Cyprus Vote Delayed Once More As Latest Haircut Proposal Proves Insufficient For Parliament Support

Tyler Durden's picture

As we suggested, the ongoing wranglings in Cypriot political quarters has resulted in more changes. The President just proposed the 'levy' on deposits begin at EUR 20,000 just hours ahead of today's planned vote.

  • CYPRUS REVISED BILL SEES NO LEVY ON DEPOSITS UP TO EU20,000

However, it is still theft of private property which appears to be the philosophical stumbling block for the parties involved and therefore today's vote appears to be delayed:

  • ANASTASIADES TO MEET PARTY LEADERS 9 AM TOMORROW: SPOKESPERSON
  • CYPRUS PARLIAMENT BANK-LEVY VOTE MAY HAPPEN TOMORROW, CYBC SAYS

We patiently await news that the stock exchange and banks will be closed the whole week...

Must be the surge in consumer confidence driving home buying. My wife called me yesterday after buying groceries. She was shaken by the fact that the prices of a lot of fresh produce and meat had doubled. I told her to not worry, it's just a result of the economic recovery in full gear.  I think we'll drive around this weekend and pick out a new McMansion.

So the people of Cyprus has to keep doing without their money due to the Parliament delaying the vote.  What if they delay it once more?  In other words the people are without their money anyway, vote or no vote at this point.

The Russians no doubt are the reason for the delay and the threats against Parliament members.  I bet lots of them regret ever being in Parliament right now for that cushy government position.  :)

If they are unable to set a precedent of being able to steal money, with impunity, from the small people then there is no point in gong throught with the exercise. The process is all about teaching people that they are powerless in the shadow of their authority. If they cannot do it in Cyprus then how can they do it in the rest of the world?

Money is totally fungible for those who create and distribute it. The only use for it by those who create it is to use it as a whip and chains to control those who do not have the power to create and distribute it and who have become dependent upon it ... and those who create it. It is mechanism of power and slavery.

Pravda has a funny opinion article.

It therefore comes as no surprise that the peripherical economies, one by one, start to creak, groan and go under. By the time they receive their bail-outs, they are, to use the correct word, screwed and regally so.

Conceptually, how is this one-time theft of money any different than any other tax? 5% is nothing compared to the 40-50% that we pay each year on our earnings...

What is happening and is now very obvious. They are spinning the wheels of time to hear out what Putin has to propose in another rescue package. Here is his chance to play one heck of an Ace to undermine the Euro banksters he no doubt has a lot of love for. If they do not accept his offer, then he might play his other hand. The not so nice one.

In a late report we see this:

"European lenders are evidently nervous about the possibility of Russian involvement in a Cyprus bailout deal. French news agency AFP reports that Angela Merkel, German chancellor, stressed that Cyprus only hold talks with the EU-ECB-IMF troika of creditors, in a call with Mr Anastasiades yesterday evening."

Yet it looks like the Cyprus President is going to meet with Putin anyways.

"Mr Anastasiades is likely to meet with Mr Putin today"

So here is the breakdown. If Russia makes a deal with Cyprus that they can not refuse, it may or may not be the first strike in taking down the euro that will eventually lead to the fall of the dollar also. Anyone remember what Lindsey Williams said? He indicated that after the Euro crashes, the dollar will follow a week later. All as planned of course. They are sadly dependent on each other. How the banks will crash and and be replaced by honest banking without some kind of false flag event brought to you by the terrorists in isreal, or the americans that work for these terror creating banksters, is yet to be seen. Everyone knows the euro is finished after this fiasco and ONLY a false flag event to create more distractionary profiteers war for isreal and the bankster puppet-masters that own them will take the attention off the crashing euro. Eyes wide open for this.

This should be interesting to see how this all goes DOWN. One thing is for sure. No one is going to trust any of these banks anymore as the crash of these TBTF banks is inevitable. Everyone knows that. Time to start planning on what to do after that, barring some contrived world war being planned by isreal and obama in the coming lap-dog meeting this week.

That escalated quickly...

Even if he's wrong by a whopping 90%, it looks like finally the IMF has taken a bite larger than they can actually chew and pretty much met their challenge - a long overdue one, which they (unknowingly?) set themselves up to, and which they might actually lose, because I just wonder how they are going to unscrew themselves, after that.

I bet they are...

These bail outs are all about control and any Russian involvement threatens that control.

The EU / IMF are working very much like economic hitman, giving bail outs to countries that can never hope to repay or get free of these loans.

They want central control of the whole region with no local government opposition.

Basically Hitler's vision for a Germania didn't die with him, it was reinvented as the European project.

It will be interesting to see just what happens when the Cypriot bank do re-open. The Russians are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If the rush in and pull even a significant portion of their deposits out the banks will collapse anyway and they're screwed. Even a gradual withdrawal process will be problematic. If thes Cypriot banks are as heavily loaded on Greek and other soverign debt paper unloading is going to be a non starter unless they go begging to the FED and the ECB to buy it on the sly. Dumping it onto the market will crash it and the interest rate will skyrocket. Well Teddy Roosevelt had his Great White Fleet that he sent to South America when countries there wanted to default. Putin has his Medditeranian Fleet close by off Syria already. He also has a shut off valve at Gazprom.

This is still a manipulation to get a hold of the 40tcf of nat gas that's out there. It'll hit me soon how they're going to pull this off but I'm starting to suspect that the EU is using the deposits issue as leverage against Cyprus in order to get at the gas.
