The solution is so simple that mediocrities miss it.
The state issues money directly (not as debt) to finance infrastructure projects that employ citizens and enable future economic growth.
As long as the money printing is limited to the growth rate of the economy, prices will remain stable.
It is the doctrine of Ezra Pound and other dissenters back in the 1930's and 1940's.
The problem is how to upend the political system to abandon its present sources of campaign cash.
The deeper problem is that money is backed by murder.
There are no solutions but to muddle through that madness.

FYI... generally 'freedom' and 'informed' go hand in hand. In America's case, sad to say, it does not. In all my global travels, I know of no other place where the "belief business" is so widespread and populous. Even the smallest of towns have more of these "belief business" than you can shake a stick at. Grillo correctly identifies the corruptness of the system but let's be honest and admit that his popularity is based on his attacks against the status quo and that if he was in government he would not be able to deliver nirvana to the masses.
The system has become unworkable, the masses are demanding more breadand circuses and the puppet masters have divorced themselves from reality by believing that their monetary alchemy can stop the system fom going up in flames eventually.
Grillo will have more than served his purpose if he can get Italy to depart from the Euro, default on a large portion of the debt and bring an end to the dysfunctional Eurozone.
I think Grillo would settle for, as would I, destroying the unjust nirvana of the ruling, banker class. When units of exchange are based on tangible resources, to which everyone must adhere, that is a start. The initial "pain" is well worth that solid foundation.
I agree with your concept of units of exchange based on tangible assets but the problem we all have to confront is that the state has made promises to feed the expectant mouths of the masses well into the future depite being broke.
In other words there are no tangible assets backing future obligations.

If people don't understand the system then when the present system collapses (which possibly it already has and is) then they will simply create a new version of the same system wherein there is too much power in too few hands and peoples lives are centrally planned and control to benefit the status quo - those in positions of power. I think there is a reason why the educational system in the us is collapsing beyond the influence of the unions - the unions are being allowed to feed off the children as it serves the interest of those in power. But I don't think the people in power are really so all powerful but they have the upper hand. The key is in education and in tolerance and open mindedness and people need time to think and participate. But then it also depends on what they are taught they could are taught to be financial and corporate nazis.

I honestly don't know the best way to conduct monetary policy, I agree with his sentiments that it should be no central bank. But is granting the power to create and destroy money to the president a good idea? I sure as hell wouldn't like that here in the US. I guess people would at least be able to hold someone accountable and they'd have a direct say in who is the king of their currency, though.
I don't know, it seems like if price stability is the goal backing the currency with an asset would be better than granting someone the arbitrary power to decide what is too little and what is too much. At the same time, a government dictating what their currency is worth in relation to some asset seems at contrast with free-markets.
This guy was pretty humorous and he was spot on with his CB commentary, but I didn't see anything that lead me to believe he is the "real deal".

Beppo is a smart dude and the Italians are ahead of the crowd in the US (far behind the Greeks and the Spanish). After all, 50% unemployment for youths is 50% unemployment for youths. It is easy to see Beppo as Italy's last, best hope for something other than collapse.
50=70% youth unemployment is coming to Italy regardless of what Beppo does or doesn't do. Italy has little in the way of petroleum resources and has no way to 'earn' other than to waste prodigious amounts of what resources are left and to use that waste as collateral for more loans.
The West's problem is exhausted capital: we burn 88 million barrels of non-renewable capital every single day, we borrow stupendous sums from Wall Street and London financiers to do so. At the end of the day we don't have the fuel but we are stuck with the debts and nothing to repay them with ... using the fuel never did pay the debt, use was and is simply waste for its own sake or for 'fun'.
Grillo doesn't mention this at all, he cannot do anything to change course unless he proposes husbandry of capital which he doesn't. He simply attacks politicians which is fine ... but the real problem is avoided/denied. As such, Grillo will act as all the other policians before him have acted: he will deny reality and keep subsidizing automobile waste.
Grillo implies that reforming government would make Italian consumption more efficient. There can be no other reason to offer the reforms. However, one does not solve a capital shortage by more efficient cannibalization of the remaining capital. If reforms work as intended they can only make Italy's problems worse.
The only solution is to get rid of the automobiles, by the time the Europoliticians and the credulous publics figure this out it will be too late, the autos will be long gone and so with the European economy. The continent will finally be unified ... the whole thing will be called 'Yemen' and the sign saying 'Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here'.

