Visualizing All The Silver In The World
The historical cumulative Gold-to-Silver production ratio is 1:10.7; the price ratio of Silver-to-Gold is currently around 1:50. Demonocracy enables us to visualize the 1.411 million tonnes of Silver that has been mined in history and compares that to the world government reserve holdings (and gold).

depends on qty you are buying
for 100-500 that's about right
for 500 or more, you should be getting 2.70-3.00 over spot
"Silver Lost throughout History: 634,199 Tonnes"
But no graphic for "Gold Rehypothecated, Siphoned-off, or Magically Transformed into Tungsten"?
Seems like that would be a big cube, too.
Too bad Demonoid got taken down. Loved that site.
The Fed and its FRNs will get taken down, too, when the eurosheeple realize the Bernankers "illegally downloaded" all their gold from the vaults.
Maybe then, with no more government funding for cronycops, Demonoid will go back online.
In my view, Demonoid is/was the post-millennial Library of Alexandria.
Check out KickAss Torrnents: http://kat.ph
I get all my downloads from there now.
The silver price is on its way to ZERO. Despite today's deadcat rebound, the down trend will continue next week. Silverbugs had better get prepared for next round of pesticide spray.
Meh. Troll.
It will then go to negative value, where anyone who owns physical silver will automatically owe money.
I wish it would go to zero. Then I would buy all the silver.
That's the rub. There won't be any, and that will be the case for at least a few hours before the spot (paper) price hits zero.
Awww shucks...
~~~
I was hopint that when the price went to negative (-$3.50 or below)... I could just walk int a local coin shop & they'd have to hand me over fiats for the difference...
Coin shops will be the new ATM's... Need $500 quick cash?.... Wait until the silver price drops to (-$4.50), walk into a coin shop & order a monster box...
that's where i see it
banksters will default on their paper. and why not? why not make all the money they can when they know they can default and not go to jail. i would do the same if i were banksters
When I was trying to get people to buy Silver at $4.35oz.; I used to tell them, well, the idea is to think a little about what's gonna happen in the near future; Sure the price has gone down a lot in the last ten years, but do you really think you're going to see the day when people stand on the street corner giving away free silver? Didn't do any good.
Was it really necessary to spell zero in all CAPS? Either way, we get your point and now know you're about as useful as Joe Biden on a hunting trip.
Better than old Dick Cheney the "shooter"...
You read my mind.
It's a big gulp zero. Can't get um in NYC
Does Silver Lost Thoughout History encompass boating accidents?
Brings 'being underwater' in a postion a whole new meaning...
Strange how since the beginning of 2013 pm's have been slammed while at the same time volume on VIXY increasing week after week and exploding this week. Does somebody know sumting ya think ?
http://fiatflaws.blogspot.com/
Well now we know exactly how much silver ZHers used to hold. 634,199 tonnes. Too bad it doesn't show a map of the lake it's on the bottom of.
THE lake???
Try multiple lakes all over the country!
Oh crap! I'm gonna have to work up a whole new plan then. That really complicates things.
BTFD!
Keep stacking my friends.
Phyzz in SLV ETF? Fri. night humor right there
yar, a distinction between real physical vs. the paper stuff would be useful.
Here's the Saturday humor
~~~
Jamie & Blythe are going to start a PAPER ETF market in bitcoins... Put together a campaign to market the idea to the mass public... Then naked short the everloving bejezzus out of it [whilst planting shills 24/7 on CNBC & Bloomberg that show the PRICE of bitcoins getting monkeyhammered on a daily basis]... Might even get Uncle Warren & Beck Quick in on the gig talking about how digital packets of bitcoins were getting tangled with kiddie porn on the digital interwebs & that if you use bitcoins, one day while your little angel was watching Barney & Romper Room, all of a sudden out of nowhere, they'd get a pop-up of Beaker butt-fucking Captain Kangaroo...
In 5...4...3...2... some tech geek is going to reply to this comment by saying... "that could NEVER happen because the encryption of bitcoin packets is fundamentally different than... blah blah blah"... Which would prove my point from a previous comment... [that at some point ~ the HUMAN 2 HUMAN interface has to occur & FAITH is an element in that]...
9/11 is a perfect example... Raise your hand if you think it is TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE that all the things that are contained in the 9/11 Commission Report actually happened [or were even capable of happening]... Nevertheless, we now have Patriot Acts, yellow ribbons, "We will never forget" bumper stickers, moments of silence at ballgames, NDAA's, & Constitutional re-configures, war upon war...
