President Obama To Sermonize On Unspeakable Sequester Evil - Live Webcast

Tyler Durden's picture

We suspect that if one combines all the most apocalyptic scenes from 'Day After Tomorrow', 'Armageddon', 'Planet of the Apes', and '2012', then President Obama's address (scheduled for 1045ET) on the impact of the sequester will come close. Of course, he could merely comment on the fact that we need to cut spending (not slow spending growth) in order to revert to sustainability but we suspect this is not 'silver linings playbook'. Young children and pets should probably be removed from the room as our leader explains just how cataclysmic things are going to get unless we all just get along... As a gentle reminder, here is the very same President threatening to veto any effort to stop spending cuts - oh well, it seems there really are no easy off-ramps.

As a reminder:

"I will veto any effort to get rid of the automatic spending cuts... No easy off-ramps on this one. We need to keep the pressure up to compromise. Not turn off the pressure. Only way the spending cuts will not take place is if congress gets back to work and agrees on a balanced plan to reduce the deficit by at least $1.2 trillion. That is what they need to do. That’s the job they promise to do"

- Barack Obama, November 21, 2011

Fast forward to....

With our economy poised to continue to strengthen this year, the President will make clear that we can’t see another self-inflicted wound from Washington. The President will urge Congress to come together and act to ensure these devastating cuts to defense and job-creating programs don’t take effect.

- White House statement, February 5, 2013

.... and

"The threat of massive automatic cuts have already started to affect business decisions.  Deep indiscriminate cuts to things like education and training, energy and national security, will cost us jobs and it will slow down our recovery.... It’s not the right thing to do for the economy, it’s not the right thing for folks who are out there still looking for work. And the good news is this doesn’t have to happen.... [Congress] should at least pass a smaller package of spending cuts and tax reforms that would delay the economically damaging effects of the sequester for a few more months until Congress finds a way to replace these cuts with a smarter solution.

- Barack Obama, February 5, 2013

Going back to Lucius Cornelius Sulla's comments.  Most of these press people own real estate in the DC area.  Their kids go to school, and they have friends in communities that would be directly affected by the sequester.  They are not disinterested reporters.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a Sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. ...Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and Grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

You know what I never hear, even here on ZH? What kind of criminal nature the POTUS has and uses in regards to every one these constant dividing conversations. Here and always, like the criminal he is, like a bank robber who throws a hostage in the window for all the cops who surround the building to see and shoot first, he uses these cardboard cut out americans to bribe, con and pursuade his way - EVEN WHEN THE "WAY" IS LEGISLATION HE HELPED WRITE, AND VOTED INTO LAW. I'm telling ya, this guy knows the depth of ignorance, the break down of morality our society has experienced since his coming - He chuckles to himself how easy it is to pull a fast one on those who ignorantly support him. He is EXACTLY what we deserve...A shameless tyrant who has taken from every citizen, selling it as protecting the middleclass, fearlessly defending every theft and loss of freedom by blaming anyone who opposes his immoral behavior by describing them as exactly what he is, while the media reiterates the same mantra for two months straight so to be sure it resonates as reasonable.

The Two-faced Teleprompter Tyrant was the idiot who proposed the sequester, and then signed it into law! Now he finds the godads to call it a an "unspeakable evil"?

What does it say about the politicians in Washington that have designated unconstitutional entitlements as "mandatory spending", while labeling our national defense, which IS constitutional, as "discretionary" spending!?

How is defending poppy fields in Afghanistan, oil fields in Iraq and sea lanes in the Persion Gulf "defending" America?  We need to go back to our roots where State militias are the primary defenders of America with the Federal government defending our territorial waters and borders.  They don't even do a good job of that while they are prowling the world defending the interests of global corporations.  The same corporations that have sourced most of their production in China and services in India.  Go USA!

"Deep indiscriminate cuts to things like education and training, energy and national security, will cost us jobs and it will slow down our recovery.... it’s not the right thing for folks who are out there still looking for work.  --Barack Obama

These key issues of Obama’s -- energy, national security, education -- are not only government but they are favored government. They are green energy; they are hiring more teachers; they are increasing the salaries of Federal employees.  IOW, they are public service unions. And the national security, of course, is the force to protect the fascism, the overseeing of the wealth transfer by restricting the resistance of the private sector.

Obama’s target for creating jobs, i.e., removing private sector jobs and transferring that value to the public sector, is a terrific lie. You can’t “create” jobs by taking away jobs from the private sector and giving them to government. This is the reason we have severe unemployment. What you are really doing is taking away production and giving it to wasters.

As for stimulus spending, welfare stimulus is socialism designed to build up government dependency and government power on the backs of taxpayers and wage earners.

Here’s one way it works: while visiting in a California tile company yesterday the owner said that he anticipated an improvement in sales for home remodeling when the tax refund checks begin coming in, i.e., the earned income tax credit which amounts to $5891 for every family with three or more qualifying children. This is called a tax “refund”  even if the worker’s tax liability is zero; all he has to do is file.

