This is such an incredibly creepy video it’s actually hard for me to believe it’s real. Professor of political science at Tulane University and MSNBC host, Melissa Harris-Perry states the following:
We have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everyone’s responsibility, and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments.
This clip is very important because it really demonstrates the mentality of a statist. They want to run your lives in every way you can possibly imagine, including the upbringing of your children. Outrageous.

My Internet communication skills must be horrible. I was not trying to identify threats to my person. I was pointing out the way that people see someone like this social worker a threat. I can understand how people might see her as an encroachment of their liberties, but in all honesty, if you are a good parent there is a 95% chance you will never have to deal with someone like this. I also have experience with a friend/social worker, who genuinely likes to help people, who is able to make a very positive impact on troubled families.
But the message is lost here due to peoples blinding hatred for the gov. I can't relate to this, mostly due to the fact that I don't consider the gov to be anything more then a puffed up rent collector who keeps my driveway plowed and over charges me for it. I take what I want from their propagandize economic model and leave what I don't like. If they ever tried to dictate my lifestyle beyond what I felt appropriate I would leave the system.

To whom is she communicating to and what is her message? Could it be that if you as a parent are a failure at caring for and raising your children - its not your fault. Hmmm. Guess I have a little bit different take on it than the author. First some families are healthy and loving and nurturing and produce children who grow into healthy, functional adults. It would be ideal to grow up inside a family like that and have good memories of your childhood and adolescence. I did not, and I know many others (perhaps the majority) also did not. We were weighted down by disfunctional families, neurotic mothers, abusive fathers, awful surroundings like communities filled with gangs and crime, etc. Is a 5 yo girl whose mother dresses her up in provacative evening wear or swimsuits, complete with lipstick and high heels so she can prance around in one of these glorified paedophilia pageants really better off with a parent like that?* Hell no, I think is the one and only correct answer. That child will be damaged goods, likely for the rest of her life. There are many extremely unfit parents out there who have no business or so-called "right" to have children. I just think children shouldn't be force fed religious propaganda and brainwashed at such an early age. Rewiring a child's mind before they have formed any egoic identification isn't healthy or good for them.
So, the teaching of right & wrong can only come WITHOUT adherence to or acceptance of "a religion". Furthermore, if you separate a child from exposure to (any) religion aren't you assuming an identification has already been made of right & wrong?
We know this is not correct. A child will "steal" just because they "want". Thus, a "rewiring" is required.

You are avoiding the argument, like everyone else on this thread. I never told you or anyone else "what to believe." I said explicity that parents do not have a right to abuse children. That is a right that you DON'T have. Not under the constitution or any other document on earth. Children are not your personal property to do with what you wish for your own narcissistic amusement. Brainwashing children with cult propaganda, entering children in thinly disguised sex pagaents, feeding your child 10 Big Macs a day because your fat and you want your child to be fat like you, etc., are all forms of abuse. Maybe statism isn't the answer, but maybe some minimal form of screening and means testing is. For example, are you on public assistance? Yes. then you fail the means test and you do not get to have children. Period. Similar tests for people suffering from psychosis, extreme bipolar disorder, depression, etc. None of those people are fit to be parents. In fact they would make very BAD parents indeed. Ask any child who grew up in a household like this and they'll tell you..it wasn't a happy experience. It was a painful, miserable experience.

The government is us. It's whatever we want it to be. Conservatives want to leave it alone or return to the past. Liberals want to endlessly tweak. A little change here, a little change there. Enough little changes and eventually we will have the perfect society. Libertarians just want to privatise everything down to the sidewalk and have no government oversight at all--but actually I'm kinda glad that Bubba Joe can't build his hog farm next door to me thanks to the zoning laws. Then there are the radicals, and I definitely have some radical tendencies along with such noteworthies as Thomas Jefferson. We favor drastic, sometimes broad, sweeping actions to improve society all in one fell swoop. I think we need all four types for a balanced government. Each group tends to control the other and keep the other from getting out of control. I damn sure wouldn't want ot live in a country dominated by any one type, and I think if people were honest they would admit the same.
As far as seeing real abuse and doing nothing, yes, I've seen that a few times. I once saw an innocent man get his teeth kicked in underneath an overpass by a giant street thug and I did nothing to stop it. It was one of those times I wished I had had a gun because I would have used it and told my story to the judge and let the chips fall. But I didn't do anything and I still feel ashamed about my inaction to this day. We've become a pussified nation, and I lump myself into that category. My grandfather's generation was much tougher and put up with much less shit. The things people say to one another today would have earned you a broken jaw in his day.
The government stopped being us as soon as it was able to create money from nothing and force us to take it.