Whatever ~ makeup your own mind...
I'll actually give a <golf clap> to the first bitcoiner who comes on here and tells the story about how he spent $20 on 10 bitcoins when they were $2 & has recently cashed in 8 of them to buy a whole freezer full of 'HOTPOCKETS' which will get him through the next year of World of Warcraft binges... Until then ~ you all just sound like a bunch of RobotTrader or Leo K's pumping your Friday allowance money from Mom & Dad into Lululemon & Chinese Solars...
Comex Warehouse 3548.9 tonnes. ROTFLMFAO!
That's the weight of all the paper!
empty concrete and steel warehouses are still heavy
In reality I'm sure SLV and Comex scale better with the swiss army knife
My 6x4 safe is overflowing with Dollars, Halves, Quarters and dimes, maybe I should start buying Gold?
You must be an excellent boater...
I chose to get new safes.
Krugmanski? Yer building "Space Shuttle" tiles? Your Ilk fucked NASA into the deep weeds? Leftist (unlearn,ed) liberals have their places in the food chain.
I'm a libertarian, leaning right. I certainly understand art. feciously/facetiously, speaking< Just like the uneducated congress of the United States.
Here's a picture of all the BitCoins in exeistence:
careful-the bitcoiners throw out "troll" rather liberally if you don't agree with them. there has been a disturbing trend of these morons the last few days on ZH.
Yeah and someone who trolls BS about something without knowing what they're talking about is a genius in your opinion?
Answer the questions I posed above and spare everyone the irrelevant, diversionary rhetoric. Go ahead, answer the questions, they're easy if you have absolutely any idea what you're talking about with regards to Bitcoin.
Even XenoFrog has more informed, intelligent things to say about Bitcoin which makes for some good humor incidently.
Bitcoin transactions have to flow over the internet to be validated. The NSA and your ISP are both perfectly capable of stopping the flow of Bitcoin related packets (deep packet inspection ring any bells?). Not to mention the fact that something along the lines of a Carrington event or a good EMP would render your computer, along with your Bitcoins, extinct. If you can't hold it in your hand, you don't own it. And if the Feds really wanted to fuck with you, they'd just plant a little kiddie porn here and there on your computer and have the swat boys pay you a visit to confiscate all your electronics.
Bitcoin is certainly not more secure than owning physical, and probably less so. A hard drive failure or a power surge during a backup, or a good comptuer virus can wipe them out. Not so physical PMs.
Holy fuck, yes, the government could do anything it wants. No shit! Look what they're doing to the entire U.S. and a number of foreign entities of absolutely no threat or offense to the said U.S. right now. Anything could happen and it is but they haven't assaulted any fucking Bitcoin yet have they?
There's a heavy air of shill on ZH when anything relating to BTC is mentioned and that is not only telling but educational.
"Bitcoin is certainly not more secure than owning physical, and probably less so."
Well that's highly dependent on circumstances.
"A hard drive failure or a power surge during a backup, or a good comptuer virus can wipe them out."
Not if one is careful and well-informed but sure the odd accident probably happens. One can store gold in their mailbox on the porch or they can safely store it elsewhere. The same extremes also exist with handling BTC. I don't have much but I have 5 digital back-ups on different media in different places and a 2 paper wallets, one with me and one with a person of trust. The world would pretty much have to end for me to lose a few thousand bucks. People with very large holding are much more careful by now and very well informed.
"Not so physical PMs."
Some posters here make it sound like you think people are trying to replace holdings of things like precious metals with Bitcoin. That's just nuts.
Homey don't play bitchcoin.
Ass, grass, or gas.....we don't take bitcoins.
Interesting the large amount of vitriol about bitcoin on ZH. All in all I think it's a good idea. I have no real need for bitcoin, but to each their own.
I don't view bitcoins much differently than holding any other sort of relatively safe currency (e.g. Singapore dollars). I sure wouldn't want to keep a lot of wealth in it, but it does seem rather handy for those transactions that you want to keep, uhhh, private.
I feel the same way about BTC. Better than fiat but anything electronic is bound to be under constant attack by hackers, especially if it's untraceable currency.
