Video Of The Day: Regulators Squirm When Asked About "Too Big to Jail"

Tyler Durden's picture

Via Michael Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

This video has been going around for a few days, but wow.  Very powerful and could be effective in knocking some sense into more sheeple if it gets spread widely enough.  It’s an absolute joke that these people being questioned by Senator Elizabeth Warren are supposed hold the banks to task.  I mean this Tom Curry character.  I could probably go up to him, take his glasses off his face and walk away and he wouldn’t even notice.  Furthermore, those little placards in front of them that state “honorable.”  These people have zero honor.  The joke’s on us.

She also makes the key point how ordinary citizens are constantly harassed by the “authorities” for what are in many cases petty and victimless crimes, while the bankers who have unleashed more destruction than anyone else, get slaps on the wrist.  Every single American should watch this short clip.

Not at all. I was just making sure he understood the ramifications of sticking together. Kind of tongue and cheek but being serious at the same time. When the shit hits the fan a lot of people are going to need their friends..kind of like a NATO alliance thing.

Some Things Are Worth Fighting For!!!

"The battle,Sir,is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides,Sir,we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable; and let it come! I repeat, Sir, let it come!"

Who is "We?"

And, to what point/era is the way-back machine to be dialed?

Listen, the problems are systemic because the system is based on perpetual growth on a finite planet and we're hitting the wall on what Mother Nature will give up.

Are you really going to take back the System such that it would be fair for all, including the "pussies?"

Not that I think she's going to do anything with this but at least she got one thing right.

edit: I changed my comment here because I don't know what you were implying and didn't want to insult you blindly.  You didn't make it clear who you suggest were her biggest donors but you can see above that it's retirees then lawyers and law firms and not Wall St./Finance.

Yes, the administration has been pointing out how bad the bankers are for four years now and still keeps handing them money. Obama knows the system is broke and that the government facilitated its demise. He is building this disaster into a world wide Fukashima that will wipe everything away while lining up everyone to blame. The bankers, the insurance companies, the oil companies and anyone that he can define as rich (which will ultimately be a pretty low bar). This is the only way he can take absolute control. Complete financial collapse and the evil perps that caused it all to take the blame. Give the guy credit, he is no hypocrite. He knows exactly what he is doing. Warren is just one more pointing out what they have gone to great efforts to present.

Obama ain't trying to save anything. He's trying to burn it to the ground. It's same way every tyrant has done it. They can't take America with just force alone. They have to create demons that they can blame for the crash, so they can save us from the devils. They don't want to go up against our guns, they want us to do the dirty work, then put an end to us as the devil. How many posts do we see every day wanting to hang the bankers? No doubt they are morally flawed but those are who the tryants always use. And we always see the tyrants culling from their own ranks as the process progresses. No one is safe in this take down as everyone will be used against the other.

Fucking JUMP!

You will forever chase your tail.

No one in power is trying to destabilize power!  What fucking good could come of it?

"They don't want to go up against our guns"

Ha ha... they have fucking laser-guided munitions, acoustic and chemical weapons, all directed by satellites, and you think that TPTB are afraid of our silly little guns?

I have silly little guns in order to protect myself from others who have silly little guns.

Of course there are different groups of power that seek to uproot each other (East vs. West etc.), but this is nothing new.

"America," which is full of debt-ridden people, public AND private debts, isn't being hijacked.  Well, it is already "gone" in that that which had been can no longer be.  Reason being that there are insufficient resources to fuel any growth (which EVERYTHING is predicated on), let alone pay off the debts.

Bankers aren't being hung because they've been doing EXACTLY what their role has always been: to facilitate growth.  Yeah, they seek profits as they do so, but that's always been the case (whether the US or elsewhere); I believe that's the objective for every FOR PROFIT organization.

It's pretty silly to blame the players for the faults of the game.

