Where Honesty Is The Worst Policy
Remember the Wal-Mart employee who sent out an intercepted email disclosing that "Wal-Mart February sales were a "total disaster", and was the worst monthly start since 2006"? Well, he won't be making that mistake ever again.
BREAKING: Wal-Mart executive who called retailer’s February sales a “total disaster” in an internal e-mail has left the company

Goebbels just popped a woody in his grave. Must keep the propaganda going
"Reality" is being shaped for mass consumption, and disrupting The Narrative will not be tolerated.
I know a lot of people here are not fans of Noam Chomsky... think he's controlled opposition, or whatever. But people should take the time to read the first few chapters of "Manufacturing Consent". He provides a compelling description of the "how" behind the narrative.
I'm not a fan of Ayn Rand.
Oldie but a goodie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuFScoO4tb0
I hope he left to pursue a career in politics, nah...truthseekers never make it.

See where Anthony Weiner is thinking of running for mayor of NYC? Sociopaths are oblivious to their own monstrosity.
But the guillotine always knows. hujel
No good deed ever goes unpunished...
Welcome to the Fourth Reich.
They found out he went all in short WMT.
The employee was lucky to escape the Emerald City(B'Ville, AR) alive...
We don't need no stinkin' truth
Aint nobody got time fo' dat!
I'm sure he just wants to spend more time with the family.
Wasn't he with the company something like 15 yrs?
just 7 years I believe
I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
pods
well-played!
I have ZERO(hedge) Fucks to give about that.
I'm supposed to think that the USA circa 2013 is any different than USSR circa 1986?
Bingo. The outcome here will be no different. I say Texas leaves first. They will get their gold back and are already working on a new banking system. The question is whether or not Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah go with them. All of these states are already recognizing alternative medians of exchange.
I believe that would be the least disruptive of all possible scenarios... which is part of the reason why I don't see it happening.
+1. And one of the clues will be this: as USSR was disintegrating, they kept elevating Gorby's title, until at the very end he was some kond of god or something.
Has anyone noticed how the media keep on referring to Obama as some kind of "Grand Poo-Bah"?
Only problem is, these dissolutions are necessary for a global government.
You see, the global-state can only result in the wake of failed nation-states, as otherwise, there is simply no feasible mandate.
Bretton Woods 2.0
The states don't need to leave the United States of America. We "the People" are America, not the Feral government. We just need to remove the cancer. That 30 square mile patch along the Potomac needs to be excised.
And put up signs on the Mexican border pointing towards Cali as the only remaining entry point.
Some states tried that once before. In the early 1860's. Didn't work out well.
Circumstances are vastly different now, the states most likely to go have a helluva lor manufacturing and a much greater share of the military now. Add in the fact that recognition for a breakaway republic would likely be quick and its an entirely different ballgame.
Can they take Quebec with them, the girls are good looking
we'll tell you what to think
at the time Perestroika was in full swing back in the USSR. which meant some form of change. that is the real difference with the US now- there is no change here and it wont happen for a long time. all the talk of debt being unsustainable- what a crock of shit. at the first whiff of trouble entire world piles into Treasuries and USD which will keep this farce going for a long time. as far as people being punished for speaking truthfully or even their mind- that is basically dead in the US. no-one in his/her right mind will talk out of some perceived consensus in workplace- why? Nothing will ever change. So this is another embodiment of moral hazard whereby those who live and act prudently/honestly never get ahead in this life and those that lie, cheat etc.- well these folks got it all figured out……
just saying.....
"Left" the company...
Did they fire him out of a cannon?
He went on a scuba vacation wearing lead boots.
How are your chest pains bro? Should I call for help? :)
<Take to QE and call me in the morning.>
I would take to but I think two would be better ;->
Who loves ya baby?
Chewed an aspirin and turned off CNBC. Feeling MUCH better thanks mate.
Sometimes pain in the chest does originate from the spine. It can feel awful, but has nothing to do with the heart. Not to diagnose you, just saying.
Thanks for the honest concern. The ol' ticker is fine.
My sanity however...
You're always welcome
It's my wife who gets the chest prains
Those black-eyed peas? They tasted alright to me.

