Mars/Uranus Conjunction

Mars will conjunct Uranus on March 22, 2013 and the Sun will conjunct Uranus on March 28, 2013.  These dates, and a period of about one week on either side, should be watched for the following types of events:  Earthquakes, accidents, sudden flare ups of violence and aggressive political interactions.  These events may be more likely in the following locations.  China (in any case China is likely to have a significant earthquake in the next twelve months), Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and, to a lesser extent,  Japan.  This period is not the only period that is earthquake prone this year, but is one of several potential trigger points.

The Mars/Ketu Conjunction

May 12, 2013

Mars and Ketu will conjunct on May 12, 2013.  This is an incendiary combination that may catalyze violence, especially terrorist activities on or around May 12, allowing about two weeks on either side of the conjunction.   This conjunction may affect Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and North Korea in a more pronounced way, so violent events or aggressive politics in these countries,  or from these countries towards other countries, are a distinct possibility around that time.

Mercury Retrograde

February 23 - March 17

As March begins, Mars and retrograde Mercury will be in a conjunction in Aquarius.  This conjunction has been a difficult one for communications and has been stimulating unrest and violence worldwide for the past month. Mercury will continue its retrograde phase for a few weeks, turning direct on March 17th. This period is good for refining and perfecting anything related to language or information, although it is also a good time to continue to take care in communications.

In general, Mercury’s retrograde period is not a great time to begin new projects, make big purchases, or to plan important events.  Mercury rules over communication and information.  When it retrogrades, information and communication seem to become complicated and problematic.  Mercury’s retrograde period is good, however, for refining and perfecting information and communications.  For example, it is a good time to edit something that you have already written, but it is not so good for writing something new.  It is a good time for working on your ability to communicate, but it is not so good for new events that are communication-intensive.  Since almost everything is related to communication in some way, Mercury’s retrograde period is generally a good time to avoid taking big new directions.

From March 4 -31 Mercury will be in Shatabhisha Nakshatra. During  part of this period (March 4-17) Mercury will be retrograde, and then after the 17th it will be direct in Shatabhisha.  Shatabhisha is a nakshatra related to health.  The shakti of this nakshatra is the power of healing.   The name, Shatabhisha, means 100 physicians or 100 medicines in sanskrit.  So this is a good time to work on your health.  Since Mercury is related to information, communication  and mental activity, this is a good time to seek information or for doing research on health related matters.  For example, this is a great time to read a book about an alternative healing modality or a new diet or exercise program.  It is also a great time for getting back to health routines if your routines have slipped.