I like Grillo, and I like his message, but if you watch the old videos of the Hitler's speeches, those too have an appeal if you can place yourself in the POV of history as it is "unfolding" (with no absolute knowledge of were the Third Reich will lead you...), (ie "Hitler Land", written from people's memoirs and diaries from the rise of the third Reich).........

A quick content analysis of the comments made about this on Zero Hedge is interesting.
Many people wonder whether the banksters will resort to dirty tricks to discredit or destroy Beppe Grillo, now that his message is getting up to such a critical threshold of 25% of popular support, which is on the verge of becoming significant. Indeed, that is probably the most important question. I think that North Americans are still below 5% of the population being able to understand the basic social facts that Grillo was stating.
I love to day dream about some series of political miracles where 25% of the people in North America were aware of the basic social facts regarding "their" monetary system. Of course, that only scratches the surface regarding what is going on on deeper levels.
To repeat my own little performance about this:
MONEY IS BACKED BY MURDER. The governments of states emerged through the history of warfare fashioning War Kings. Militarism is simply the principles and methods of organized crime, on a larger scale. Warfare is the oldest and best social science, whose success was profoundly paradoxical, since that success was based on deceits, backed by destruction.
Sovereignty is based on the power to rob, with the power to murder the most extreme form of the powers to rob. Governments assemble and channel the distributed power that everyone has to rob and to murder. I.e., the history of warfare, understood as militarism, selected for the social organizations which we call states, with governments, which historically were referred to as the War Kings.
As those organized systems of lies, operating organized robberies, became bigger and bigger, they were able to assemble and channel the abilities of hundreds of millions of people to be dishonest, and back that up with violence, into the form of countries. Those systems ends up being controlled by those who were the best at being dishonest, i.e., the international bankers. That is, the whole system was always based on organized crime, while the best organized criminals, or the biggest gangsters, were the banksters.
Thus, the human ecology, which surrounded our political economy, became a large group of people who behaved like sheep, and were taught to bleat the sheeple's morality, while a small group of people behaved like wolves, and covertly developed their wolf morality (which includes being wolves in sheep's clothing.)
I THINK BEPPE GRILLO IS TOO SUPERFICIAL, SINCE THERE IS NO OVERT RECOGNITION OF REAL DEATH CONTROLS BEHIND THE DEBT CONTROLS. THERE APPEARS ONLY BULLSHIT DEMOCRACY WHICH FAILS TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE BEST ORGANIZED MURDERERS HAVE EFFECTIVELY TAKEN CONTROL OF GOVERNMENTS! Many of the Zero Hedge comments above, which I agree with, that worry about the banksters switching gears to destroy politicians which become a significant threat to the banksters power, should be understood through the deeper levels of infinite deceits. Current public notions about good government were based upon deliberately ignoring realities that the actual governing was done through a system of covert organized crime, and so, the "tougher" decisions were being made covertly. Those tougher decisions still would have to be made by the people, IF they regained real control, but who currently operate as groups of Zombie Sheeple, while their moralities as Sheeple are NOT enough to govern realities. The current systems are due to the best organized covert gang of criminals, the banksters, being able to take control over governments. That is now a runaway madness, due to too much "success."
Beppe Grillo's "solutions" appear to be based on taking for granted the power of the government. However, those sovereign powers of governments are simply the historical products of a long, long history of previous organized crimes, which created the War Kings, and then the Republics, etc.. I repeat my view that there are no "solutions" but to continue to muddle through the madness of the dynamic equilibria of different systems of organized lies, operating organized robberies.
Beppe Grillo could not have a big enough audience that approved of a deeper message of truth. But nevertheless, it is fun to watch Grillo having an audience for even the degree of truth that he was presenting. A deeper level of truth only has its surface scratched by raising the issues about whether to not Grillo will be assassinated, if he continues to become more significant. That question only tangentially touches upon the deeper truth: MONEY IS BACKED BY MURDER.
At the present time, and for the foreseeable future, I expect our human ecology and political economy to continue to be a bullshit festival, where some Sheep say some Wolves are bad, and that we should get rid of them, while those Wolves will continue to respond by being Wolves. My view continues to be that I like the Wolves better than the Sheep. What I recommend is that the Sheep should learn to be better Wolves. Beppe Grillo's idealized solutions only make some superficial theoretical sense. I agree with those kinds of superficial theories, on their superficial level. However, those superficial theories do NOT account for the possible realities that he could be assassinated (through more or less covert means, which is the past standard operating procedure for the banksters.)
Deeper solutions should deal with the deeper problems. Having money backed by the state, but not be privatized to the banksters, is to try to go backwards, without understanding that one is presuming the state is not basically organized crime. Having money be better backed by the state, but not covertly controlled by the banksters, requires that the people become aware of, and take responsibility for the death controls, which back up the debt controls.
The percentage of the population that understands and agrees with that deeper view appears to me to be something like 0.0000001%, or less. We have managed to build a civilization based on triumphant deceits about itself, so that we operate a real human ecology that is 99% Zombie Sheeple, directed by 1% Vicious Wolves, where those Wolves pretend to bleat the same moralities as they taught the Sheeple to bleat.
Beppe Grillo appears to me to be another reactionary revolutionary, going backward by telling people they could be better sheep, by merely voting to get rid of the wolves in sheep's clothing that are controlling them now. Meanwhile, as many other comments on this article stated, we have to seriously worry that, IF enough Sheeple start to wake up that their leaders are really Wolves, then the leaders of those awakening Sheeple start running a real risk of being assassinated.
The ONLY realistic way forward is for there to emerge better Wolves, supported by more people who are better Wolves. The only genuine solutions are to face the fundamental fact that money is backed by murder, and then do that better.
FAIL.