Hope the WMT minion feels the same, Mr. Sam would hate the myopic vision exhibited @ headquarters now.
I'll bet his corpse resembles a fucking helicopter rotor right now.
Kill the messenger - via foodstamp founded GMO food. He'll be eligible now for EBTs?
Negative. No benefits for you if you quit or are fired for cause. You're SOL for UE or welfare in that case unless you have kids.
With Eric Holder in charge, Rubin, Summers and their puppet Obama calling shots (with pathetic organizations like the BLS and SEC to boot), justice is the last thing we are going to get.
We have no leaders. The bad guys are in control.
The system has been fully coopted.
No leaders? Other than self, how many do you need?
I have a leader. She'll be home around 5 pm.
1/(Integrity) is at an all time high
the math escapes most
WMT up 15% since its disasterous sales. Nice juicy short coming soon.
...just woke up (it's 5am here) and WTF? Gold down, market is SOARING. I am going back to bed
What makes you think TYLER that telling the truth is a bad decision? Or that staying at Walmart was a good decision?
The problem with all the truth sayers losing their jobs could be the VERY GOOD THING that's necessary to stop all the insanity caused by towing the line.
Isn't this what Zero Hedge wants? For the BS to stop?
Then why would you bag on it when someone's actually got the balls to stand up and put his financial ass on the line?
This is what it takes. SACRIFICE!
Double Standard.
I think the ZH message is intended to be: "The messenger WILL BE SHOT. All those wishing to apply for truthful messenger positions, please line up here..."
The messenger has been FREED. But let his lawyers decide what this pain and suffering is going to do to his career...
Their 1st Quarter earnings release should be interesting.
Better than drowning in the shower
The global economy is based purely on hope. Government and central bank policies are likewise based on hope. Anything on the macro- or micro-level that replaces hope with fear or uncertainty is no longer allowed. This man was obviously not qualified for such a lofty position in the new economy.
"Truth is always treason in an empire of lies" - common fucking sense.
Poor bastard, who is going to hire him now?
To make it in this environment I suppose it helps if you are a lying, backstabbing thief and can do it with a smile on your face. The only thing they require is you say exactly opposite on a resume and you do not get caught.
My career took a lot of bad turns because I was what I consider "honest", there truly was no room for talent that did not tow the line. Even the powerful that were honest were bought out over time. Sad but true. I can sleep at night and though it seemed like they were getting away with all sorts of crap at the time, looking at them now, I think I made good decisions. Every one of them are living wrecks. Shattered families and lonely lives. Seems you can't just be a prick in your professional life. It becomes you and will creep into your family and personal life.
Your comment shows honesty is always the best policy but it isn't risk or cost free. I left a firm when it's new product went into meltdown after a few months in production at customer sites. I wouldn't sell to any manufacturer who didn't have a backup to the system we knew would soon fail. I was told that with that attitude, I was no salesman and should resign which I did, on the spot. I was hired the next day by people in the industry who knew what was going on, so no problem for me.
I cashed out options for $11K. Today their stock trades for < $1 and the company is a joke in the industry. So go with your instincts when honesty is questioned. Your integrity should never be questionable.
At least you can sleep at night.
I couldn't work for a corporation. Tried it in my early thirties. It was a nightmare. I would rather go it on my own, even if income looks like a bad chart than kowtow to their hypocrisy.
JC Penney's has a vacancy.
"The Watchmen" cover sign is really the epitomy on corporate culture today in America (and the smily face was once used by WM, incidentially)

@ Yikes...does anyone believe earnings reports anymore?. The policy is : "what's the Streets eps expectation? OK put out numbers that's beat....what's that?...auditors?...don't make me laugh"
Maybe the data is still horrendous, and they found the guy to blame for it.
Didn't get the memo.
When its serious you have to lie.
In other news, a Connecticut man was arrested yesterday afternoon for apparently randomly vandalizing a car in a New Haven strip mall parking lot.
Witnesses say that the man suddenly flew into a rage after walking by the car, which was reported to have had a yellow "smiley face" bumper sticker.
We used to have George Washington "I can not tell a lie"...to Bill Clinton "I didn't have Sex with that women"! The Ministry of UnTruth is in-charge!
Poses the question of ,was he telling the truth ?
From Washington who couldn't tell a lie to Nixon who couldn't tell the truth to Bush who couldn't tell the difference. Now you have Obama and his teleprompter.
HMMM, does the person who leaked the FOMC minutes get fired or promoted? Do ya think?

