"I Believe..."
Self-admitted 'crazy-guy-at-every-cocktail-party', Santiago Capital's Brent Johnson believes there is something really wrong in the world today. But as he notes as an introduction to his presentation, "while I am not naive to the way the world works, I at least want to try to make it better." Rather than tell us what we should do, he tells us what he believes in the hope that just maybe, we may believe in many of the same things... for instance, that despite the S&P 500 returning to its all-time highs, the real economy has not recovered; that holding interest rates at less than 1% for 5 years is an indicator of a recession if not a depression and that the fact that that middle class jobs have not returned is indicative of an economy in trouble. This brief but full presentation is a litany of all that is wrong today - see how many of his 'beliefs' you agree with...
"I believe..."
- S&P is at highs but the real economy has not recovered
- Rates at 0% is indicative of a recession or maybe a depression
- middle class jobs have not returned signals an economy in trouble
- and that these the three put together is a major problem
"I believe..."
- it is impossible to borrow your way out of debt...
- or spend your way to prosperity
- our representatives in Washington do not think the rules of mathematics do not apply to them
- very few people understand the power of the exponential curve
- and recognizing it when its right in front of you (national debt)
- that this system puts our kids in jeopardy (owing $350,000 at the age of 4)
- most people think these problems are so far off in the future that it is senseless to worry about them now
- they are wrong
"I believe..."
- See Something, Say Something should be applied to our government - we should tell our neighbors what our government is doing
"I believe..."
- Nikita Kruschev had at least one thing right, politicians are the same all over, "they promise to build a bridge even where there is no river."
"I believe..."
- Leadership starts at the top (and drops off fast from there) - and you gotta call them on their bullshit (Bush abandoning free-markets to save free markets & Obama 'stopping these ridiculous wars' and still fighting them 5 years late)
"I believe..."
- It is wrong that the Attorney General openly admits that large banks are 'too big to jail'
"I believe.."
- It's wrong when guys in suits and ties get off easy (Cassano, Corzine, Mozilo), yet organic farmers and young entrepreneurs have their business closed down and lives ruined - so the Justice Department can send a message that noone is above the law.
"I believe..."
- The greatest trick the world's central bankers ever pulled was convicing you they were on your side.
- They are not.
"I believe..."
- That Cyprus will not be able to live up to the terms of the latest bailout, and
- It won't be long before the ECB comes back for round 2
"I believe..."
- Once the confidence in fiat currency is gone, its over...
"I believe..."
- It's still a beautiful world, and that
- Most people want the same things in life, to be left alone to make their own decisions and live life the way they see fit
and one last thing
"I believe..."
- It is better to deserve honors and not have them, than to have honors and not deserve them...

You left off check for purity. .999 is what you generally want. Krugerands are, as you will notice, a deeper copper color and are widely desired and accepted yet not pure .999 or .9999 gold. Silver purity is also important but in circulated coinage like US coins they are 90% pure pre-1965 (with some exceptions).
You can also just collect all the nickels you get as change and sort all the pennies you get pre-1982 (and half of the year 1982 is copper but you have to determine if they are copper or not). This last bit of info will cost you nothing but will gain you some potential profit just on a coin's metal composition.
Yes...and remember some brass encased lead too..
There are 1/10 and 1/4 toz denominations of goldcoins. too
Here's what I believe. We are in very, very serious trouble.
Last month, I was at an event and listened to someone (27 years old) who came from wealth, well educated and endowed with all of the trappings of the modern world. In a casual conversation over dinner, while having no inhibition in ordering $75 appetizers (someone else paying), he educated us on how when someone gets old and is no longer productive to society, that they should not be granted health care because they are no longer a benefit to society. He said that they should simply be euthanized.
Last night, I had dinner with more refined individuals... late 20ies, both within 1 year of complete their PhD's (chemistry and psychology). The smugness, arrogance and self importance was stunning. I watched one of them laughing at a homeless man sleeping on a main street and make jokes about him. I saw the other one trying to debase every comment others were making throughout the evening.
What is most troubling is that this is the mentality of this generation. Don't fall for the old story that every older generation says the same thing of prior generations. We're descending into something that will require a total reset.
You had your chance and you should have taken it: You should have killed them.
Of course...I mean that in the best possible way.
It's the entitled narcicissitic generation. And they say "save the children" as if they aren't going to come after the oldies because they are "living too long." They are being bred in this environment of centrally planned education, media, economics, parenting...it's getting worse not better.
