Nine Pollution Picture Perfect Days In Beijing

Tyler Durden's picture

While one night in Bangkok is enough for most, the following images (via Reuters) taken over nine days in Tiananmen Square, Beijing should highlight just how appalling the smog situation is in that country. As we discussed recently, this is more than a major problem for health, the reforms that the government proclaims means significant shifts in the economy (to say nothing of the increasing appeals for clean water and purchased clean air).

Plus corporate profits are at all time highs anyways... haven't you bitchez seen the Dow Jones?

What this pollution needs is more growth.  Growth is the fix.  If you REALLY want to put this whole thing back together growth is the answer.  What we need are politicians, from either side of the aisle, to come together and figure out a looooooooong term plan for consistent growth.... put aside their differences, and GROW our way out of this...

The quickest way to job growth is to make more stuff with shorter life-spans and provide these services and products to all people through government subsidy and heavy taxes on the 5 corporations left who will make everything.

What you see here isn't pollution.  It's progress.  These are proud to be human moments caught on film.

No, I'm that thought many here refuse to face.  The fix won't come from within the system.  The problems are bigger than sound "money."  Writing your congressman won't solve anything.

AS IF Maxine Waters "Mr. Bernanke told me low interest rates are so po people have access......." is gonna help you.

What you see in these pictures is Profit at ANY cost regardless of consequence.  That's it.  Otherwise it wouldn't look like that.

Say this in your head bitchez while you bitch about clean water...

"Product Sustainability is INVERSE to Economic Growth"

say that again...

My thought as well.  The air in Beijing doesn't bother me as much as LA.  One is a kind of sweet smell from outdated coal plants; the other is the plain old rotten smog we grew up with.  There's a program to decommission or upgrade a bunch of the old plants, status unknown.

Yes. Beijing is worse. It smells of the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons (in LA the gross thing is how much of the pollution is aerosol beef grease - seriously, look it up yourself). I remember that smell growing up before catalytic converters. In the national museum in the square there you can even see the opacity of the air looking across the main entrance hall.

No, it's smog. My daughter went to Beijing as a student ambassador in 2004 and all the pictures she took look like they were shot with a yellow-gray filter over the lens. She said the air looked, smelled and tasted awful. The only time the air is clean in Beijing is when a strong wind is blowing the pollution somewhere else.

The Beijing photos remind me of the USA in the late 60's and early 1970's. Perhaps a bit worse but not by much. I cut lawns in air as bad as the worst photos of this post. Looked just like that, with similar distance visibility. It's stunning how spoiled and out of touch people can get in just 45 years.

It also reveals the age and life experience of those who drone on about it, HAARP and Chemtrails.

If you are under 35 and have no knowledge of the world from that time, you would seize upon any website as 'reality and the truth'.

If, on the other hand, you are an adult and lived in a time before the PC, you know that this is just normal air pollution from industry and autos before emissions controls.

Chemtrails would be so easy to prove or disprove that it's not even worth bothering.

Just take a swab of the hot section exhaust duct after shutdown or even better just analyze the fuel, if there's something odd going out the tailpipe Surely it would take less that 30 minutes for a chemist to find out.

Hell why not just call your local airport refueler and get them to deliver you a drum of their current batch jet fuel then you can fart about with all kinds of tests yourself..

This Chemtrail nonsense is perplexing to say the least, if there is something going on prove it or shut up.

Not sure about chemtrails over in China. The globalist geo-engeneering and weather modification is all behind that action. There are several theories around that, from slowing down the planets spin, to covering up the massive amounts of solar energy that is coming down now. The worst is yet to come. One need only look out the window and take some pictures on some days to see it. There is plenty of info on the net about it also. We have watched them since 1996.

Irregardless of whether this is chemtrail stuff as more so maybe just chemicals and unrestrained industrial airborne wastes, what many are not taking into account is the back-flow of dangerous radiation from fukushima that sorta rocks and flows back and forth all over that entire Asian continent. The oceans all up and down the china coast, as well as all the others are inundated in the fukushima slam of daily radiation. This is prolly the greatest guarded secret that the babylonians want to cover-up. The babylonians responsible for this slow kill population reduction event do not want people to know how bad this huge ugly horrendous fukushima disaster really is. By the time anyone of significance says anything about it, or the people actually realize how bad it is, they will already have two feet in the grave.

There is no need for war, other than to hurry up the diabolical plans of these banksters. The fukushima radiation is ONLY accumulating all over the planet and will take it's toll eventually on every country in the world, especially as it is only getting worse and there is no fixing the meltdowns it in sight. Add that to what else is leaking and flowing all over the planet, and it is not a hard thing to figure out that life expectancy is not as long for the world's people as some would like to think. The ignorance of this horrendous crime against humanity is right up there with the crime of 9/11, and several assassinations of some good presidents in the past. Same darn crew that needs to be brought to the table of world justice if any of this insanity is going to be stopped. The hundredth monkey is starting to understand that. Let truth prevail.