Safer to use Tide as currency than bitcoin. At your local market no one is going to accept bitcoin as money if there are any significant national financial problems. Tide you can touch, smells, use, see, trade. Bitcoins may or may not exist at some point. Money and currency have the advantage that even a retard knows what it is. Bitcoin not so much. Ifs you got your money, your currency, things of intrinsic value stored away and want to play with Bitcoin as a gamble that's great, but counting on bitcoin as a stable currency is nuts. I don't understand and have not yet read anything that supports bitcoin as anything other than a gamble, novelty or quirkly IT-hipster fad. If I really believed in bitcoin I would have backed up the truck last time it crashed instead of posting about how fucking great it is. If I beleivd in PMs I would have bought it and kepth quiet, stocks, bonds, ETFs, IRAs, bullets, beans, butter the same.
"Ifs you got your money, your currency, things of intrinsic value stored away and want to play with Bitcoin as a gamble that's great, but counting on Bitcoin as a stable currency is nuts."
What makes anyone, ANYONE of the Bitcoin detractors think that that is not the case for many people that are involved in Bitcoin and give one, just ONE reference to anyone talking about BTC on ZH claiming it is a stable currency.
Go ahead...
...yeah, that's what I thought.
Safer to use Tide as a currency... You truly are a drooling fucking tool.
I don't believe sensible, rational, objective comments have any place in Bitcoin discussions on ZH as a rule... ;)
If an EMP happens I'll have more to worry about than about any form of money.
I wouldn't be carrying my silver around then as well. I'd rather have a can of beans in my bag than 20 one ounce coins.
Damn it, it just dropped my bitcoin wallet in the toilet as the turds were swirling down. Why did I have all my imaginary money on one heavily encrypted flash drive?
One would have to be a bit of an idiot to have one copy of your wallet on a flash drive and drop it in the toilet... Oh, wait...
what kind of an idiot would i have to be to buy bitcoin?
You're already an idiot, you don't have to be knighted twice, you're there. Stay well away from Bitcoin. I'll be one of the last people to assault anyone with ridiculous assertions and reasons to buy them unlike many people on ZH that will say almost anything to disuade anyone from even considering it despite the fact it's outperformed every
"investment class" over the last number of months.
Echos of the people calling for the end of gold's bull market and bellowing the top in gold for the last decade plus are just ringing through these Bitcoin discussions, it's quite astounding.
Good humor.
"101010100110101"
And it weighs 0.0 tons and when the SHTF you can take your bit coin account down to the market and buy/barter nuttin.
AD&D taught me a long time ago. 1 gp equals 10 sp.
And one platinum = 5 gold
Thank God I bought 200 oz. on the dip last weekend.
Bought more silver today. I'm over 1,100 troy ounces of Ag, seven troy ounces of Au and one troy ounce of platinum. Both coin shops in my area were out of silver eagles. Those are my favourite; although the pandas look nice, but I haven't come across any yet.
Can I come over for a visit?
Yes you can. As long as you bring some scuba gear as most of it is at the bottom of loon lake. I'd love to retrieve my booty and your asistance would be greatly appreciated. I really need to stop going on these stupid pirate adventures, especially when completely shit-faced.
You do have gear and training right??
https://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&q=loon+lake+bc&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x54...
Also, do you have some sort of metal detector that can detect through water? Not sure exactly where it is, but if your detector is strong enough, and I get as drunk as I was, and in a similar setting as when my pirate chest slipped off my boat, I should be able to recollect an approximate location.
Hit the button twice (too much beer).
The first post is the one I would delete. OPSEC, my fellow bitch!
I did the same thing in Kootenay lake... somewhere around Argenta. (True story).
That was a good flick. No one knows how much the world is worth? I'll play poker with anyone that thinks they do! The subduction zones of Earth generate more energy then 10x10x10of my great Grandmothers lifetimes every second!
so.... how big is the 'hole', the negative space occupied by the COMEX short position? - and how big is Blythe's share of that void?
What a round about way of saying she has a large vagina. Everyone is short that position.
Or like commodities ran a train on her or was it the other way around...?
Hell, I was buying at $6 and I was buying at $15 and dad gummit I'm gonna buy at $30!
And no sidewindin', bushwhackin', hornswogglin' cracker croaker is gonna ruin my biscuit-cutter!
I'm glad the children were here to hear all of that
I think Estimated Private Bullion should be represented in cut-away, underground, using PVC pipe.
never store silver in PVC not a good result.
I didn't mean naked.
Current ratio - silver in existence (777,275) to gold mined (166500) is only 4.66 to 1?
and all silver (1411475) to gold mined (166500) is 8.477 to 1........ what happened to that historical ratio of 15 to 1?
something isn't making sense here.....
All accounting on earth has been screwed. None of it will ever add up. That is the real problem with the e-CON-omy.
