This is step one.

Step two is seeing "CypriotCupid.com" web ads -- that when you know the economy has tanked and they have only one asset left....

I feel so bad for these people. I just hope they direct their anger at the right targets instead of at each other.

In the US our psychotic cops would have already opened fire.

@otto skorzeny

We'll be lucky if its just the cops.  Probably declare marital law and call out the new homeland division to swamp our asses.  Drones overhead!  Drones overhead!

Cyprus IS an island, after all...

Clearly, in the fotos, the crowds are tightly forming... & it is a well known phenomenon that when this occurs, on islands, they tip over & sink into the sea...

I learned that on C-SPAN...

Why do you think the guns are being taken away??

Big Slick's picture

It’s amazing to me how quickly the riot gear comes out.  And this is CYPRUS!

You want to see some scared politicians, the citizens need to start wearing that sh!t!!

Ahmeexnal's picture

The reason bank holiday has been posponed until next week is obvious:  CYPRUS IS DUMPING THE EURO AND GOING BACK TO THE LIRA!

Merkel's theft of depositors money has backfired and all of europe is waking up to the fact that the EU was yet another attempt by the teutonic nazi oligarchs to enslave the continent (and the world).

Like I posted months (or was it years) ago:  It is only a matter of time until Merkel's charred remains are found by the entrance to her bunker.

@ Ahmeexnal  You need to read deeper into the story you posted.  The training exercise was only for football game riots.  We all can go back to watching American Idol now

Perhaps the cops are wearing Google Glasses that display rioters deposit amounts on CallOuts so they can be targeted and their now ownerless assets siezed.  Sounds like a good book. Oh wait, it is.  Freedom by Danial Suarez

I think you need to replace teutonic and gestapo with zionist and mossad

"Merkel's theft of depositors money has backfired"

That's right, Angela was heaing to Cyprus with a big boobpack, hoping to sneak into the banks and pad her brassiere while nobody was looking ....

Or, gee, maybe this is the way it happened:  Merkel decided that German workers shouldn't have to have their earnigs taken at gunpoint (i.e., taxed) and used to bail out Cypriot bankers and Russian billionaiires, and that Cyprus should share in the pain of the collapse of their own economy rather than riding the German workers' backs - whereupon it was actually a Danish minister and the Cyprus President who decided to go after bank account savings. Nowhere, notime, nohow did Germany EVER instruct or request Cyprus to raise its share of the bailout by "taxing" bank accounts, and indeed Germany greeted the decision to tax accounts under the insured level of 100,000 Euros with derision (over 100,000, that's not insured, you have counterparty risk just like investing in bonds, and hence caveat emptor).

Indeed Merkel recently tried to nix a Cypriot proposal to loot the pension system to save the banks.

If you want to falsely and gratuitously blame someone, blame Israel ;-)

That's right, Angela snuck into Cyprus bank vaults at night, while nobody was looking, with a big boobpack - hoping to sneak into the banks and pad her brassiere, reckoning that not even the TSA would dare search there ....  But then, lo and behold, as she was climbing the stairs of her Swastika-adorned German jet, the moneypacks came loose and one large bundle of notes bouned onto the tarmac ... FOILED AGAIN!

Or, gee, you moronic racist prick, maybe we can put the German-bashing on hold for a second and examine what really happened, to wit:  Merkel and her cabinet decided that German workers shouldn't have to have their earnigs taken at gunpoint (i.e., taxed) and used to bail out Cypriot bankers and Russian billionaiires, and that Cyprus should share in the pain of the collapse of their own economy rather than riding the German workers' backs - whereupon it was actually a Danish minister and the Cyprus President who decided to go after bank account savings. Nowhere, notime, nohow did Germany EVER instruct or request Cyprus to fund its share of the bailout by "taxing" bank accounts, and indeed Germany greeted the decision to tax accounts under the insured level of 100,000 Euros with derision (over 100,000, that's not insured, you have counterparty risk just like investing in bonds, and hence caveat emptor).

Cyprus, its banks, and its people were involved in money laundering for too long. Enough is enough.

Please stop feel sorry for these scumbags and gangsters losing some of their loot.

It is incredible. The zionist banking mafia is collapsing and ZeroHedge readers feel sorry for them.

People, you are fu-king hypocrites.

TerminalDebt's picture

Nobody gives a shit about Cyprus, what they care about is the way the banksters are handling the situation

TD. You almost nailed it. "Nobody gives a shit about cyprus",

Please give me a brake felling sorry for "poor" people having over $130,000 in bank saving & checking accounts. Are we talking about the same Cypriot shepherds who never had any money?

How many American or Swiss citizens have that much money in their bank accounts?

ZeroHedge becomes an asylum for hypocrites and fraudsters.