Thankfully, California is getting most of it since it is drifting west with the teh jet stream.  So, before much longer all those Californicators will be glowing in the dark and dying off.   That should bring property prices there down significantly.

Unfortunately for the rest of the country, a large number of them have already managed to escape to, and infect, Colorado, and they are in the process of turning that state into a liberal shithole like the one they came from.  Give it another ten years, and Denver will resemble LA, on it's way to looking like Detroit.

RSBriggs,

Same with Austin where my son used to live. Ausitn is now called, "Little LA" with all the crime, gangs,  traffic and polluton and crap that goes along with it. He moved to a tiny town the Californicators have not found ....yet.

I travelled through China a few years ago and the pollution was unbelievable. There is a city called Lanzhou where not even grass grows and noone in living memory  has been able to join the army as they all fail the medical test....and when all this toxic crap in the air leaves China it passes over Japan where it picks up radiation from Fukushima and makes its way to America...and noone does anything about this!!!

There is a serious pollution problem in China, not just the air but water etc...

However, I found these pictures bullshit, (should have had an opacity meter included in the shots,,,, duhhhh)

I prefer my facts and data "hard"..... not that I consider official Gov of China data creditable...  however

"The Chinese government has acknowledged the existence of "cancer villages": areas where rates of cancer are unusually high, probably because of industrial and agricultural contamination of drinking and irrigation water."

"According to recent data, deaths from cancer in China increased by 80 per cent between 1970 and 2004. The disease now accounts for 25 per cent of deaths in cities and 21 per cent in rural areas."

If you visit New Delhi or Rio or anywhere with lots of factories and no regulations for the black smoke rising plus high growth in number of cars, this is bound to happen! Not to mention the high population growth. If you add a large dose of corruption, the potential for pollution reaches sky high!

That is the reason, Chinese are looking to buy real estate outside of Beijing and Shanghai causing all the rumpus. This rumpus goes all around the world to countries such as Singapore, Thailand, HK, Canada, Australia, UK, US to name a few. In parts of Africa, they just end up acquiring the entire mine or a farmland while bringing hundreds or thousands of employees setting up supermarkets, buildings everything. In Bulgaria, they just started a car production facility in 2012.

Here in Dubai, they created the single largest trading centre in the world called Dragon Mart with over 3,000 Chinese traders with premises under one roof. This supports an entire ecosystem of housing for over 15-20k employees and businessmen, their food needs and everything else. They did not stop in Dubai, last year also opened another Chinese mall called China Mall in Ajman, a neighbouring city, about 45 minutes drive from Dubai with over 1,500 trading shops with physical premises under one roof. Currently, they are busy expanding the Dragon Mart in Dubai to have another 570 shops for trading.

Confucius says: The more the pollution in China's big cities, more they will resort to investing, residing and conducting business abroad. :)

High GDP growth = High Pollution (when high density persists).

That's nothing. You should have seen the yellow/brown/green smogs that used to settle on Teaxs City in the 60's. The fumes from the chemical plants, refineries, and yards where giant sulfur blocks were constructed and deconstructed would sometimes combine with the morning or evening fog to produce something you would swear was cooked up by a Hollywood movie company.   Ahh, those good old days; but I don't miss the rashes.

My wife and I spent a week in Beijing in 2010. We had Chinese guides that of course spoke English. Anyway,

when I asked one of the guides, about the bad 'smog' in Beijing, she replied"Oh, that not smog, that dust"

I thought to myself, these people are not going to state the obvious, so Why NOT?

Could it be, that the Government would take such comments as being critical of the Chinese Govt? In which case

could the person speaking honestly, receive a knock on their door at 1:30 in the morning from their

friends in the Chinese Govt?

The last three times we went, either my wife or I got sick like dogs and came back with something nasty; skin rash, bronchitis ... the food doesn't taste right any more.  I used to go dreaming of that delicious Sichuan cuisine on Guijie; last time I was there I could only fantasize getting back to a good salad and Trader Joe's greek yogurt with raspberries on top.  We went to a new duck restaurant in Beijing and I couldn't taste any of it.

China has royally fucked up their environment.  Their mindset for eons has been, 'there's plenty of land, it never ends ...'  Well, they came to the end of it and befouled every stream and lake in the country.  They are well and truly fucked.

My wife is in her mid-40's and many people she knew in school are coming down with virulent cancer; and these are upwardly-mobile types, well-off; so I can imagine what the LaoBaiShin are getting.

Someone can make a fucking fortune shipping & distributing vitamins and supplements into the PRC, because their in-country product is (of course, it goes without saying), pure placebo crap.  Call it 'California Sunshine' or something.  They will line up around the block to get it.  Shipping it past the iron curtain is the bitch though; and then you instantly get knocked off and some hustler is selling your brand with wax and sugar pills in the bottle.

Voamerica; I have heard that repeatedly in the PRC.  It's not fear so much as they are so brainwashed they actually do think it's dust.  'Fog' is another one.

There's no info because every media outlet in the country is completely controlled by the party.  All the loaves are of one dough.