In 1998, it was easy to treat this as pseudo-comedy. Now it is no laughing matter. When the rhetoric starts sounding angry, and people turn out in the thousands in open forums, then we will know the world is on the cusp of a revolution. I agree with the first part of your comment, RunningMan, but not the second. Everything is on an exponential curve, and so things now change more in a decade than the used to in a Century, and that is still speeding up towards unimagineable rates of change, where the social storms blow things away beyond our ability to comprehend at the present time.

Radical M - I gotta ask... What are you doing personally to avoid using the counterfeit paper produced by the banks/gov? The system is worldwide... we as idividuals can't possibly disconnect completely. Believe me, for the past 12 years I have done my best to stop using worthless paper fiat. I'm much farther along that path than most people and every spare piece of paper garbage I get is immediately converted to silver coins.
I used to live in BC. Are you still paying an exta 12-13% sales tax on everything you buy from a store? Fuck the banksters... they haven't got their sales tax from me in years. I will search high and low online in Kijiji or Craigslist first for something used and in good shape before I even consider going to a store (Canadian Tire, etc) even if they have a 50% off sale.

You are to be praised for taking real, physical actions to thwart the predators. I am very much the same way, converting any piece of fiat, fake, fraud, fiction, fantasy, fractional-reserve debt-toilet-paper into something real and physical, and keeping it that way.
And we should encourage others who have compatible goals and viewpoints to adopt any and every practice we can identify to weaken the predators, and strengthen anyone who is honest, ethical, productive individualist.
Even people like us, who took "extreme measures" (relatively speaking) to avoid giving sanction or aid to the predators, don't take every possible step we could. You've taken extremely effective steps which are not always convenient for you, and which sometimes "cost you" in one way or other.
And so have I, having moved to extremely remote boonies in a fairly non-NWO land, and set up an almost entirely self-sufficient life for myself. This involved years of exploration and research, and over 90% of my life savings (which was all physical gold and silver) to establish. On the other hand, now that I'm living this life, I have to admit, it is infinitely more joyful, relaxing and "real" than any alternative (so it was a huge sacrifice in the short run, but a huge benefit in the long run).
I'm just saying, maybe we should all be a bit less critical of others who are essentially "on our side". And I think it is pretty clear he is pretty much "on our side". My bottom line is, I agree with your message to him, but you could be a bit more collegial about it. The "good guys" in this world do indeed need to take more real, physical actions to thwart the bad guys. The pen alone clearly doesn't work.

The guy in this video is a great performer, very dramatic and energetic. In contrast, Ron Paul has the opposite presentation style - extremely restrained, quiet, calm and methodical.
Yet both of these guys get dumped upon by people who seem, on the surface, to agree with the basic thrust of their points. What is wrong with people? I mean, the "better people" who promote liberty or rights or ethics in some way?
We all know that this guy, and Ron Paul, and any real human being will not have the perfect position, will not have the most effective presentation style, will not create the perfect soundbites. Such a perfect human or presenter is literally impossible. Why? Because each of us can be turned off and turned on by different ideas and styles. So no single presenter can achieve "perfection" in effectiveness, in message, or in style.
What honest, ethical, productive humans need is results, not perfect presentation! We don't need to agree with everything this guy (or Ron Paul) says to applaud him. Though I'm a bit like a Vulcan (more logic and less emotion), I must say, "both these guys have their heart in the right place" --- and that's what matters.
