...wear taupy shoes....cone golf hat.....
Repent, the end is nigh. The prophecy of Malachi says this is going to be the last Pope.
Signed: an American.
According to Malachi, the next pope will be the last.
only if he takes the reigning name of Petrus II, I thought
though I also understand that this prophecy counts only the crowned popes, and this one skipped the crowning cerimony with the triple-crown tiara
Hopefully he will explain what that crap at Petra finally means after all these years.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcunIFHHwT4&feature=player_embedded
why crap? Petra is astonishling beautiful. can only reccomend it. don't forget to walk up to the alleged Aaron's Sacrifice site, and don't miss the various roman burial sites on this way
Petra is astonishling beautiful
Yes it is.....but it doesn't possess the mathematics of Giza.

Okay, I'll bite: How the hell do you get that out of Malachi?
But wait...
I see from other posts that this is not Malachi the prophet, but Malachy the "saint."
You may ignore the question.
