The Men Who Built America: Remembering The Gilded Age Part 1

Tyler Durden's picture

It is perhaps time to look back at what once was. In Part 1 of the 4 part History Channel series, a new war begins as out of the turmoil of the Civil War, America enters an age of enlightenment that will change the landscape of the country forever. The growth is driven by five insightful men who will change the world forever. John D. Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford and J.P. Morgan rose from obscurity and in the process built modern America. Their names hang on street signs, are etched into buildings and are a part of the fabric of history. These men created the American Dream and were the engine of capitalism as they transformed everything they touched in building the oil, rail, steel, shipping, automobile and finance industries. Their paths crossed repeatedly as they elected presidents, set economic policies and influenced major events of the 50 most formative years this country has ever known. From the Civil War to the Great Depression and World War I, for better or worse, they led the way.

He died penniless, because he was a true discoverer ( according to his words ).  Ones he discovers an unknown natural electrical phenomena he vigorously developed and amazingly efficient machinery for using it.

When he developed the AC Electrical vibration transmission system, and won the 10-year-long battle with the amazingly inefficient DC (Edison) system, all the big financial interests were investing in the power distribution systems via wiring/cabling.

The "electrical power to the people" but through the wires owned by the Big boys ( and of course by plants owned by them too ).

J.P. Morgan basically burned his lab, with much of Tesla's work, in order to make Tesla come to him and ask for financing. This is how Tesla got to be dependent on Morgan.

After coming back from hist amazing 1-year-long Colorado Springs research term, in 5 years Tesla files 5 of, according his words, greatest achievement patents "that will benefit humanity immensely" associated with the "true wireless/cableless power transmission" - note that this is NOT transmission through the air but through the GROUND. The ground pays the role of a wire!

Of course, with this revolutionary totally NEW power transmission system, anyone heavily invested in the power transmission system using wires would have lost basically everything. So guess what happened. Morgan, the sponsor of Tesla's research, called back all of his money, and make sure that no one else helped the great(est) inventor.

More about the "True Wireless" ( cableless, a transfer of energy and signals through the ground ), a technically enlightened person can find out here:

And to add some bonus, to those of you with curious minds: think about who invented the transistor ... hit it is NOT Bell Labs.

"Dr. Moray developed a bi-polar semi-conductor as early as 1927, making a complete disclosure to Dr. Harvey Fletcher of the Bell Laboratories" :

"Dr. Fletcher later became head of the department at Bell Laboratories that developed the transistor."

He was a genius, but he was also a pussy. That's just a fact.
If he was more assertive, he would have been even more sucessful.

And everyone assumes that this "progress" these psychpaths brought is a good thing...

What if: There had never existed a psychopath like Morgan, Dimon or Blankfeind?

Without the "contributions" of JP Morgan, perhaps school kids would know that the father of modern electricity as we now know it was Nikola Tesla and not Thomas Edison.

just to be semantic the men who built america are the workers, the men who conned americans are the subject of this program

newengland's picture

The men and women who built America gave everything: their lives, money, land. One for all, all for one. Worker is the correct description for all of them, regardless of their social status or money. That is what makes America different from other places. It is a very great pity that historical revisionists have sold modern people the idea that the Republic is a democracy. It isn't.

Freedom is earned, not given. Community is earned, not given.

John D. Rockefeller made America great by absorbing his competition, co-opting the politicians, and breaking the barriers with monopoly.

If there had been no former restraints on monopoly in this nation, the passing years would have seen the Standard Oil Company move into ownership of every industry and every piece of private property in the United States.

John D’s idea was to own all the means of production, from crude oil to refined gasoline to the dispensing of gasoline at the pump – and all the transportation in between. He owned congressmen and he owned state legislators. And if they didn’t acquiesce to what he wanted, he punished them; and then he colluded with others to starve his competition out, using government as his weapon.

Capitalism may mean the private ownership of the means of production, but capitalism isn’t owning public officials.

And the benefits just kept coming for ol’ John D.

“John D. Rockefeller made his initial fortune in oil but soon gravitated into banking and finance.  His entry into the field was not welcomed by Morgan, and they became fierce competitors.  Eventually, they decided to minimize their competition by entering into joint ventures.  In the end, they worked together to create a national banking cartel called the Federal Reserve System.”  ~ G. Edward Griffin

Yep. The academic term for that is corporatism: the marriage of state and big commerce; called fascism by Mussolini - or socialism or communism by the Rothschild funded Bolshevik Revolution, and Zionists.

Interesting side note: corporatism was founded by the Catholic church when it sought to calm divisions, and forge a third way.

Interesting that Blair the Liar and latter day Catholic convert talked about a 'third way'.

The people vs the powerbrokers. This is what it is, as it ever was.

Hard to believe that we threw our boys into WWI after suffering through the civil war; that was a huge egregious waste of life and resources.  I see that as the beginning of the Military/Industrial complex pushing the U.S. into wars it should not be involved in.

The real end was 1913, the beginning of the income tax and the Federal Reserve.  From there came funding for excesses in Wall Street and Washington unrelated to the benefit of the common citizen.  The roaring 20's and the requisite backlash of social programs of the 1930's; both crippling the rewards to the individual for working hard, being responsible, and saving.

It's been a see-saw between these two paradigms of crony capitalism and entitlement socialism, rather than government getting the hell out of the way and not trying to benefit corporations or be the most inefficient chartiy in all of human history (government).

Things really haven't changed in the past 100 years, other than the collusion between these two paradigms to crush industry and thrift; all while pretending that there is a battle between the two and distracting generations from the real problem.

End the Fed.

End the foreign domination of the USA, the Republic, and ruin of the Constitution.