Look around Seer. Everything is about destabilization. Why do you think the world's economy is acting as it is? Nobody knows whats coming next. You think that is an accident? You think they can "fundamentally change America" with everything just moving along swimingly? Crisis is a required component of change. If you want change you have to shake things up. Bankers are the pawns in this and have played a role just like everyone who bought a house on a subprime loan or spent their credit card to oblivian. This about power. the art of war. No, they don't want to face our weapons. Why else would they be trying to take them? Why else would they be trying to pit one group against another? They don't want the finger pointed at them with blood in the streets. They don't want another "four dead in Ohio" song on the top forty. They want domestic extremists with their "automatic" weapons on TV. They want blood on our hands, not theirs. And as this thing goes through it's death rattles your going to be seeing more and more bankers and "terrorists" in the news.

They are afraid of an ARMED POPULATION.  Why in the hell is there a gun control debate at all when everyone knows it wont stop criminals. The answer is simple - take the weapons so they can do whatever they want with no reprisal from an armed population.

It's never too late nick howdy. We agree on that. However, actions speak louder than words. Ms Warren had best back up her words with action or be dismissed as just another political brat.

On a provincial note, she displaced the man who ousted the Kennedy fiefdom in MA, so the Democrats have every incentive to give her center stage and talk big. Pity they have done little to hold gangsta bankstas to account for pillaging the U.S.A.

Talk is cheap, and career politicians are cheapest, imo. Collaborators.

Fixing freedom?  Ha.  I don't know if you've noticed this, but with each rescinding of a freedom, the successive president and congress builds on it.  Shrub brought us the Patriot Act.  Did Obummer do anything to reverse the effects of that liberty killer?  Nope, he signed the NDAA 2012 into heinous being.  So now not only can the government sniff your dirty shorts without penalty, they can jail you and kill you without trial if they don't like the smell.

That is exactly correct...from Big Slick's above post...and my comments in bold.

"There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. ... This is the statist-academic strawman setup line, for all that follows.

"You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; Implying they did not pay any taxes for infrastructure.

"you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; Again, implying they paid nothing. We won't even discuss the quality or utility of the education.

"you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did. At this point in her stage act, the assembled masses were to leap to their feet and tuck dollar bills into her garter before running out into the streets and hunt down any successful large business owner and string them up. Time to reel them back in before someone calls the cops ON THEM.

"Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea. God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is, you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along." - Elizabeth Warren

I don't know what a "big hunk of it" means. But I do know where she wants a big hunk of it to go...to government central planners...large & small. She just said so.

Couple of problems:

1) Money is "free speech" according to the highest court in the land;

2) Only the wealthy oligarchs could afford to hang out in office.

And, sometimes it's not that a politician takes any contributions, but they cannot muster the power to battle a titan (go ahead and tell me how one could take down GS; I assure you that behind GS is all the other Big Boys since they're all doing the same thing- honor among thieves).  They'd put an end to you, either from direct threats on your life or by major smear campaigns (if there's anything that Party Pussies are good for its being called out as attack dogs).

What did Ron Paul "accomplish?"  Remember, Paul was pretty visible in his attack on the Fed, yet nothing happened.

From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Paul

Committee assignments

Paul served on the following committee and subcommittees.[57]

With the election of the 112th Congress, and a resulting GOP majority in the House, Paul became the chairman of the Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology starting in January 2011.[58]

Paul's congressional career ended on January 3, 2013 with the swearing in of the 113th Congress.

See the thing is, that when the banks bought and paid  for your government 100 times over through fraud, you really have no leverage to legally take them to court or punish them when they do wrong (which is often), and more or less when they DO get caught doing something wrong, they usually pay to have the law changed or to have the case thrown out so that no legal precedent is formed.

Its like the mafia took over town, the mafia owns the courts, the police, the banks and the local governments (especially in democratic states like New York).

You can't go appeal to the mafia to throw itself out of power and in - jail.

All that ends-up happening is, everyone in the mafia wants a share of "the take" which is where "settlements" come into play.

"hey JpMorgan, you guys made a killing on that MF Global job, give me my share, otherwise we are gona have problems"

;)

See the stupid public thinks that they have a "democracy", really what you have is a form of corporate gang-warfare, the different gangs (wall-street financial "institutions") are all in it for power.

They get a kick outa kicking grandma out of her house.