Absolutely. They are the ones to hug trees, save baby seals and be the first to crush the skull of an unborn baby in the name of being progressively enlightened. Welcome to the early stages of social disintegration...
Were any of their names Leopold and Loeb?
I believe those are the kind of people running Wall Street and government. I also believe the 2nd Amendment is there so we can protect ourselves from sociopaths like them.
If those two are 1 year from their PhD's, they are not refined. At that stage, they are harsh lab rats from years of torment from the asshole academics above them. They were forensically leaking to you how this disturbing pattern repeats itself within Universities. A few more drinks and they would have bragged about killing small animals.
I'm just in shock at what I saw and have heard... these will be the ones in 25 years writing laws to govern us...if society doesn't collapse before. I just can't believe how things have shifted in the last decade.
I would not worry. When TSHTF, they will last about 30 seconds.
True - the world has a way of cleaning itself of these kind of people.
Do not lose heart at the state of our young people - more and more kids are being pulled out of the public education system by parents who are "awake". Those who are awake but cannot pull their kids out of the system are hopefully doing all they can to re-program their kids during non-school hours. But there is a subset of the young population who are different - sadly, I'm worried there are not enough of them...but hopefully a population sufficient to carry the torch.
My sons are not like those you have described and I know there are many, many others out there....there is hope for the future. But, it is difficult to see when we look around us and see the volumes of the sludge that is the rest of humanity -- those that live off the Matrix and those that are like your cocktail party attendees. Agreed - when the SHTF, they won't last long. There are times when I look to the sky and think, "Please....bring it."
Great presentation. Methodical, straight forward. Reasonable. Surely he will be among the first against the wall.
As far as kids in their 20s today, they are vicious little things. Don't trust anyone under 30.
What? I'm 26 and I'm definitely not the lazy socialist half my peers are. I even used to be a patriot (not for this regime I'm not). I saved a good chunk of change at a young age. I'm heavily into gold, silver and lead.
Then you are the exception rather than the rule. Live in a "flyover" state by any chance? They raise kids better there.
Oh, I forgot one other important point of gold and silver stacking, which I've already attended to. A .357 Mag revolver and 8 boxes of ammo. I think I'll nickname my piece "Stack Protector".
Better to have 80 boxes so you can barter. And a .22 is good for game and cheaper target practice. Oh, and a rifle for larger animals. And Biden recommends a shotgun for defense. And don't forget the scissors for personal protection in the event of an event..
"What do I think of Western civilization? I think it would be a very good idea." - Mahatma Gandhi
"our representatives in Washington do not think the rules of mathematics do not apply to them"
Too many "do nots" in there? Or he is saying that Washington do think the rules of maths apply to them?
I believe tptb will continue to subsidize the sheeple with enough crumbs to shut them up.
I believe sooner or later, though, a line will be crossed locally, nationally, or even internationally.
I believe in running for the hills to save my family when the shtf.
I believe that if my shoes are tied and my fly is zipped, I am well regulated.
I believe in living to fight another day...tomorrow.

I believe this post breaks my virginity for commenting on ZH!
We live in the High Desert north of Reno NV. We have a well and a hand pump and when TSHTF we will have water. Since we will sell you real water we expect real money in return (silver or gold is fine). The only significant difference between a one dollar bill and a hundred dollar bill is that people think there is a difference.
Great. Where are the tens of millions of people who live in major urban centers going to go? Is there any land that is not owned by someone or some government? Where can they go, even if they wanted to? Don't be so smug about your desert and your well water.
If things get truly bad, most of them will probably die. As has always been the case for the densest populations during times of crisis throughout biological history.
Consider it evolution in action. Perhaps not "survival of the fittest", but at least death of the least fit.
this world is upside down.
The world thinks that you rule by lording it over others. But the world is actually ruled from a place of utter humility; a cross, where the Lord of Glory was nailed bec of our sin.

Where does that $350,000 come from? cocktail party?
Reign in artistic people today. wedding dresses Should you be fortunate enough to possess artistic good friends they'll be a big asset. That being said, you are the one particular who will shell out the expenses and do loads of the function (or shell out someone else to perform it.) So go wholesale wedding dresses ahead and get the terrific suggestions but be reasonable about what it is possible to afford and just how substantially time you (or your delegated helpers) really bridesmaid dresses have and don be afraid to say, we don possess the resources to do that.