When three or more extended families live together, EITC assistance alone can bring in an additional $17,673 in household income. When extended families individually claim the same children or the neighbor’s children as their own, as has been done, tax time truly is bonanza time.

I have in the back of my alleged mind the echo of a belief that I once heard from a kindly, elderly, minority gentleman as we had a casual conversation in an elevator where he said, "If you fight, you lose".

Now my question that lingers with me still, "....what is the difference, for me, between fighing and resisting?" I hope that what I find myself moving towards, is that the difference being that with fighting, -physically, emotionally of mentally, I would be losing my energies to the already vastly superior energetic and negative force-fields currently dominating this planet, -politically and economically.

Where as, for me, to resist is to focus the attention of my energies upon those acts of seperation from all things that represent repression of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to me, and by extension to all those dear to me. For me and many like me, the best that I can do for those dear and near to me, is only to lead by example.

Thank you for allowing this forum where I can add my two-cents, and I hope that Cognitive Dissonance would agree with me, as he has been an example for me in many of his posts.

Two cents' worth multiplied by millions exponentially is a formidable sum.

When a government will no longer conform to the necessary limits that allow people to live together in peace, then that government must not be allowed to infringe on the liberties of those who want to live in peace.  And that might lead to violence, even to revolution. (Apologies to Louis L’Amour for the paraphrasing)

“They tell us, Sir, that we are weak, unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be next week? Will it be next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed and a guard stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Sir, we are not weak if we make proper use of those means which the God of nature has placed in our power.” –Patrick Henry

Wise man, vote with your feet when the time comes.  Your freedom is worth fighting for but their tyranny is not worth dying for.  Do as all our forebears did, vote for freedom, vote with your feet.  You have options other than confirming to the power hungry they have the excuse to put a bullet in your head.  So don't give them the excuse.

I know this is old news but you have to wonder if all the recent going ons at the Vatican is somehow related to this or just tinfoil hat stuff.

http://earthchanges.ning.com/profiles/blogs/look-at-who-has-slush-fund-a...

Slush fund accounts of major US politicians identified and seized at Vatican Bank (Rome). Connection established with Daniel Dal Bosco RICO indictment, which cites Giancarlo Bruno, Silvio Berlusconi & Ban Ki Moon.   On Wednesday 5th January 2011, it emerged that US establishment-related slush fund accounts had been located in, and seized from, the Vatican Bank in Rome.  The source of funds for these accounts in almost every instance was found to be the US Treasury.   Beneficiaries of the covert Vatican accounts include Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and each of the Obama children, Michelle Obama's mother, all the Bushes and the Clintons, including Chelsea Clinton, Joe Biden, Timothy Geithner, Janet Napolitano, several US Senators, including Mitch McConnell, several US Congressmen including John Boehner, several US Military Chiefs of Staff, the US Provost Marshal, the US Judge Advocate General, the US Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Roberts, several US Judges, the Pope, and several cardinals.   Big money was found in each of the accounts. The longer the beneficiaries have been in office, the greater the account balances were found to be. They range from a few million USD to more than a billion USD in the case of John Roberts. The total number of slush fund accounts so far identified at the Vatican Bank is said to be between 600 and 700. This number is likely to grow as international élite corruption investigations spread worldwide.   The disclosures have split the Roman Catholic Legatus organisation down the middle. Elizabeth Windsor (Queen Elizabeth II of England) is in the know and is intimately involved in the swirling and fissiparous covert power plays.

“They range from a few million USD to more than a billion USD in the case of John Roberts.”

And the fog clears surrounding Roberts’ decisive vote to approve the most significant piece of socialist/fascist legislation – Obamacare - ever passed by an American Congress – a Republican appointee siding with the Supreme Court's liberal voting block led by radical justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg.

Why? Follow the trail of the fascist money. “The source of funds for these accounts in almost every instance was found to be the US Treasury,” using the "Treasury" and the "church" as cover.

Many have questioned what caused Roberts to switch his vote at the last minute, in fact, so last minute that the conservative justices had to rewrite their majority opinion to be a minority dissent.

Blackmail is certainly not out of the question here, especially when it was the NY Times that was doing the probing into the status of his children’s adoption records.

Has the New York Times ever seen a socialist program it didn’t champion? It is the Times’  claim that the push for “democratic Marxism,” as the paper calls it, is responsible for creating a vibrant middle class in America with measures such as progressive taxation and a welfare safety net.  And it’s the Marxists who believe that the end justifies the means; that it takes a lot of crushed heads to make a collectivist human omelet.

So why not a little blackmail to push it along?

The sequester does not cut one real dollar of spending as any rational person would count it in 2013.

The sequester only cuts the rate of growth for future spending and nothing more. But the world is coming to an end because the taxpayer will not be forced to pour increasing amounts of money down the maul of the great spendthrift monster.