Banks and health insurance companies are really just software companies. I commented on this brillian article here and read the entire article as written by an anonymous banker. He gets is and this thinking laid out proves it with models that lie and algorithmic formulas that execute all of this. He also had a lot of experience with start up companies so a "hybrid" as I call him.
This is the reality and to quote Mike Oslinski who wrote the software for the sub prime loands that all banks used and remodeled, "you can do anything with software" but he also addresses the clash with the real world versus the fantasies models create.
http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2013/04/banks-are-actually-just-software....
I call this honesty as it is what's really happening and economists are just using tools and sofware written by people smarter than them, Quants and Programmers so they are guessing too. So, wonder why health insurance premiums keep going up so high, you are paying for a lot of software and anaytics that are sold. Right now nobody has a good handle on big data value with many just slinging queries against the wall to see what sticks. One day perhaps someone will get smart enough to ask to view models and make those that move the money accountable, but not holding my breath as all are so well duped.
Big data is a meme created by storage companies.
Most companies have no idea what to do with it. You're far more likely to find random correlations between totally unrelated data sets than you are real ones. A nice example I saw was a very high correlation 0.97 between lemon imports from Mexico and US road fatalities.
http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ci700332k
Simply put. Big data is science done backwards.
Course the real problems start when some retard with connections finds some bollocks (but plausible) correlation and then tries to change the world.
Thank you for posting this comment. Knowing that there is one human on the planet that sees through the "big data" propaganda is somewhat comforting.
Ah well, what you have to do is buy shares in EMC, Seagate, Hitachi and so on, then go proslytising. Big Data is a storage company's wet dream come true, it's a bottomless pit of expense.
And if it doesn't work for them just take a leaf from the Keynesian manual. Clearly you needed BIgger Data! Record more inane crap and run bigger, longer, harder and uncut queries against it.
When I worked for a European firm, we were instructed to use proper terms to describe outcomes: a part was not repaired by being bent into position, it was adjusted. When a product launch fizzled with inventory distribution problems, "we were too successful!"; when a project produced insufficient results, "we were less successful". Being a chemical company, we never had disasters- that term was to be used to describe DuPont or Union Carbide plant explosions and toxic vapor releases, only.
DECATUR, Ill., Apr 6, 2013 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Caterpillar Inc. said it will lay off 460 workers at a plant in Decatur, Ill., where it has already implemented temporary layoffs and cut workers' hours.

If you don't take a pay cut, you get fired or outsourced.
Getting rid of him won't restock the empty shelves.
I have been thinking about those empty shelves.
Walmart is a great metaphor for the economy, one big empty shelf.
Main Stret is empty but Scrooge McDuck's money vaults are busting at the seams.
Where can I get old copies (not necessarily rare) of Scrooge comics .... I grew up on that shit .... I guess it shows .... I know .... Google it ?
No doubt Eric Holder will announce he is prosecuting this man for speaking the truth.
Convergence Theory: the US is now like the USSR. The State Ideology is not practised by the Nomenklatura but simply propounded. It is like 1984:
As the government, the Party controls the population with four ministries:
Everything is Newspeak and Doublethink
Not to mention the 400 000 repititions, like in Brave New World ...
JIGGA WHA!!!
A British global warming scientist was run over by a truck. Stuff hapens.
Walmart quarter ends April 30.
Walmart's accountants have 20 days to cook the numbers - and cook them well done.
Here's the likely report - Walmart's EPS hit because management bought back enough shares to make this number. Walmart's revenue will be down, but management stuffed enough warehouses in Cuba and called them sales out.
In summary, Walmart had a fantastic quarter. The only issue is that malls/big box stores are empty. Oh wait - sales increase online so that's no longer relevant.
Isn't it great?
The Walmart closest to TJ has "greeters" at the entrada and salida .... a few miles away .... at the Walmart Supercenter .... in an upscale neighborhood .... no exit greeter .... and 10 auto-check out scanners .... bag your own stuff ! Don't be mean to Walmart greeters .... get mad at Hillary !
Sickening.
Not waan single fuck was given!
Did they find the body?
It is as it is you have to be a lying asshole to survive these days.
This goes to show that Big Multinational Corporations like Wal-Mart, in the end, are just government subsidized entities (that happen to be traded in the stock market).
Wal-Mart: Where Statists go to shop, and where freedom dies.
Truth is Treason in the Empire of Lies. In every big company, no honest message goes un-punished.
Deviate from the approved narrative and you will be so far off the reservation you will never find your way back.
Volunfired.
Clearly he was not a "team player". No room for that sort of "associate".
Without a charging station, his complementary, seated, powered, shopping cart will barely get him home to work.
But without running lights, it will be very important for him to stay close to the side of the road FACING TRAFFIC!!!