Ben would disagree. To him, everything adds up just fine.
Lead, copper and brass have been the more in-demand metals in recent months...
Listing brass is redundant. Brass is an alloy consisting mostly of copper.
True but it is a seperate metal with a seperate application. It's also worth much less in most cases becasue it's an alloy
US Silver Eagles Minted: 7,477,800,800 grams
Divided by 300 million = 24.926 grams.
One troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams.
There isn't one ASE for each American?
I saw once that there are one, perhaps two surviving Morgan dollars for each American.
I'm not even an American and have two ASE's :)
There are a lot of hogs around here then. A couple of monster boxes here and there. Someone stumbling onto ZH might get a little envious...
Luckily I have exactly one ASE and exactly two Morgans. You can trust me on that one. I believe in Obama's socialism of fairness for everyone. Those receipts for others? I gave those to homeless people in order to be equitable. Trust me.
You forgot the 16,000,000,000,000,000 tons being traded on the COMEX daily.
Is 3.50 over spot a good price for 2013 silver eagles? I don't know! Otto I am in western suburb of Chicago and bought some today at that price so I was just checking. There is a big river between the LCS and home though.
Is 3.50 over spot a good price for 2013 silver eagles? I don't know! Otto I am in western suburb of Chicago and bought some today at that price so I was just checking. There is a big river between the LCS and home though.
Yep. Been paying 5.00 over on the south side
Tulving ... $2.59, delivered
*500 coin minimum
Deerhunter, make sure your stash doesn't sink crossing that river, seems silver's attracted to water.!
Yes for small amounts.
Hey , I just bought some more silver bullion bars. I paid 1.5% over the spot close. I Got fucked based on your guys prices. I paid 3%!
YUMADBRO?
I'm good at acronyms. You are jumbalaya! I BOUGHT 200 toz. The deal is vaulted. YUMADBRO?
i'm picking up 200 oz. tomorrow myself! so take that!
I'll believe it when I see it! I'll send my delivery reciept over to you on Tuesday. ( Expected delivery) I think you are a bull shitting punk!
Silver chart fuk wad! http://www.kitco.com/charts/livesilver.html I would never give you my EBS access.
i kinda question the etf slv and comex, er.., crimex inventories; it's probably more like a stash of silver iou's
you new here?
You like "slv/etf" Join the idiots! http://www.pimco.com/EN/Solutions/Pages/FX.aspx
Silver is too heavy, too bulky. Just $100k in silver would weigh well over 200 pounds. That much weight would severely limit mobility and agility in any number of scenarios. Hell, might as well have real estate. There must be a better way.
You are an idiot! Look at the atomic weight of XAU!
For the price of 10 kg of silver you can buy nearly 6 ounces of gold.
If you had to leave your house in a pinch would you rather be carrying 10 kg of silver in your pocket than 6 gold eagles?
Both have their purposes. Try getting change for an ounce of gold when buying a loaf of bread...
Why the fuck do I need to be mobile? We take souls to hell with us.
Good luck with that.
Don't need any fucking luck cock sucker. Luck is for pussies.
An approximately 1/5 above ground tonnage relationship between Au/Ag.
What, does relative chemical activity explain the current G/S ratio?
That's an awful info-graphic. Why is there a stack of $100,000 in the first frame, then what looks like $200 in the second? Why are there piles of cash and a couch made out of cash? The graphic makes it look like the world is full of silver, not running out. And why the fuck would you even show blocks of gold if the graphic is supposed to be about silver? The images are nice, but concept sucks.
They should've added a block of shitty art, and put this one right on top.
All items that aren't the primary focus of the graphic are to provide scale or reference.
Why would someone show gold when talking about silver, dude? to show relative density, compare price vs size. conceptualize how truly rare both metals are.
Compare it to something bigger than silver: copper, nickel, NY whores. Don't put a smaller scale next to it. The way they set up the scaling makes it look like there's a shit load of silver.
get out of the ring hulkster, you are out of bounds here....
sure silver way more valuable than irreplaceable art .
If we divided up all of the world's Silver inventories into equal shares for everybody on the planet instead of being greedy like we are doing it we would only get about a dime's worth each.
I bought 200 Troy ounces of physical silver. Is there any confusion> I paid 3% over spot and got hosed!
Now ! Fuck you very nicely! ( I need a smaller boat)
Rather have the 200 ounces than the 6,000 in fiat it took to get it. You will be happy you did this a year from now...
Up to 215 OZ myself.........SO FAR!
