We Have Discovered The Boom! Record Jobs For Those Who Make Stuff Up

Tyler Durden's picture

In what may be the most appropriate chart to summarize not only the entire US "recovery", the "all time high stock market" and the daily newsflow, we present the number of jobs for those in the motion picture and sound recording industries, i.e, those who "make stuff up." It just hit a record high. And with "circus" jobs at all time highs, we can only assume jobs for makers of bread, if the BLS actually broke it out, would be off the charts as well. We will just leave it at that.

We don't need to manufacture anything anymore. We can replace all theses productive jobs with service, low end jobs.

This trend continues and you wonder why the job situation is so messed up.

That chart from the BLS “bull shit league” is as fake as my avatar.

I work in this very industry and we all have to do more work with less staff, it’s the same all over.

Also the film labs have been closing left and right. As an example a big entertainment center like New York only has one lab now and it’s struggling to survive. What I see are more minimum wage part timers and less talent. I concur when things get bad people go on staycations and instead of going away go to a movie, but have you experienced the price of a movie with popcorn and a drink that would make mayor Blumefuck  shit his pants. The theaters’ are being forced to retool to a digital format that costs millions when they have perfectly fine equipment that is finally paid for and giving an ROI.

YOU “WE HAVE DISCUVERED” SHILL FUCKING BANK LOVINGASSHOLES at the BLS are talking out the side of your ass! Want to see a chart? Show a chart of the fucking banking industry you piece of shit.

Less to do now that BinLaden was 'killed'.   Faking all those videos was a lot of work.

No worry though.  Expect a major 'Wag thje Dog' effort soon focusing on North Korea (seems like the Pentagon was a bit worried that going after Iran might actually be a problem - war game scenarios showed us losign a few carriers in the Gulf right off to cruise missles..... besides Iran was Cheney's pet ptoject.  Obama has to show some 'independence')

But bitcoin is perfectly fine with the authorities as long as it's handled by them because it offers the ultimate form of capital controls.

I think it is time we stopped discussing the unemployment rate while ignoring the inactive population.

It's time we moved, partly as an act of protest and partly as an act of truthiness, to a new statistic:  Employment Rate.

Employment Rate = # of employed/population

I think this would show the real trends better--the move to two-income families, and now the hollowing out of the entire economy.

Two issues:  Original/"big hit" content   AND   online / dvd/bluray sales.

This industry is hypersensitive to making all the right moves - to the point that they have choked the life out of themselves.

So now actors write cookbooks, make salad dressing, create clothing lines, are mouthpieces for socialist causes.....because their day jobs are done.

And, why not, former United States Senator Chris Dodd is a Hollywood lobbyist for the Motion Picture Association of America? In fact, he’s MPAA’s Chief Executive. And the motion picture industry, financed by banks controlled by men who have a lot of political influence, long has been given better treatment than the lowly citizen or small businessman by Congress.

The mix of  Hollywood tax perks covering the 2013-1014 fiscal year alone will cost taxpayers an additional $430 million a year for Hollywood through “special expensing rules” to (again!) encourage TV and film production in the United States.  Producers can expense up to $15 million of costs for their projects. (Provision Section 181)

At the same time, California recently gave $100 million in tax rebates to Hollywood film makers. In addition the state “provides a 20% to 25% tax credit for certain production costs on low-to-mid-budget movies and TV shows that meet other criteria.” Most other states give Hollywood "incentives" also.

Said the LA Times in January: "It's not clear how effective the incentive has been. Film and television production continues to migrate to foreign cities, including Vancouver, Canada, and London, because of the stronger film tax breaks available there.  And while production in the U.S. has increased dramatically in the last decade, most of that has been attributed to various state tax incentive programs.

“Nonetheless, the federal credit extension was strongly backed by the Motion Picture Assn of America,” i.e., Chris Dodd… i.e.,  Congress.

The chart is very easily explained, everyone in Detroit and Cleveland has a rap album.

Yeah.

Headin down da street, lookin fo some hoes

Caught some fine fuckin ass walkin through the doors

Checked to the left, checked to da right

Oh hells yeah, dat chick ain't gonna put up a fight

Gonna have dat bitch lyin horizontal

Take some snaps, you know it, full frontal

------

Platinum ghetto album right there.

I think the data is just skewed due to the high number of former American Idol contestants.

Here's a nice movie. Not Hollywood, that's for sure.  I approve more of this from the creative types.

The government never lies!  The CPI must be true.  You Sheep out there need to start complaining to the management of Safeway, Albertsons, and Walmart.  They must be gouging consumers with outrageous food prices and probably pocketing all those profits.  They have no shame.

Mr. Bernanke is doing God's work; and God now lives in the White House.

I know something about this industry and I can assure you actors and support are available and very reasonably priced.  There is  no upward price pressure

This is just B "L" S

Not to mention, reality TV is huge. This sector doesn't really hire people for any extensive period of time. Jobs come and go by the day here. Turnover is at a frequency most wouldn't believe. I've written employee on-boarding software systems for TV producers in this industry as they'll hire 50-100 people per day. It's all very short term though.

Opiats for the masses.  Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the free-flowing tax credits.  Funny how Hollywood elitists want everyone to pay higher taxes, except themselves.

Boom times in the agitprop industry?! No mystery there.

Soon to be a boom in guillotine and related industries.
