“Wanted” Signs Emerge in Oakland as Residents Police Themselves

So this is what is happening in Oakland, one of the many forgotten about, left-behind corners of America.  From CBS:

OAKLAND (KPIX 5) – Oakland’s crime problems have gotten so bad that some people aren’t even bothering to call the cops anymore; instead, they’re trying to solve and prevent crimes themselves.

In a neighborhood that has started to feel like the wild west, people have even started posting “wanted” signs.

Personally, I think this is the only “Wanted” sign that people should be putting up all over America.

Bernank Wanted Sign

You have to walk around in your house with a gun to feel safe here,” said Alaska Tarvins of the Arcadia Park Board of Directors.

Over the weekend, one home was burglarized twice in a 24 hour period, once while a resident’s nephew was inside.

Now, Arcadia park neighbors are taking the detective work into their own hands.

KPIX 5 found a woman who identified herself as L.E. patrolling her neighborhood by car. She said she recently chased down a couple of robbers herself.

While the macro problems that have led to this are deplorable, there is one silver lining.  The crime crisis is forcing neighbors to get to know each other and come to solutions on their own within their community.  Since we all know by now the bureaucracy will not be coming to the rescue, the sooner we figure out solutions on our own the better.

Welcome to the recovery!

"There are going to be situations where people are going to go without assistance.  That's just the facts of life."  - Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl Gates

Read this...

Fear we are returning to a time in history where it is a common occurrence to fight for one's life?

If you live in California where you are restricted to 10 round magazines, then maybe you should move.

And this...

When you are suddenly surrounded by violence and killing, it’s too late to train.

When your test comes suddenly and violently you will know who, and what, you are at that millisecond.  You will understand what is happening is real and you will be glad that you are there to protect your family and save others and gloriously you will act with skill, ability, and confidence.  Or you will doubt your ability, be overcome by fear, of no help to yourself or others...a sheep.

If you are a crack shot then ten rounds should be sufficient.

The answer to the 10-round limit is the Taurus Judge: A 5-round revolver of self-defense .410 guage shotgun shells packed with a combination of copper plates and 6-shot (Shot size typically used for duck hunting).

Guaranteed to stop an intruder cold, delivering the power of a shotgun blast with the margin of error allowance that 6-shot gives the defender. Goes in with a lipstick-diameter, and out like a softball, with multiple servering of veins, artieries, lungs, and heart muscle, caused by the 6-shot.

Penetrates bone easily, and the combination of plates and shot cause tremendous internal circulatory trauma; hit any part of the heart and there will never be another intrusion by the perp.

Comes in chrome, gun metal blue, and pink for those who want to raise awareness of breast cancer.

I highly recommend it.

@ MarsInScorpio:

Dude, you really need to educate yourself.

The Taurus Judge is a gimmick marketed to low-information  folks like yourself who have little or no understanding of reality.

Copper plates? WTF??

otto skorzeny's picture

Taurus is Brazilian for "garbage"-"Honey don't forget to take out the Taurus-it's Taurus day today". Glock 22-when the shit's gotta be done right.

Rogue Trooper's picture

Agreed... but it was an amusing post by @MarsInScorpio.

I, for one, prefer to rely on my M1A should such a 'situation' occur.

A bit of cold steel, a Machete, for final 'back up'.

... one could go on but its laboring the point somewhat.

Just do what Joe Biden tells his wife, Jill to do… get the trusty double barrel shotgun and shoot..

(And she’ll probably wing an armed secret service agent.)

stick with this.. it's worth watching  :-)

we shoot to kill in detroit, everyone is sick of these terrorist niggers.

not letting these fucks walk away is now our civic duty.

Don't forget all the spineless white faggots of finance in pinstripes.

They steal twice as much through their fraud-fiat than the blacks all put together.

+1000... I could not stop laughing and I have seen this shit so many time with folks that have no idea about firearms.

Had the same problem teaching folks to shoot a 308 vs 223 ;)

uncle_vito's picture

Agreed.  Taurus is a gimmick.   No one was ever killed with a .410.  Good only for birds.   Taurus not available in Calif either.  Not sure why.   Perhaps considered a short barrel shotgun.

Borrow owl - and the rest of you who know zip point nothing about the Taurus Judge Public Defender, so YOU can educate YOURSELF:

Ok, professor, let's go to a first-tier authority about this gun: The American Rifleman review by Willey Clapp, which he says is, "a small-game gun in survival situations and—probably most significantly—a defensive revolver with decisive terminal ballistics" -

The Judge Rules

The Taurus Judge redefined the defensive handgun, delivering the devastating payload of a .410 shotgun shell out of a hand-held platform.

"In my view, the Judge’s greatest utility comes as a defensive revolver. I thought that before the 3" version was available, and my opinion was reinforced with the availability of the longer gun. A long Judge will chamber a 000 load that delivers five pellets. At 70 grs., that would total 350 grs. of payload averaging 808 f.p.s. from the Judge’s short snout. That equates to 508 ft.-lbs of energy. A single hit from a standard 230-gr. .45 ACP load is about 370 ft.-lbs. Also a centered hit from the five 000 pellets would impact over a larger area and produce five individual wound channels. I fired a series of four targets with this load at short combat distances (3,5,7 and 9 yds.) and got increasingly larger groups of about 3", 6", 7" and 12", respectively. Beyond 9 to 10 yds., the groups opened up abruptly, and I often lost one of more pellets off the silhouette laterally. At close range, a single centered hit from the Judge (with 000) would be devastating. For longer ranges, the revolver cylinder offers the interesting possibility of pattern loading. You might try the first three chambers with 000 buckshot and the last two with .45 Colt lead semi-wadcutter hollow-points in the event that a target appears at a greater range.

