Last Week In The Land Of The Free

It's a pretty sad state of affairs in the Land of the Free when they have to pass a law making it illegal for the government to assassinate its own citizens.

Yet that's exactly what's happening.

Late last week, US Senator Ted Cruz introduced Senate bill S.505, "A bill to prohibit the use of drones to kill citizens of the United States within the United States."

More than likely, this bill isn't going to go anywhere. It'll get shuffled around to various committees and be largely forgotten. But the fact that it was introduced shows just how far things have fallen in the US.

Again, do they really have to create a law to prevent the government from killing its own people?

Curiously, it's interesting that this particular legislation stops at outlawing the assassination of US citizens on US soil... as if the Griswolds on their European vacation are acceptable targets...

Or that the bill specifically prohibits using drones to kill US citizens... but nothing else.

This is really amazing. But it's just the tip of the iceberg.

Also last week, for example, Senator Dianne Feinstein from California introduced S.482, a bill "to provide protections for consumers against excessive, unjustified, or unfairly discriminatory increases in premium rates."

This sounds mysteriously like a form of price controls.

Then there was H.R. 307, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2013. This 37-page bill awards the government with all sorts of additional powers in the event of what they deem to be a 'public health emergency.'

This includes quite a number of Big Brother tactics like national vaccine tracking and initiating BIOSURVEILLANCE operations.

Then there was H.R. 951, a bill "to promote the economic self-sufficiency of low-income women through their increased participation in high-wage, high-demand occupations where they currently represent 25 percent or less of the workforce."

This is a quota system, plain and simple... using government funds to induce private companies to hire from a particular demographic pool.

So, in just a week's time, the political elite in the Land of the Free gave us bills which:

1) ensure the government cannot assassinate its own citizens with drones
2) impose price controls with insurance premiums
3) award the government with more power to initiate biosurveillance operations
4) create a quota system in the labor market

It really makes me wonder... how much more will it take for people to notice how rapidly they're losing freedom, or how destructive the political leadership is?

The VIX is has hit a 5-Year low.  It has not been this low since April 2007.  Clearly, there is no risk in this market anymore.

Unprepared's picture

Wrong. The market is correctly pricing in collapse with a 100% certainty, i.e. 0% uncertainty, 100% risk

Purist libertarians are so simplistic. "Freedom is the answer what's the question", blah, blah, blah ...
Actually freedom is NOT always a good thing. As we can see, when people have the freedom to hoard precious metals instead of investing in the economy, many people not only delay the global recovery, but also lose a fair portion if their investment, while forgoing the inevitable long term gains in stocks. The freedom to run your own business without regulations and restrictions is also a bad thing, as we can clearly see after the 2007 financial crisis.

Hi francis, I should have posted here first:

Gotta keep those Psyochotropics flowing into the hands of our Criminal Project Monarch Patsy's hands.  How else can we keep the public in fear of our Government Black Op sponsers Flase Flags.

I have to hand to the Bankster/Rothchilds owned, controled and operated Lucerferian Intelligence/"Agent Smith" media Agencies.

They've completely PsyOp'd/Mind Fucked the American People's Psyche and perception of reality via Flase Flags coupled with media False Narratives.

1. Define an act of terrorism as warfare. (This was done by Bush after 9/11, and people let him get away with it. Even though terrorist acts have always been covered by U.S. laws. The Oklahoma City bombing was not treated as “warfare” but as a crime to investigate and prosecute as usual.)

2. Declare that those who carry out a terrorist act can be imprisoned without a trial, because it would be “dangerous” and a threat to national security to give them a trial. (Witness: Jose Padilla, the prisoners at Guantanamo, imprisoned for years without a trial, which is illegal.)

3. Declare that those who carry out a terrorist act can be killed without a trial, just like on the battlefield.

4. Widen the definition of terrorism to anyone who “gives support” to terrorists. As we have seen from no-fly lists, this includes anti-war people who have organized against the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. It also includes “right-wing extremists” who oppose the globalist agenda.

Done. Now you can do whatever you want.

When the dollar collapse comes, ordinary Americans who demonstrate against the globalist state can be disarmed, registered, harassed, have their employers called and questioned to scare them, have their leaders imprisoned without a trial, under the pretext that they are giving support to “the terrorists”. The way the globalists act, there will always be “terrorists” who strike back by force. This is useful for the globalists.

Reporter Ron Suskind nailed it to the wall when he got Carl Rove to blurt this out.

“We’re an empire now and when we act, we create our own reality and while you’re studying that reality, judiciously, as you will, we’ll act again, creating another new realities, which you can study too.  And that’s how things will sort out.  We’re history’s actors, and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

-Carl Rove

Yeah, if you have too much freedom someone ends up throwing a bunch of pigs in your drinking water supply!  Who in their right mind would want that to happen?