The gangsta bankstas and their political pets are out of control, and out of their minds. The people named in this article were collaborators (apart from Ford and maybe Carnegie ), not makers of the Republic: one for all, all for one; earned, not given.

Edward Fiatski's picture

I view the U.S. Income Tax as a well-designed remover of liquidity from a system, which could go horribly wrong & hyperinflate - its institution on the populace was necessary to install the FED in place and to leverage the money supply for the War like there's no tomorrow.

Gold? They knew Gold was a "barbarous relic" even back then. :) Multiply by x50 FTW.

"John D. Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford and J.P. Morgan"

Heros and patriots all. America needs men like this now more than ever. J.P. Morgan personally put his bank on the line, working with the treasury to get us out of the dark ages and the modern banking system we have today. Rockefeller employed hundreds of thousands and made America the industrial giant it is today. A proud part of our history!

newengland's picture

JP Morgan sank the Titanic, and his shills have hid it ever since. He was the man who booked the most expensive suite, and stood on the dockside as the ship sailed away...sinking his commericial rivals who opposed his support for the Federal Reserve Board founded in 1913, and the dollar has lost more than 95% of its purchasing power since then.

You are 'an educated fool' or 'useful idiot', as Lenin said.

The international financiers win. You lose. Idiot.

One of those rivals was wealthier, willing and able to support a great American whose invention would have provided electricity at negligible cost. That rival died gallantly, rather to see women and young people put in the few lifeboats available.

Edward Fiatski's picture

Correction: Olympic, not the Titanic. :-) An explosion below the waterline can do wonders to any vessel.

Is that a photo of Henry Kissinger on your avatar? Seriously?

newengland's picture

And apart from his Kissinger avatar, he has the bloody cheek to praise Rockefeller, the freak co-founder of the Trilateral Commission and Bilderberg Group which seeks a technocratic new world order and depopulation for its chosen few - those few bailed out by the many.

Fcking freaks. Jail 'em. Don't bail 'em.

I couldn't get past the 1st 5 mins of that History Channel tripe.....Yeh  Rockefeller and JP Morgan looked like Chippendale dancers....and Carnegie was really buff with a turned up nose, Vandeerbuilt....sooooooo manly throwin' that punch at the fat dweeb.

As soon as I saw Trump and (gag) Cramer ...I puked in my mouth and shut the thing off

If young people today get their "histereee" from this TVoid distortion...we are indeed raising a generation that would make the Fuhrer proud....everyone is sooooooo good looking in that California way.  How could they possibly do anything wrong.

good grief....Tyler.  what crap

I as ruler of the Universe shall have their names removed from history and thus the history channel be compelled to destroy, of their own accord, their propaganda documentaries.

alien-IQ's picture

My jaw damn near hit the floor when I saw ZH pimping a History channel "documentary"...and one about Rockefeller, Morgan et al? Fuck me running...

To believe that a corporate advertiser driven network is going to air an unbiased documentary about those "titans of industry" is not unlike believing that you can derive nutrition by connecting a tube from your ass to your mouth.

Tsunami Wave's picture

The History Channel either:

1.) Is not aware how how much theft they've committed, corruption & tinkering with our political system they've done, or how bad these men are.  They are most likely wowed by how powerful these people have become, and are profiling their wow-ness.

2.) They know & are aware of how much genicide, theft of the wealth of nations, and other bad things they've committed, and are willingly (or forcibly) talking about them anyway.

Most people have no idea who or what John D rockefeler, J.P. Morgan, Carnige, etc. have done.. remember.  The history books I remember reading years ago in High School oddly went into detail of who these people were and what they've done.  Funny enough, they were the ones that also had the most control of our education system, and had the textbooks changed (from their foundations, universities they've founded, laws passed, etc.) so they're mentioned in a positive light - and also erased the bad they've committed.

Yeah! One of my favorite series is now on the net! XD

The story of how 5 greedy BAMF MEN who turned America into the global superpower.

Even though they were greedy and destroyed democracy, they dominated over all the fucking pussies who didn't have the drive to create something for themselves.

Now we must do the same to elites, and take back liberty!

Has anyone here read "Our Crowd" ?

... "Our Crowd" : The Great Jewish Families of New York (Modern Jewish History)...

According to the book, it was the early German Jewish Community that really built America and allowed it to evolve.

Families like .... the Seligmans ( Dry Goods & Banking ) ... the Schiffs ( Railroads & Banking) ,  and many others.

Many of these families emigrated from Germany and started life as peddlers - i.e. with nothing.

The book goes into amazing detail ... at the end , around 1920, the era of these great families came to an end, when JP Morgan and Rockefeller took over the scene.
i.e. The good guys were long gone by then.

The connection to the Rothschilds  in London is also explained ... in detail.

Fascinating book ...   A must read !

newengland's picture

Great Jewish families arrived long before then. George Washington visited them in Rhode Island. They assisted the Republic; bear the goodness and wrongs of the Republic, the USA.

The New York jews you laud are less so. Certainly, their banks and allegiance to Zionism is anti-Amercan.

Dual passports are traitorous. A man cannot serve two masters.

Choose: American or Zionist.

aleph0's picture

..."arrived long before then."...

Do you mean 1920 ?

The book deals with the EARLY settlers and ENDS with 1920.

May I suggest you read the book first ?

Re: Rockefeller ...

The Last Word on Snake Oil

newengland's picture

Jews arrived in New England in the 1700s, and their money centered in Rhode Island funded great ships and trade for the nascent Republic.  I am fed up with revisionism. Zionism is a new thing, coming long after jews aided the Republic, and bear equal responsibility for our rights and wrongs.

In WWII, only American troops refused to give up their jewish comrades to Nazis. Think on that. Our land,, our blood, our money.