I knew some assclown would call me out. Closing spot price is (xag) 28.559X3% =n closing costs just under $400 usd. I'm storing the metal so it's dollar cost averaged starting next month.
You meat balls will love this juxtapost! http://www.pimco.com/EN/Solutions/Pages/FX.aspx
And you thought I was kidding! Cyclone season is ending soon in Queensland. Then I can refocus!

I'm all in as soon as the cyclones fade.
Fuck PIMCO and all other FX whores and bankers that rape and pillage by fiat...
The piles of gold and silver are in the same order
of the size of a house.
The piles of cash and derivates are as big as
multiple skyscrapers as I remembered from
another post.
Bankrun overdue,only question when.
I think the ETF Cube and tonnage can be discounted as NOT real.
So where do they keep these giant cubes of silver? In a mountain or somethin?
you keep watching that door while i have those cuba libres in playa del carmen..

Ahhhh. Remember the good old days when Tyler wouldn't even mention silver? I do. Now he's trying to catch up to the bitcoin tidal wave that is about to overwhelm him. Funny thing about free speech; those whose ignore or deride good ideas start to become increasingly irrelevant. Silver and bitcoin are the crucifix and holy water of the banksters and their minions the statists. Too bad their demise was set in stone many years ago. Zimmerman provided the key, J Orlin Grabbe told us how to use it, and Toshi turned it. Let the ignorant remain ignorant. The bankers days are numbered and they know it.
The End of Ordinary Money
Silver For The People
The Bitcoin Channel
I traded 70 oz of silver for 70 btc just before bitcoin hit parity with silver. One of the best trades, if a small one, I ever made.
Have right at it and help yourself to my share of bit"coin". I will take a physical variety every time. And not that the Tyler(s) need any defense but I have been reading this blog since it was on blogspot and you didnt need a username to post. You are full of shit sir. Where do you think I learned to stack when the shiny was $11+/- you asshat? What I do remember is thanking him for the opportunity to learn and prepare for what was coming. Financially and as as father of two. I say him because at that time there was a distinct one man show feel. I still dig this place like no other online.... but have to ask wtf is simon's gold piece doing as the "top" story when we have a filibuster going on?
did u hear the sinlair talk on king.
l have worked on a few desks in my time.
listen to him. he has done a bridge to far at the top
whow
Yup. This morning. He knows a thing or two.
Nice way to turn $28.68 worth of silver into $89.50.
I wouldn't brag about the connection to NWT Mint, they have a very bad reputation with silver bugs.
Good luck with the high prices.
Silver. Got some, bitchez?
Pura plata, baby!
Plata = Silver
Plata = Money
I love learning Spanish.
the word kesef in hebrew be both money and silver.
How did they know my goal is to have a silver sofa one day? See Warren, you're wrong. PM's do have practical applications.
I am dreaming of a gold toilet
These visual charts are the best thing to hit the internet since YouPorn.
I didn't see the paper silver in the infographic? LOL!
It was there, just graphically depicted as actual silver under "World Silver Reserves" - "Silver ETF SLV".
that wasnt blyth sitting on that couch
Ha - but the real thing will be worth more in short time.
Under Grover Cleveland we had a bi-metal standard with gold and silver, and it was an utter disaster. The bankers would manipulate the metals, and by doing so they contributed to the Panic of 1893. I always liked the idea of "competing currencies", which Ron Paul used to talk about, but now he is back in support of a Gold Standard.
So, what is it? Should we have a “Gold Standard”? A “Silver Standard”? A “Bi-metal Standard”? Or, should we have “Competing Currencies”?
lol, I want to know what formula they used to predict how much silver is percieve to have been lost. The metals have been exchanged and used for so long, I can't imagine where to start in tracking lost gold and silver. They didn't report shit to anyone back then, where did that tally come from? And even ifthey did, the leaders back then were just as corrupt, so alot of big "shipments" lost were most likely off the books for kings, rulers, whatever the fuck they are anyways..
Would looking for said lost silver (shipwrecks, etc) prove to be profitable beyond production costs to mine new silver? Hmm.. thinking out loud..
Majority of it has been lost to industrial use, just poofed away. . . . .
Indeed, at 500 ozt per unit, think of all the vaporized silver upon detonation of a tomahawk missile.
How can it be lost when matter does not disappear except in a nuclear reaction.
Why not go prospecting for it?
RC, I invite you to find the pieces. Perhaps you could heap-leach the blast sites.
Maybe you'll get lucky and the US govt will send you some silver.