Meat Hammer's picture

freedom is NOT always a good thing

That's all you need to know about collectivist, statist, "progressive" (oxymoron) Million Dollar Douchebags.

A truly free market wouldn't be needing a recovery.  We're hoarding precious metals to protect ourselves from the likes of you.

You statist cocksuckers are so arrogant that when you break an economy, and people like us want to exit your creation, you claim that we're the problem.

The freedom to run your own business without regulations and restrictions is also a bad thing

If you knew anything about a free market, you would understand that, by the very nature of the market, the "regulatons and restrictions" are built in; they're created by the market, where people vote with their wallets.  The dynamics of millions of people engaging in free commerce are beyond the scope of what any central-planner can comprehend.

And you call yourselves the smart ones.

Why am I feeding the fucking troll?!?!?

MillionDollarBonus_'s picture

2007 and 2008 clearly demonstrated that a "self-regulating" market doesn't work. The idea that you can have businesses doing whatever they want without any regulations is completely idiotic, which is one of the many reasons that most people don't take libertardians serisously. Another example of when freedom is not a good thing is "freedom of assmembly". When you have freedom of assembly you get rackets like the 'Tea Party' and 'OWS' protests, blocking the streets, occupying media time and costing the government valuable resources that would otherwise be put to productive use. As much as I wish it were, the world isn't as simple as libertarians make it out to be.

Say What Again's picture

I know what you mean.  I was trying to get to Scores one night, and all the streets were blocked by those idiots.

I mean, c'mon, where's their sense of priorities?

Meat Hammer's picture

Haha!  You must be someone's who's just really bored and looking to stir up shit on ZH.  There is no way in hell you believe the nonsense you write.

thewhitelion's picture

"occupying media time"  Right.  Can't have that.  Just last week a drone killing somewhere knocked 5 minutes off of Honey Boo  Boo.  WTF!

Freewheelin Franklin's picture

Strawman, much?

Self-correcting, not self-regulating.

The only way that idiots  can defeat libertarian arguments is to misrepresent them.

Ans I think you are wrong about these protests using up valuable resources. The resources generally go to overtime pay for the local police, and I own donut shop in NYC.

acetinker's picture

MDB, You, sir (ma'am?) are a most-excellent troll.  However, may I point out that in the paragraph above, you used the words 'government' and 'productive' in the same sentence.  Even folks who get outraged at The Onion's newscasts are likely to see through you if you continue with missteps such as this.

Otherwise, carry on!

He's just like that fake Krugman that lurks around from time to time.

Sorry, MDB, I think I liked Loki's version of this speech better.

Kneel before me. I said... kneel! Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power. For identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel.

If you believe that income tax is not only immoral but economically destructive then stop paying it. Everyone is scared of going to jail, but what happens with USA is turned into the world first National Jail? Would it matter if you paid it or not? So why not keep the fruits of your labours NOW and save enough money to escape? I left USA in 2009.

icanhasbailout's picture

The USA has pretty much already turned into a National Jail.

It's too bad.  Earth is a wonderful place.  Most people are really good folks.  Always a few malcontents who lust for power that cause everyone else to suffer.

Punishing the prudent in order to rescue the irresponsible has long term negative effects on human interactions within a society.  There are always terrible economic and social consequences as the fabric rips.  Eventually the fabric ripped is the leader's clothes - hence "the Emperor wears no clothes".

Coming to a theater near you soon. Not an uplifting show.  Don't watch in a crowd!

The idiots who watch TV and Hollywood's shit enable and empower this.

mick_richfield's picture

In a world of fiat money, they will keep putting it out no matter what.

You might notice that Hollywood doesn't always have the profit motive you would expect.  i.e. they are often ideology-driven rather than profit driven.

What enables everything is that we keep using their money, and don't know how to stop.

I have friends who are becoming 'physically' ill over the world situation and in particular the U.S. Govt.  We're not youngsters, so we're feeling like David & Goliath, but we've been around long enough to at least read the tea leaves, and what we see is making us sick.

It is sad that the baby boomers and old fux are so screwed but some voted for Hope & Change along with the youngsters.

Obammie-care will finish em off - soon enough.m  Bot these old baby boomers and snr-fux all loved TV and Walter Cronkike.  They drool and sh*t in  their diapers in front of TV, read the lying newspapers and Hollywood crap movies. that support Obummber 110%.  Nice job.

I have become physically drunk many times over the world situation and in particular the U.S. Govt. these past few years. This is not a fun time to be fully aware of what's going on around us.

It literally beats you down to be awake to the unpleasant truth.

Agreed.  It used to be worth it for the fashonable affected despondency and the smugness of saying 'sheeple' a lot. But now?  It's honestly just fucking horrible.

I asked a friend if she was concerned about how mad the world was becoming.

She said, as long as it doesn't affect her directly, it doesn't bother her.

Sometimes I wish I could see things that way.