Also, you have to factor in that the UK / England in general are EMPIRES, you can't really have an EMPIRE as an ally , these people are monetarists (they perform acts of war through monetary policy between nations...... they weaken industrialized nations by manipulating the currency (through banks they own) (ALL THE TOP WALLSTREET BANKS ARE FOREIGN POWERS BRITISH OWNED); they are using the AMERICAN BANKING SYSTEM against the american people, to weaken the USA so that they present less of a threat to their empire later on.

You can never have a Monarchy as an ally , its just not the way Empires work, the entire point of an Empire is to position yourself as best as possible to "win" the next World War.

Britain is best positioned to win the next world war.

The problem is 98% of the world is playing checkers, while the British royalty/Banking cartels are playing chess in 5 dimensions.

"the entire point of an Empire is to position yourself as best as possible to "win" the next World War.

Britain is best positioned to win the next world war."

The entire point of an empire is to STAY AN EMPIRE.  Wars are utilized in order to "acquire" additional resources necessary to feed the perpetual growth of the empire.

So, yes, wars occur, but no, the empire isn't basing its existence on winning the next "World War."

As for Britain being positioned to win the next world war- are you serious?  Britain is energy-deficient; as such it's a total non-starter.  That London is a den of vipers doesn't assure that the vipers would stay there should things really ratchet up.

The Fed is far from the head, they are more like a Bishop or a rook in chess.

The Executive Branch is a pawn.

The Judicial Branch is Knight

Congress is on the level of expendable pawns (scapegoats)

The Media is there to alter the playing field (public) (strings of the puppet people).

The public aren't even at the level of pawns, the public is litterally the "playing field" to be exploited and positioned upon (shaping public perception to create a fog of war so no one sees the pieces moving).

The stock market is there to make it easy to transfer wealth from the 80% to the 0.01% and their minions (2%).

The stakeholders, whoever owns all the central banks and has the most shares and gets the most proceeds from their counterfeiting monopoly.

The Federal Reserve and other "central banks" do not disclose who their shareholders are, most think that they are the Rothschilds and such defending the monetarist British empire they formed in the victorian era.

You can't be too sure anymore who the "king" is, but if you were to "wage war" against them, your best bet is to take them down by taking down the most valuable pieces.

-Taking over the Fed, Other Central banks (gold standard) would be a silver bullet so long as they are not put in charge of managing the gold (they would steal it and cause a crash to force people back on paper fiat).

The gold standard was working GREAT until the Federal Reserve came in in the early 1900s (The major foothold the "king/kings" took in America), they stole the gold and printed more gold certificates than there was gold (fractional fraud banking); causing the system to fail.

They hate gold standards because its hard for them to create market bubbles when they can't print money and stuff it into assets to cause bubble frenzies, they use FIAT FRAUD and INSIDER DEALS to make themselves rich, its hard to do that with a rigid currency supply that they do not control.

honestly, if the Kings lose the game and their world falls apart, we will probably never arrest the "kings", because typically these kind of people can't take defeat and they would probably kill themselves before being discovered.

In order to take these people down... you would have to learn to play their chess.... and attack them where it hurts ..... their pockets.

Is there anyone out there smart enough to track these guys down and bankrupt them logistically?

The only way to deal with the Too Big To Fail crowd is to reverse the onus of proof. In other words, banks and executives will be presumed guilty and 90% of their personal assets frozen until they satisfy a JURY (not some paid off judge) that they in fact did not break any laws.

Yeah, what the hell, since we're disregarding the Constitution anyway.

Idiot.

The only way to deal with the TBTF crowd is to actually prosecute them in big, noisy, and yes, expensive trials.  When the Joe Sixpacks on the jury (who are probably completely unaware at this time of the extent of the fraud) get wind of what has been done to them, they will be eager to impose ginormous punitive damages, which will be far larger than any pitiful 1% fine that is imposed by the supposed regulators.  Our system of justice does actually work when it is not corrupted.

This is the only reason I would be happy to pay "my fair share" of the tax burden placed upon those of us who work:  To see the authors of this misery properly tried, found guilty, and placed in a 6x8 cell to be assraped every time they bend down to tie their shoes.