"There is flexibility inherent in a revolver design and, in my estimation, the Judge is the most versatile combat revolver since the LeMat of the Civil War era. It’s a load to carry and a handful to shoot, but the Judge is a powerful solution to the defense gun needs of many shooters."

If you're willing to bet your life on advertising hype, well...that's your choice I suppose.

The fact is that the Judge (and its clones) are a compromise (.45LC /.410) which results in piss-poor performance with either cartridge.

At ranges of less than 7yds it's probably better than nothing, but there are dozens of *much* better options out there.

A link to a bit more objective evaluation of the Judge with various ammo than the one you provided:

aerojet's picture

Seriously?  The .410 shotgun has never had much of a reputation as a man-stopper and there is no magic load that is going to fix that.  Better to buy a .357 Magnum if you want a revolver.  But not aTaurus--I had one of those awful POS and the cylinder would routinely jam when the ejector rode unscrewed itself.

PowerzThatB's picture

Just a quick point; one can load .410 slugs. Just saying...

unrulian's picture

why are you guys junking Owl? he's correct, Taurus is garbage and who uses #6 for ducks? i assure you that if you use #6 steel you wont ruffle a feather over 25 yards and if it's lead it's still kinda small and lead is outlawed in most states (if not all) and Canada for waterfowl. Simply use a 12 Gauge with any shell (half the price of 410) or hand-gun for home defence why waste money on a gimmick Taurus Judge and...agreed, copper plates: WTF?

MachoMan's picture

#6 would work fine for close in green timber work...  for fields, it's 10 gauge only...  (noticeably better than a 12 gauge 3.5")

Why not let Diane Frankenstein and the "pelosi" walk around the city of Oakland at night with a little bling around her neck.  One of two things will happen.  She will either change her stance on firearms or....well we can all guess the other.

Go unscrew one and measure it now, friends.  It will take less than one minute.

If they are less than 3 inches, or you do not have a good deadbolt, then you have a one-kick-door.

We will see how you do when a couple vans loaded with bad hombres pull into your driveway, crack shot, and a moment later are all in your home with guns to your head.

We need to have our mind, body, and equipment ready at all times. We all need to work together to create an environment that is hostile to bad guys.

Don't EVER open the door for strangers.  Always keep your doors locked, install door jamb armor with 3-1/2 stainless screws, always use the intercom when someone rings, always carry a weapon, and get the training and find the will to use it.

Ya know Mr H H, most people have never seen real blood in the streets, or people being shot and killed right in front of them. Most of this nation has never seen a friend die in their arms and not be able to do a darn thing about it. Death is not real to the hollywood generation. This nation lives in a TV box of unreality that has them convinced that real bleeding and dying does not happen, so there is no imperative need to actually get off their game playing arses to DO something to stop the certain socialfascist beasts of death that are coming to knock down everyone's door like these criminals do in this video. The difference will be, tyranny will come in a uniform and in massive overwhelming numbers.

A big huge shout out of appreciation to all the veterans who went to war for the banksters profits and to defend the rapidly eroding freedoms of Old America.

The difference will be, tyranny will come in a uniform and in massive overwhelming numbers.

If so, better to have thought about the possibility and be able to recognize it, and accept it as reality, early.

If the shit hits the fan then the cops and the military have no plans to be in the inner cities...there aren't enough of them and they know it. Now ask yourself where the safest place in downtown LA was during the Rodney King riots, and why. It was Korea town because every other building had 3 guys on the roof with AR15's and plenty of ammo and real magazines. Remember large numbers of organized people with overwhelming firepower is a huge deterrent...ask the Marines.

Bingo.  People are intuitively catching on to something...  And this is the only way it could occur because there's too much interference to come to the realization consciously.

Panafrican Funktron Robot's picture

One thing that immediately came to mind when watching that video was, "Holy hell, did that dude ever need to take just a basic self defense class that includes weapon disarm training".

Ie., don't rely on having and shooting a gun to save your ass.  I know HH detailed this in his SHTF plan, but I notice this is often ignored.  Also note that good martial arts training is essential for spec ops offense in addition to defense.

In answer to your question, Yes but only if what you mean by "welt" is a sucking chest wound.

The 'proper techique' guys are kind of Jeff Cooper to me.  No front line experience.  Lots of talk about what works.  What works is to get low and pour lead, or leave.  Or call for some gunships.

And if you're a sixty-three year old grandma with a bad hip, a fake knee, and arthritis who can't afford a box of ammo a month for practice, you deserve to fucking die!

Panafrican Funktron Robot's picture

There are plenty of small/easy to use guns that can cause enough damage/shock to get an attacker to GTFO.  Consider, if you break into a place, see a grandma, and she pulls a gun and starts wildly blasting, you are going to exit immediately and never come back.  You are additionally probably going to tell the people associated with you, "yeah, lets maybe never go there again".

See how that works?  Not that hard to comprehend.

jumbo maverick's picture

You most likely have never been in a high stress situation. The more rounds you have readily at hand the more at ease you feel.

None of what is coming down the pike is good. But when it comes will you be ready?

GMadScientist's picture

Aircrew who preferred the M6 noted that, with the AR-5, an excited user can go through a week’s worth of ammunition in moments, while the user of the M6 is more likely to use proper shooting techniques due to the time necessary to reload after each shot.

Ropingdown's picture

There isn't time for proper technique.  There's time to get behind cover and shoot over the barrier.  That's what the f'g pistol grips are for.

Rogue Trooper's picture

Ropinddown...don't waste your time with logic and reason.  This uberwank is a complete statist 'tool'.
