Black Smoke Over Sistine Chapel - No Pope Elected On First Day Of Conclave

Tyler Durden's picture

On the first day of Conclave, we got no Pope decision as moments ago the Sistine Chapel chimney released black smoke. This is what happens when Goldman does not have a technocratic pope candidate who is, naturally, an immediate unelected shoo-in, guaranteeing the endless printing of diluted indulgences and Nominal Self-Flagellation Targeting.

As a reminder, Pope Benedict XVI was chosen on the second day of the last conclave in 2005, while John Paul II was selected on the third day of the 1978 conclave

The Vatican Bank - technically 'Institute for Works of Religion' - is housed in the old stone tower that used to be the papal prison, where people would wait to be put to death by the official Papal Executioner, who had a job until 1870. It is attached to one side of the pope's residence palace.

The Vatican Bank was founded in 1942 when Rome was under the control of Mussolini and his partners the Nazis, to take care of 'religious assets'.

---

The Pope was king-dictator of much of central Italy until 1870, and the last major Papal Inquisition was 1823-1846, described by ex-Jesuit Malachi Martin:

« ... Oppression, surveillance, a dictatorship ... almost 200,000 citizens of the papal states were severely punished (death, life imprisonment, exile, galleys) ...

There was a gallows permanently in the square of every town and city and village. Railways, meetings of more than three people, and all newspapers were forbidden. All books were censored. A special tribunal sat permanently in each place to try, condemn, and execute the accused. All trials were conducted in Latin. Ninety-nine percent of the accused did not understand the accusations against them. Every pope tore up the stream of petitions that came constantly asking for justice ... When revolts occurred ... they were put down with wholesale executions, sentences to lifelong hard labor in the state penitentiary, to exile, to torture. »

Some dispensationalists (John Hagee is probably one of those) think that the Pope and other catholics won´t go to heaven when they die.

200 years ago, the Catholic Church could probably be labelled as the bad guys. But I don´t think that´s the case today.

It is probably true that the catholic church has added many things which you do not find in the original Christian Church. But to me it seems as if the basic theology of the Catholic Church is far closer to the teachings of Peter and Paul than dispensationalism. I don´t think that is a coincidence that dispensationalism began in the early 19th century in the UK and became so successful in the late 20th century in the US thanks to TV evangelists. My impression is that the success of dispensationalist theology primarily is the result of an economic power that emerged in early 19th century Britain and media ownership in the US in the 2nd half of the 20th century. Furthermore, Cyrus I Scofield, who created the Scofield Bible, seems to have been an adulturer and alcoholic who was bought by a lawyer who wished to transform the Christian religion into something else.

It also seems as if the Catholic Church has preserved more of the Christian stance on sexuality than for instance many Lutheran Churches. That is probably because of the celibacy. If Catholic priests are not allowed to have sex, or even think about sex if (especially if they are gay), they are probably less inclined than for instance Lutheran priests to allow contraceptives which enable people to have sex more frequently. I´m not sure that societies with a strong Catholic influence have benefited from making contraceptives illegal but the celibacy has probably limited infiltration in the Catholic Church to a substantial extent and therefore slowed down the speed of theological change which usually is the a consequence of a changing society in other respects. The Swedish Lutheran Church is radically different from what it was like 60 years ago. That is probably primarily due the fact that the government up to quite recently appointed the archbishop of the church and that infiltrators and similar people did not have to give up sex in order to become a priest.

To me, it seems as if the Catholic Church is the last principal political/religoius force in Europe and America which so far has not given up some traditional values on social issues. Take sperm donations, for instance. Ever since Pius XII in the 1950s declared that this is mechanized adultery the Catholic has not caved in on this issue. But other Christian churches don´t think that there is something wrong about the idea to let people jerk off for a few hundred dollars like some kind of male whores (even if they generally think that masturbation is wrong). Nor do most other Christian churches think that it is a problem if siblings who don´t know that they are siblings because of sperm donations marry and have children although that otherwise generally would be considered as incest.

The only big problem with the Catholic Church seems to be that so many gay men in the 20th century became Catholic priests in order to hide their sexual orientation or in order to be accepted by the society although their homosexuality could be spotted easily in some cases (many gay men of European and Middle Eastern descent can be identified by the feminine shape of their foreheads, for instance). Men who became Catholic priests for social reasons rather than very strong faith were probably far more likely to commit sex crimes than other priests. Therefore, it is probably important that the new Pope is a man who decided to become a priest because of strong faith rather than for social reasons.

I think that you probably get a better society if there are some people who take Catholicism seriously. In Sweden, the last authority who opposed the semi-euthanasia practices which were introduced unofficially in Swedish terminal health care during the 1990s, when they cut public health care spending, was the late Jesuit priest and professor in health care ethics, Erwin Bischofberger. I doubt that most of the general public really understands what is going in Swedish terminal health care nowadays. And I´m not so sure that people who understand what is happening really care. Not even people who call themselves Christians. It seems as if you sometimes need hard-core Catholics in order to prevent Christian ethics from disappearing completely from our society.

"... thus proving proving conclusively that phrenology is not a pseudoscience."

My comments:

I suppose that some men who don´t have that protruding skull bone above their eyes which women generally don´t have may find my comments above detrimental. However, not all gay men have a feminine shape of their forehead (especially bisexual men) and there seems to be straight men of European and Middle Eastern descent who don´t have that protruding skull bone above their eyes.

But I think that even you agree that there are very few women who have a forehead similar to, let´s say, Charles Darwin. There is a difference between male and female foreheads. Many homosexuals also have a very typical feminine forehead. Few European straight men have a forehead like the former Swedish minister Andreas Carlgren (who is openly gay), for instance (I suppose you can find a photo of him on Google).

Youre right.  We need more people doing what they are told to do by people who know better how to run other people's lives.  We need more people to join your favorite cause so you feel validated and important.  Yes, we need to sacrifice our individuality for the greater good so people like you can feel better about themselves.

I think youre projecting here Dude.  You think humans are incapable of living peacefully purusing their own interests because youre incapable of doing so.  You need supervision so you naturally assume everyone else does.  You probably do need supervision because you lack self control, but not everyone is that weak, feeble and needy.

Nope...I have seen what has happened to a country that is increasingly self absorbed and more focused on throwing out every virtue and teaching that has guided societies (were not just talking the Catholic Church here) for ages.

Everywhere I look I see moral decline and assholes defending it as righteous, justified, Politically correct,yada...yada..yada.  Why because it serves their purpose of creating more self absorbed, short term gratified, sheep for them to sheer.  And their favorite boogeyman happens to be the Church since it is easy schtick and serves their purpose of brainwashing the sheep that all that have to do is satisfy themselves and not worry about tomorrw.  Like a bunch of monkeys, eat what you like, jerk off, throw your shit around...it is your right (Almost typed God given right, but that wouldn't fit your credo)

To sum it all up...how is it we live in a society that no one seems to care that we are in debt up to our eyeballs, dumping it on future generations, and corruption as far as the eye can see....because a bunch of assholes with no moral compass have taken charge of our financial and politcal system and convinced everyone else that it is their right. What say you?