Recall, Warren is the one who instigated the CFPB, run by the FED, for the FED. CFPB is the FED's money police who want complete surveillance on where every dime of every citizen is located at all times. they will stop private lending between individuals and smash S&Ls, forcing everyone to the big banks.

She lost her bid to head up the CFPB by creating a complete shit storm trying to strongarm 36 State's Attorney Generals into giving up individuals private financial information -- before the CFPB was even open for business and she had any standing, or authority, to head it up! CFPB is run out of the FED without congressional oversight.

Also -- Alert: Ann Barnhardt, by way of Jim Sinclair's jsmineset says FDIC will now only consider 'aggregate' losses of $250,000 (as of Dec. 31, 2012) so won't help you if you have a million $USD in multiple accounts. FDIC has $5 billion and there are $10 trillion in accounts. Recall, BAC moved a trillion dollars worth of commercial trash onto the retail side of the ledger last year as Bernanke forced it over Sheila Bair's objections. Bair left FDIC after that.

It's the System!  And the System is failing not because of some recent set of activities.  It's failing because of its flawed design: reliant upon perpetual growth on a finite planet- this is why empires collapse, it's because they eventually fail to acquire sufficient resources in which to grow (end up resorting to tricks to make it look like they're still growing- the simple trick of devaluing currencies is one of the most popular ones).

if you took the 6 biggest banks to court for every offense you could charge relating to the collapse you might get 100 convictions. maybe. if you convicted every mortgage structuring team, risk officer, and rubber-stamp analyst that worked at the center of the crisis you'd still be short all of the politicians, central bankers, currency manipulators, CDS writers, mortgage brokers, appraisers, realtors, spivvy home buyers, speculating builders, and baby-boom-asset-manager yield jocks that drove this crisis. I’d love to hear a plan for taking that list of assclowns, plus the 100 fore mentioned bankers, to court.

Here's the plan - Maxiprocesso. Because of the huge backlog of cases as well as the RICO violations in many cases, the prosecution and the courtroom should be modified to process the mass trials in style of the Maxiprocesso (Maxi Trials) of the Mafia in Sicily during the 1980s that resulted in hundreds of defendants convicted.

I agree that prosecution should include the full range of perps, not just the bankers. It's just that the bankers are a good place to start prosecutions because some bankers will be more than willing to give up the perps above them (Congress, regulartors, public officials, etc.) and the perps below them (mortgage companies, Countrywides, etc.).

The passive aggressive game. Modenas you are a rookie!

You just don't know when to "tap out" I'll entertain your comment.

Che was a useless Castro douche that ran into the hills of South America and bought a FEW "RPG's" and corrupted a few  governments before he went native on Fidel.

   You're insulting your own intelligence!

Every cent I have was self earned Monedas. I value wealth because I know what it's like to have nothing! I'm not a trust fund baby. I earned every damn cent I have!

It was the same in the early 1930's until a government agency finally had to take out a major bank CEO. After that things straightened up real quick.

The settlements negotiated by regulatory authorities with the banksters who've committed fraud and God-knows what else, always looks to me like it's nothing more than the govt demanding its cut of the stolen loot.

You have to be fucking joking with this grandstanding bullshit.  This reminds me of the hearing in 2008 where Maxine Waters and the other House committee members were grilling Dimon, Pandit, Blankfein, and 5 other banking CEOs about their bonuses and stock options.  The CEOs were lambasted and hung their heads for the cameras like scolded puppies only to go shit on the carpet again and get a snausage.

They're just setting up the scapegoats for when the SHTF.  Until I see bankers being perp-walked I'm not buying any of this crap.

Who fkg cares?  Another fkg question at this late in the game is a waste of youtube disk space.

Warren and the rest of her politician friends are headed into a deflationary market no matter what they say or do.

It's too late.  Debts are too big and won't get repaid.

This is such baloney.

This is all about giving the *appearance* of being tough - wake me up when someone actually goes to jail.

She'll be reined in the minute she actually starts interfering with fundraising.