I believe for every drop of rain that falls,
A banker steals another dollar,
and a central bank creates another dollar,
and a politician creates still another dollar of debt,
and a financier rehypotheticates all three of these dollars into 18 dollars of wealth,
and this is not going to end well.
I believe I will have *another* drink.
I believe we got a problem when the media headlines are designed for the algos
" But analysts tell CNBC that on the contrary, the move will help restore investor confidence."
Why It's Important to Keep Cypriot Banks Shut
the video is actually excellent.
algos got to start listening to the videos too
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, 10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. 11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: 12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,2 13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.3 14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, 16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! 17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, 18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What [city is] like unto this great city! 19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. [Revelation 18, 9-18]
Your religious proselytizing is much unappreciated here.
I'd say you're giving him a run for his money in the unappreciated category. Seems a lot of folks don't like you. Just saying... it seems you do a lot of preaching yourself, and your religion ain't the same as everyone else's.
I thought it was Celente ranting.
I'd say you are a dick.
I'd say you lack introspection and humility. Nobody likes a hypocrit.
And I would say that you lack relevance.
Please point to the evidence of my hypocrisy.
Every square meter of the earth is owned by someone. There is nowhere that you can go and live without paying for the privilege of breathing.
Anyone know how we can share the video of this presentation?
Very hard not to agree. Most people who "think" can understand that we are on the wrong tracks and picking up speed. But then what?
It is not true that financial autorities are taking the world on uncharted waters against its will. They have the full support of a majority of the population which will agree to anything they don't understand as long as the "party" goes on. Try getting elected to take the punchbowl away!
Correction: The financial authorities have the full support of the politicians. The pols know they are on a sinking ship, and haven't got the chuzpah to make REAL decisions. They are desperately hoping the FED will bail them out, so that the politicals can keep on keepin on. The majority of the population can't find Washington DC on a map. You give them WAY To much credit. Al beit, they will vote for the most freebies every 4 years.
"Think more, believe less." ~ John Trudell
I believe that if a critical mass of the population does not wake up soon AND get organized to do something constructive to move against the agenda of one world government and ownership by the elite - our children and grandchildren will not even be able to have a conversation like this in the future. This is perhaps the last gasp, the final phase before all freedom and ability to act will evaporate. We are entering a dark age for humanity despite how technologically enlightened we appear to be.
I tell friends and family about the situation in Cyprus because none of them watch anything that isn't "entertaining" and they agree it sounds terrible for "those people" but they can't make the connection at all with what is going on here in North America. They just don't want to know. It's like talking to a dog about quantum physics. They don't care. They just want to eat and for you to throw the ball one more time.
Sorry if that sounds condescending but that is the level of frustration I feel these days. And for the record - I used to be the dog.
LOL! I agree, most don't even know what Cyprus is!
"Is Cyprus an orange!"
I'm happy the old lady isn't pissed off at my PM acquisitions anymore. She wanted a pistol the other day, too.
Thank you, Jesus.
Too bad my PMs and pistols were lost in an accident, however.
Thanks, enjoyed
Once upon a time, the heads of countries were true leaders and not politicians. Men (women) of true substance, accomplishment, integrity, warriors, knights, and chiefs. Today our leaders are, in many cases, corrupt and spineless schoozers. They have never lead a Boy Scout troop or anything else!
We should not be shocked they are motived by the next election and bribes (better known as campaign contributions). They are destroying our country by sending the industrial base to foreign countries, wasting the capital (better known as tribute taken from the citizens), and spending money we don’t have!
The sad part is MOST of them KNOW this is not healthy for our nation, but there are more important things in life, like the next election and bribes. I don’t have a lot of hope for our political system, it has been captured by very expedient politicians.
Eventually, we will have a crisis and the system will correct or be destroyed!
He's onto something there...whoever the official group is that officiates recessions or not, they should change their criteria to include Fed intervention and mortgage rates sub 5%, Disability rates and employment levels below a certain amount. Savings rates at 0.1% or negative...these things truly are indicative of recession and should be added to the list.
Am amazed at Cypriots not burning down the banks and the rest of that damn country...I mean, when your government STEALS your money, you have to take action or you might as well put your head down, get on the train and hope it is going to a better place. Really amazes me the inaction of citizens in the EU at this point..
I am an incorrigible optomist as well.
When the shooting starts, there will be plenty of free meat.
Long pig...the other white meat.
Oh no....I'm sorry........It's not moar......it's moops.
